Got the wireless charging mod today - Moto Z2 Force Accessories

So my wireless charging mod came in today and I love it! It works very well with all my charging pads and I love the way it feels on the phone. It makes the phone look and feel "whole". Plus the camera is inset just a little now which I like. Because before when you lay it down the camera was the first thing to touch. So this protects it a bit. I ordered mine straight from Motorola because I noticed some websites had some with slightly thicker dimensions "older models perhaps?" But I got it for $29.99 plus shipping. Not too bad.

are you able to use a case with this mod attached? I have the incipio case and it seems pretty snug with no mods, but i want this mod....

Not sure. The mod is pretty sturdy feeling and the screen shatterproof. I just put a screen protector on for scratches and roll with it. So for me I Don't really see any need to have a case. I never have been one to like cases. That's why I've always liked Motorola because their phones are physically tough.

How long does it take to get the battery completely full from almost completely empty with that mod?

Not sure. I haven't ran it all the way down and charged it wireless yet. But the wireless isn't as fast as the turbo plugin charger but quite as bit faster than a regular plugin charger.

i bought the lenovo aluminum bumper and it feels great. it was really hard to get on because i have a dbrand skin on the sides of my phone. but ALL mods work, some - like the wireless charger are harder to get off without taking off the case.
this is the bumper - worth every penny

I also bought this bumper and loved it initially. No more slippery edges around the phone and very cool looking and feel. However, the big issue with this bumper, to me, was the reduction of signal (from 5 bars down to 3 bars). It also affected the 4G Tx/Rx signals too. It did not affect Wifi signal that much though. Now, I switched to Verizon Two-Tones black color rubber bumper and love it too. No more reduction of phone signals, protects the edges of the phone and wireless charging mod works perfect too.

When I put in this rubber bumper on, my wireless charging mod was already installed. Bumper went in without any problem. I have not tried to take mod out so I don't know whether any obstruction between bottom of bumper and mod.

Yes, there is a "tab" in the bottom center of bumper. It does not block the bottom edge of mod, but rather it is very close to bottom edge of mod. This makes the mod to come out/going in a bit difficult.

Otterbox case out for Droid 3 now

It's been out for weeks
My apologies, I meant out as available to order directly from otterbox.com.
The product was previously shown as "Coming Soon" from their site.
Just got my confirmation email from Otterbox last night 8)
Wonder if it will be too bulky for an already semi bulky phone?

Does it work with the car or media dock?
Sorry mate not sure, i wont get the dock, car mount or otterbox case untill a reliable source in Aus gets these for me which will be months away.
The Dock has a removable base that the phone sits in so I would probably think it should fit, I remember some1 else having some snap on cover for the D3 which worked in the Media Dock. Not sure about the car dock tho.

Does anybody know if the OtterBox can be used with the extended battery? Also, does it make the phone REALLY bulky? How's the top row of the keyboard?
I was expecting chunkier, but I think I'd still rather use my phone "naked"

You got it to fit with the extended battery? I received my Otterbox earlier today and I can't seem to get it.
Just got the Otterbox today and I can confirm it does fit with an extended battery. However the battery, which also came today, is a cheapo 2200mAh from amazon. It a bit bigger than the standard not sure if its the same size as the extended. I use it with the standard back and is not bulging out. Hopefully this is an extended and not labeled incorrectly.
[edit] This battery is not getting hot while charging. Its 77 and the standard it usually over 100. Though it may be misreported.
Let me know how the battery does compared to the stock! Mainly if its lasting longer than it or if the cheap batttery isn't worth the money.

Well the battery's not likely 2200mAh. It gets about the same life as the stock 1500. Still worth the 5 bucks I paid. It's GTMax brand if anyone's interested.

The vzw holster is crap as far as i'm concerned. When I got a replacement for a vibrate motor problem I noticed how the new one was much more sturdy when sliding out the keyboard. The case caused it to come loose. The clip near the back of the front camera is too tall and the screen pulled upwards.
Decided to take off the battery cover and see how it fits in the Otterbox. There's no problems it even feels a bit smaller almost as though there's no case on the back. Even tried dropping it from about a foot to see if the battery or sim or sdcard would fall out, didn't move at all. So there should be no problem with an extended battery. Someone at androidforums cut the battery cover to make the extended battery fit. Doesn't sound like a very good idea but I guess it's another option.
Hmm. I have no issues with the vzw one *knock on wood* and its on my hip all day. I have bumped into a few doors at work directly on it (as well as some stupid people in the metro) its held its ground so far.

Nice. Just wish they had it in
The OtterBox case can be found on amazon for around $25 shipped, it's well worth it. Best case I ever had for a phone. I got it to work with the Motorola extended battery, I just modified the stock battery cover with a dremel and alot of patience.
How much was actually 'shaved'? Did it go through the cover all the way and expose the insides at all?

Oh yeah almost the whole battery is exposed, but the inside of the otter box is silicon and it seal everything up and holds it tight. The original battery cover sacrificed his life so that I could use my extended battery. I still have the extended battery cover if I ever choose to take off the ottterbox. There's a thread at droidforums.net that I posted pics and all in.

Case review thread

Hey everyone,
Got my nillkin case:
http://www.nillkin.com/chinese/proshow.asp?mid=2&sid=&tid=&cid=&scid=&id=2739&page=
Pros: There is a fine texture on the back of the case. Really improves your confidence regarding holding it.
The smooth case of of stock Note kinda makes you feel like it might slip right out.
Holes are cut pretty well. I kinda wish it was little bit thicker to protect the camera more.
Cons: It's too thin. Meaning it doesn't really fit all that well with the cover on.
However, if you remove the back cover it's pretty good actually. You lose your NFC antenna if you do this though.
The top and bottom are basically exposed.
This is, one one hand, annoying, and on the other hand - At least I don't have to worry about headphone port blockage, or worse - making the USB port even more annoying than it is now.
I haven't tried the included screen protector yet.
- Frank
Has anyone seen this case?

The problem with those is that they are 2 pieces glued together so after some time they start to seperate, I had the GNex bumper (like in 2nd link) and thats exactly what happened; it was nice while it lasted for the month or so
1 piece with a raised lip and it would be perfect imo

The aluminium bumpers neudof and myself linked shouldn't affect reception at all as they don't hide any of the back cover. It's the ones that hide the back cover are the ones you should worry about. I work in the basement floor in my office and I still have full reception.

My bumper will come in on Wednesday so i will test it then. I have 3 areas where i get varying reception. So i will be able to test it in places where i get excellent signal, medium signal, and weak signal. I'm hoping it turns out to be fairly accurate portrayal of real world conditions. I will provide speed test results of course as well as comment on performance. Thanks for everyone contributing to this thread.
my aluminium bumper just arrived today.
pros:
- is sleek and beautiful
- it is very light so you'll not notice the extra weight
- i didn't notice signal degradation, is at the same level as without bumper
- very easy to mount
cons:
- the cuts for usb and headphones are kinda small and you have to use original samsung cables or similar otherwise they will not fit
- the edges on he back are a little sharp, not enough to hurt, but they could be a little unconfortable
overall impression, i like it and happy with the purchase

i've got that one. depends on your signal degredation. with a tpu case, my signal strength gets up to around 17asu max, with an average of 13-14asu.
with the bumper in the link you've sent, my signal strength drops to 14asu max, with an average of 8-10asu. so for me, the drop in reception was annoying enough for me to just go back to my heavy duty tpu case.
for me the signal strenght oscillate between 10 to 16 asu, with 1-14 average, with or without bumper, so i can conclude that the signal is more or less the same.
what does looks worse is the gps signal which keeps droping inside the building. i still didn't check it outside the building though

i never had much gps signal indoors so not much of a problem there.
but i did notice the signal strength drop was notable enough to increase battery drain as my device tried to use more power to boost the signal. normally my daily usage is quite consistent, to the point where i only use 20% of my battery after a 9 hour shift. with the aluminium bumper, i end up using 30% of my battery after a 9 hour shift.
im sure for people who get better signal strength, the loss in signal wont be noticeable at all. but for me, it was enough for me to go back to a tpu case.
I had a aluminum bumper and it killed my signal. I was in about a 3 bar 4G area and it would drop the signal down to 3G with 2 bars. My area has always been a solid 3G area. I took it off and on in numerous locations over and over and it was indeed the culprit. Now its sitting around collecting dust.

MOTO MOD FRIENDLY cases / bumpers

So like title said, post links / names of cases you can find online, for now there is only two options avaiable:

The second one is not mod friendly. I've it and it doesn't fit car dock or back style mods.

I'll vouch for the Verizon bumper case. So far all the mods I have fit with this on. I know its not a full case, but it protects the siding and gives you the ability to hot swap mods all day
I have the famous YouTube review video showing how terrible the Incipio bumper is. It doesn't even work with their own battery pack. Just poor engineering and design.
Is there any more options beside this two? Because verizon is not available to Europe?

Verizon one just broke on me. Lasted about 5 months. I want another one because it is the only one that works. Any idea where I can buy? I would love the edge shield when it comes.
Just received a Sparin TPU case for the MZP from Amazon today. The best part is that it fits OVER the style shell and all. Yeah, it's a tight squeeze and the top mic hole is a little bit off and it is a bit of a pain to remove, but it works. Don't know how long his case will hold up without cracking or yellowing, but so far I'm impressed. Buttons are able to be clicked and power cord inserted. Got a 2 pack for less than $10 shipped.
Oh, and no hole for the pins either.

Anyone used Luphie Case before?

I wanted an aluminum bumper but I figured it would still have wireless problems. I saw this case and was wondering if signal would drop and if it could fit most screen protectors.
Since it says signal pass-through I would assume you'd be ok.
But can I talk to these Chinese case manufacturers about putting stupid text on the cases. I don't need "wireless signal pass-through" or "high quality airframe aluminum" written on the item.

Yeah. I was thinking that too. It seems far too inexpensive to be excellent quality. I guess I'll pick one up and see.

I had one on my Note 4 which looks pretty similar.
They look nice but not very good quality the glass on the back of the case cracked from top to bottom and I didn't even drop it.
It literally must of just tapped something while in my pocket
Also it was impossible to get the spen out
& it impacted phone signal
Edit : this is the case I had

Luphie cases are not worth it in my opinion, bad quality. Had on my note 4 ordered 2 ended up just doing a slim case

I probably used 4 or 5 of these on my Note 4 (they were only $7 - $8 on AliExpress) on my Note 4- the back glass on each cracked within a couple weeks of use.
Classy as hell on the plastic Note 4, but not worth the hassle.

No problems with GPS, but a very small loss of signal quality.
