Would you pay $20 for a full adhesive tempered glass? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Like a lot of you I've been after the elusive full adhesive tempered glass. I've been able to locate a video of one, so kept digging and looks like there may be someone who can start selling these if all goes well. I've not tried them yet but I'm trying to see if I can get one to do some testing with it. Looks like the price point may be $20, but I honestly don't think that's bad considering Whitestone is $40 to $50. Maybe we can work a group deal on it idk? Thoughts?

bad reviews:

But it's not from that vendor it's a different vendor, that was just an example cause everyone always tells me that it's not possible. Just wanted to post the video so people saw that they could make it.

And that's one review from one guy. I tried contacting that company myself and they won't ship to the US according to them. Either way that's why I said I'd like to try it first regardless.

The problem is getting air bubbles out without breaking the glass. This looks like one of those with the always tacky non-glue centers. They still use silicon around the edge.

I'd buy one. Looks good.

I'm not holding out a massive amount of hope, but I've purchased this one from AliExpress which claims to be full adhesive. It's cheap enough to take the risk...
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...r-Full-Adhesive-Anti-scratch/32828528538.html
One thing that gives me some hope is that the claimed thickness isn't the standard 0.3mm or 0.33mm that the bulk of the protectors seem to be, so maybe, just maybe, it's not one of those cloned protectors that probably all come from the same factory.

Wow that's cheap, can you review it when you get it? I bought a luuvvit tempered glass and although not full adhesive, I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I have zero issues with it.

I paid $50 from Bestbuy for a Zagg, works flawlessly

No but I paid 50 for Whitestone Dome Glass....

Theres one on Amazon that comes with some light... for $45.. if that was THE ONLY one.. so far it is.. but.. I will wait. If the only one I would

The case sold on Google Play is completely different. It has a cover over the screen that you open like a book, and it's made out of TPU. The Incipio case is a hard case, with no cover on the front. The Play store also charges tax and shipping, so that $20 ends up costing $32.83. The Incipio case is only $24.99 on Amazon. Tax is about $2.37, and if you have Amazon Prime shipping is free. That comes out to $27.36, which is a better deal IF you are looking for a low profile hard case.

seems like a pretty solid case that doesn't add too much thickness to the device. my only gripe is that it doesn't hug the borders enough, i mean if you were to drop it on a corner, it would still get damaged or scratched to some degree. please correct me if i am wrong on that
Not to threadcrap but for 25 bucks....doesn't seem worth it. A tpu case that's 4 bucks shipped seems to be on par with this case

Have you purchased both so that you have an actual comparison, or are you just assuming?
TPU cases add much more bulk than a slim hard plastic case. Just look at the pictures for a TPU case. You can see by looking at the cutouts for the buttons and speakers that there is considerable bulk added. The Incipio Feather case is much thinner. Similar to the Poetic Element case, which is also a slim fitting hard plastic case.

I completely agree with that. I usually buy cheapos on ebay, too. But, I haven't seen many hard plastic cases for the N7. Just lots of TPU's. I actually went with the Poetic Element case for $15 shipped.

screen protector. Yay or Nay?

So I'm just wondering how is everyone using their tablets.
Screen protector or no or are you using an alternative method like crystalusion.
Pros of a naked screen:
Better screen display quality.
the true naked feel
Cons of no screen protector:
risk of scratches
constantly wiping fingerprints.
what is the community doing now, let's collect few response and try to put them in one place.
Will be putting a Ghost Armor (screen only) on this week when it comes in, got a kiosk in Calgary to order it in.
I put the SGP screen protector on and I like it. I don't notice a drop in quality at all as it's not a matte protector. With that said fingerprints are just as bad as the naked screen.

Edit: It sounds really interesting actually I almost want to buy it and just put it all over my entire Nexus 10, but would it affect the grip-ability of the back too much?

It seems to be about $21 to order it ($18 off ebay); seems like a 1-pack-1-device kind of thing though... (I have quite a few things I'd love to use it on, but can't really spend around $20 per device though)
I emailed the manufacturer of Crystalusion about my concern with the rubber back grip; hopefully they respond with something positive though
I've tried protectors before and they all seem to stink. They feel like rubber or take scratches poorly and dirt builds up around their edges.
My Galaxy S3 and my Asus TF201 never got a scratch. My TF201 did shatter but no screen protector was going to stop that.

naked...gorilla glass 2.
I will put a case on, but I'm not concerned about the glass. Having owned other gorilla glass products I've never had a scratch..
Crystalusion sounds interesting, but I'll say it again that we need that self-healing stuff. Anyone have any idea about if/when we might see self-healing coatings?
Here's some questions I emailed to Crystalusion and the responses I got:
Q: My main concerns are how the liquid glass might affect the grip-ability of the Nexus 10 backing with it being rubber.
A: Even though it can be applied on the rubber and would not damage it in anyway. Crystalusion specifically has been designed to treat hard surfaces and therefore in your case would be better suited to protecting your screen. I say your case since it can be applied to the back of devices like the iphone etc...
Q: Another concern is how the liquid glass might affect speaker grills and the very tiny gaps between where the screen and sides meet, and for the buttons (volume and power). Ports are also a slight concern, and the bottom of the Nexus 10 also has an area for POGO pins.
A: We have solved this problem with our application method. Crystalusion comes in a pre-coated micro fibre cloth to specifically avoid the problem you are talking about. Even though the liquid itself wouldn't damage the inside parts of your device.
Q: Would the liquid glass prevent contact on the POGO pin area?
A: No this would not happen.
We have several customers who have applied Crystalusion to their tablets however I am not sure whether these have been Nexus 10s... Also just to let you know as a raw chemical Liquid Glass ranks higher in strength than guerilla glass does, and with Crystalusion specifically the main benefits being it is anti-bacterial as well as being an award winning nano-technology in addition to other features such as anti-abrasion.

fair enough. I wonder when will those smart cases come out.
How stupid can one be to not cut away the top right corner flap and use the original protector without hindering the experience?
Although economical, the plastic screen that comes with the nexus 10 probably won't protect against scratches. But it could work if you're careful

I went through half a dozen of cheap ebay screen protectors from different sellers hoping I will find that diamond in the rough Didn't happen. I even tried premium ones, like Spigen. Now, I'm on iSmooth and appreciate it more No matter how many reviews you read/watch, you make the final call on what you like!
I think a diamond in the rough is tech armor. I really like it and Recco it. I an a sucker for good deals on screen protectors though.

So, if you found tech armor to be the best, why do you continue searching for other ones, and I assume testing them out? I'm in kind of in a same boat, went through a bunch where some were too thin, others too thick, some left s-pen marks, others had annoying rainbow effect, and some didn't stick as well. Now, I settled on iSmooth and don't want to remove and reapply anything else. Even with my last "final" install I didn't clean up phone screen 100% and probably left a tiny area around home button oily where I see sp didn't make a good contact (my fault). But I just don't want to rip it off, clean the phone and re-apply it again. I too love good deals, but don't want to keep reapplying new sp. Now, got UAG case on order and that one comes with its own screen protector which some say is a good quality. Plus, Scott/JLG mentioned in another thread he will be coming up with dry install sp... It never stops lol!!!
I like screen protectors. Cell phones and screen protectors are my hobbies. My favorite one that requires soap water is phantomskinz and I have tried them all. I just got into these dry installs a I am very impressed. I like to test them out and I keep going back to tech armor
one quick question, does this sp cover the whole phone, or leave a few sections such as top or bottom.
alas...the code is no more..

I was able to get the case on with my DL and a CC in there. It doesnt fit very well, it creates a gap at the bottom and where the case meets the buttons on the back. Putting just 1 card in the case, you cant even tell its there. Keep in mind I have a AZ DL which is very thick compared to say a CA DL.

I've used a diztronic back in the gs3 days and they seem close. Diztronic is a shady company though so I'd never support them again.

How's that working out for you on the Flex? I was concerned that the screen on the Flex would be softer than a non flexible screen making it more probe to scratches and swirls.

I am clumsy, and tend to drop my phone, so I always have at least a cheapo screen protector, and some sort of case/skin on..so far, after 2 days, no drops on this one, but its so slick, its only a matter of time..

If anyone finds a Glass Screen Protector for the Flex, please post it here...
I love those things, and, it may be impossible for someone to make one for our curved screens..
thanks!

Have you emailed any of the company's and asked if they're making a glass screen protector for the Flex? You could put the email in here maybe so we all can pester them. lol I've never had one but my friend loves them too.
I contacted Nilkin, a Japanese company who made one for the one max, but haven't heard back yet.
I am not sure that anyone can/will make one, since it might be really difficult to get glass to adhere to a curved screen..

Ok. That makes sense. lol Darn. Thanks
I think its still too early to assume there wont be any. What most of these accessory companies do now, is wait and see how popular a new phone becomes, before they bother to make anything for it.
Assuming this phone becomes really popular in the next month or so, I think there will be alot more "stuff" for it.
Its really only been out a month or so in the USA..
I'm kind of surprised what's out in stores already. I remember some stores wouldn't get cases for a month after the phone was out.
I got a Skinomi screen guard from Amazon. It Is the nicest protector I've ever used (and I've tried a lot of them). Crystal clear and virtually no orange peel effect. I paid like $5 plus $4 shipping which was super fast. I'm sorry, but i don't have a link. Just Google it. Should pretty easy to find.

Front and back? Was it easy to put on and does the phone feel less slippery? I read that one of the protectors was coming up on the corners.

I only bought the screen protector as I'm using a case. I can definitely believe that the corners would peel up on a full body protector. I've experienced that every time I ever used one of those. It was fairly easy to install but try do it somewhere where there's no dust as these are very staticy and instantly attract dust, pet hair, etc. ( I put mine on in the bathroom ) Skinomi's website had a link for a YouTube video with installation instructions.

these are vinyl, not glass..
Hoping ZAGG comes out with one but I doubt it. Their glass ones for the iPhone and S4 are flexible so they wouldn't be out of the question for the flex. Really easy to put on too as I've done a bunch for customers
sent from the new G Flex
Good news y'all. Bodyguardz has a tempered glass screen protector available now. I used their glass protector on my S4 and it was awesome. Already ordered one for my Flex.

40's not so bad when you consider it's got all the benefits of glass without the fingerprints :good: Same price I paid for the S4. I'll post again after I get it installed. Just ordered yesterday. Don't know how long they'll take for shipping.
