Nexus wont sleep with power button pressing

Been happy with my Nexus with Cyanogen Rom, but just having a problem with it sleeping:
Suddenly its stopped going into standby/sleep when I press the power/wake button on the top. Pressing and holding still allows me to shut down etc, so its not hardware.
The only thing I thought was I just installed RoboDefence Free Edtn and Android mentioned it will keep the phone awake in the "Program Controls" confirmation page. I've since uninstalled the app but still have the problem.
Anyone know if theres a global setting somewhere for this?
Thanks,
I am having the same problem with my recent Cyanogen
if you are on 5.0.5, i'd wait till tomorrow till 5.0.5.1 comes out and hope that fixes it.
check your end button behavior under spare parts. i changed mine to "sleep" on 5.0.5 and now the power button puts the phone to sleep
had this problem for a few days intermitantly then wouldnt let me power down at all....took my battery out and phone wouldnt turn on...! phoned HTC said they will collect and see for repair/replacement...
tip: back up your data now just in case it is the power button on its way to braking down. just in case!
very helpfull staff tho wen i called up quite pleased so far!
any update?
..im having the same issue, and was
considering calling in & sending it back,
but i'm wondering if they'll snoop around n'
find out that i've rooted & un-bootlocked..

[Q] Volume down button "stuck" /Hardware button is not stuck itself/

Hey guys, I got my Incredible S a while ago. It's a splendid phone. My dad gave it tome as a gift, he bought it from Singapore. I rooted and installed many roms over the course of having it. Up until today I was using the Revolutionary 2.3.0 rom. I was browsing a Diablo 3 app on the phone when suddenly my volume down button (without me pressing it) began to function on its own. I was like "Ok, just restart the phone, probably something bugged." After the restart nothing happened for a while until after 3 minutes its started vibrating in Vibrate mode (Displaying the volume rocker on-screen) I decided to change roms since I have some .zips laying around. I installed MIUI 2.1.16 (a fairly old version I know for certain is working) Still, the issue persisted and after another restart I cannot get past Hboot. My phone is stuck in Hboot cycling the options on its own (without entering them). All my other keys function perfectly except the media button. If anyone has experienced similar issues I'd love to hear some feedback. I've also searched other threads on here, NOTHING found so far.
Cheers,

Take the back cover off and examine the actual hardware button that sits under the rocker switch. Perhaps it is stuck in the down position. See it you can get it to pop back up.
That was the first thing I did, the key is not stuck and I can freely press it. As a last resort I can send it to a local service shop but I'd like to see if I can manage this at home first. =)
Ok, fast update: by pressing the Volume UP button while pressing the Power button I managed to boot my phone into the rom itself. Now the Volume Down button does not function at all. I'll just run it through a local service shop and see if they can fix it. I was looking to buy a new phone anyways. Might keep this one as for my other carrier's sim card. =)

[Q] nexus one frequently popping power menu after flex cable repair

i was rooting and flashing ROM on nexus 1 for the first time in my life, so i ran into some troubles but i managed to run cyanogenmod 10.1 by vj.
everything worked just fine except the power button. Checked the forums... and found it might be the flex cable. I sent the mobile to service center and i was told they replaced the flex cable. Okay fine. Now the issue is that the power button menu keeps popping up even without any touch/press on the button. If i just press the upper body of the phone itself this menu pops up. I cant play videos in landscape mode without popping this menu. Its killing my day and experience of the awesum rom. I checked it with the service centre and they say i need to change the panel. I dont know but i feel like they are ripping me off. If i deliberately power off, it somehow gets to boot up with the slightlest touch or shake :crying: Guys please help me.. thanks in advance..

[Q] My Moto g 2nd gen got switched off while encrypting and now not switching on

Hi
I need urgent HELP.... Its my new Moto G 2nd Generation which I brought around 1 month ago. I was trying to encrypt my phone using the option in settings. It went perfectly fine till it shows 100% . Then it got switched off and now no response. I tried charging it up. Not working. Then tried to get into recovery by pressing power button and Volume + also Power and Volume -. No change. Did I bricked my phone? What shall I do? Its still in warranty, so giving the phone to service center helps?

Did you enter recovery before? Look at the following video and see if you can enter recovery:
Thanks for the reply.....
Thanks for your fast reply. I tried the same method but it didn't work at all. I kept my phone at home and after I came back from my office I just plugged it to give it a try. I guess my battery was fully drained, when I plugged it charging screen appeared. A small hope came and I kept pressing the power button and Volume down for sometime and in between Volume up also. I guess Its my lucky day today, phone booted into recovery screen and I just selected normal power up option and I got all my data back. ..... You don't have an option to take your battery out and put it again. Other wise I won't be facing this situation....... Thanks for all.
you always hard reboot your phone by long pressing power button.

It is a bit tight. Unable to press it properly for it to register a press. Sometimes when we press it too hard it registers multiple presses.
Go to asus or any repair shop to get your button out... if it comes without tearing down phone it will be cheap..((100 Indian rupees) if they have to teardown back panel then it will be costly (900-1000 indian rupees).. make sure to check every function after getting your device repaired.
Lil story
I faced Power button and air trigger issue 6 months after purchasing phone. I play pubg and my air trigger stopped firing in between no matter how hard i press L1 L2 (air trigger left - right). and one day power button got stuck. I was able to use that but it was stuck in phone.
Fortunately it was in warranty period and got both my problem resolved. Asus replaced my Screen IDK why ..but they told me it was the screen due to my air trigger was not working properly (Strange).. and the replaced my power button assembly too..
Got mine repaired for 550 INR
