Huawei Mate 10 to support Daydream VR - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

I saw on some advertising, that the Mate 10 supports VR as there is a headset and the words Huawei VR in the ad. It makes sense as the phone has a 2k display. However it is an LCD display and not an AMOLED display. Should be interesting.

Vr, not Google Daydream Vr?
Skickat från min LON-L29 via Tapatalk

Huawei during launch did say Daydream VR.

Huawei VR includes a 3K screen inside for better VR experience. If you buy it you don't need a 2k screen to use it. (Mate 10 pro)

Still. What platform does it use? Can we use daydream ready apps or similar? Feels a bit overkill for cardboard

Honor 7 vs Mate S

I have the chance to replace my Honor 7 with a Mate S for only a few bucks. Should I?
I'm very happy with my Honor 7. The only difference afaik is the 5.5" AMOLED screen vs Honor's 5.2" IPS.
Does the Mate S have Android 6 in Europe?
i'd personally hold out and get a P9. The Mate S doesn't have a final version of Marshmallow yet.
We're all on beta software who is on mm. Imo if you can get a p9+, sounds like a beast version of mate S in all regards.

I replaced my Honor 7 with a Mate S because i received it for 300€ when it was released.
i´m thinking about using the Honor 7 again and sell the Mate S since the battery got smaller and sometimes drains to fast. I also miss the IR funktions. The only good thing about the Phone is the AMOLED screen but i don´t think it´s worth it.
just keep your Honor 7 and wait a bit longer or buy a P9.

I can do the upgrade almost for free (20€). Is it not worth it?

If you can live without the IR funktion and the less durable battery. go for it.
I paid £399 for my mate S aboit 4 months ago and I've been looking at the Honor 7 and wished I had brought that instead at only £224...almost half the price with almost identical specs... Maybe even some extra features..
Stick with the Honor 7...better battery life and higher pixel density plus IR blaster and shortcut button

Mi Note Pro 2

Android Pure put out a screenshot of ‘About Phone’ of the alleged Mi Note 2 Pro which is said to run Android Nougat out of the box. Leaks claim Mi Note 2 Pro will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with Android Nougat.
The screenshot reveals Mi Note 2 Pro will be powered by a quad-core (Snapdragon 821 rumoured) processor clocked at 2.6GHz. It is said to come with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro will run MIUI 8 with Android Nougat.
Who will be getting one?
I definitely will.
Me too if the screen is IPS

The screen is supposed to have curved edges, so that will be AMOLED since you can't bend IPS

Then I would buy something else. Colors of modern art are more lovely on Amoled but I feel natural photos much more real on IPS
---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ----------
Plus I prefer small borders like on Nubia phones than curved edges
I prefer AMOLED over IPS as it has better battery life.
That's a good reason, also it provides battery friendly "always on notifications" which is quite nice.
Only thing I can see there's much less sub pixels, and maybe that's why I find amoled less true to life than IPS.
That would be great to have the choice between them but that would never happen, there's already so much different models.
After first mi note pro fail (flagship killer 2015 that had 0 android updates, rly?) I won't buy xiaomi. ever. For me Google pixels looks great + they will have newest soft and tons, just tons of developers working with them.
Miui 8 offers everything Google updates can offer (app permissions, data usage, etc...): which specific feature do you want?
My gut feel, it won't be Android 7 !
Any ATT users of the older Note, I have to admit the specs of the new model have me looking at what little info there is about it here in the US.
So did you guys buy Mi Note 2.
I personally bought OnePlus 3 and been on ported Miui 8 nearly all the way. I miss 5.7 inches and 2k a bit though.

I bought it. Waiting for it to ship still though. Won't expect it here until sometime next month ?. Considering the support the Mi Note Pro got, it was a hard decision though. Hopefully it's better this time around since the device seems more popular

Guys, we need help, bunch of people is working for enabling lte band 20 in xiaomi mi 5. All we need is some data, from xiaomi note 2 pro, so it would be wonderfull if somebody could do this. Check this link to topic I talked about http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476/page51
If you want help, just say there, so people who are working on it would be notified, cause I don t know how to build that data.
Cheers to all happy owners!!

The only but big problem for me is that lack of fingerprint scanner, I don't want a thief starting to buy on Ebay or Amazon from my accounts and I don't want to unlock it with a pin a hundred time a day...
If only it had Google Smart Lock!

Just returned my Galaxy S9 and pre-ordered the P20 Pro

Hi Guys,
I have just got confirmed from Samsung store that my Galaxy S9 has been successfully returned even after 2 weeks of use.
The reason for me returning the s9 was the extremely poor battery life (due chipset issue) and that the p20 came out with a better photo camera and bigger battery. The S9+ doesn't suffer from the same issue as it has an extra 500mah to compensate for the faster processor.
I am really looking forward to the P20 pro even though it has some drawbacks no EIS/OIS at 4k (only own a HD TV at home) so that is not really important to me. I can get a smartphone stabiliser like the Smooth Q or DJI OSMO Mobile 2 for around £120.00 for serious 4k recording
1080 30fps is more than enough for me and hopefully they bring some EIS to 4K via a software update.
Hi, i have a quedtion:
Is there 3x optical zoom in 1080 60 fps video recordind ?
Hi,
Did you receive the P20 pro?
Do you have any feedback?
Thanks you

Yes - Battery life is much better on P20 Pro compared to S9 -
Photography is also great but video recording lacks stabilization in 4k - If that is essential then go for the S9 Plus

Is p20 pro better in day to day use, ergonomy.
Does it have a better feeling in hands ?

Yes - Feels much better than the Galaxy S9 although that has a curved screen which can feel nice to hold. The drawback of the curved screen is video playback (distortion around the edges) and getting a good tempered glass protector to fit.
The p20 video playback is around the notch (can be disabled)
The battery life has been great on this device unlike the Galaxy S9 which has a hardware issue of not managing the CPU governor well killing battery. The front fingerprint sensor is lightning fast and much better at the front.
I switched from an S9+ to P20 Pro and I'm very happy. The battery, the night mode and the x3 are amazing.

Agreed, saved money also. Paid £730.00 for S9 on their pre order and got it and used it for 1-2 weeks before returning it when P20 Pro was announced.
Pre ordered P20 pro with Bose Headphone deal £720.00 (Very.co.uk with 20% off) and will sell bose headphones for over £200.
P20 Pro works out £520.00 sim free for me overall which is brilliant
Might want to check this out if you plan to root.

Not good for huawei at all. I'm sending mine back.

I can try my OnePlus headset, I got it free for the OnePlus 2 launch promo. Not touched it in a long time. Will report back later today
I've tried one before and it works fine, no issues other than face getting warmer than usual.

I just bought Mi VR Play 2. It is not compatible with POCO as they already said about the display size (upto 5.7" only). But I tried twice for additional checkup, the double vision effect occurs while gaming and watching.
I am using mi vr play first generation it works fine

Does P30 pro supports HDR10+?

Hi guys, can anyone tell me of P30 pro supports HDR10+ content?
Has anyone tried playing netflix HDR10+ content on p30 pro?
Sent from my SM-A720F using Tapatalk
From the spec, it supports HRD10 not HDR10+. Anyway, P30Pro has one of the worst screens in its price range, even worse than P30. Avoid it if you care about display quality.
As above, if you're looking at the P30 Pro for its screen prowess it's best to avoid. That said, if you want it for one of the best cameras (in a phone) on the market then crack on sire.

Joe Average will enjoy the P30 Pro screen fine. A few select elitist people will probably call it "bad", but the truth is, it's just fine for 95%.

The screen is a big improvement on my old Honor View 10.

If you put it close to an s10+ for a direct comparison it will for sure be less "stunning" but honestly is a great display and will impress you if you avoid THAT single comparison. Probably is the second best display on the market (and for sure in the first five) right now for an average user.

P30PRO display is only HDR10. It's a good display and I don't think that FHD or HDR10 only is so important on a small screen of a smarphone. 2K, 4K, HDR10+ and other specs are only useless battery drain.
