It’s cheap but how long did you received it? 1-2 weeks.

They're all pretty much the same thing.

yeah around 2 weeks

Why would you do this? any "glass" or plastic protective coating will affect the optics of the camera.

I have one on the way but who knows when it will arrive. I purchased from a China seller for 1$ about a month ago. Ill update if it actually gets here.

Putting an additional thick piece of cheap glass on top is a bad decision if you value photo quality. It's like putting a $3 clear lens filter on a $2,000 L lens.

i also looked on ebay i want a screen protector not for the camera or front of phone but for the back of the phone, do they make a tempered glass screen protector for the back of the note 8 i can't find one

I just use dbrand skin

Amazon.. like $2

This does look like a good way to protect the camera lens. For $2.49 on Amazon/ebay I think I'll give it a try.

my 1$ TGSP rear camera from ebay came in today.
took me 5 minutes or so to apply, I would recommend using a really thin tweezer to take off the protector from its film as well as lay it on the rear camera on the phone. I dont think I would have been able to do it well with only my fingers since its such a thin and small piece of glass.
Also, it doesnt really seem like glass to me as its bendable. To me its just a harder thicker piece of plastic but maybe tempered glass is bendable? I dont know lol someone can correct me on this please.
To my eyes, and I have pretty good eyes I do not see any difference to photos. I mainly purchased this protector as I always touch the camera area when playing games in landscape mode, it really annoyed me thinking if I would eventually scratch the rear camera since my hands sometimes have dirt / dust on them

I bought these...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075MCL9KH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The fingerprint sensor cover is useless in that it stops the sensor from working, but the camera protector is very thin, and fits well. I'm not entirely sure why I need 5 - I'd only need to replace one if it gets scratched to such an extent that it affects the ability to take clear pictures. I don't see any difference to the picture quality of the camera with the protector in place.

I got one of these and after 1 day I removed it.
When using flash, the light "travels" in the glass and washes out all the pictures. Also the camera seems to "notice" something there and takes a bit longer to focus every single time..

Lens Protector?

Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive in regards to my lens, but I keep thinking, one little scratch and it won't take a decent picture again.
Anybody tried just cutting up a screen protector to a mini size to fit it or are there any companies I haven't seen yet making one?
Thanks for any advice.
I've been wondering the same thing but I haven't seen one anywhere.
Just so you know, the OEM lens cover sticks on and is easily replaceable. If you take off the battery cover, it can be popped off with your fingernail. HTC probably has a replacement parts program. I can't see it costing over $5 to get a new lens protector.

Wow. Awesome. Thanks for the info. I never even thought of it that way.
Not so worried anymore.
Anyone know if the lens cover is made of Gorilla Glass like the front screen?

I do not believe the front is made of Gorilla Glass either. There was some conflicting info for a bit about that, but I think the final verdict is that it isn't Gorilla Glass.
BSE back skin comes with a little cover for the camera
I have this but hesitate to put it on. I'm afraid that it will degrade pictures. anyone install the lens protector from bse and can give an opinion?

Camera Lens covers/protection

Just wondering if anyone has them applied to your phone. I believe Nillkin sells tempered glass covers for the camera lenses. Anyone care to share pics/reviews?
My camera lens is super scratched and it affects my pictures. My warranty replacement should arrive tomorrow or soon. I don't want to keep the phone if the lens will continue to be an issue. My DUO lens and the rest of the phone are in perfect condition.

You got a warranty replacement because of the scratched camera lens?
My lens also has some scratches even though I handled the phone like a raw egg... I simply don't understand why HTC uses the cheapest kind of plastic to cover the camera lens, when the rest of the phone is premium quality?!
I bought the Nillkin protector and used the camera lens protectors as well.
See my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52353778&postcount=384
I put the Nillkin protectors on the device as soon as I could, dunno if they'll affect the marginal camera in this thing, but the inevitable scratches, which your experience bears out, sure would.

yeah. I complained to ATT about how it's susceptible and I shouldn't have to pay insurance for a manufacturer error blah blah. HTC referred me to the carrier I told them.

It's pretty good I'm happy with it
Except they could of made the protector a mm or so bigger and it could of covered the whole camera hole but I suspect they didn't so it would be easier to stick on

My camera lens got a large scratch on it within days of getting it, seems it's the same cheap soft plastic lens cover like all other HTC phones use, such a shame.
Lucky for me the scratch was just off the centre and doesn't seem to notice on picture quality.
To try stop any more scratches I got a martin fields screen protector, as they come with 4 x lens covers, 2 for each rear camera.
I don't notice any loss of picture quality with the protectors over the lenses, so is well worth doing.
I really wish someone would start making lens protectors on their own

How do people do this? I don't understand. I work in the oilfield... Lots of dirt, dust, and sand and have never scratched the lenses. Are you guys using the device naked? Not sure how else it would be possible.

Exactly what I want to know too. How is it possible? Never happened to any of my other phones. They wouldn't be replacing it for free if it wasn't possible.
It happens when you try to clean the lens when it has fingerprint smudges on it. Because it's inset, it's much more difficult to clean. I ordered a Nilkin tempered glass protector mainly just for the camera protection.

What are you using to clean it???!
A paper towel is *not* suitable at all!
Only a microfibre cloth OR lens pen should be used.
In a bind something soft-ish, i.e. terrycloth, could be used.
But never use a paper towel or napkin. Way too harsh for AR coatings, for example.
If the cover is loaded with silica dusts, these should be removed with a lens pen before using any kind of material to clean.
Otherwise you will wind up with tiny scratches that work similar to a diffraction grating filter creating "star" effects around pinpoint sources, lines and and other aberrations that will definitely mar your images.
The only remedy at that point is to replace the cover or remove it completely which puts the actual camera objective lens at risk of exposure.
Slickwraps are considering making lens protectors

I had an M8 replaced (unrelated issue) which had a bunch of scratches on the main lens cover. I treated it exactly the same as my M7 which didn't get scratches in the 6 months I owned it. I defs think HTC has changed something.
Anyway I got a lens protector with the Nillkin screen protector I bought for the replacement handset, but I mucked up the install so I took it off. Using the Nillkin one as a template, I cut out a circle from a spare M7 screen protector I had lying around. It's not pretty but it does the job perfectly.

I used to use paper towels to clean my camera lens, but after reading about how you can remove slight imperfections and scratches by using abrasive materials, I've switched to sandpaper almost exclusively. I tried using a napkin once, but the barbecue sauce (I thought the napkin had dried) got stuck in between the cracks of the lens and device. Needless to say, I don't use napkins anymore.
/s
I've never heard of a "lens pen" as I have the photographic skill of an untrained rock, but luckily am familiar with microfiber cloths. However I don't see the value in carrying one around as I had no such need with my GS3, a device made almost entirely of cheap plastic. I had no issue using the cloth from my T-shirt and pants pockets (soft, light material) to clean the screen and lens.
The current scratching is minimal and is not affecting my photos. But I know that unless I act now I will have those issues you mentioned. Whether its between buying a lens pen or carrying a microfiber cloth around, I'd much rather just slap a protector on it and call it a day.

keeping the camera lens scratch free

The glass covering the camera lens at the back is protruding so putting it down on any surface would make the glass touch it...how do you guys keep it from scratching?

When I pick mine up from the shop I'll be leaving the plastic on - my S4 has a gaping scratch across its camera lense!
Normally there should be no need to worry unless you intend to drag your phone across a rocky road. It's protected by a veryt scratchresistant glass, simlar to sapphire glass. It can stand a heavy beating and still perform.
The only real problem is fat from your fingers smearing onto the protective glass, this will cause weird looking arefacts with highlights so make sure you keep it clean.

Correct. Good protection. Or you could get the Nillkin Amazing H+ 9H Hardness Anti-Explosion Tempered Glass*for the note 4, it comes with 2 mini tempered glass camera lense protectors
Though I have not used any case or screen protector for the front screen, I have cut exact size glossy screen protector for the camera lens. I developed lots of scratches in S2 lens, from then on I started protecting camera lenses.
Note 4
If you look carefully the platic frame around the glass is just slightly above the glass so really the glass doesn't make contact with a flat surface
The Samsung s-view case is just big enough to keep the lens from touching. It's a good option if you are concerned about the lens getting scratched and want front of phone protection.
If the plastic cover doesn't affect the photos then chances are the odd scratch won't either..
Wife has S5 and glass on the lens seems pretty tough! No scratches yet!
When not using my Note 4, I shoot pictures with high end Nikon glass (lenses). Some will say to put a plain UV filter on the lens as a means of protection, never go naked. Others will ask why would one put an $80 piece of glass in front of finely tuned and crafted $2,500 piece of glass? Additionally, all those large sport photographer lenses you see taking photos.......no filters are made that size, they use hoods which extend several inches from the front of the lens as a means of protection. Now, given the camera in the Note 4 is not a high end DLSR you may not see the difference all that much, depending on the shot. However adding some form of adhoc protector over the camera will certainly cause some form of photo degradation.
If you have a phone case where the camera lens is recessed you should be perfectly fine if: (1) you pay attention how and where you place it down and (2) keep it out of your pants, bags...etc that hold keys and your loose change..etc.
Remove any added plastic or glass in front of your lens; take clearer and sharper pictures!
Goodluck

Well, my first tip would be to not place your note 4 on a textured surface, press it down into the textured surface and then rubbing it vigorously against it, with your pressure RIGHT on the lens.
Other than that, just use it normally. Dont keep it in a bag of quarters, dont hack at it with nails, dont keep it with your keys in a pocket... The usual nobrainer things.
Should be totally fine. When I place it on a table, the lens doesnt touch the table.

Scratches on camera lens

Got this phone for few weeks now and just noticed that i got scratches on the camera lens cover. I mean few weeks, really?! with case on and not placed together with any sharp objects. It's so annoying, my P10 plus is way more durable than this phone. Anyone having the same issue?.

The camera lens sticks out quite a bit. Have seen several phones like Samsung and Apple with cracked rear camera lens pieces, so I know better about that area. According to one source, they use aluminosilicate glass. Although the glass may not be exactly Gorilla Glass, Gorilla Glass itself is also aluminosilicate glass. Huawei's glass is likely a different chemical composition. The phone is the slipperiest I've ever encountered, my number one dislike about it.
There are no scratches in my situation. No case or protection has been used. Dislike cases and front tempered glass pieces. In general, careful which surfaces I lay the phone on and how I hold it. Have seen it sliding off uneven surfaces with too much ease.
Thanks for the warnings. I ordered a film protector for the curved screen and a tempered glass protector for the camera with the phone.
Isnt the screen a gorilla glass? I never dropped my phone and still Ive got a scratch on the bottom right corner of my screen. I could run my nail across it to feel the crack. Maybe it got scratched with a key or a coin. F***ng ridiculous. Never happened to any of my previous phones. I seriously doubt the quality now.

Question euti/screen protector for cameras

As we know ultra has big camera island any idea to protect them? I saw some special etui but its looks bad imo. Maybe some tempered glass? Is tempered glass not disturb the operation of the cameras? I don't feel confident to put my phone down, I'm always afraid that I will scratch something
I think if you put extra layer of glass on top of cameras you will get extra light reflection in some situation.
protect it. I got my cover on ebay.
A plastic film/glas protector will alter the light hitting the sensors for sure and make it worse
Also, Mi11 Ultra have Laser autofocus, not sure how that will be working with extra glass or film on top of it.
EDIT: seams like there is no laser autofocus...there is DualPixel Autofocus: https://petapixel.com/2021/02/23/samsung-unveils-new-50mp-sensor-with-next-gen-dual-pixel-autofocus/
