Tracking conversion when using a free / paid app model - Analytics

Hey guys,
for those devs that are using a free / paid app model, how do you keep track of users when they convert from the free to the paid version of the app?
Background: I have built a game app which has a free and a pro version. Users do not need to login to use the free version. When they upgrade to the pro version, Firebase / Google Analytics loose track of what that user has been doing in the past, because there is no userID tying the two apps together. This might be an edge case, but has anybody dealt with this before? Any thoughts would be appreciated
Cheers,
Philipp

Shazam for WM 6?

Hi,
Shazam is a cool application that recognizes music and tells you the who, what, where, when about it. It is availble for iPhones. I read that it is also available for the Android platform. Has anyone here got that running and if so, could they check out if Shazam can be made available for the Raphael (or any other WM device, for that matter).
I'd be very happy.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Izzard

There are a few cabs of it floating around. Search for Music ID
It had been posted on PPCGeeks, but was pulled, according to the poster, because of a legal threat from the publisher.

Shazam for WM6.1?
The link was run out of downloads. Could you please renew it so I can try to get shazam on my HTC Touch HD?
I thank thee deeply!
Your Fuze should already have it,located in programs Music ID.
IF your looking for the FREE version it is no longer available. If you searched the forum for Shazam MusicID you would have found this in an abundant amount of threads. The days when Shazam made a free version are gone. It costs $ now!

Possibly not 100% accurate, i found a version on here yesterday after spending about 20 mins with the search button. There were several trial versions, a couple of deleted links & some qvga / non-touch versions. The one i found works perfectly on my UK T-mob vario IV. Yes, in the "help" section it tells me that i can use it as much as possible for a fixed subscription, and that if i visit a cingular website i can remove the subscription from my (i guess) cingular account (which, being in the UK i dont have).
I've also read that they ditched the subscription idea some time ago (presumably they make their money from you buying the full tracks or ring tones etc etc).
The cab files are out there, i dont know if they are permitted under forum rules (some versions have been removed at the request of a copyright holder) so if you want one, search & download before the mods are asked to delete them.
Shazam

+1 for this. Free. Works fast.
Yep, Midomi is great.
Midomi rocks, I just wish it would save your searches.
Does anybody know where to buy Shazam premium version ?
It's on UK Marketplace but i live in France and though i tried to buy it there, it's not possible because my creditcard is not from UK.
Anybody have a clue ?

reQall users please read

I use reQall a lot and when I saw that there was an iPhone and BB app for the site, I emailed the developers and asked about an Android version. They said that they are considering one if there is user demand.
If you do use reQall please contact them and let them know you would like an Android app soon!
http://www.reqall.com/support
Since reQall offers a decent free version of their service (I have the pro version) why not try it out and make a pitch for the Android app?
Thanks,
Terry

Submitting apps to China stores

Hi Guys,
As a UK based Android game developer we have recently had a few games released on China Mobile and 189 stores via a publisher/distributor who have a presence in-country.
For our future titles I'm currently investigating the idea of submitting to these Chinese app stores ourselves in order to hopefully bypass the ‘middle man’ so to speak.
Lots of links to the app stores 'developer centres' exist, however it seems I've failed at the first hurdle. During the registration process I am being asked for our Chinese business license number and Tax registration number. I cannot seem to bypass this section or submit our UK business details in order to continue. Either that or I'm being asked to input a Chinese mobile number in order to receive a verification code.
Just wondering if anyone else had any experience of self submitting to these China stores? It seems as though anyone outside of China is not allowed to submit apps? Is that correct?
Thanks in advance
Mark.
Hi Guys,
By the lack of replies it seems this might not be the correct forum for this type of subject
Does anyone know of any other good forums which may be able to help me out.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
You could try this makingmoneywithandroid dot com. They have a very good forum.
Out of curiosity - which distributor did you work with there? We worked with Tencent and the whole experience was / is a bit difficult, to say the least.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the link.
We went with a publisher called Thumbstar, who are based in the UK, who work with a company from China called Viva Red. Currently they are getting us on the state owned stores like China Mobile and China Telecom.
I have heard of Tecent. Aren't they a massive 3rd party app store? So did you apply through their website or did they send you an invite to put your games on their store? Have you had much sales success with them?
M.
I know Thumbstar, they have quite a lot of games for Android in their portfolio. How was your experience with them?
As for Tencent, yes, their are a massive company (games, web, WeChat, etc.). They got in touch with us regarding one of the games we've published. We also had two titles published in China with The9 but it was quite a long time ago and I'm not sure if they are still in the business.

Will send you a PM Tom.
I can give u really advice because i am from china .here in china there are too many store
but ,you can choose some big store just like 360.cn ,91,wandoujia,and myapp.com .you can contact me by [email protected] .i may give u some help .
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
From my own experience it is easy to submit to Wandoujia (Peas Pod), takes about a week for them to approve everything, you need to prove you're the copyright holder of the the app (scan of company certificate) when you submit along with a signed "owner" form from their submission process. Registering is pretty straight forward thanks to Google Translate (for best results install the Google Translate addon into your web browser and/or use Chrome):
http://pmt.wandoujia.com/apps/dev/home
I've only submitted a free app, not sure but suspect things are more complicated with paid apps.
Other Chinese app stores are harder to submit to but usually only because of translation issues or also having to install their apps first and create an account - the apps are always Chinese too.
My app is on many stores in China, but I never uploaded it, they are just distributing a cracked version... :-/
What about Xiaomi? http://app.xiaomi.com/
$10 publish fee for each China app store
I check the website called www.app4chinese.com and they provide service to publish app in China. $10 per store and they list 19 China app stores on their website.
Hi Maineyak,
We actually help developers to promote globally their apps in different stores (not just gPlay) and increase efficiently the number of downloads.
Send us a PM if you need more information or check our website

How to distribute your app to China market

Hello everyone!
As title, i see that China is a very big market and they have a lot of people. I tried to publish an app to Hiapk.com or zhushou.360.cn and several markets but i don't know how to become a publisher or anything i can to publish my app.
Is there anybody here that success in publishing app in China market?
hi,
here are the links to developer portal:
zhushou.360 -> http://dev.360.cn/
hiapk -> http://dev.apk.hiapk.com/login
This report has some information that can help you with some major chinese publishers, local App Stores and more.
http://www.slideshare.net/appsasia/chinese-app-market-research
Have you had experience on China market? Is it necessarily to localize this into Chinese?
You will need to contact Chinese publishers
well, find a partner from China maybe the best way.
really just recruit a partner from China, or search a gig at fivver...
Question
Is there any free site for post ads...?

New Android User needs help

So i just got the P20 Pro as a gift. I have been using Apple phones and this is my first Android. The phone was purchased in China but I live in Canada. The phone is the Chinese version (CLT-AL00). It doesn't even have Google play so I can't download any apps. I googled and found some forum threads on changing firmware version and a service called FunkyHuawei that can change the region. I honestly don't know what to do and could use some help from experienced android users. Thanks in advance to anyone trying to help.

Given your lack of expertise I highly recommend Funkyhuawei. As long as you can follow directions you'll be fine.

Or leave the Chinese firmware and google how to install google stuff, thats easier.
