EXYNOS: I have made SoundMod Magisk Module by Modifying my own mixers_path.xml & mixers_gain.xml
SNAPDRAGON: I have made SoundMod Magisk Module Flashable TWRP (You can use Flashfire) by Modifying original mixer_paths_tavil.xml
provided by louforgiveno
He has Samsung Note 8 T-Mobile
Outdated Download below:Google Drive - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (2017) - Exynos & Snapdragon - SoundMod
Make your own soundmod by following my guide here:
dualspeaker soundmod tutorial guide - all devices - root only
!!! ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP OF YOUR FILES BEFORE REPLACING THEM !!!
If you didn't, no worries I have Attached my Backup (EXYNOS & SNAPDRAGON)...
You can Use it with MAGISK (Snapdragon device, doesn't have Magisk)
or
You can Use it with TWRP
or
Just extract the MANUAL zip and get the mixers and place them in your system/etc & set permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--) ...
reboot...
Re-Tested on my Note 8 Exynos...
Still Works Great... :silly:
Let me know if you face any issues...
SNAPDRAGON MOD:
I Thank you for very much your help user louforgiveno ...
--- TWRP file is flashable by flashfire reported by users...
--- TWRP Bluetooth & Headphones (the file name having "_BT_HD_" ) Gain Modified by member rickberg, revised by me...
EXYNOS MOD:
--- Merged All Modules and produced one, DIY for volume change...
--- Top Speaker as it is, created TWRP as well...
- disabled bottom speaker upon request from Motawa88...
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The MOD can be used with any Equalizers, but wouldn't recommend it...
If using Equalizer will cause crackles and noise, stop using and report back please so I could decrease the default volume...

I use this version https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2kFWHz2n1w0dVBEOFVNRDE1STg/view?usp=drivesdk
The pics will show the "main" items to change for volume increase (bass and treble settings to your liking....just be sure to enable the tabs of the items you want to hear changes to)
And lastly remember each sound output will have its own config page ie headset, bluetooth etc.

Magisk Requires Root Access as well writing to the path /system/etc ... even through ADB, you must type ADB root...
However It might be possible if the temp recovery still works, I can give you no guarantees that it will work but as far as I know it shouldn't trigger Knox nor void the warranty...
I will reset my phone to stock and attempt to do things with no root / custom recovery and let you know...

I shall be thankful to you if it is possible without root. Don't understand why Samsung keeps the max volume so low. Iphones have enough filling sound.

I never had crackles meaning your song might be amplified or boosted... Perhaps you're using equalizer... I could lower the volume by half... But first tell me more about the crackle... Top speaker or bottom...?

Top speaker or bottom...? Currently headphones and Bluetooth have no boost for ear safety... I could slightly boost it...
V3 will be released fixing any crackles/noise, with a slight boost of Bluetooth and headphones...

That I have to experiment,
However from one bluetooth/headphone to another the sound level will be different, in other words... In a cheap bluetooth/headphones 100% crackles and noise will be present which is why I said, *Slight increase*,
If you insist on increasing it beyond the safe level, I won't stop you...
Have some patience...
You didn't tell me the crackle coming from which speaker?

Keeping my eye on this thread, hopefully in time you can get a non rooted version working which also does not trigger knox or any modification indicators

Same, I would love to make it work without tripping KNOX, root on my S6edge+ used to disable S Health, Samsung Pay and a lot of goodies that I wanted to use. So if there is a way, I'm all ears My Note8 is currently fully stock.

What is the difference between this mod and the earlier one from ProtoDeVNan0

[Q] Sound fix (?)

Hi.
Is there an app that addresses the sound issue with SGS?
wow, thats an epic op =))
Im afraid to ask - what issues?
Im going to take a stab and guess that you are asking about the sound in video recordings? If so, no.
Ha no no... I saw many posts about the poor sound quality the SGS has due to some decisions that samsung made. The hardware is somewhat crippled by software and the sound output with headphones, for example, is somewhat low-quality. These posts I mentioned were all about how to make the SGS sound great by altering some code.
I don't know where to find these posts again and i don't know where to find an app for that.
Cheers.
Im more curious if there is an app that makes people read the stickies and post in the right section

I apologize if this thread is inappropriate
there's an app in the market called audioboost or something similar which needs root an increase headphone intensity and mic sesitivity. it does little for speaker volume

You make it sound like the SGS reproduces the same audio quality as a tape player. Is a very good sound quality, it only needs a good EQ and better headphones. The best one is the one from PowerAMP, search the Market. It has tone correction and 10 band EQ, with the right settings the output sound will be excelent, combined with Senheiser headphones you will never talk bad about the SGS sound again . Try it.
Cheers.
Not very helpful guys are we?
Here's the thread OP is looking for: [REF]Headphones sound quality fix and improvements for Galaxy S
well if he posted in the right forum to start with then people may answer the question properly
Sorry guys, thought it had to do with android developmet.
If there's a moderator, please move this thread to the correct forum.
Once again, I apologize for the mistake.
Thanks for the help
You are right in your question; the sound quality in SGS is terrible and supercurio is preparing a fix for this in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806195
However the development has stopped from some time, I think he needs some more motivation
I hope he or someone else continues the project.
Regards.

If by a small chance that you are talking about the SamServMode app, well you can download it from the Market. I can't remember the servicemode code myself and uses this app to get into Service Mode and play around with the audio configurations. Sorry guys for keeping this thread alive.
You can also try the Mixget app available from the market. it will allow you to download update_mixget.zip and just change the name to update.zip, flash it thru 2e/3e recovery. then you should be able to play with the lib_alsa settings and also set profile for headset, default and boost.

I didn't understand how the mixget works + I have no idea what is alsa.
I've also read the post about this fix that you enter through the phoe codes, it resets every time I reboot the phone.
AFAIK, mixget uses the same principle on the codes that you saw, the one using ADB or a terminal emulator. mixget is easy to use, just download from market. when installed, go to the alsa tab, it'll tell you to download it. just push the button. once downloaded, rename the update_mixget.zip to update.zip. then go to recovery (Volume Up + Home Key + Power Button) then chosse apply update.zip using the volume rocker, press home key to flash the update.zip. Then once completed, open mixget and go to alsa tab, the ideal setting, AFAIR, is 62 on the headset. just play with the other settings to see what would fit your hearing.

[Solved] Problem with Music Player and other apps using headset

Hello Eveyone
I've been having a really strange problem (as I guess it's a problem): my music player's sound output when using a headset is really quite, like 50% of what I had on my iPhone, even when the I'm at max volume. The problem is the same when I use skype, twitch, whatever app I could use. The speakers are working fine, so I guess it's a headset connection problem.
I've used the headset given with my Huawei P7-L10 but also my beats Solo HD and the result is still the same.
Has anyone an idea or a solution to my problem?
thanks everyone

when you use the headphones you get a mesage on the screen saying that the music level could be dangerous but if you accept you can continue turning up the volume
but somewhere I read that if you access to "engeniering mode" you can change the volume parameters, the problem is that I don´t know how..and nobody knows...
to access ingeniering mode press *#*#2846579159#*#*
Anyway the audio output is very low. In the b133 it improves a little , it's louder, but there's no a really big difference. Don't worry, happens to everyone .

Hello, is the space between the # and the rest of the line necessary or not? cause after seeing it in another post I've tried it but it made the sound a lot more quiet that what I had before and it was impossible for me to get the sound back up to its normal volume without a reset

Yeah that's what I thought although it doesn't seem to work with my device, I might give it another try when I get home from school. I've noticed that the sound Is louder when I restore than when I used that trick, but then again I might have done something wrong, I'll double check. I tried it on b126 and b133 but as I'm back on 121 I'll do that tonight.

[Q] Headphones/AUX volume boost?

Is there any way to boost the headphones and AUX volume like there is on most other phones? Usually I'd just increase a number in the mixer_paths.xml file, but so far nothing I've changed has increased the volume. It's a shame because the audio out of this phone is superb (as good as my iPhone 6), it just needs to be a little louder
Try changing region to UK, see if that unlocks max volume.
Some regions are locked to a low setting.

How would I do that? Does the Pure Edition have capped volume?
Go to settings, language and input. It's the top option.
This could change the warning about volume, it'll say something like "setting volume above this level could make you deaf" and let you ignore it. Had this on an old mp3 player too.

I just tried it and there's no change. I think I've reached the maximum volume. It's loud, but I'd say it's about 25% less loud than my iPhone 6. Editing the mixer_paths.xml file is generally how you increase the volume over what the manufacture has it set at. I've tried editing about everything in it, though, and have experienced no change. Which is frustrating because the sound coming out of this thing is amazing, it just needs to be slightly louder.
That's a shame, I've had the same problem with monitor type headphones too.
On a pair of Porta Pro I'd easily go deaf though.
I guess you could DIY something with this:
http://www.banggood.com/LM4881-2-x-...e-Amplifier-Board-Stereo-HP-Amp-p-933279.html
I have some other stuff from Sure, they're pretty good.
=)
I had to reboot to make the changes work.
Going from Swedish to English UK, and rebooting, I get the warning about volume again.
So now level 25 on my car stereo is loud, not barely audible...
I know this is an old thread, but I was bothered by this issue and found a solution that requires root access. You'll need to modify mixer_paths.xml in order to get louder audio, so if people are still interested I can post the exact steps.
Yes please x 1000! I'm getting my moto x on friday and this is the one thing I was concerned about (low headphone vol). I would really appreciate the steps on how to boost the headphone volume!

Well you still need to have root in order to edit the mixer_paths.xml
So navigate to system/etc/mixer_paths.xml and open any text editor available to you in order to make the changes. Now you need to find these two lines:
- <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" /> and <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" />
Now I changed the value from 84 to 92. At first I put it higher, but keep in mind that this also changes the in- call volume as well. So play around with the values till you get a desired result.
Good luck, cheers

Thank you bro! It worked!
euhm is it me or did you list 2 times the same line to be changed?
I can only find the RX1 line once in mixer_paths.xml or maybe i need new glasses

This not work on android 6.0
Outher solution?

Is there a way to make the speakers even louder?

I'm rooted and I have tasker. The phone is for an older person who can't see. I'm using tasker to automatically turn the volumes and turn the speakerphone on whenever someone calls but I would still like it to be louder.
Is there any sort of way to do that... like how MX Player seems to be able to up the volume on movies even more than a regular video player at full phone volume?
Deleted.
Change the value in mixer_paths.xml. Google search on how to do it or do speaker gain using a kernel with the capabilities.

I'll look this up. I assume I just need a file manager that supports root access to edit it. I know I've edited some xml files before to do different things but I can't remember the exact app I used. I'm thinking ES File Explorer.

just use viper4android. its the loudest youll be able to get them, and itll raise the quality of sound. there's a thread for it in the apps and themes section. and you will need root.

Well, I think I found the variable I need to adjust and it doesn't seem to be making any difference.
<ctl name="RX7 Digital Volume" value="84" />
I've set that as high as 168 and it still sounds the same to me. (rebooted too just in case).

I'll check it out. I really didn't want to install an app for it but if it works and doesn't suck down the battery life than I'm game.

it works, battery drain is not noticeable, and sound quality is a HUGE improvement, especially via headphone. after you flash it(or install into /system/priv-app/) open it and itll ask to install the driver, press yes. after installing the driver(i pick highest quality) youll have to reboot for it to take effect. after you boot up, open the app and look at its options(press the top right), pick ui setting then pick expert. itll give you more choices for you to set up

Is there anyway to get rid of it completely after installed? I granted it access to root to install the driver and after rebooting. "Ok, Google" doesn't work anymore. It just shows on the screen "Can't open microphone."
I want the phone to be extra loud but not at the expense of the Google Now voice commands no longer working.

my ik google works fine, and with the screen off and not plugged in as well.
you might have to install a selinux mode changer app as well, i think it needs it on the n6. if no more selunux mode changer apps available in the play store anymore(new rule), there are a few kernels that set it as permissive.
Viper was a bust for me (at least from a new user perspective). I uninstalled the driver and uninstalled the app and the Mic is still broken. "Can't open microphone." on every voice command or even tapping the mic icon on the Google Now bar.
It looks like I get to reset to factory defaults.

you tried rebooting? also, try retraining it to your voice(long press any empty space on the homescreen, press settings, press voice, ok google detection, delete voice model).

Note 7 How to edit mixerpath Loud Sound

In the note 7 mixerpath the file has changed since the Note 4. Can anyone help on how to edit the file to make the bluetooth louder and the speaker?
The old file from Note 4 does not work due to the changes and I know that you had to change the RX1 & 2 (i believe been tooooo long) lines under speaker. I see RX command a lot so not sure if I or others who want to do the mod have to change each one (there a lot through the file unlike the old file)?
I've searched all over with a file or steps and none found for note 7.

This isn't technically to make it louder but it does exactly that imo and you get dual speaker sound. I did not create this. I can't remember who did or I'd give create.

I've seen people list or bring up problems with the dual speaker mod. With this version that you linked; Have you experienced any issues with calls etc?

Sound is skipping and lower than before. Is there a revert file?
Nvm. Flashed any mod sound mod and it fixed sound.

Download FX Browser and FX Browser Root Add-on from the playstore.
Use FX Browser to navigate to System/etc and then in the upper right corner, touch the menu button and then choose mount read/write.
Afterwards, navigate to System/etc/mixer_paths_tasha.xml.
Touch the edit button in the upper right corner and then touch the edit button. A prompt should come up telling you that you can only save the changes if the file has read/write permission (you should from the first step).
Click on the pencil looking icon and then find. Enter <path name="headset-44.1">. Once you are at that snippet at code, look for "RX1 Digital Volume" value="76" and "RX2 Digital Volume" value="76".
Just change the "76" values to a value you are comfortable with. I use 95, which can get VERY LOUD, so be cautious if your headphones aren't very powerful. After that, reboot and profit!
(BTW, this should work with any Snapdragon 820 device, as I have had two so far (Note 7 and G5), and they both worked fine. You obviously need root for any of this to work.
