Thoughts about this put together bundle I'm readying for my upcoming Note 8? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Hello all,
I'm about to list some items I'm thinking about ordering in prep to maximize the best duration of my preordered Note 8 for the next 2 years. I preordered my phone through Best Buy with Verizon in the Orchid Gray color. If you have better suggestions, post it to let me know!
Case: Spigen CS Slime Armor Wallet case in BLACK: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Galax...514&sr=8-5&keywords=note+8+cs+slim+armor&th=1
Slickwrap skin in BRUSHED STEEL: https://www.slickwraps.com/metal-series-skins-wraps-for-samsung-galaxy-note-8.html
Screen protector (if possible that could work with the skin wrap?): https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Prote...g=androidcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUacUdUnU62642
I am a bit concerned how I might pit the screen protector with the front part of the wrap, but really I think I just wanted the wrap completely in the backside of the phone to protect the glass. I am ordering through Slickwrap since it seems like there is a great promotion of 42% discount with a special promo code provided by them.
I'm open to suggestion so if anyone could recommend me something different or gives me their experiences, I will be happy with that! Thanks!

I'd say to get the skinomi full body wrap ( $15 ish ). The case is dependent on what you like but I'm in love with the Zizo Bolt case. Used it on my last 2 Samsung's and I drop my phones on concrete a ton. When I turned in my s7 edge, the tmobile rep didn't believe I had It for a year until he saw my account. Still looked like new !
The full body skin adds another level of cushion for drops and also keeps dirt from scratching the phone between the case. Dirt ALWAYS finds its way in so it's a fool proof way of keeping it from hurting the phone body itself.

And ive run this case on all my Samsungs. I love the kick stand built in and the lanyard for when I'm out on the boat snapping photos. It's also protected against literal hundreds of drops. It's protective capabilities are equal to an otterbox defender.

I'm not using the skinomi screen protector that came with the kit currently though. The zizo bolt comes with a glass one and it feels / works awesomely. No sensitivity loss and no weird rainbows. Ill keep it on until it breaks, then slap the skinomi on while waiting on a new one. Word of advice....
Use the body skin, then heat it with a hair dryer. Then wait a day before installing the phone case.
Then install the glass protector using the case as a guide. Works every time

Griffin Survivor case

Im getting tired of taking my otterbox defender apart every week or so to clean the dust out from the screen. Is the griffin survivor case any better? Ive heard its good, from some ios friends, also does amazon sell it? Thanks.

Griffin doesn't make a Survivor case for the Note 2. There's a chinese knock off that many of us have. I'm not in a position to compare it to an Otterbox. You may want to ask on Vectron's review thread.
As drnihili-zztop (man, that is one cool beard!!!) correctly pointed out, some Chinese manufacturer took S3 design of Survivor and scaled it up for Note 2. The fitment is OK, but the screen quality of the plastic screen protector is cheap. My kids had Survivor for their iPod touch, and I can tell you with certainty it's not the same. It is usable though, and has a great drop protection.
Now, here is a bigger question, why do you even need to use built-in screen protector on your Defender? Otterbox screwed up the design of this case for Note 2. Every comment you read in this forum or any other forum or even Amazon reviews talk about the same thing - awful screen protector. It's not flush with a display, but rather slightly concave up. When you push on the screen protector it sucks in the air/dust from the opening of home button. That's how you get specks of dust and moisture in there. I would say most everybody remove that plastic protector as soon as they get the case (use hair dryer to soften the glue and push it out). Get yourself a decent screen protector like iSmooth or Spigen, and you are in business!

I love the otterbox itself but the screen protector is horrible and yes i have thought about taking it out and getting a zagg but i've read that if i use the s pen it can leave the some indents, then i heard about tempered glass screen protectors. I was very interested in the MIME glass screen protector, but i just don't want to spend the $40 on it if it wouldn't work good with the otterbox defender. Also i heard somewhere elses(i think android central forums) that otterbox was going to revise the defender, i've been waiting on it but i'm tired of waiting. If you can suggest a decent tempered glass screen protector that works with the defender i might give it a chance, or if griffen comes out with a survivor for the Note 2.

If you read MIME review on this forum, everybody had an issue of edges not sticking. Even so it's discounted at 1/2 off, I don't think anybody paid $40, but rather $20(?) I wouldn't recommend it. I'm using VITREO from Seidio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210365 and absolutely love it. Yes, its expensive and it's narrow so you don't have any non-sticking edge issues (N2 glass is curved toward the edge), but it also bullet proof. With Defender, I was a little anxious when I placed my Note 2 in it when I had plastic screen protector in, but once plastic screen protector was removed - it was perfect. Keep in mind, I wasn't using real Defender, but rather HK knock off which is 1:1 copy of it (in both quality, fitment, and dimensions). I had original Defender 3-4 months ago, and returned it back after a few days of use; couldn't stand that awful screen protector and the whole bulk wasn't justifiable. Been rocking UAG with VITREO until now when I just switched to ZL 9300 mAh battery and ZL tpu case. But still going back and forth between UAG and stock battery, and ZL setup.
Yep. The one real complaint I have about the fake Survivor is that the screen protector marks up pretty easily. They are still decent cases though and can be had pretty cheap.

Help - Need a case that covers up edges

Hi all,
I originally decided on the S7 Edge solely because of the battery life. I hated the curved edges but thought I'd get used to them. Well.... the return period has long since expired and I still hate the edges. Is there any case out there that covers up the edges and adequately protects the phone? Like ideally it would have lips come up over the edges, almost like they weren't there. Additionally, is there any software out there that can turn the edge pixels completely off? I'm not opposed to rooting and such if necessary.
Basically, I'd like to turn the phone into a nice normal flat phone.
Thanks!
If you want a flat phone just trade it in for a regular S7. Otherwise, 3d print or mold yourself a custom case.
As stated, you should trade out for an S7. No company would still be in business of making phone cases if they covered up the edge on a phone specifically made to have one.
try the supcase unicorn pro... that helps to minimize accidental edge touches of that's a concern.
Having bought and spend so much money on cases, I have now settled for Piel Frama's iMagnum case for the S7 edge. I think I might do a little review of this case on here with some photos in few days.
This covers edges of S7E, has a magnetic closure and superb full grain leather. Absolutely amazing case.. Downside, it's one of most expensive case in market, but well worth the money.
P.S. I am not affiliated with the company.

This is the case you need for your problem. This is the one Cmart4 mentioned. It doesn't cover the edges but it is raised at an angle by the edges making it easy to hold like a non curved phone. If you're keeping the phone this is the best case for you. It's also really good with screen protectors since it clips on from the front and it has great drop protection. I've dropped mine over 20 times in that case with zero damage.

Are you going to use a Case (poll)

The phone is beautiful, but all that glass...
I always keep cases and screen protectors on my phones. I am too paranoid not to.
Most likely not. I want to keep the phone as thin and compact as possible, not have sharp edges when holding it (usually on the sides or the charging/speaker cutouts), it really ruins the look and feel of the phone, and after some use the cases and screen protectors get all scratched up since it's plastic.
I'm using an otterbox on mine simply because I'm forever dropping my phone at work and don't want to damage the phone.
Yes, glass screen protector, DBrand dragon skin and clear tpu case

already have my case and screen protectors. I have a deep sea blue spigen tough armor case, a clear spigen case and when the prices drop a little I will get an otter box commuter. still waiting on Samsung to ship my note 8......ridiculous IMO
Had to rush to get a case, didn't expect to get the phone early. Spigen thin case here and that's it for protection.

Accidents happen so a case it will be
yes but no.
I use the Rhinoshield crash guard. Its a bumper so the front and rear are open. But they test there crash guard @ 11 ft drops.
I have one on my s8 plus and its great. And see tons of drop videos from high drop and the phone works.
So im going to stick with that.
I do like the feel of a casless phone and that is the closest i can get to it. Rather have something and not need it then need it and not have it.
I see some of you guys have a screen saver!!!
When did any brand manage to make a screen saver that worked on any Galaxy edge device? I have owned the lot and tried dozens of panzer glass, plastic, part fitting, glued and goodness knows what and have never found a satisfactory screen saver for a device with that bloomin curved edge.
To that end I always use a case then keep it in a shocksock or a wallet type case that is most annoying to use but offers all around protection. I have even paid nearly 60.00€ for the official Samsung LED cover on several of my mobiles because I can't find a screen saver. Helppppp.
Please tell me what screen saver you have found. I would be very much obliged. Thanks.
Ryland
I'm using a Spigen Neo Hybrid case, and a Spigen Neo Flex screen protector. I like the Neo Hybrid cases because they don't add much bulk and have been great for protection, even minor drops on my previous phones.
Check This One Out
Since my S8+ been using cases. Just ordered this one on Ebay.

I got 2 (probably only will keep one):
Ringke Onyx ($4)
Caseology Vault ($5)
Both TPU, which is my preference. I love the corner coverage for little bumps and falls. I have never had issues with breaking phones so it's just a little peace of mind for me.
I always get the Samsung clear case, they're nice and thin and fit will, providing some protection.
@ Ryland Johnson, try this. I have one on my s8+ and its great.

I will put a full body wet install protector film, then I will use a thin, very thin case, and on certain ocasions, an urban armor ash color, magma series case
Yes

Ghostek nautical? Any good?

Should I get the UAG Monarch. Ghostek Nautical, or the ARMOR-X case? I can't decide but I want the best protection I can get, if there is any alternatives I would love to know what they are!
Thanks

Decided to go with the Ghostek Nautical. It's a nice case with excellent protection, including an integrated screen saver. The two downsides are that the S-Pen is very difficult to remove and headphone use requires an extender, which dose not come with the case. It reminds me of the Otterbox Galaxy S7 Edge case that had an integrated screen protector.
I've seen at least three other cases with integrated screen savers (all available through Amazon) but have no experience with these:
1) Love Mei Water Resistant Shockproof Aluminum Metal Super Anti Shake Silicone Fully Body Protection for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
2) Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Case, SUPCASE Full-body Rugged Holster Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Galaxy Note 8
3) i-Blason Galaxy Note 8 Case, Shock Reduction / Full body Bumper Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
I have the UAG Monarch on order. I've been using their cases with every single phone that had one available for as long as I can remember. I always had their standard cases (now called Pathfinder) but they apparently aren't making those for the Note 8 and I hate the transparent cases. So this is my first Monarch, I'm sure I'll love it just the same.
I have the Ghostek Nautical. It's not to great to be honest.
The photos when using flash are blurry and have the halo light effect.
You cannot get the S-Pen out unless you have small fingers or use another object to try to remove it.
It's kind of depressing because this case was awesome for my galaxy s8. Only reason why I decided to use it for my note 8.
I got a Nautical, and honestly its not worth anything near the amount sold for.
The one i got the power button did not work unless you hit it with a hammer. The fingerprint cut out was not aligned with the phone. The plastic feels cheap. and due to a reflection from the case, its impossible to take a photo with flash with the cover on.
Highly disappointed.

I'd say go with the OtterBox Defender, tried and true. If you are paying $60 for a case might as well go with the Defender.
I understand wanting to protect the phone, but looking at these cases they are unbelievably bulky. Sturdy yes but wow, the added bulk. What are you guys doing with your phones that you need such a massive case? I'm genuinely curious as my last case was a Bear Motion for the Pixel and it didn't even cover the top and bottom. And even now I'm only using the Rinke smoke TPU case.

I have a thick protective case instead of paying monthly then a deductive for insurance, especially nowadays that everything is glass the phones are too vulnerable to drops. Sure I'd love to rock the phone "naked" and show off the amazing design but if I dropped it I would be extremely pissed I just broke a $1000 phone.
I don't understand why some find it to be a problem that others want to protect their 1000 dollar investment some ppl work in accident prone jobs we need protection I don't like spending multiple 1000s repeatedly.

I bought a Ghostek Nautical for my Galaxy Note 9. The s-pen cover does not close. After complaining to Ghostek and demanding a replacement case or refund, Ghostek agreed to send a replacement. It took two months to arrive. The s-pen cover on the replacement case also doesn't close. Don't waste money on their case..

Galaxy Note 8 Case Thin Fit 360 - With integrated glass protector

This is the new galaxy note 8 cover from Spigen, does anyone got this? This is still unavailable in Europe.
Someone who own this could tell if you have any touch issue? Thanks in advance
its on amazon for only 17.99. see if you can order it through there instead.
I had the spigen glass protector with a different case, the 20 minutes the protector lasted on the phone I needed to do everything 3 times to get a response. Protector came off in my pocket, cut the lining of my suit and scratched me. Spigen didn't even respond to me via amazon when told. I have bought spigen for years, never again.

i can't, i must wait a few weeks that it comes to europe
I just got mine in today. I have a black Note 8, but got the deep sea blue case to add a bit of color to my life. The color is awesome, the fit of the case is great, but the screen protector is just okay. It took a minute to get it aligned properly, but it definitely feels like the touch sensitivity is worse and catches finger prints and smudges pretty easily. I typically don't use screen protectors, so it's a big difference for me. If they had an option for the case without the screen protector for a cheaper price, I would've gone with the case only, but since the screen protector came with it, I figured I'd give it a shot. If things don't work out, I'll just peel off the screen protector. The case is awesome though, I'm coming from a Speck presidio grip case, and am very happy with the Spigen 360.
Thanks for the info. i guess i'll take it asap. It just need to pop on amazon EU
Got my case today. I like the feel of it. Super low profile. Only thing I don't like are the connection joints. Some of them are flared out slight. Must be the material.
For the screen protector. I used the diy loca glue technique. I had extra laying around from my whitestone. Looks very nice. Have two bubbles but they are not in my "normal" touching zones and should have no negative effect. I'll post pics shortly
Pics. As mentioned earlier
