Any way to disable the blinking red notification LED when battery is low? - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

It's incredibly annoying: one warning should be enough, not a blink every few seconds.
I googled and found this post:
Ok, open up note pad on your pc and paste the following:
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/red/max_brightness
echo 225 > /sys/class/leds/green/max_brightness
echo 225 > /sys/class/leds/blue/max_brightness
name it max brightness save and close it, transfer this file to your sd card then download rom toolbox from the play store and install
Rom Toolbox
in rom toolbox open up scripter, hit the + sign and import the file max brightness from sd card....then long press the script and set it to run at boot....hey presto no more blinking red light when battery drops below 15%.
NOTES:
This script will TOTALLY DISABLE THE RED LED, so if you are using the red led for any notifications it will not blink!
Do not change the values!
When battery reaches 15% you will still get the pop up message and sound to plug in your charger.
Please do a BACKUP before trying this!!
I give credit to the Op on this thread for the idea:

As this was intented for the Xperia S, I have no idea of this will still work for the XZ1 compact. The lack of feedback makes me hesitant to try it myself, since I don't accidentally want to brick a brand new device

This can't brick your phone in any way. Rebooting the device will restore those values to default.

KaiserNotification v2.02

Found a new version on Modaco...don't know whether anyone noticed:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=2400
Kaiser Notifications (for HTC Tytn II*)
Version 2.02
* This should also work on the HTC Touch Cruise, please let me know if you try it and it works okay. Works with Windows Mobile 6.1 and the .NET compact frame 2.0 or 3.5.
Version 2.02 - Fixes an error relating to date time parsing when using certain cooked ROMs. If you do not have this problem no need to upgrade.
Whats new in version 2.0?
Audio and vibrate reminder alerts for new items
Version 2 now allows you to add audio and vibrate reminder alerts for unread items. Most mobile phones do this and I started to miss this on the Kaiser. Mobile phones will intermitently beep/vibrate if you have new items but haven't seen them, whereas Windows Mobile generally sounds once when the item arrives but gives no additional sounds after that and leaves it to a flashing LED to get your attention. With this version your Kaiser will play a wav file of your choice and/or vibrate every so many minutes for new items.
To avoid battery drain and annoying those around you in your absence, the phone will increase the time span between reminders, the default is: Item arrives, phone alerts as normal. If after 5 minutes you haven't read the message, it will play the selected wav file and/or vibrate. If the message still goes unread it will then alert again after waiting for 10 minutes, then it will alert after a wait of 15 minutes, then 20 minutes, all the way up to 60 minutes, where it will then alert every hour. These settings are configurable.
Off schedule
You can now set a period where the Kaiser Notification program should not interupt you, typically this would be used for overnight. LEDs stop flashing, and no alerts are played for unread items. You can also select to turn the mobile phone off during this period which is great for saving battery power and knowing you are not going to be woken by a ringing phone.
What's fixed?
When roaming onto networks the LED will now flash normally.
What's still broken?
I've had no joy finding out how to flash the LED amber. You may still select amber as an option, however it will flash green. Hopefully I will get to the bottom of this soon.
As per a few requests I have not been able to adjust the flash rates for the LED, or have them light static while charging.
Installation Instructions
The program must be installed on 'Device' to work, it currently does not work if installed on storage card.
1) Copy the cab file to the device and run it. Install to device and not a storage card. If you have the first version it will be removed automatically.
2) From Programs click the new icon for 'Kaiser Notfication Setup'.
3) On first running the setup program the LEDs will automatically be set to the pre-defined defaults, change as required. Set up a schedule and reminder alerts as required.
A link is placed in the Windows/Startup folder during install that will ensure the tiny program that controls the LEDs is loaded automatically when the Kaiser is soft reset or turned off and back on.
Uninstalling
Use Remove Programs to uninstall. After uninstall a soft reset is necessary to get the LEDs flashing as per the original HTC settings.
Other Information
Once this program is installed the LED will not light steady during a charge. This functionality will of course be restored after uninstalling.
Wi-Fi isn't indicated with this program as the device needs to be on to have Wi-Fi enabled anyway so you can see the connectoin status on the display.
Scheduling Mobile Phone to Turn On
(Update: On Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs with Radio version 1.64.08.21 this is no longer an issue) If you set a schedule and select to turn the mobile phone on at the end of the scheduled period, please note the Kaiser will come fully on before timing out and going back to standby. This behaviour I can not change and is triggered by the radio chip. Please be careful if using this as option as when the phone turns on it could be subject to accidental button presses, and of course I can not be responsible for any charges you may incur if the phone accidently dials out.
alert/vibrate reminders
The alert/vibrate reminder is silenced as soon as you read one or more unread items. You do not need to read all unread items to silence the alert/vibrate reminder. The idea of the reminder is to get you back to look at your phone for new items that have arrived but you have missed, once you read a single item the reminders are cancelled as it has done it's job of getting your attention. Should any new items arrive afterwards, the alerts will start again.
Sound files
You may select any wav file for the alert sound. Only wav files that are in the Windows folder are supported. You may of course add a wav to the Windows folder to use your own sound.
Any problems let me know in the support forum. Enjoy.

I've had it forever, and I'm using 2.02.
I was hoping this was a new version, KN doesn't work 100% with WM 6.1.

Hmmm... I couldn't find it on the forum and therefore posted it (knowing it was dated march 2008). I've used the 1.0 version up to now, did you try it with that version because I have no issues with it on any ROM I tried (and I try them all, almost ROM update weekly).

This version is there from 3.5.2008. I am still waiting that he will resolve some issues about the led flashing.

No, I'll try to find the older version. This one basically works, but I think I *only* get one LED notification after that.. It's very odd.. if I have SMS set to Blue and Email set to Green, and I get an email first, I'll get a green blink. After that I'll only get a green blink. After a soft reset, if I get an SMS first, I'll get blue blinks after..
Never any left blinks, such as missed call etc..
But at least it doesn't blink forever like nueLED did, and it'll uninstall without leaving junk all over. Also it doesn't blink incessantly and still works with TomTom, so I continue to use it... but I'll try v1.0
@ Mikulec
Which blinking issue do you mean exactly?
When your Leds wont stop blinking after receiving a new SMS/MMS just try these.
Go into your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/State/Messages
There are Folders named SMS and MMS, in these Folder is another Folder called unread.
There is a key called Count, set it to zero in both folders and the leds will stop endless blinking.
Cheers
Damn,
I read your post 2 or 3 days ago, thought I'll give a try cause I was searching for such an app (switching off sounds for specific time periods, i.e. in the morning to use SpoonAlarm, which uses a "notification" before activating, sort of iritating when still sleepy ).
Then I forgot and needed 30 minutes of intensive forum search to put my hands on it . I try it now, thanks for the tip.
EDIT: damn the led system isn't handling amber at all, not even when the phone is charging, that's lame :-/. And you can't do w/o it seems. I wanted this "scheduled switch off notification" .
i will keep my post short
"KaiserNotifications is must to have in Kaiser"
I have a Tilt and I don't know if my phone is the problem or what? but I cannot select "blue" for Bluetooth or "red" for unread SMS. I know there's an issue with the amber light, but my phone is only blinking green and nothing else, no matter what changes do I make. Is this software 100% compatible with the AT&T Tilt?
Thank you, brother. it is useful
TU...
But after 1 month using I instal nueLED and for me it's the best software..
i can't see amber color any more
I Installed KaiserNotification v2.02 but i can't see the amber color any more, i can see it only when it charges and before entering windows.
Is there any solution in registry?
Thx in advanded

You were right! It's not working now :S
Thankyou for sharing this app!
I've been checking out this program and it's source code. The problem seems to be some sort of power management that turns the leds off after about 2 seconds when the screen is off and the phone is on battery.
The kernel exports some files to /sys/bus/i2c/devices/2-001a/ that can be used to control the leds. One file in particular is led_onoff. I've found that while on battery, if I do "# echo 0 > led_onoff; echo 1 > led_onoff" from a console, it will reset the leds and turn them on before the system turns them off after about 2 seconds when on battery. Everything seems to work as expected while on charge.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot too much further than that. It looks to be something either in the kernel or android system files but I'm not about to start cooking my own kernel just to check it out. It's probably also a bit beyond my whole understanding of the code.
But, I've been able to implement a fairly bad hack to get it working in the 'blink' mode. Basically it just adds in some code to reset the leds before starting the next cycle which is enough to get it going (same as the command above). It has the side effect of making all the leds flash for a split second when they come on and uses a timer to control the blink so the phone will constantly waking every few seconds to control the leds and I'm not sure how that will affect the battery. Also works best with a blink time of 2 seconds on obviously because power management turns them off after then anyway.
Download it below if you want to try it out:

Good aproach! Take into account that is normal that the kernel switch off leds on battery... think in the leds allways on... I have had some kernel-related atempts to correct this... but atm no luck.
Regards!
When the screen is off and the device is on battery it is doing some sort of polling every few seconds to check and reset the LEDs rather than just a trigger when the screen turns off and that is what makes the app not work.
I tried a few different ways to reset the LEDs but the only way that would work is to force them off by writing a 0 into led_onoff followed immediately by a 1 into led_onoff. It wasn't enough to just echo 1 > led_onoff, I had to do a 0 first. However, with power connected, just the echo 1 > led_onoff was all I needed.
As far as I could tell, the led_onoff seems to only part of the 970 device code. I'm guessing that the other devices don't have an issue because they don't have to activate the LEDs in that way.
One other thing I tried was removing all write privileges to those files after turning on the LEDs to see if the system was writing a value into them to turn them off. They were still turned off so I kind of figured it's something in the kernel itself manually resetting things.
this should be good if work in customs ROM...to notify us for new message and etc

Did you try the one I posted in post 9? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28571222&postcount=9
It sort of works in blink mode (best with repeating non-fading pulse with a lit time of 2000ms).
I'm using it in Zeus v6.35 at the moment.

Hi, please test the attached APK. For now I have worked exclusively on the mode "repeat fading pulse". Please unintall the application if you have it already installed.
I used it for 2 days now and it seems to work for me, so report bugs, but only for the mode repeat fading pulse if have problems. I will try to fix also the other modes, when I have time.
PS: of course all credits go to the original creator of Lg Notification application. I only try to fix this to work on Lg Optimus Black on Gingerbread.

There is a problem with repeat fading pulse. It eats too much battery. Constant light it is much battery friendly.

[Q] Wake up on charging

I like to keep the battery in my Note as charged up possible which means I plug it into the charger most times I come home and so I have to unplug it whenever I leave ... and so both coming and going the phone display turns on when I plug/unplug it and 99.9% of the time I don't want this. If the display is off it should just stay that way! For some reason I find this unwanted behavior so obnoxious I was going to get rid of the phone ... until I realized that getting a new phone might likely have the same problem since it seems to be quite common. I'm not so sensitive to other things not quite working the way I would like, but that one is so obviously crazy and happens so many times per day that it bugs me more and more each day. I've never seen this discussed, so my main confusion on this issue is why this doesn't seem to bother anybody else.
Anyway I noticed in the Revolt Rom there is a feature in the list called "Wake up on charging".
Does having this feature imply that one can disable it ... i.e. not have it wake up when the charger is plugged in?
Also does this mean that you can also disable Wake up when charging is terminated by unplugging the charger?
Please say yes and I will just die now and go to heaven.
If my interpretation of this feature is correct ... can most modern roms do this or is this unique to the Revolt rom?
Thanks
~Paul

I have found option in developer menu but that states to keep device awake.
Usually screen dims and sleeps after a while.
I press powerbutton to put screen into sleep.
Another workaround could be to use tasker and program it to set screen off upon adding charger.

Yes it dims after 10 minutes (in my case since that is my sleep delay setting), but why should I waste 10 minutes of power or why should I have to press the power button to avoid this? My point is that this makes no sense. It would make way more sense for the screen to turn off when I tell it to and not otherwise.
> Another workaround could be to use tasker and program it to set screen off upon adding charger.
Now you're talking. A suggestion that actually worked. I had never heard of tasker. I paid the 3 bucks, then spent an hour learning how it works and figuring out the right combination of profile contexts and tasks ... and then it didn't work. I was using button number 26 which was supposed to be the power button but I never figured out why this didn't turn off the screen on the N7000. (Surprisingly tasker does not have a task identified as turning off the display!). Eventually however I stumbled across the fact that the task item called "system lock" turned off the display, and that did the trick for me. It was a minor expense and a lot of work to get my phone to behave the way I believe it should have to begin with ... but I'm happy that I prevailed in the end. Thanks very much for your suggestion.

Haven't seen that option in stock-based ROMs but CM ROMs can do this.
I'm currently using CM10.2 and the screen stays off while connecting/disconnecting the charger

I think jellybam had this option and surely some other ROMs have it too, but I can't help You with 10.1 ROMs as I don't use them myself.
However You might wanna give a chance to 10.2. I think it's pretty good for daily usage as I'm using it like 3 weeks now. All the major bugs have been fixed. The only unsupported apps are the navigation ones like tom tom and automapa. However forevermaps still works.

Point two is not a bug. In my customization "N" mark was not present on previous android versions too.
I can also confirm point 13 which is real pain in the ass.
Ive noticed that camera flickers in low light conditions which is also present on recorded video but pictures have less noise in my opinion.

I also encountered all except 9 and 12 hope they will fix this soon
Hi,
I have a TX with update 4.3 (the USA firmware that was posted here at XDA), and about the 100% charge reboot problem, it only occured to me after rooting the phone (First fastboot kernel with CWM, then install SU and after restorting the kernel from the 4.3 ROM).
When I flash again 4.3 (wipping everything) and staying like that (no root) I don't have the 100% charge reboot problem.
So I think that the 100% charge reboot problem is related to the root process.

Can't be. I haven't rooted just installed the generic CE and left my phone on overnight and this morning was up late as a consequence.
See my post on Sony Support http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-T-TX/Xperia-T-also-got-charging-bug-4-3/td-p/562469

Point two is not a bug. In my customization "N" mark was not present on previous android versions too.
I can also confirm point 13 which is real pain in the ass.
Ive noticed that camera flickers in low light conditions which is also present on recorded video but pictures have less noise in my opinion.

About 13 - phone turns off after charged to 100%.
I haven't yet experienced it.. Are there people who doesn't have that issue? Maybe it's related to previous bootloader unlocking/flashing kernels/mods/doing some risky stuff without any practical knowledge about it?
In other words - if you have that issue please report - have you flashed custom kernels in the past/done some major modifications ? Maybe you have phone from second hand and previous owner put there not original battery? Let's gather all the info we can.
4.3 bugs
NO NFC ICON WHEN ON-BUT WORKS
NO ICON WHEN PLUG EARPHONES-BUT WORKS
100% CHARGES..REBOOT-experience 2 times,phone not rooted,flash USA region firmware,
BLACK BOX VOLUME-SOLUTION-APPLY ANOTHER THEME AND RESTART PHONE.
4 main bugs seen from now
PS:which region firmware are you using plz?
Point 3: the volume bar is black because you used theme that dowloaded from play store. Just apply stock theme and reboot, the volume bar will show correctly

No NFC icon or earphone icon is not a bug.Android system itself removed them in 4.3(or the system doesn't show them at all - Sony adds it). CM10.2 and CM11 don't show the icons either.
The earphone icon in 4.1 is shown by an Sony-made app,not the Android system.

Some questions about MIUI, kindly help thanks

HI everyone, I would love to ask these questions on the xiaomi.eu, or global.account.xiaomi.com, or miui.it/forum but there is no way to get an eamil from them and register the account.
I've bought an Mi8 and I've some issues I would solve, thank you for your kind solutions:
1) I'm using whatsapp web and every time I got a message the screen is turning on, I'm readying it by pc and I don't needs it turns on, even when I'm around with phone. There is any way to disable this and leve the screen off? Thanks
2) IN past my phone had a rgb led for notifications, really useful cause I know already if I don't need to check the phone (colours of something not important), I know now the phone has just a white led, there is any app who can use the screen on phone to show a coloured dot when the screen is off?
3) In previous phone my contacts started with number 0, to 9 and then A to Z, now I have A-Z,1-9. The only solution is to search for another dialer app?
4) there is any app/way to show a net meter on top of the phone? May you recomend something?
Thank you a lot for support!
nobody can help here?
5) HOw is possible to chenge the folder for the received bluetotoh files?
1. Setup it in app and in notification settings.
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/app-amoled-notification-light-t3943715
3. Write A1-A9
4. Try Magisk and edxposed module.
