Anyone using Android Auto with the Nokia 8? - Nokia 8 Questions & Answers

I'm thinking about picking up the Nokia 8, but I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm it works with Android Auto. I saw the Nokia 6 had some issues with not being detected when plugged in. Thanks!

Yes, I can confirm that Nokia 8 works with Android Auto. I live in Denmark and drive a Peugeot 208 (2017 model) that supports Android Auto and it is just plug n' play. It works perfectly and the added benfit is that I can access Spotify through the same interface.

What version of android auto you are using? It has to be right version for your phone :
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/android-auto-2-4-7229-release/
If you tried the apps, then try to change cable. First you have to connect your phone with a car with bluetooth and then with cable. Both connections are needed.
Finaly - is smartlink turned on for your car?
Thanks my friend

MirrorLink not working with Skoda

Hi,
My car is not able to connect to Note 9 via MirrorLink. I used Galaxy A5 in the past with the same car. So I assume it's not a car issue.
Once MirrorLink is selected on car Media system, it tries to connect to my phone and even launches SkodaApp (but on the phone screen.. not car multimedia system) and immedately quits with an error that phone doesn't support MirrorLink.
MAybe something's missing in the phone. Any ideas?
AndroidAuto runs perfectly with Note9+Skoda. But not MirrorLink
Thanks

My Subaru has MirrorLink, but it doesn't work correctly either. Message board says MirrorLink is not backwards compatible with older versions... So, the Note 9 version (1.4) is "too new" for older vehicles. People have downgraded the app (not sure how, really), and it connects. Maybe this is why...

Maybe disable note 9 version, side load correct version from APK mirror, with app clone

Yeah, I have Samsung's MirrorLink app disabled, otherwise when I charge my phone from the USB port, it locks up.
And, I just tried to sideload an older version, but it won't (yes, sideloading is enabled). Of course, no reason why is given.
But, it's just an experiment for me. MirrorLink isn't well supported, not a lot of apps. I'd rather have Android Auto (which the 2018 Forester DOESN'T support either... :silly.

Regarding side loading, you may need to use App Cloner. It will sign the APK differently so you're essentially running another instance of the cloned app, instead of replacing the original app. In my experience, very few Samsung app you can side load with the newer phones.

After few experiments it started working for me.
Looks like Samsung Car Mode must be installed for other MirrorLink apps to work. I've read somewhere that at least one MirrorLink certified app must be installed. Not sure what Certified means because apps like Skoda One App are also certified.
Anyway - problem solved. Both Android Auto and MirrorLink is working. Both are useless* for me but at least both are working if I'll need a show off for my friends
*Useless because I can't use assistant apps (EN is not my native), Waze looks poor and blured on car screen etc.

Dongle to run Android Auto on Android Headunit (T3 K2001n)

Hey guys!
I brought this China Android Headunit running on T3 K2001n cpu and 2gb of Ram on Android 7.1. The brand is "Roadmark". I tried connecting my oneplus 6T to run Android Auto using USB but everytime it runs the easyconnect mirroring app. So I decided buy the Android Auto dongle (white/black) any feedback on which one to buy? And also is there any possibility to root my system? Please help!
Hi, I suggest to buy the white one as the black ones don't always have android auto only carplay while the white ones have both. I would suggest to go to AliExpress and look for carlinke or carlinkit brand. I have the white one and works perfectly both with AA and Carplay. It's worth to buy as it changes the whole experience of the headunit

Have you tried using Headunit Reloaded? It is an emulator for Android Auto for headunits.
Downloading the Android Auto app on the head unit won't work, as it is just the server (equivalent to the phone) but you need the client (equivalent to a head unit).
You shouldn't need any additional hardware.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I have the full version of the Android Reloaded redeveloped by Emil, I ran Android Auto in developer mode according to the instructions given, the USB direct mode doesn't work at all only the WiFi direct works but again it's very laggy and choppy the audio breaks so much. So that's why end up buying the Carlinkit for $30.
If you download headunit reloaded from play store after you have bought it and install it and then you download the XDA labs app from forum.xda and then you go to and look for headunit reloaded then there will be a betab available. Download the beta and the WiFi connection with headunit reloaded will work pretty good. Only downside if you are using Spotify when changing track from your steering wheel it will always skip a track and go always to the second one. But only with Spotify

Android Auto does not work with Chuwi hi9 pro?

Dear all,
I have a Skoda Superb mj 2015 with andriod auto support. This used to work brilliantly together with my previous phone, a Uhans Max 2.
I now have a Chuwi hi9 pro (8.4 inch "tablet/phone" with andriod 8) and can't get it to work anymore.
Installed the APK from feb 2019 and it runs on the phone alright, but when i connect to the car headset it doesn't start the android auto interface and says there is a problem.
Have tried multiple cables already (usb-c type) , re-installed the apk, rebooted the phone and car and tried switching on/off the usb debugging on the phone.
No success.
Has anybody else been successful using android auto on the Chuwi hi9 pro, or any other ideas that might solve this?
Thanks in advance!

Can't get Android Auto Wireless to work with my S20 FE 5G and Toyota Aygo 2019 [EU]

Hello.
I'm trying to configure my android auto so it works wirelessly. The wireless android auto is supported on Toyota Aygo 2018+, so I should be good here, and it's obviously supported on S20 FE 5G. The phone is connecting to my X-Touch without a problem, Android Auto is working flawlessly on USB, however when I simply launch the car it does not connect wirelessly. I updated android auto from apk mirror (it's not available in my country) and I tried enabling wireless projection, however when I turn the setting on in the developer options it does not appear on the list when I go back. I tried to reboot my phone just after I did that but it still didn't work.
Do you have any suggestions?

No, it isn't. Just plain old AA, not wireless. Wireless only very recently started appearing OEM in cars. In 2018 it would have required an aftermarket head unit, which began offering AA wireless support in summer 2018, not long after Google initially announced AA Wireless.
