I want to buy a Note 4, but I am unsure which chipset I should go for. I want the exynos chipset, but I am very doubtful about it. My only question is: Why does samsung ship exynos equipped Note 4 to poor countries and the snapdragon version to richer countries? I doubt that the snapdragon equipped Note 4 may be better built, more reliable and more stable than the exynos one, but I am not sure about this. Some people complain about different issues, like screen tint, glass edge gap, etc. What do you guys think of this? Can you share your experiences and thoughts?

Quality between the two are pretty much the same, just different chips.
Exynos is also shipped to the middle east countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, I dunno if you can call them poor countries lol.

He is right UK, Germany , Italy, France, Spain and US all have snapdragon equipped Note 4
so maybe he have something in his statement
The nordics also get snapdragon so it does seem Samsung is shipping the exynos to third world countries and not risking it in developed countries.
Western and indrustrialised countries get the snapdragon, third world ones get the exynos, with very few exceptions. I myself want an exynos, but I know that in general the same product's quality (like the same car or the same clothes) differs depending on the country it is going to be shipped to. A friend of mine who works in an electronic service, repairing different electronic products also told me this from his long experience in that field. It's a fact, but I'm not sure if this is the case here.

Errm, the UAE and New Zealand are certainly not 'poor countries' and as I understand the former got N910C and latter N910U, both Exynos.
Here in South Africa we got the Euro N910F Snapdragon, the Exynos N910C and the 3G only N910H, so what does that make us?

Here in SA? Between $910-$1045, the N910F being the most expensive and N910H being the least expensive of the 3.
That's BS. Am in Germany and I got the Exynos N910C. Unless Germany belongs to the poor countries[emoji85]

My friend has galaxy S5 G900F for Europe (first world), with snapdragon 801 which was 50 euros more expensive than the one with exynos G900H (Galaxy S5 also has 2 chipsets, just like Note 4), not even the smallest lag. Yesterday he installed the official android 5.0 and it was so smooth and responsive. So I don't think that lag in Note 4 exists, maybe I'm wrong.
I bought in Slovenia version N910F, was using it for 7 days but I was really dissapointed with battery life of Snapdragon model, so I returned it and changed for N910C Exynos model.
I do it purposely because of two reasons:
Battery life and Exynos is 64bit SoC, thus it is not enabled yet, probably will be enabled in near future.

Don't even bother with this argument, there are people who believe the Snapdragon lags, leave them, not all of us have the same experience, its a pointless argument.
My goodness. The only real difference is baseband... If using Qualcomm baseband, there is financial incentive to purchase the whole SOC.

I don't know why the OP thinks Samsung would vary the build quality by SoC, its all down to what country and networks they are shipping to, the setup the networks have, frequencies available in that country etc etc....
Some countries get both Snapdragon and Exynos, like here in SA, we got both variants from the GS4, Note 3, GS5 and now Note 4. I had a Exynos S4 and a mate had a Snapdragon S4, I couldn't even tell the difference until I went to About Device and saw that he had a I9505, build quality, UI speed, Display etc...Felt no different to my Exynos S4, same with Note 3, played with an Exynos in-store then a mate got the Snapdragon from our network, again I felt no difference, its the very reason why I stopped being fussy about what SoC variant I get.
So OP, if you want Exynos then get it, its build quality is the same as the Snapdragon, unless you are unlucky and get one from a bad batch.

I don't know man. I opened this thread for opinions. I am also not talking about huge differences in quality, but today I went to a shop and took a look at a Note 4 N910H (Asia Pacific) and I wasn't very happy about the screen. Its white turned cyan with very small rotations of the phone. Its glass was also a bit edgy at one corner (very little though, not visible if you don't check for it). I can only compare it to my friend's S5 G900F (Europe), which's display doesn't have the color issue. I also know that not every Note 4 has these ''problems''. It may just be just a coincidence though.
It is more about gsm. Specifically the available bands in your country. Thus why some countries get more than one variant.
As far as build quality, I would say the Korean ones are probably better binned overall, but not necessarily true. You would probably get a better screen if made in Korea. Other variables are involved. Seems the note4 snapdragon soc is shipping with mostly higher binned SOC's compared to previous phones with older snapdragons. I am not sure how well the exynos is binned as far as soc. Not many people updated their bin #'s in that thread.

N950F = International Version (EXYNOS)
N950U = US Version (SNAPDRAGON)
N950N = Korean Version (EXYNOS) 256GB
I do not reccomend buying from eBay unless its overseas. Lots of easy scams with eBay and Mobile phones

There is no N950K, like the US variants, all the Korean variants were unified into one SKU, which is the SM-N950N.

SM-N950N (South Korean carrier variant, Exynos)
SM-N950U (US Snapdragon 835 Single SIM variant, Locked Bootloader)
SM-N950W (Canadian Snapdragon 835 Single SIM, Locked Bootloader)
SM-N9500 (Chinese Snapdragon 835 Dual SIM, Unlocked Bootloader)
Preferably get either of the first two, they're unlocked and it doesn't really matter whether you get the Dual SIM or not since the software updates and all are the same.

Ah, that explains it with the SM-N950F/DS I have, which is the variant sold here in Singapore. I'd be willing to bet the SM-N950F has a different SIM tray.
Besides looking at the label on the bottom of the box, another way to identify the SM-N950F/DS variant is the presence of the Samsung "DUOS" logo on the top of the left side of the box, where the carrier logo would be on a carrier variant.
Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note8 sold in Singapore have an extra Samsung Singapore support sticker on the top of the inner lid of the box, and as with past Galaxy phones sold in the same country, there's an extra brochure (separated from the documentation) highlighting some features (some of them specific to here) like Smart Switch, Samsung Pay, Samsung Concierge, and Smart Academy.

It probably does, and yes the stuff you mentioned in the spoiler is exactly the same as my Note 8 which is a Singapore import as well. I too have the extra Samsung support sticker, Samsung Pay info and extra brochures inside the box.

Except, I do actually live in Singapore*, where it has a recommended retail price of S$1398, and it seems to be more expensive in Australia.
*I'm currently on holiday with some relatives in Perth, that's why I bothered to research the Australian retail price.
Oh yeah! I just remembered, Samsung Pay appears to be region/country specific. I'm not sure if there'll be a way to sideload a different country version without rooting, or if the user would have to use Android Pay instead. At least, after finding out while browsing the "My Apps" list in Galaxy Apps, I now have a second reason why I bought mine in my home country (besides the price difference).

Samsung Pay will activate in your country when you activate the phone with a SIM card from that country, doesn't matter where you bought it.
Singapore's default CSC is XSP, activating the phone with a Singaporean SIM card will activate XSP on the phone and you'll be able to use Samsung Pay in Singapore.
Suppose you take the phone to Australia cause you've moved there. Reset it, activate it with an Australian SIM card. Origin CSC stays as XSP, active CSC however becomes XSA or any other Australian CSC and Samsung Pay will work there too.
Keep in mind this only applies to international model phones (N950F), and not the other variants.

Oh, I get it now. I'll go update the description of my video.
The thing is, I saw these packages in Galaxy Apps:
(It disappeared, but I remember it being there when I made the video yesterday)
Oh yeah, and a small side effect for me that can be ignored: I bought my Note8 from someone else, who got it from Singtel, and when I set it up for the first time, I didn't have my SIM card installed, which had it set the CSC to XSP, and install that carrier's bloatware. (I did it like this first because I wanted to try some stuff that I couldn't try on the retail demo unit, theming being one of them) I did a reset, and put in my M1 SIM card. This time, only "My Singtel" app installed, and I could disable that and "Singtel Apps" packages in the Apps section in Settings.
I did, however, find out a way to view the active CSC, which I remembered not being able to do on my Note3 a few years ago.

Yes. Technically there is no N950FD but most retailers have the dual SIM variant listed as such. That and the N950F/DS are exactly the same.

I really don't understand Samsung's choices sometimes, at time I feel totally mind boggled by some of the decisions that Samsung makes, like putting Tizen on Gear smartwatches & making it incompatible with Android Wear, why not make Gear line of run on both Android's os & Samsung's Tizen os just like our Notes & S line phones do, if they couldn't put both operating systems on the devices then why not make a line that runs Android os & a line that runs Tizen os, the same frustration with Samsung when they short the US customers with base variant phones that only come with 64gb of rom, we do always get blessed with the flagship snapdragon processor chip, I definitely appreciate Samsung for that b/c the Snapdragon processors are always better, what I don't understand is why bless the states with Snapdragons flagship processor chips but then turn around & short us by only releasing base version variants that only come with 64gb, bless us with the best processors & cut us off at the knees by only releasing a base model with 64gb of rom while Samsung releases variants with 64gb rom & 128gb rom & 256gb rom.
I WANT the 256gb version, I always go for the variant that has the largest screen size & the most memory.
Samsung should release all variants in every country, it shouldn't be a problem for anyone in any country to go to Samsung's global site or our country's site & order whatever device we want with whatever variant that we want.

Hello All. Please, I need some help. I have a Samsung note 8 SM-N950U as it says in the "About Phone" option with the Snapdragon 835. When i take photos or connect the phone to a PC, it says Samsung note 8 with model number SM-N9500.
I am confused because it is a single sim device and all the SM-N9500 are dual sim device. I was thinking of flashing with the China firmware but i am scared the IMEI will become locked again.
What should I do at this point?

Boot into download mode and it'll show you the actual model number.
If it's SM-N9500, you can flash the TGY SM-N9500 ROM and you should be able to get dual SIM functionality.
Currently considering to buy either a 256gb N9500 (Snapdragon) or 64gb N950FD (Exynos), while about the same price.
I've been search the same question online and throughout the XDA site, couldn't see any Customised ROM available for N9500?
If I'm intended to use a CROM, only option being Exynos model?
Any exclusive advantage (Root/ROM/Tweaks) in N9500 comparing to 8895?
Could firmware be replaced over between the Exynos variant and N9500?

I noticed that the dual sim version they are selling also has Snapdragon 845. I did some research. It seems to me that the Snapdragon 845 is key to use samsung pay in US. Even it does not have it built in, the US firmware can also be flashed in as long as it is Snapdragon 845.
Any thoughts?

Same situation I have here, I would appreciate if anyone helps us.
Samsung and Best Buy show it has 6 GB RAM, Amazon and B&H show 8 GB RAM. Given that there's an Unlocked Sub-6 5G model, a Verizon UW model, European 4G and 5G models, it would be nice to get clarification on which models get what specs.

German reviewer who has an Exynos sample in hand said only 256gb version will have 8gb.
US models should only have 6GB. Only in China and EU with 8gb variants w/ 256gb
The model sold on Samsung is the same Amazon 8GB/128GB. I chatted with the Samsung eCommerce customer service to confirm.

The Samsung UK site says 8GB and the US site says 6GB.
I sent a DM to Samsung UK and they said it is 6Gb for 4G model (Exynos) and 8Gb for 5G model.
Not sure I believe it to be honest. Both 4G and 5G in the UK come in 128Gb ROM size, no 256Gb option here.

In Europe the 5G (Snapdragon variant) is listed everywhere as having 6GB of mem.

All UK models come with 6Gb RAM. Their website incorrectly states 8Gb and has been reported to be fixed

Not 100% sure but after doing some research I have found out that in Europe model number : SM-G781BZBHEUB is for snapdragon with 8/256gb. SM-G781BZRDEUB is for Snapdragon 6/128 and SM-G780FZGDEUB is for Exynos 6/128. Where the letter after Z stands for the color. Like SM-G781BZBHEUB is blue. And please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a retail UK device. It's the 5G model SM-G781B and it has 6GB RAM.
I received my preorder yesterday and it's the Snapdragon 865 version (UK) it has 6GB RAM / 128GB
I just ordered the SM-G781BZBHEUB, which should be 8/256. If anyone has new info on whether this 5G snapdragon version has 6 or 8 gigs of RAM it would be very appreciated so I can cancel the order before it gets shipped. I'm not going to buy a 6 gb ram phone in 2020, there's just no future-proofing in that.
