I think the essential things to do is:
1. Have a powerful pc, at least 8GB of ram.
2. Install a linux distribution.

{MIUI ROM} Development (Not run yet)

Hi all!!!
We are trying to port this ROM from this instruction
What changed:
The kernel from CM7
Rules of some liby
cleaned modules
Suffered a partial library of cyanogen
It is based on rum from the motorolla deffy
Partially edited framvork - on that knowledge was enough
Any help is appreciated!!!
Now we need a working kernel to run the ROM
NOT RUN YET!!!
test ROM LINK
Only with a aproppiate kernel runs in ob???

You mean you people are trying to make MIUI cm7 custom rom for lg p970 based upon those tutorials, right ? And that link of flashable zip you have given is a test build for p970?
.... just wanted some clarifications not mentioned in first post.
i think it's a zip to replace archives, libs, and make a bootable alpha rom.
Enviado desde mi P970 con LiGux 3.2 Beta 2 usando Tapatalk.
it's basically a tut to mod the X10. well, if a good dev doesn't work on it, it will never lead
LOL that "Test ROM Link" is dangerous. Someone is going to flash it and come crying. I would change the name of the linked text and specify what exactly is the zip (if just files, if a P970 ROM without kernel...)
If just a kernel is missing, go contact knzo!
I do not understand... is that a MIUI ROM?? or a CM7 ROM??
is there some progress?

no..there is none...though there are many ROM porting guides round xda,but most of them works for porting "standard" ROMs.we have only 2 ROMs -CM7 (AOSP) nd stock FroYo.u should try the guide attached and u will notfind manyspecified files needed for porting.
if porting was so easy as replacing the files and booting up, there would have been none "RECOGNIZED DEV". boot up the ROM nd it will boot up into your existing ROM (u will lose the data though)
i am NOT bashing the idea behind this thread. it is a result of the impatience for ROMs that ALL of us face.
if any1 is having a fast internet connection with Ubuntu, u can obviously try and give a try to MAKE an AOSP. trust me,it would be a bit more convincing. there are many nice guides for AOSP ROM compiling and u can give it a try even in a VM.
i again repeat, i am NOT trying to bash this thread...

[ Guide / Script ] Auto-Porter

WINDOWS
Note: Tested on Windows 8
1) 7-Zip
2) Winmerge
3) Notepad++
4) Java SE Development Kit
5) Place on your Desktop in a folder.
This script comes with instructions for each step, It is the MIUI auto-porter modified for general use with CM10 based roms.
It will say a bunch of stuff about MIUI on the splash-screen at the start, Ignore it.
Any Rom that uses CM10 as a base can be ported to this device using this script.
Download: Auto-porter
I know It's not a new rom update but I figured you folks would like it better, to test it out go to AvatarRoms site or some other CM10 based rom and try your hand at porting!
Some roms will have TW framework or other things like this and that must be taken care of manually, so for more complex ports you will need a good understanding of how to port and diff and xml editing and so on; but for very basic things or to create a quick port to assess what kind of potential work would need to be done, how compatible your device is with a base; this is a good place to start.
Hello
We can port any rom based on CM10 with this ? Like Paranoid Rom ??

Sometimes the foreign rom is just not compatible as a base, you will see results as you experiment and find which phones are most 'similar' to yours
If anyone has successfully ported a rom with auto-porter that boots and is somewhat functional or functional, then please post and share the details here. I personally do not know how to port a rom, or make a rom etc., But I am willing to learn how to use the auto-porter in this thread if someone is willing to point me in the right direction. Like which base to use, and what modifications need to be done and so on...
the tmobile s3 is based from the same chipset, should try there to see

It might work with CM9, worth a try.
May I ask why CM9? CM7 is much more stable on these phones.

k, Thanks
ppl, correct me if im wrong, but I think its easiest if you flash only the system partition.
but again, i wouldnt do it unless im sure that the bootloader is expected to work with that ROM. best is to recompile the ROM you're using yourself and see if the Kernel name changes under About Phone

I want to test my own KERNEL not a custom ROM. If you flash a corrupted kernel you can hardbrick your device with ease. Imagine you develop ur own kernel, flashed it and youre device just turned into useless piece of electronic. Terrible.

[Q] DualBoot Android & WM (Xperia X1)

---1Hi. A lot of X1 owners can boot WM and also Android. How do you do it?
I don't want to replace WM. I want to boot Android (Gingerbread or highter) or CyanogenMod just using "haret.exe".
Where can I download it?
---2This video show the dualboot through the project by Neopeek, an XDA user.
The app uses Haret but it's an Alpha version, do you know a newer Neopeek app?
---3I have a Toshiba G910, it's very similar to X1, HTC Touch Pro 2 and HTC Tytn II.
These devices can boot also latest Android versions and CyanogenMod, but I think they replace WM...
I would try on mine (I read about XDAndroid ang GenY DualBoot)

Just search the Android Development thread for EXT3 ROMs.

Thanks, EXT3 is the type of partition? Which Rom do you use?

EXT3 ROMs are the ones that run on your SD card. I'd recommend SenseDroid. I find it to be the most stable.

Thanks Marchintosh.
I don't want to intstall permanently Android. So do only EXT3 roms run from SD with "haret"?
Can anyone advice me good Roms?
Anyway Neopeek is not contactable from Xda and his site not seem to work.
BrianXP7 said:
Yes, EXT3 ROMs are the most popular dual boot option. (Even though the dev community is inactive right now.) There are also other partitions such as EXT2 and FAT32 but they aren't as stable or fast.
I would suggest Midnight's bundle but I improved some things with my own Code Butter ROM. You can also try jerrytan93's FroYo series. It's everywhere and they have individual threads so i would be hard listing them all.

Thanks BrianXP7.
I love your CodeButter because is based on Gingerbread and CyanogenMod, but I read that jerrytan93's SenseDroid (based on Froyo) it's more stable although is older... I don't know
Can I use Android in Landscape?
It seems to me that is possible to update the Kernel of the O.S.

The device doesn't have an accelerometer so it can't detect if you physically rotated it or not. Instead, try a third party app for locking screen orientations.

Yes because also my phone doesn't have accelerometer.
My phone has another screen and another keyboard, x1 doesn't have them so they will not work.
The principal keybords aren't identical, I think it will not work correctly.
Can anyone give me the basics to make an new Android specific for my phone?
Brian who helped you? Do yo used tutorials?

Haret.exe is not the kernel. If you want to modify the kernel search for sp3dev's posts on this forum. He developed the Android kernel for the X1. Also have a look at his repo: https://gitorious.org/~ast

The kernel is the zImage or boot.img depending on which build you are using.
