No way to use the Hotspot unless you install a custom ROM. (At least that's my situation with a Sprint Note5, unlocked on a GSM Network)

Verizon Galaxy Tab use in India?

Hi,
I have recently asked a friend in the US to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab (verizon) for me.
Its a contract device locked for a year with Verizon. I have a few question...
1. Wat connectivity options can I use in India?
2. Can I unlock it? How?
please help.
Thanks
I am in India for work for the next 2 months, and have a Verizon tab, only I am not locked into a contract... I would love to know this as well... I suspended my number for now and have been running only on wifi since I got here, but having a data connection would be amazing for me while I'm in Bombay...
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
I wanna use it in India not only as a wifi device but use a data plan too...
please help...
need to know wat all i need to do to get started...
root it?
deactivate VZW?
Unlock?
custom rom?
please help....
Verstion SGT is CDMA based, so finding good operator for data plan is difficult in india. Tata indicom and RIL is your bet but dont know about their data plan.
For other help regarding rooting, custom Roms, refer SGT development section.
Any Info on the Solution
One of my friends sent me Verizon Galaxy tab and I cannot use it in India. I can't return it as well because the return period is already over!!!
Is there a way I can make the Galaxy Tab P1000-7"inch tablet work in India on Reliance or TATA???
PLEASE HELP ME
Thanks in advance
A quick fix
Hi all sufferers of locked tabs
I had a similar case for rogers tab p1000r
steps to follow
step 1 : Check these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323
step 2 : flash the rom again(optional)
note : network unlock remains even after flashing as /efs is not cleared
Be happy , press thanks

Tmobile rom on AT&T Note 3?

Is this possible to install a tmobile stock rom on the at&t note 3 or will the locked bootloader prevent this? just curious as i'm gonna be moving to tmobile for the unlimited LTE and would like to use the stock apps as well with it. Does anybody know if this is possible? I looked around a little bit and couldn't find any information on doing this.

1. This should be in the help section
2. I've flashed verizon roms on my note 3 without a problem so it's possible. All you'll have to do is update your APN settings. It can't hurt to try it, that's the point of safestrap!
Yeah I'm not rooted so was wondering if the tmobile rom via Odin would fail or not

Help note 4 verizon on tmobile

Apologies in advance if there's a thread for this i can't find it.
--Situation:
I have galaxy note 4 verizon 910v
I switched to tmobile, just swapped Sims everything is fine
---Now what I want to do and is this possible:
Root phone
Put tmobile rom on this device
If this is possible can someone help me I been rooting and flashing Roms for years this is my first time doing it like this
The N910V has its own Roms thread, changing the Sim doesn't change your phone to a N910T from an N910V. Do NOT use N910T Roms unless the Dev specifies that it works for the N910V as well. Enjoy

There is no root method for the 910v I have 1 along with the tmobile version. It's only a root method for the dev edition vzw N4
Thanks guys. There's no root yet for the retail n4 910v??

I quit Verizon and traded my Verizon Note 4 for a T-mobile Note 4. Best purchase I've made lately :highfive:
Verizon locked up their Note 4 'til doomsday.

Is this the right place for Samsung note 9 T-mobile?

Hello All,
It has been a while since I returned back to the forms and seems kinda hard to find the path. . . .
Is this the right place for Samsung note 9 Tmobile? if not, can someone please point me to the correct forums for the T-mobile users who has the Samsung Note 9 Smartphone.
I see a lot of threads for Verizon and ATT and I don't want to be in the wrong place.
Like everyone else, I want to dig into the threads and root my Note 9.

Yes this is the correct place, the threads aren't broken up by carrier anymore also unless you have the Exynos version (which I assume you do not because you said that's on T-Mobile) Root is not available for the Snapdragon variant and I believe it hasn't been since the Galaxy S7?

The Note8 had root... I had a SD Note8 and used the Samfail method to root.

acctualy, the forum is not wrong but your phone is.
so if you thought about rooting it, then you bought the wrong note 9 model.

Yup! You're in the right place! However, there is no root for the US Note 9s with the Snapdragon processor. Only the international versions have unlockable bootloaders and/or root. But the problem with an international version is no warranty and you won't have as great of a signal due to differences in supported radio bands and lack of carrier aggregation. Though some people in the US have had luck with them.
Also once you unlock the bootloader and root, you break Knox, which is permanent. Once that happens you'll never have Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, etc...again.

The Note 8 HAD root. Samfail was patched long ago when Oreo came out. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible to root the Note 8 now.

Yeah, but he'll lose carrier aggregation, so poorer signal strength, and US Warranty. And once rooted, Samsung Pay, etc.
What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Glad I made it here!!!
Thanks for the reply everyone who chimed in.
Here we go again with the no "root" from the 7 edge to this . . .
T-Mobile had this promotion that was hard to pass up so I upgraded.
What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Root
De-Bloat the bundled apps that I will not use
Install recovery tools
Install backup tools (need root)
Pimp out the kernel
It take me awhile to navigate around XDA to look for these tools and such.
I have never used Samsung Pay nor am I onboard with that service.
If anyone knows where I can find some of these tools, please don't hold back because it will take me awhile to get started.
Thanks Again!

appart from using adb to disable packages, none of the above list is possible without root.
nothing has changed regarding if the device is unrootable then these things aren't possible.

Uh....
YOU
CAN'T
ROOT
THIS
PHONE.
Root is not possible. Root will not be possible. You bought a phone that can't and won't be rooted. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible.
You can't have root.
Just in case you want to root the T-Mobile Note 9...you can't.
Ok, no one has provided a root or cooked a Kernel . . .
Are there any rooted roms that were baked?
Silly to ask, but are there any pure android roms for this Note 9?

I'm not sure why you're so confused. The bootloader can be unlocked. So no custom ROMs. NONE. There is no root and never will be.
What you're asking is impossible.
