Does the Moto G5S Plus support instant apps at all? - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

I searched in the Google settings, but couldn't find them. This is weird, I thought instant apps were rolled out already, and available to everyone on android 5+.
Let me know if you find anything, thanks in advance.

Note: Android Instant Apps is currently only available on some devices.

Some apps not available to me.

Can someone please explain why some apps..such as Pure Calendar Widget..arent available to me?...When I search for it or read the barcode for it I get no results?...though others seem to find them. Also Camera Zoom which is always recommended is a no go.
I have a TMO USA phone and buy other apps from the market.
thanks
What region are you in and what provider?
You could be locked out by these things -- if so check out market enabler.
Tmobile. United States.
There's some threads with manual configurations for Market Enable.. Search tool will make the trick... if not google knows everything ehehehhe
Well I am still not getting an answer to my question Why are only some paid apps available and some are not?
Is this the way it is for everyone?

Yes it is, depending on the regions, there are or not some application. This is why the purpose of the creation of the Market Enabler.
Some but not all
It is not as straight-forward as that. You can use market enabler and see some paid apps but not all of them show up (for me for example). I cannot see Pure Calendar Widget either although I can see and purchase tons and tons of other paid apps. If harsaphes is already on T-Mobile, they probably don't need Market Enabler to fake that they are on T-Mobile...
The difference may be something to do with "paid" apps vs. "paid and protected/drm" apps. I am not sure though. I have not found a definitive explanation to this problem nor a solution.
Would this also pretain to the amazon mp3 app which can not be installed with any market other than the US version on US android phones? Or is there a way to push this app in manual..?

Living without PlayStore

So... I've searched for a similar thread, but I didn't found any so I decided to make a new one.
As I don't want to use any google services on my telephone I had to purge Play Store also. I've searched for alternatives. I came across Fdroid - actually the store I've searched for. The only problem I've faced is there are no proprietary apps. I try to reject using of proprietary software as much as possible, but many of my friends use proprietary chat apps like WhatsApp, Viber etc.
So I've searched a solution to get this proprietary apps without much tricks...just keep it simple. I came across Aptoid - another android store, but I didn't liked the idea behind very well - you can find lots cracked apps etc. and that is not what I am looking for. Second point is - all apps are outdated - so you are missing the new version of the apps and their security and performance fixes. It didn't suited my needs so I decided to purge Aptoide.
So... after a bit of research I founded another two solutions:
APKmirror - it is a website - there is no app for it. So If you want to use it you have to go to the website and download and install .apk manually (you also need to enable Untrusted Sources in your security settings). The website has very nice interface and it looks exactly as a normal appstore. I've bookmarked it and placed it on my homescreen - so it is usable - no pain in the *** at all. The packages seems to be "trusted" as the packet signature is checked with the one of the original developer. All apps are updated - you can even download beta versions (before they hit PlayStore) and if it goes wrong... you can easily downgrade to previous verions - very nice feature. This site is related to Android Police - as it is a good source in my opinion, I think the packages there are trust-able. Is there anyone who has additional info about APKmirror?
APKpure - the second solution I came across. I wasn't able to find any additional information about this source or any review so I really have no idea who is standing behind this project. Anyway... I downloaded several apps and I checked the app signature and it seems fine - every app I checked matched the original signature of the developer. There are also "Trusted" marks same as APKmirror. All of the apps are updated. It looks pretty much like APKmirror - there is no app, just website. You can easily update your applications too so it suit all my needs. Anyway... I would like to get some additional information about it... it seems to me like mirror of PlayStore but... anyone who knows more maybe?
Apkpure has a app that you can download. Just have to watch certain apps such as play games will update to the 038 version when I am completely updated to the 030 version in the play store. Apkmirror describes this on their website when you download certain apps. Just though you should know about the app.
One thing I miss Fromm the Google play store is Google games for backup of games data and achievements. When cyanogen finishes partnership with the social gaming network, play games or whatever it's called, I'll hopefully be able to get away from the Google play store. Course devs would have to enable those servers for achievements etc, which is a long shot. Till then helium is my best friend I guess.

I have a EVA-AL00 arriving tomorrow...what do I need to know?

Ok, so I bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) since I've always been a fan of Leica products, and I'm a hobbyist photographer. First off, I currently use an iPhone 5s for the last 2 months, and before that was using a OnePlus One, and before that an iPhone 5c and Blackberry Passport, so I've had a variety ogf phones over the last 2 years. I'm not into hacking, or unlocking or locking bootloaders and that type of thing, which is why I generally like Apple products, as they just seem to work out of the box. I'm leaving my 5s because the screen is too small, and I like what the P9 offers for the money, at a cheaper price point than an iPhone 6s. And the Leica optics.
So, having said that, what do I need to know once I get the phone tomorrow? Any critical or important tips or tricks? Again, I'm not into anything complicated when it comes to phones like rooting, etc... I'm in Canada and my Carrier is Bell. My ANdroid experience has been with the OnePlus One I used for a while, and I was generally pleased with it.
Thanks
Ok, so phone arrived. I made a mistake. It's a EVA-DL00.
It's running EVA-DL00C17B163, and I'm currently updating to 168. This is a CHinese version of the phone, from my understanding. I'm using it in English, but some things are still in Chinese. Is there any way to to flash with other software to make it all English?

I recently bought the EVA-L10 (Chinese Dual-Sim, "premium" version, 4G/64G) while in Shanghai, and I have the same "problem" as you.
Basically since Google is not available in China, the phones sold in China don't come with Google Android framework, they use a "non-google Android", based of the official Android.
So, to your question, will it be possible to flash another firmware over your phones firmware? I say Yes, however at the same time I'm lying, because I'm also looking for this firmware for my phone, but if someone posts a EVA-L29 Firmware somewhere on the Interweb, I'm most certain this firmware will work on my phone and should also work on yours (might require bootloader unlock and root, but so what..).
But the phone is, chinese apps or not, awesome
/S
You can install Google stuff. Just download the Google Play store from the Huawei store, and then have at 'er installing all the normal Google Play apps that you want. That's what I'm currently doing. I just want to get rid of all the Chinese stuff on the phone. ALso, switch the keyboard to the regular Android one in the settings.

Hi!
Of course, but there are still some applications that are "System Applications" that you cant get rid of, like HiCare, HiApp, .. etc. and if you are in a country using special characters like ü or åäö, these are not rendered correct in the Mail app (shows up as chinese chars).

Have you checked out the contacts yet, .. did you manage to sync contacts from your Google account? Because my contacts from google dont show up in the Huawei built in "Contacts" App (which is also used by the dialer). Only contacts from Skype, LinkedIn, WeChat etc. are shown.

Hi,
I also bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) last June, and currently i'm having an issue.
Usually i don't have games on my phone, or almost none, but some days ago, i wanted to install Heartstone on my P9. When downloading , at about 85%, sometimes 9x% (once it reached 100%) suddently it pops out from Google Play, and don't install the game. I tried also with other games and it happens the same. It doesn't happens with every game, i tested sucessfully with Stack and Sokoban
I have plenty of free space on phone and several applications installed (no Google Play issue, i think).
After i received the phone, i download the Google services/play store APK without issues. I deactivated the chinese bloatware, with no issues. Once Google Play installed, i downloaded all other Google Apps i use and others without issues...well there is an issue i had with RT app. It installed ok, but sometimes when i want to open it, i have to try several times to open it... I click on icon but closes.
Have someone here with EVA-AL00 having this issue also?
Thanks!

I just bought the non-carrier specific 3G / 32G Chinese version (EVA AL00) P9 when I was in Guangzhou last week and had to do the following after coming back home to get it to work with google and sync with two google accounts.
1. Install Google Play Store from HiApp and sign in with first google account.
2. Make sure to give Google Play Store permission to access storage, otherwise large apps won't install.
3. Download apk of Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror
4. Download apk of Google Calendar Sync from APKMirror
5. Use the browser on the phone to download these two apk files and follow the instruction on the phone to install them.
Sorry I'm not allowed to post outside links yet, however google search keywords like Google Contacts Sync APK will turn up the download links.
6. Since the phone still did not allow me to add a second google account in Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account, I had to install Youtube and use the Add Account in Youtube to add a second google account.
After these steps, I was able to sync contacts and calendar events with both google accounts and install apps from Play Store.

Is it possible to get rid of everything Google-related?

Hello, i want to get rid of everything that is related to google (Gmail, Playstore, Play Services... everything), like LineageOS or CopperheadOS.
Unfortunately, these are not available for the P10.
So, is it possible to archive something close to that and how would i do that?
Actually project treble makes it possible to run LineageOS or AOSP on your P10 if you have Oreo. See this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/lineageos-15-1-p10-t3753886 for more info and some experiences. The Honor View forum has a number of roms and a camera mod: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development. Many of them work also for the P10. Expect some issues with the camera, volte and fast charging though.

Can we opt out from Harmony OS Update?

Hi, as confirmed : https://www.huaweicentral.com/harmonyos-eligible-devices/amp/
Will a user be able to opt out from installing the Harmony OS Update?
It appearently won't be running android and many of my favorite apps are Android such as my Google apps.
Your feedback is appreciated,
Thanks
might be able to block system updates from development options. at this point i will take the update if by some weird chance i get it before i can buy a p50 pro, sadly i dont trust google anymore than i do the CCP
Harmony OS IS in fact Android as much as I know, but there is no google apps and no Play store.
As far as I read, normally Android apps should work if installed as apk.
Harmony OS could have an advantage in fact: It will be OpenSource!
So it is not much different from any custom rom as far as I see it. The only thing will be that there are no google apps and some apps which need google services won#t work as banking apps etc.
Maybe there will be a workaround or Huawei will get together with the most needed apps and will support them in their own App store.
