edge menu and nova launcher - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

If I install and set Nova launcher as default home handler will I lose the edge menu? Thank you.

You shouldn't. Both are running fine together on my note 4 with a note 7 Rom.

You be just fine I had nova in my note 4 note 7 and s7 edge and the side bar work great and when I set up my note 8 it will be there also

Thank you. So I guess edge is not handled by the launcher. A good thing ?, if you ask me. Thanks again.

Best launcher poll

What's the best launcher for the N7? If other, please specify which one.
In my opinion, I enjoy using NOVA.
Nova

I should've added Go Launcher to the poll.
I've never used a bad launcher. Apex is my current favorite. My least favorite was Go.
*nvm*
Nova for me, just like how they are showing the initiative

completely stock, Jelly Bean!
When using Samsung, HTC phones you become so jealous of the stock android launcher that it becomes an obsession.
Whilst touchwiz and sense offer some things that are better, as a past/current user of these phones, we just want to speed and compatibility that nexus devices can offer.
I don't think I'll ever root & install a custom rom on my Nexus 7, it's sexy, super fast & smooth & just what I wanted.
Enough to make me also consider a Nexus phone as my next phone too.

I use go launcher ex, not the HD tablet version. The one for the phone just works better for me.
I like the paid version of Nova the best, but if I wanted a free replacement I'd go with Apex.
At the moment I like the stock launcher the best. I can't really seem to get either Nova or Apex to look the way I want them to.
Apex for some reason I can't have 6 rows in landscape mode, because the gap between the icons and the labels is larger than normal that the labels end up vanishing with more than 5 rows in landscape.
Also I don't like how the dock bar rotates with the screen.
Nova launcher seems to have gotten better after the recent update, I can move icons easier now. One cosmetic issue that bugs me though is I've turned off the google search bar, however in landscape mode it still shows the divider bar between where the search bar was and the rest of the screen on the left side. I really wish that could be removed.

Nova is amazing, and blazingly fast. Very clear difference from Apex, which I used for a few days. Sticking with Nova Pro.
I like sslauncher. Different and loved it on my note as well. Just wished had more themes
From the Note to Nexus 7
Stock is great, using Nova to hide apps and sort apps into folders though, and is just as good
Using Nova Prime. Mimics 4.1 quite well and adds more function. No regrets. The reason I purchased Prime is because I already own Widget Locker and I chose to continue my support for the developer.

1st off LOVE your name!!! classic
have you tried Galaxy Launcher in Play?

Launchers?

Just got TabS2 today and wondering if most use the Touch whiz launcher or prefer others? I have Nova Launcher Pro on my LG 4 phone and love it but wondering if it better to stay with the Touch Whiz on the S2 or is it just personal preference?
Thanks

I use nova prime across all my devices. It's personal prefer but nova can be tweaked better in my opinion

I'm also a Nova Prime devotee. Came from my old Nexus 7, took one look at Touchwiz and thought "no thanks" and NP was one of the first apps to go onto it. Absolutely no regrets or question at all, running beautifully.
using Google launcher cause I used to have nexus tablets...
Thanks for the input guys. Decide to use the Nova launcher I feel it best around.

Any way to move the App Drawer icon in TW to the middle?

I HATE it being in the bottom right corner. There must be a way, right?
S-pen'd from my Note 7!

Not that I can tell. Then I use Nova Prime anyway. With Nova, you can move that button wherever you like.
Second that, Nova is your best bet
The Google Now launcher puts it in the middle.

I always wondered that too. Can't believe they don't give is that option. Oh well went back to my trusty Nova prime.

With Nova Prime do you lose the edge functionality or the S Pen usability?

Unlike the Google Now Launcher, you don't lose any functionality using Nova Prime.
Why can't Nova prime just be the default launcher. It is just so damn glorious. I just put it on my phone and the difference was like night and day from the touchwiz launcher.
I've been using Nova Prime for years, I was just wanting to give TW a shot because of the themes, but I just can't get over not being able to move the App Drawer icon...

Samsung has stuck that button over there since about Gingerbread. Sucks!

Pixel UI on Note 8

Right now I am using a Pixel XL and decided to purchase the Note 8 and try it out. One of the main things I'm worried about is going from a stock Android experience to TouchWiz. What is the best way (apps or anything) to imitate the UI of a Google Pixel phone on a Note 8?

Nova Launcher Prime + Sesame Shortcuts + Nova Google Companion
Pixel XL launcher works fine on the Note 8. Even as the search button on the bottom of the screen.

The only thing that sucks is that you can't change the icons on that launcher. If I use that launcher, I want Pixel icons.

Google it.
Maybe have a look at Lawnchair, a launcher built from the ground up to offer the Pixel experience on any Android handset:
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/ch.deletescape.lawnchair
I'm in a similar position to you coming from the Pixel to the Note. I've used an S7 before and quite like a few aspects of "Samsung Experience" but I do like the Pixel launcher.
Using Lawnchair. Not bad.
Wish it was pixel 2 launcher (esque) with the search bar under the icons.
Action launcher is a pretty sweet setup. Notification dots, swipe left for Google now integration and everything works.
It has custom icon support.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like there are some decent options to get the pixel launcher experience. But what about the status bar, settings menu and notifications?
Also, typically how quick is Samsung to update their Note line to the newest Android software?
First install this theme
http://www.samsung.com/global/themestore/index.html?appId=minuhome.Oreo&SITE_CODE=us
Then install this great port of the Pixel 2 launcher

Then install Google keep, Calendar, Gmail, Android Messages to replace the Samsung stock apps.
