When will all the custom roms start coming in for Mi Max 2??? - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hey All developers???? When will you start making roms for the giant????

quoting from my own thread

Xiaomi has not released the kernel source. This makes development challenging. Things are probably going to change when that happens in roughly 5 months (based on delay to release Mi Max sources).

Hope MIUI will not make it delay as it predecessors.

There is more than a month for no more custom roms ?

I am very much looking forward to Resurrection Remix OS, it's my favorite rom.

there is more other Best Rom such as RR , Viper OS nitrogen OS... I'm asking about them
Go to Github and miui forums and cry as loud as you can. Those roms are only available after kernel source is released.

Just enjoy the current rom that mi max 2 dev has to offer. The stock miui roms are solid and quite nice; the chipset itself handles battery life in a very good way that you wouldn't mind changing or getting a custom kernel as of the moment. So please, don't ask for ETA, this Isn't a nexus/ pixel thread so expect a snail update for this device. Admin, for thread close please.
P.s: OP ask for thread close so you wont get flamed in your own thread. Just my two cents.

Availability of custom roms

I just heard that sources have been released for mi max 2
I was thinking of buying this device if there will be support for custom roms as im sick of using miui for almost 3 yrs(redmi note 4g)..... specifications of mi max 2 are simply perfect
I just wanted to know will there be any custom rom support in upcoming months....i can help in being a beta tester if developers are ready to give us roms... I'll buy the phone as soon as devs starts to release roms
Thanks
If you choose to wait until rom release, then u might have to wait another 1-2 months Itll take a bit of time to properly use the kernel sources and develop somewhat stable custom roms. I am staying optimistic though! In the meantime, take a look at my Index thread over here for currently available stock & custom roms:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-2/development/available-stock-custom-roms-mi-max-2-t3737523
Otherwise, if you choose to wait, it might be worth waiting until Mi Max 3 is released: https://www.google.de/search?ei=MkB.......0...1c..64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.w3wkBQQgc3s
Naturally, it will then take again some time for kernel sources to be released and custom roms to be developed... Its always the conundrum of waiting for custom roms on the previous year model or having the latest model but without custom roms
Okay then i guess i'll buy rn5 or mi max 3 whichever comes first...
RN5 probably will have kernel sources and custom roms available much faster.

Because there is little rom development for this device?

Greetings Friends,
I have seen very little development or developers for this device is very rare because the A1 before releasing the Kernel already had development, and this device was already released the kernel but I still see little development.
Yeah i dunno why developers not intrested in this device
How long ago did they start selling these devices?

Longer than A1 when it takes first customs
Before Launching the source code of the A1 Kernel and there were ROMS and Magisk modules for this phone, the participation is very minimal, I think they were all for the RN5.
I just hope developers will have a look at Mi A2. Is it too early to expect development?

Lineage for the A1 started 6 months after the release.
edit: Also the Pie update is near so probably nobody wants to waste time on bringing up a 8.1. based rom.
Another thing is that it has Treble GSI A/B support, so you can install a variety of already popular roms right off the bat. I know a custom kernel is under development that has both overclock and underclock as well. I am currently using the Arrow GSI rom and it works very well. I have xposed and root, I also get way better battery life than with the stock rom. The only bug I have is the front flashlight turns on when I use the front camera. You can flash any of the A/B roms on this site if you want more roms.
It even includes Pie roms and lineage os. I see no reason devs would want to spend time making something that already exists.
They will most likely work on kernel development/tweaks to fix bugs in the already existing treble roms, like the camera bug in the rom I am using.

Question Can I install a custom ROM for the Mi 10 on the Mi 11?

I have a Mi 11 and I want to replace MIUI 12 with something else because it performs really bad on rhythm games like BangDream and Project Sekai (lag, stutter, FPS drop).
I'm interested in the LineageOS PixelExperience ROMs. However, they only have released ROMs for the Mi 8 and Mi 10 but not Mi 11.
Once I have TWRP on my Mi 11, can I install one of the ROMs that was made for the Mi 8 or Mi 10?
If I can, will there be any issues?
Are you serious?

Yes, I'm really tired of MIUI lag and stutter on rhythm games. I've put up with it on Redmi Note 3 and on the Mi 8 for years. I finally upgraded to Mi 11 thinking that even with MIUI's bad performance on rhythm games, the Snapdragon 888 would be enough to run the games without FPS drop and stutter but that wasn't the case.
So yeah, at this point I'm willing to try anything if it means I can use something that is not MIUI.
I dont know if phones are like PCs. I've installed Linux, Windows, and even MacOS on the same PC I built with custom hardware so I dont yet know of a reason why this wouldn't work with phones.
Do you have a reason to believe it won't work? What's so unique about a Mi 8 ROM compared to a Mi 11 ROM?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know MIUI 13 was coming so soon. When MIUI 13 is released, will there be custom ROMs available for the Mi 11?
or why did you say to wait until MIUI 13 is released?

MIUI 13 deserve to waiting because he will based on Android 12. And for custom roms, just wait, device is not old and less expensive... so maybe some builder/modder will working on. LineageOS is bootable from few days, so if an AOSP base is available, with TWRP recovery in addition, a lot of ROMS should be available in the next months

It's only a GSI (Generic System Image) of Pixel Experience. Really it's full of bugs for the moment xD
