have broken volume down button so i can't select "choose update from sd card"
But i can swipe phone mode to recovery
DOES ANYBODY HAVE AN IDEA TO ROOT MY PHONE WITHOUT THE VOL.DWN BUTTON

Get into recovery menu.
Choose the "wipe data factory reset" option with the volume keys.
Press HOME to select.
i cant open download mode or recovery now wtf!?!?!?!?

I installed clockmod recovery v6.0.1.3 through the default recovery menu by selecting "install update from sd card" now the phone loads onto cwm and the hard keys work only to navigate through the options and does not allow to select any option! whenever i boot the phone it shows the Samsung logo and boots onto cwm!! i havent tryied installing any custom ROMS this is my first time.... please helppppppp....

1st : download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1279136&stc=1&d=1345786322 and save this in ur external sd card
2nd: then go to stock recovery mode on ur phone i.e vol up + home button + power button.press these 3 buttons till samsung logo come up.then u can release the buttons
3rdnce in the stock recovery,choose update from zip. and choose the zip that u have just downloaded.wait for sometimes. after ur phone reboots..u will have a rooted phone.
PS:in stock recovery mode. vol up and down are used for navigation and power button used for choosing.

hi guys, ok i joined yesterday....a NOOB, please someone help a NOOB! a small question: rooting my S5300, everything runs fine until i must select "APPLY UPDATE ZIP", after selecting "APPLY UPDATE FROM SD CARD". According to Kies it is on the sd card, but it does not appear on the menu when i am in recovery mode....thanking you for your help!

Press Vol UP+Home+Power Button And Hold Untill You See Model No LOGO
Going Now To The Recovery Mood
Navigate By Vol UP,Vol Down, Select Apply Update From SD Card..
Press Home Button To Select
After That You'll See Some Lines Of Samsung Phones Model No..
And Then Itll Say Congrats Your Phone Has Been Rooted
Please Reboot After This..

Copy it to your sd card
Go to stock recovery by pressing vol. up button + home button + power button
Use Volume up and down to move up and down and home button to select
Press update from sdcard and find this file
Your phone is rooted
Unbrick Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570I (Soft Brick)
1. Download this: S5570I.rar
Extract it
2. Open Odin3_v1.84.exe
3. Press BOOTLOADER and choose DefaultCalData....
4. Press PIT and choose tassve_0623.pit
5. Press PDA and choose PDA_S5570I....
6. Press PHONE and choose MODEM_S5570I....
7. Press CSC and choose GT-S5570I-MULTI....
8. Shut down your phone if it isn't
9. Reboot it in ODIN Mode (Volume Down + Home + Power)
10. Press Volume Up to enter The Odin Download Mode
11. Now the ODIN should recognize your phone (Yellow text comes up in the program LEFT upper corner)
12. Press start
13. Just wait and your phone will auto reboot.
Change the language by pressing the bottom right button when booted, because it will start at some language i don't know
PLEASE DO BOOTLOADER BEFORE PIT OR IT WILL HANG!!

Get CWM recovery on Samsung Galaxy Mini
Download CWM_GT-S5570i.zip
Place it in your SD card
Just go to Update from SD card in stock recovery
You will have to flash through stock recovery every time if you want to go to CWM recovery
Now you can flash ROMS!!

For stock rom is about the same as unbricking. You can use that to go back to Android version 2.3.6
For flashing kernel/custom rom i would usually use ClockWorkMod Recovery

that doesn't work for me: i get "installation aborted" message
also I've tried SuperOneClickv2.3.3 and it gets stuck on step #7...
I've installed samsung usb drivers, android SDK kit, turned on usb debugging mode, unmounted sd card... even tried to flash in stock recovery mode. nothing
i usually have "lots of crap" learning curve with every single one obstacle that can occur so please please, help me
