Skinomi Full Wrap review - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

So I purchased a Skinomi full Techskin kit about $13, to wrap the sides and back of my Note 8. The application of it was pretty simple, there are videos online for it, on how to do it. The only weird thing about applying it is it pretty much doesn't stick at first when you place the solution on it, then as it dries it gets super sticky right away out of the blue. You can be moving it one second, then it just stays and is almost completely stuck on. You need to press down the edges and all and it takes about 45 minutes or less, but just keep revisiting it to press it down more. The back was ok, got some cloudiness (which they say is normal for a day or so) and maybe a couple of slight bubbles but I don't really care, it was mainly to prevent scratches. Attached are the pictures of what it looked like when I got it, and what it is like on the phone. You can feel it for sure, not as smooth as it transitions from one part to the other, but again, I got it to prevent scratches. I did not place the screen protector on it, because I was putting on tempered glass.
In addition you will see tempered glass, which I actually surprisingly feel like its good. No loss of feel at all, it just doesn't go all the way to the edges but the edge features all still work. Its a Luuvvit one, which I bought from amazon for about $11.00

Looks nice. Beats what I have on mine right now. Mine looks like a high 5 year old did it.

Holy crap that was funny!

I'll actually post some better pictures tomorrow on it. Realized these are not as good as they were taken right after. I'm amazed how unnoticeable it is, really liking this purchase.

I have my skinomi ordered i put it on all my phones. Great protection from dirt and dust getting around case edges etc etc. Keeps them brand new looking

Ok here are some better daytime pictures and bubblesare gone now

And last one

I did mine too with a skinomi full body skin before putting it into my case. I always full body wrap every phone because.....Why not? Dirt ALWAYS makes it's way between a case and the body of a phone. The skin keeps the dirt off and keeps the body like new! The guy at T-Mobile didn't believe I had the S7 Edge for a year until he looked up my account!
Fyi I dropped it on concrete and asphalt literally over a hundred times.
I'm not using the skinomi screen protector though. My Zizo Bolt case came with a Tempered glass protector that seals on the edges, but I've been super impressed and will keep it on until it breaks. Zizo is an awesome company! No sensitivity loss and super clear. Also no rainbow or bubbling. Yes there's a small dot matrix pattern though ( UGH ) but it's not visible at all on the screen while it's on, even in the sunlight.
I had the bolt on my s7 edge too. I love the case and it held up just as good as any otter box defender which I've used on tons of other phones. Like I said, it's been dropped a lot! Lol
Oh and a heads up...... hit it with a hair dryer and let it sit a day before using any tight fitting case or you will peel it up as you put the case on. Been there and done that. Learned my lesson. I LOVE skinomi skins but I equally like the IQ Shield too. Both make good stuff. IQ SHIELD feels a hair less rubbery but both are great!

I always use skinomi screen protectors. Never got the full wrap since i always use a case.
My s8 plus, I have the skinomi screen protector and a rhionshield crash guard all works great together and the back of the phone doesnt touch so it never got scratched.
Order the same for my note 8. Im waiting for my crash guard to come in. probably at the end of the month, ill be caseless then then
And a tip is to lightly spray the phone. Then lay the protector on and push the bubbles out from the inside to the edge. Then run your fingers up and down the edges for a few minutes and it should stick. Then i let dry for 5mins and then rub everything again.
been doing that since the note 4 edge and has always work.

Trust me even with a case, use a full body wrap! It not only keeps dirt off but acts as another cushion for impact even with a good case. They are worth the money for our nearly 1000$ device lol

How does the screen protector feel? Just like the back part? Or is it different material?

I did a blind test with my wifes phone before (she remove hers from one of her old phones. I believe the s7e)
You can tell which is skinomi and and which is bare. The bare is slicker.
But overall if its very smooth and people wouldnt know it was there. 100% clear and no gel or ruff feels to it. Ive been using them for years and to me there the best.
Also you can get a 2pack for around $7 ship so if one wears out you can just put the other one on.

SKinomi has been a weird brand for me. It gets decent reviews but sometimes people hate it. I always get Skinomi for all my phones, imported to Korea because they don't sell them here. I love how thick it is, compared to other "films", which means extra protection. I also like how after a while the solution just seems to have some kind of a chemical reaction with the film itself, and makes the film look very glossy and clear like .... actual glass. Once I get a Note 8 again, I will probably put dome glass on the front, and another layer of skinomi on top, and the back will only be protected by Skinomi. I swear by this stuff, it's in a different league from other films.

Ahh actually, yes it shows the s.Pen marks, so don't put one in the front. For the front, use Glass dome, for the back skinomi. THis is the only one I could find on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Prote...sr=8-1&keywords=skinomi+note+8+back+protector

Nexus 7 with Skinomi

Dear All,
Did anyone purchase and install a Skinomi screen protector on their Nexus 7 yet? What is the general opinion on the Skinomi Techskin screen protector? Your comments are highly regarded as I'm thinking which wet screen protector to purchase for my Nexus 7.
Thanks.
I personally do not like Skinomi. they damage and bruise easily in my opinion. For the price you pay the quality degrades quick. Bruising occurs more frequently in wet screen protectors I buy.
My skinomi just arrived today and best buy installed it perfectly for free. I'm letting it sit for a day until I use it. I'll keep you updated.

Got pictures?
I installed the carbon-fiber one on my N7; first time installing a skin type cover and wet screen protector.
Getting everything lined up was a pain for the skin itself. Had to pull it up and recenter several times, and still didn't get it perfect as I had hoped.
You use a heat gun/hairdryer to "seal" it to the device, so it doesn't peel off after you've installed it.
I don't worry about sitting my N7 down on tables/chairs now, as there's no chance to accidentally scratch the back.
The screen protector went on without an issue, just take your time and keep your fingertips wet with solution. Watch their instructional youtube videos before trying.
The resilience/self healing of the screen protector seems poor. Scrape your fingernail into it, and the mark is there forever, but it's only noticeable when the screen is off.
The protector finger/slide feel is better than dry protectors I've used, but it's not like naked glass.
The viewing quality of the screen doesn't seem impaired at all by the protector. No weird off-angle reflection or rainbow effects, or texture while the screen is on.
IMO it works, but is overpriced for what you get.
Still waiting on my Skinomi Carbon with Protector...how long did it take for you? How is the 'gripiness' of the carbon? I like the stock rubbery feel and don't want to drop it.
Thanks
RF
my skinomi should arrive any day now. will post review n pic sometime this weekend i suppose.
and remember, code get25 will get u 25% off. $20 for both nexus and RAZR protector including shipping n tax? i dig it.
I let mine sit for about 30 hours and then took a look at it. The bottom right corner is BARELY too long and hangs over the edge a little bit. Everywhere else fits perfectly, so I know it's a problem with the protector. It goes to the edge everywhere else. I'll power it on in the morning. $12 with one day shipping with Amazon Prime and I think it's worth it. I put my TPU case on it and don't notice the corner. I'll let you know if it peels back.

Gripness is poor compared to the glorious naked back of the N7, which is the best I've felt on a tablet. Slippery even though it's textured. Disappointing, but seems protective against surface scratches.
Took probably 45 mins to install skin and screen protector.

The edges haven't peeled up anymore. Screen is clear and looks good. However, after using the Zagg on my Galaxy Nexus, the Skinomi on my nexus 7 is like using flypaper. I HATE the feel of it. I'm sure it'll improve over time, but it's not even close to the quality of my Zagg. If I had to choose again, I'd choose Zagg.

Installed Skimoni on my Nexus 7 2 weeks ago, love it, easy to install, screen was not responsive for a few hours after installation but now everything is ok.
I've been using a Skinomi for a couple weeks and I think it's good. I decided to go with just a screen protector rather than a case. Most of the cases I've seen make the N7 too thick in my opinion.
The screen protector went on easily enough. I did get a bit of dust under the screen protector near the right edge that I notice every time I look at my N7. I agree that the screen protector takes away from the great feel of the naked screen but since the screen isn't gorilla glass, I think it needs something to protect it.

just installed it last night. this morning it looks glorious.
First thoughts:
- less than 15 minutes to install. just make sure u follow the video instructions EXACTLY. when it asks u to put water on ur hand, u ask, how much? when it want u to pick up the protector, u ask, how slow should i move? For a first time user with wet installation, that was a walk in a park. clean device. spray fingers. spray protector. peel. spray protector again. stick. slide. remove bubble. pat to dry.
- there are smudges and micro bubbles, but by morning they're all gone. don't worry.
- the smoothness feeling is different, the skinomi feels a little more "sticky", especially if u put pressure. but if ur a light-touch user, it's just as smooth.
- under reflection, i can almost see why it's called "orange peel texture", but i could not feel it in my hand. a bit "sticky" but nowhere near "rough".
- it's somewhat fingerprint resistant, but not 100% smudge-resistant.
- the skin feels a bit "soft", so scratching it with ur nail or keys will leave a mark, but u can't feel that mark at all and it seems to disappear after awhile.
- clarity is top-notch. i could not find any difference in color or brightness when i test it with a couple 1080p movies (Lorax for color, Wall-E for darker environment)
- size/cut quality, however, is the only "not perfect" score. it's a tiny bit smaller than my nexus (about 1, maybe 1.5mm at most) so the edges where the screen protector ends, and fairly *thick*, so it is a bit "sharp" (u can feel this when u slide down the notification from outside the protector into the screen) and it does attract dust in the corners.
overall, very happy. not incredibly happy or anything (abit thick and soft and sticky from what i expected), but it's clear, protects, and barely noticeable.
will take pic later...
I give it a 7/10. I got the Black Carbon kit. Skinomi is the only mfg that I can find, that also covers the bottom part of the silver bezel. I wish they included 4 more strips for the top half of the bezel. The Carbon back could probably be about 1mm longer in length. If you line up the speaker cut out perfectly (equal distance all around the perimeter of the speaker), the bottom microphone hole gets covered. I had to "cheat" the skin down so the edge of the speaker cut out on top, was right at the edge of the speaker. That left about 1mm of space at the bottom of the speaker where you can see the dimpled rubber stock back. This also leaves about 1mm of space on the top, near the Micro USB, where you can see the stock back. But this does line all the mic holes up and it is flush at the bottom. You *really* have to look hard to see this, so 9/10. The side pieces look fine, although around the POGO Plug takes some fiddling.
The screen protector it a "soft type" (I call the rubbery/vinyl type soft, and the plastic type hard). I have a Seidio "hard" type on my Nexus S, and love it. It doesn't have a mark on it after 2 years and looks like glass with the screen off and light reflected off it. This screen protector has very slight "orange Peel" and also what look like "crease marks" all over it. You can only see these with the screen off and looking at reflected light, with the screen on, it is perfect. It does scuff. I like that it had actual cut outs for both the camera and flash. Install was fine (steamy bathroom and latex gloves), no bubbles and imperfections do disappear after 24 hours and fit is perfect. 8/10.
These are all niggles, I'll be leaving it on.
After having mine on to about a week, my screen has started losing responsiveness until I reboot. Probably a rogue app, but it makes me wonder.

I've had one on for a few weeks now. I have to say I'm not a huge fan. I would describe the texture as gummy and it has made my tablet less pleasant to use. I'm probably going to switch it out for the default screen protector that comes with otterbox I intend to purchase. I've had a much better experience with those on a couple of other devices.

i agree. gummy is a better word to describe it. i was going with "soft and sticky" :silly:
but for me it's not overly gummy, and the "gummy-ness" does protect from finger prints and scratches. it does leave a mark but it "heals" up pretty well.
also, just realized that i kind of missed the center abit, so the space on the left is a bit larger than the right, and the bottom right corner kinda lift up abit. completely fine, but being a perfectionist with screen protectors, i feel like i have to redo it.....
anybody can comment on redo-ing a Skinomi?

Flash??? i didnt kno Nexus7 has flash!
Cant you just contact them for a free replacement if you messed up? I think I read somewhere that they do that.
I know most screen protector manufacturers allow that.
I just ordered a screen protector (no back protection, not a fan of the fake carbon/aluminum stuff) for $12 after shipping. Found a 25% off coupon online, it was "get25" I think.
I've used both dry and wet application type protectors in the past. And yea, the dry ones always feel better, but I still prefer the wet ones because its easier to get a perfect fit.
If you're good any fitting screen protectors perfectly or just dont care that it might be slighhttly off, then go for a dry application one.
I personally cant stand if the edge of the protector isnt parallel to the edge of the screen, or if the spacing on the edges are uneven lol. So I go for wet ones.
yup. just saw FAQ that it's easy to remove, wash, and re-apply. guess that's what i'll be doing when i get home
(maybe this time i'll take pictures... lol)

I bought a XOskin screen protector and also their carbon fiber back protector. Used the N10 with the protective film for several days but then removed it. I was thinking about returning the carbon fiber skin beccause it's too smooth compared to the rubberized back of the N10.
After just a few days of usage, what little tackiness the rubberized had is gone and it's fairly slick. I'm not about to clean it with whatever every few days to bring back what little grip it provided. I may slap the carbon fiber skin on after all.
Uh.. I have a hairline scratch in the corner and i still had the factory cover on and babied it. Gorilla glass doesn't protect worth crap.

I decided to raw dog it, too, and see what happens. I've put protectors on every portable device I've had since...well, almost ever. But, when I got a replacement Galaxy Nexus in July, I never got around to putting a protector on the screen. Despite being some off-brand "fortified glass", it's totally unscratched. I take some care to avoid scratching it (nothing else goes in the phone pocket) but I don't carry it in a any kind of case or pouch. Since my Nexus 10 will be treated even more gently (i.e. not living in my pockets), it should be fine without a protector.
If I'm wrong, I'll put a protector on my OLED retina tablet in a couple years.
I've also been using my Galaxy Nexus with "fortified glass" (tempered, but not Corning Gorilla Glass) since the device was released (a year?) with only the 2 part Incipio case that Verizon Wireless sells for it (silicone liner, hard shell around it) - glass completely unprotected. I put the phone in my pocket (pants, shirt, jacket, etc.) every day, use the phone a LOT, have taken it to the beach (generally throw it in a ziplock bag), put it in my backpack, etc, etc. Not single visible scratch on it -- and I'm a stickler for this, as little flaws somehow always manage to grab my attention more than they deserve. Not saying that it's bulletproof by any means - but with reasonable care, my phone with bare glass still looks brand new. The N10 has Gorilla Glass 2 -- again, not impervious, but should hold up quite well to normal wear and tear. I enjoy the bare glass SO much more than the slightly rubbery feel and drag of a protector that it's worth a bit of extra care for me so I can get away with a bare screen.
I have the full body protection. Was a bear to get on, took 2 hours of my time to get all the pieces on and it did not go smoothly. I used to think I was pretty pro at putting wet application protectors on but this is a HUGE device and getting big vinyl film pieces wet and then onto the device without parts folding over and sticking to itself, etc was a night mare. I even messed up the front protector. Loads of bubbles everywhere after over a week. Not BSE's fault at all but I told them of my situation at the same time that I noted my N4 protectors did not have a proximity sensor cut out and they sent me a new full body kit for the n10 for free with my n4 screen protectors. Great customer service!
Can someone who has the full body protector, installed, post some pictures? I would love to see what a device looks like properly installed! I saw the video for XO and they aren't nearly as hard because, well, they aren't really full body protectors. They have one piece that protects the clam shell for the most part in the back but that is it. All corners and sides are completely exposed. Maybe this is good, as there's that nasty edge seem feel from the little individual pieces, but still. If I can't master the full body kit installation this, I'll just rock it with the front screen protector from BSE and order a dry carbon skins back cover from XO. Those dry carbon things are really really easy to install... you can even peel them off and re apply them on another device and it will stay. Loved that type of protector on my Galaxy Nexus. They are not as poor feeling on seams either.
Nevertheless... can someone please post pictures?

screen protectors

who's using them? i horribly failed at putting one on today (a free one that came with my case..looked crappy though with tons of bubbles between the 3 layers before i even put it on lol) but yeah, i'm real bad at putting protectors on tablets because it kept coming out crooked because of that damn home button etc.
anyway, i've got a pack of 5 coming in the mail sometime this week, and i'm wondering if i should even bother attempting again, or just use it naked. it feels so good without a protector, but i'm afraid of scratching the screen. i've been using screen protectors since 2011 with my HTC Rezound, so idk what to do. i always end up with tiny scratches on my protectors, so i'm thinking i'll end up scratching the screen..

I always put screen protectors on all of my phones and tablets. I've just put one on my Tab S 8.4, had a few dusts under the protector. usually I would rip it out and try again, but I thought not today! Because fortunately the screen protector came with some stickers to help get rid of the dust.
Happy to say it is dust and bubble free now. Although it is not one of those fancy screen protectors, just a cheap one called elec shield.
invisible shield is the best.

I ordered these from Amazon as well. Should be in today.
I'll give it a try and see if I like it. Probably gonna feel weird at first though.
I too would like to buy one. I asked ismooth on twitter but they are not gonna make one for the tab S (I have one for my note 3 and it's just perfect).
I think I'm gonna go Invisibleshield. It's not cheap but I've only heard good things about their products :good:
anyone have any tricks as to how to get it on nice and straight on the tablets? I'm bad at tablets for protectors but decent at phones. I saw one idea where you place it down on the screen then tape the sides like a hinge, then you flip it over, peel it off, and just flip it back and lay it on the tablet and it should line up perfectly. wonder if it works.

anyone have any tricks as to how to get it on nice and straight on the tablets? I'm bad at tablets for protectors but decent at phones. I saw one idea where you place it down on the screen then tape the sides like a hinge, then you flip it over, peel it off, and just flip it back and lay it on the tablet and it should line up perfectly. wonder if it works.

That's exactly what I did. Works perfectly. The screen protector I bought even came with the positioning tape and stickers for dust removal. But you can just use Scotch tapes.
Mr shield
I have used many different screen protector products. I like spigen and I just installed the Mr shield ones. The are two finishes. Clear and matte. The matte finish cuts a lot of glare but impacts out door viewing. I now have the clear and love it. No bubbles. I have several videos on screen protectors that show tips on install . Herr is my initial install http://youtu.be/NHzarYjTtzE

sweet! i'll give it a try when they come in
Putting on a screen protector reminds one of what a dirty filthy planet we live on. There is dust EVERYWHERE. One tried and true method is to run a hot shower in your bathroom for 10 minutes with the door closed until the room steams up. This pulls all of the airborne dust from the air. Turn the shower off, and use the tape hinge method to apply the protector.
Despite your best efforts you are likely to STILL get that ONE DAMNED PIECE OF DUST FROM HELL that manages to somehow get on the screen. If that happens, DO NOT TRY TO PEEL THE PROTECTOR UP FROM THE EDGE because if you bend it at all it will never seat again properly and you'll have a bubble that won't go away. Use tape to stick to the outside near the corner and gently lift that way, then use another piece of tape to grab the dust particle.
One negative of putting a screen protector on a tablet this size. Unless the protector is tempered glass, you are likely to feel a bit of drag as you swipe the screen - no plastic will ever feel as smooth as glass - and because the area is larger than your phone, you'll notice the resistance more. Also, unless the screen protector has an oleophobic coating, it will be harder to clean greasy fingerprints of it than from glass. Last point, most screen protectors are actually softer than glass so you are likely to get it pretty scratched up which, while saving your glass, leaves you with a scratched up viewing surface you have to look at. The alternative is to buy a screen protector with a hardness of 9 or above with an oleophobic coating but those tend to be a lot more expensive.
Get a pack of 3 or more if you can. You WILL screw it up a few times and you WILL want to replace them occasionally as they get scratched up pretty easily depending upon how anal you are about such things.
good advice, thanks! but do you guys think this thing needs one in the end? I know gorilla glass is pretty soft and scratches easily so idk..

I don't believe this tablet has Gorilla Glass, at least I don't believe the specs say so (could be wrong?). So yes, it could scratch easily. You can try and be careful but all takes is a tiny bit of grit on your finger, stylus or wiping cloth and you are done, Gorilla Glass or no.
Actually you know, skip the steamy bathroom. Just do it in a dry room but use a strip of masking tape and screen until every bit of dust is gone. Also remember, after you place the protector on the screen with the taped hinge, make sure you clean the screen again because it will get dust on it from the bottom of the protector.
Mr Shield makes very good inexpensive protectors.

Why put a cheap screen protector on a premium device like the tab s. The best deserves the best or better. my screen protector cost 2 for 13 and a tempered glass on is on its way for $18. You cant even tell there on when installed correct.

Be very careful with the tempered glass protector. NEVER left it up by the edges - use tape. They bend VERY easily and once bent will never lay down flat properly again. Every tempered glass protector I've ever used developed sealing problems along the edges, especially near the home button. YMMV but that is my experience.
There aren't good selection of screen protectors in the UK. Looked in Amazon, Ebay, Google, nothing with quality. So I only got the Elec shield.
I'd get tempered glass if I could, but as long as I screen is protected for now, then I'm happy enough.

Caseless

Hey guys! I've been using my Galaxy s7 edge in a case ever since I got it, but one time I took it off the case and I liked the feeling of it. Is anyone else using the phone caseless and can you tell me how that experience is? I took a day to use it caseless but it was a little uncomfortable in my hand especially when I'm on my bed. Thanks! Also thinking of getting dbrand skin
Before otterbox came out with a case I wanted, I rocked my first edge caseless. I would sit down on my front concrete steps and the phone would slip out of my pocket every time. Had a couple of scrapes. Got abother edge and have thrown a xtreme guard skin on the back for less slippage but decided not to ruin the phone so I got a glass protector and commuter case. I honestly wish someone would come out with a spring clip holster for the edge so I can stop hiding the phone.

Get either a dbrand or tpu front and back protectors. I have the clear front and back protectors and they are great the phone sticks to my hand i have used the phone caseless since the release of the s7 edge and have not dropped it or even had the thought to my self of needing a case for it.
Here's a link to the one I got, UK link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CH5RJT0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_udp_apa_8e3IxbA2KK8HP
I couldn't find it on the US amazon website so if you are not in the UK you could try to find it on eBay or just purchase something similar.
When im home i always take off my case. I really feel the premiumness of the glass and metal build of the s7. Its what we pay for, premium build and the thickness is ideal. The only thing i hate about is when im on the bed using the phone it continues to slip from the hand and i accidentally touch the curve edges. I bought a super thin gel case for when i go out. And ordered a skin from slickwrap.
I use it without a case occasionally but it is kind of slippery. I bought a naked skin slickwrap since I was mostly worried about scratches that also added a little more grip
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
i used the phone with a case for 2 months, now i'm using a dbrand leather skin and a spigen screen protector without a case. waiting for a decent glass screen protector... same issue in bed, feels a little bit uncomfortable.
I quit putting my phones in a case since my Note 3. Right now I have Zagg HD Dry on the front and back (btw this is the most dissatisfied I've ever been with Zagg). My house is almost entirely travertine tile and I have dropped my phone once; it landed right down on the screen with not a crack on it at all (some what of a testament to Zagg I presume). I dislike the feel of the Zagg but it does its job but I really dislike the bulkiness of cases.
At home, case less (only front and back protectors). Outside, cased.
Sent from my S7 Edge using XDA Labs
I'm not so bold to go caseless. I really don't have confidence in the illusion of "Gorilla Glass" where you can watch videos on youtube of people dropping mallets and run the s7 with a car all day, but in the real word a 2ft drop could ruin it's pristine look.
While I like the feel of just the phone in my hand, I don't like it's magnetism for dust, prints, and oil smudges. I can't defend the aesthetic choice of making a phone ridiculously shiny and smooth, making it look gorgeous when it's clean, and then look like garbage 5 minutes later after handling it.
But I didn't buy the phone for it's look. I bought it for its processor, particularly gaming-related reasons, in which a case really helps for grip and avoiding those abhorrent navigation buttons. Phone be like "I know you're in an application with immersion mode and you're holding the phone landscape, but your palm lightly brushed against the recent button, so I'm going to go ahead and eject you from your game you're playing. What's that? You were playing a multiplayer match online and this slight inconvenience disqualified you from your match? Sorry bout that, but **** you anyway." It happens alot. When you're gaming in landscape, thats where your thumb and palm rest... on the top and bottom bezels. So you gotta uncomfortably ark your thumb to avoid touching the button, but a case you can play in landscape much more comfortably.
Since i take care of it, i don't use a case, just a full body skin protector.

Installation is a pain in the ass but i won't be worried about scratches anymore now and i love the look of it without a case.

my insurance covers till 1000 euros so im good (paying 3 euros a month)
Currently.. yes.. caseless.
My old S3 was caseless most of its life (with one of those screen protector packages that covered both sides.) Eventually the back one was taken off to make it look less grimey. S5 was also caseless except when I'd go backpacking or off road, in which case I'd slip it into an Incipio Dual Pro. (Glass screen protector was on it too.)
I've tried a few combinations on the S7E but since none of the glass options seem to be any good still, and every film based screen cover i've tried peels once I put it in a case, i've just been running with a Zagg HD screen protector and nothing else.
I love the feel of the phone, and reduced bulk, but I definitely have activities where I'd like to have SOME kinda protection on the phone. (Lack of such is how I managed to get some pretty gnarly scratches on the screen very early on.) Suffice it to say that I stopped caring about small scratches on the back a long time ago.

Anyone going to go bare without a screen protector?

I pre ordered my note 8 with Verizon and it came in yesterday!
I have the spigen kick stand case on it now. Got it from Amazon prime for 17 bucks and it's great. Makes the phone easier to handle.
I have the cheap plastic screen protector that came on the phone in the box. Really can't decide on a screen protector. I hate the wet application ones and the dry adhesive tempered glass always bubble. Thinking about going raw....any one else?
I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow but none of my accessories are here and I ordered the phone after the accessories. I wouldn't do it only because of some of the complaints of the s8 and scratches on the screen. There's some screen protector that I'm gonna try that is supposed to be a hybrid between regular protectors and tempered. Hopefully I can order that soon but I'm gonna have to use the one in the box or a temporary tempered glass on it

I am,in place of a screen protector,I'm using a liquid sealer.
Here's one that's relatively inexpensive:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Phone/165968396
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Tablet/112875380
And another that costs a bit more, but, good for several applications:
https://www.nanoflowx.com/spraygard
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nanoflow-X-...tector-PROTECTS-UP-TO-16-PHONES-/172590962858
Do these sealers work?
That's debatable, but,I've been using several different brands for about two years & while it is impossible to prove a negative I haven't had a single blemish on any of my phones for 2+ years.
Do not mistake this stuff as an equal replacement for a screen protector,it's merely providing scratch resistance, nothing in regards to breakage.
I don't recommend these sealers to everyone, especially to those who are prone to exposing their phones to scratching (using the phone w/dirty fingers/exposed to the elements/dropping/typically careless in regards to pocketing/pursing with items that may scratch on a regular basis,etc...)
I don't baby my phone, but,I do take care to keep it in a pocket holster while @ work & in a neoprene sleeve most other times.
For me,a screen protector is not necessary,so,I use a sealer for added protection against scratching.
Some think they're snake oil & TBH,I don't blame 'em,but,I loathe screen protectors as a whole,less a perfectly installed factory one,as w/the Huawei Mate 9,you'd be hard-pressed to notice.
I wish a factory-installed protector was an option, perhaps I'd be more inclined to use one, provided it didn't have the looks akin to a protective bra on a car circa 1980-1990.........................

With my first Note 7 I used Sharkproof "snake oil" and like you was very careful with daily handling. For the 4 weeks (!) i had my first Note 7 I had no issues. The only issue I had was that Sharkproof made the screen too slippery. For my third Note 7, the second was a swapped device from Samsung which went on eBay, I used Samsung's OEM screen protector. On the whole this was a great option as the S Pen worked well and was more effective than gel/TPU type and I managed not to waste money searching for the holy grail of the tempered glass solution. For the Note8, Samsung have not made available their own screen protector.
EDIT : And so for the Note8, I'm going to have to waste money on TPU/Gel like protectors until Samsung....

You would have social services take my phone in to protective custody, if you saw how I treated it.
Was just looking at my S7E screen, thinking "that's actually
pretty good, for its age". Then remembered I smashed it and had it replaced a month ago.
I have a case on it now...
My problem with screen protectors: Every one I've used has looked and felt worse than the micro scratches it might prevent.

Does the S8 have the same gorilla glass the Note 8 will have?
I was so hopeful that i could forego the screen protector on this one but from reading this thread i doubt it.
Last note I had was the 4 and i had the screen crack on me.
no matter how many people say they got no scratches, never go without protector. they are either blind, lie or can't place the phone in right angle to see those scratches.
i always buy protectors because of the scratches and not because the screen could crack.
on my s4 which has gorilla glass 3. i haven't had a protector for the last year after using always the same protector 3 years before.
since then there aren't any hard scratch on the display or anything but i notice alot of fine micro scratches but only when i put heavy light on it and hold it in the right angle.
i have used it much, but mostly at home and also kept care of it. still it happened.
as far as i know and have read this isn't any better on the newest gorilla glas 5. so i will not risk anything and keep on using protectors.
for the note i just simply can't find anything good.
whitestone dome on the s8 was good, but overpriced, not friendly for every case, popped up after a few months or just cracked very fast.
not good enough for this kind of money otherwise it would be good is guess.
all other glass protectors are useless since they only stick to the sides and will force problems like bad touch, dirt underneath or popping up very fast.
then there are wet tpu protectors which i don't like. they are too thin and flexible. they just don't feel right, leave marks quickly and often got a yellow touch or rainbow effect.
also they will probably not stick long on the edges and are mostly not case friendly even if they say so.
so the only thing which i consider are the good old school tpu/pet protectors which are applied without any water or so.
i hope they will stick good on the edges and if they are case friendly nothing will pop up.
it's a little bit harder to get all the bubbles out but i rather put some time into placing the protector right and remove the bubbles then buying every few weeks a new one or even go without any.
of course they will also feel kinda cheap like plastic (it is plastic afterall) but atleast they are not so thin and flexible like the wet tpu ones.
for now i will try this one and hope it will be good. if not well then im fuc*ed cause i can't find anything else!! (

Bare always feels great!
However, the cuts and scratches really detract. Insurance will not cover that as normal wear and tear. So, for the first time, I'm wrapping mine up. hehe
