How do I remove my Google account? - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Community,
My coworker recently bought the Amazon Fire 7th Generation and ask if I could hook it up for her. So I downloaded and logged into Google Playstore so she could have certain apps ready. I find out that I can't deregister my google account without root. Because apparently there is no root for this version yet. I looked almost everywhere for answers like deleting /data/system/users/0/accounts.db I do not see this file because I there is no root access available. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

1. Wouldn't the apps installed via playstore be gone once you disconnect the account?
2. Change your Google password - that would render the account installed useless.
3. Last time I looked into a stock Fire7, it had "Accounts" in Settings...

Some minor issues after root...

So, I've rooted my HD 8.9 and installed the Google Apps I'm interested in running i.e. Play store, gallery, voice search etc. I installed the framework and such in the system/app folder. I also replaced the calendarprovider.apk with the Google version, it will allow for my shared calendars in my Google account to sync propery in the native Kindle calendar app, mostly cause I hate the low res icons in the Google Apps (I've not been able to swap the Google Calendar icon and get the app to install). Anyway, today I attempted to install super box pro and accuwether from the Amazon app store and they failed. They will download, but once they start installation they fail and show a red exclamation point on the app icon. I've been able to install other apps, allrecipes, Documents to go, the dark Knight rises and a couple others. Any thoughts?
One thing, after installing the Google apps and necessary files, I unrooted and did a factory reset. I don't need a rundown of the reasons to leave it rooted. I'm content without having root. Plus, after rooting I loose my Amazon books. No point in having g the kindle if I can't use it for its original, intended purpose.
Thanks, in advance, for any productive suggestions.
Happy New Year,
Ray

One quick addition bit of info. The popup that I get says that "application storage space is running low". Does this make sense?

After rooting, did you re-register you KFHD 8.9 with Amazon? Or after un-rooting, for that matter. If I remember correctly, I had to re-register with Amazon after rooting to sync with Amazon services.
Sure did. After posting I decided to factory reset again and, for the time being, I'm having no problems getting apps. I haven't installed any of my molded apps with 256 icons though. That shouldn't make a difference but seems the only variable I can think of.

If you are asking questions, and have no development work to post, then the issue belongs in Q & A, and not development.
No Problem, as I'll move the thread.

Thank you. It seemed to me, without a specific place for 8.9 questions the 8.9 development section was the most logical place to post. No biggie just seems that a place for 8.9 questions and such would be handy. I understand the two devices are similar but they do have differences from a root and development standpoint.
Thanks

On that note -can we get a Q&A Thread for the KFHD 8.9" ? It gets rather confusing have 4 different devices all in the KFHD 7" Q&A Thread.

Have you updated to 8.3.1 yet? I just did so and the CalendarProvider.apk I was using previously no longer works.
Like you, I discovered I had to replace that file in order for the Kindle to save my synced calendar settings, otherwise they'd be lost once Calendar was removed from memory by the Android OS. The CalendarProvider.apk I was successfully using under 8.3.0 came from ICS AOKP ROM and it was one of the few I found that worked properly. But now, it's not. Instead, Calendar Storage isn't showing up in the list of Installed Applications and my Google Sync Settings shows "Sync com.android.calendar" instead of just "Sync Calendar" under Google Sync Settings, and throws an error when trying to sync.
For now, I've reverted back to the system default CalendarProvider until I can find another that works. I'm fairly certain I've done everything I did the last time, and am even running the same version of all the Google Apps I was using previously. So I can't figure out why it's not working like it used to.
Are you in the same boat? Or have you not upgraded yet?

I actually have not run 8.3.1 at all. I ran 8.3.0 for about an hour just to make a backup. I've been running the sg17 CM ROM for a month or more now. I've lrarned to live without Amazon Instant Video for the time being. I've been quite pleased with CM on the kindle. In fact, with the latest Kindle app update, the book part of the tablet is virtually identical to the Amazon ROM app. Wish I could be more help to you.

[Q] Google Play error "Could not retreive information from server"

Hi All,
I am a proud owner of the Kindle Fire HD and I am pretty new in the Android World.
I have rooted the computer with success. Afterward I have installed all the applications as indicated (Market, Vending and Google Play).
Now the application gives me an error message with "could not retrieve information from the server". Does anybody knows how to resolve this?
Does it have to do something with a log, data, settings, IP address, location (residing outside the USA), user account, particular file, etc.
Can somebody PPPPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE help me with this? I am almost giving it up......
Thanks in advance.

profgokker,
No worries, this is a common error and is no way caused by geographic location. Google
Play Store works throughout the world, including China, although the Chinese attempt
to block Google Play. The problem is either the Google Play Framework is corrupt or
the Vending.apk is corrupt. Let's first replace the Vending.apk application. We have
attached Vending.apk to this thread. Download Vending.apk, move it to /Kindle Drive/
Internal Drive/Download. Then using ES File Explorer with Root Settings enabled, move
/sdcard/Download/Vending.apk to /system/app. You will get a warning, click yes
to replace Vending.apk. Next, change the permissions on Vending.apk to Owner: Read Write
Group: Read Others: Read. Next click on /system/app/Vending.apk choose Install.
After you complete the install of Vending.apk, then download Phonesky.apk which
is attached to this thread, move it to /Kindle Drive/Internal Drive/Download. Next
click on /sdcard/Download/Phonesky.apk to install and upgrade the Google Store
to Version 3.10.10. Then go to your /Apps, click on Google Play Store icon, Agree
to the License and attach an account to Google Play Store. If this does not
resolve your problem I will give you instruction on how to upgrade the Google
Framework.
Unfortunately I am having the same problem. Where can I find an uncorrupted googleplayframework? Thank by the way for your quick response and effort.

profgokker,
We have over 300 people a day download the same files I gave you, so you can be well assured
They are good. OK, to the problem. You are sure that you did not install a firewall, correct? Did you
install any security software? If no and no, first COMPLETELY uninstall Google everything, through
the Kindle Uninstall Service, we can not take a chance that one package is effecting Google Play.
Remove all items that you recently moved to /system/app. The Reboot the Kindle. Check the
Amazon Add Remove Programs - anything Google left? If no, you are good to take the next
step. Go to our Tutorial [How to] Install Google Play, the link is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069329
The idea here is simple. We will be replacing everything Google and since we have over
300 successful installs a day through those instructions and packages. The good new is
that the download package included in the tutorial will be slightly different than the files
I gave you today. If you still are not working after do a complete reinstall, there is
something wrong with the Kindle or your network. You can also send it into our firm,
we do offer Kindle Repair but I really do not believe you will have to take this drastic
step. You may call me as well, the first 5 minutes is free.
I still could not get through, same message again. I followed every instruction, but I am not sure what you mean with "Amazon Uninstallation Service", could you explain this further?
I even set everything to 'factory settings' and rooted the table again.
How do I know if it is a devide problem or network problem? If I go to the internet site of google.play, I have a similar message (server error), does this indicate a network issue? Or is this normal?
I will try it one more time and than I have no other option to contact you. Although I already give it up for google play on my kindle.
Thanks for your effort and fast response, which I appreciate very much.
I just noted that I just cannot access Google play from my location., not even via the internet. It looks that Google play has blocked my region (Caribbean), very frustrating. I tried to access it at workplace with company computer, other computers in my home; Google play just gives an error. Now I accessed a computer in Europe, and voila......' working there
Amazon does also not even allow me to the webshop (no US credit card).
Does anybody have a solution? Or just switch to Apple? Very disappointed in the of the kf
I just installed Orbot (there is also a post on xda), followed the instruction and voila...... i have access to Google Play.
So there is a block for my region for Google Play and I bypassed this via the program.

profgokker,
Are you in a Corporate Network or is this at home? The reason I ask is we have customers that
originate in the Caribbean and I have not hear any complaints unless your ISP is blocking Google Play.
Either way, I am glad you were able to make it work with Orbot Proxy Server:

Need help setting up 2nd profile

I could use some help setting up a secondary user profile for my tablet.
I recently bought the $50 Fire tablet. I immediately used RootJunky's batch files to install the Play Store, remove lock screen ads, disable OTA updates, root, and replace the stock launcher. I then logged into my Amazon account to set up the main user profile. I removed a bunch of Amazon bloat and the tablet is working perfectly as a proper Android tablet.
I ran into trouble, however, when I tried to set up a second user profile for my wife. She logged in using her Amazon credentials and went through the standard set up processes. After finishing all that, the lock screen showed up, she swiped up, and nothing. No launcher or anything. Just the home screen wallpaper.
While logged into her profile, I tried re-running RootJunky's Play Store install batch file. I got errors, though, telling me all of those files were already installed on the device.
Navigating through the settings, I managed to get into the Amazon app store and install OneDrive. From there I was able to install some APKs. I managed to install Nova Launcher so she has a working launcher. I also installed the Play Store. The Play Store, however, wouldn't open. It just flashed a white screen and then shut down. After installing the Google Login Service it now prompts to enter Google credentials to log in. After doing so, however, it says it couldn't connect to Google's servers. I am unable to install either the Google Play Services APK or the Google Services Framework APK. After not being able to install them from OneDrive, I downloaded them to internal storage and they wouldn't install from there, either.
I have confirmed that she has root access. I have Root Browser installed to her profile and can access the entire device storage.
Can anyone help me out? Something tells me there's a simple solution here, since the device is rooted and all of the programs/services necessary for logging into a Google account are already installed on the device. Would locating the necessary files and copying them to system work?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you should re-enable temporarily the stock launcher, that might be your problem. Then, you can set up another launcher and re-hide the stock one.

Thanks for the response.
The launcher isn't the problem. I managed to get Nova Launcher installed on the secondary profile, so I do currently have a working launcher.
The problem is that I can't get logged into a Google account, therefore I can't get into the Google Play Store. That's the problem I'm trying to solve. And as I mentioned originally, the Play Store and other Google apps are working just fine on the primary user profile.
If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

I have a EVA-AL00 arriving tomorrow...what do I need to know?

Ok, so I bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) since I've always been a fan of Leica products, and I'm a hobbyist photographer. First off, I currently use an iPhone 5s for the last 2 months, and before that was using a OnePlus One, and before that an iPhone 5c and Blackberry Passport, so I've had a variety ogf phones over the last 2 years. I'm not into hacking, or unlocking or locking bootloaders and that type of thing, which is why I generally like Apple products, as they just seem to work out of the box. I'm leaving my 5s because the screen is too small, and I like what the P9 offers for the money, at a cheaper price point than an iPhone 6s. And the Leica optics.
So, having said that, what do I need to know once I get the phone tomorrow? Any critical or important tips or tricks? Again, I'm not into anything complicated when it comes to phones like rooting, etc... I'm in Canada and my Carrier is Bell. My ANdroid experience has been with the OnePlus One I used for a while, and I was generally pleased with it.
Thanks
Ok, so phone arrived. I made a mistake. It's a EVA-DL00.
It's running EVA-DL00C17B163, and I'm currently updating to 168. This is a CHinese version of the phone, from my understanding. I'm using it in English, but some things are still in Chinese. Is there any way to to flash with other software to make it all English?

I recently bought the EVA-L10 (Chinese Dual-Sim, "premium" version, 4G/64G) while in Shanghai, and I have the same "problem" as you.
Basically since Google is not available in China, the phones sold in China don't come with Google Android framework, they use a "non-google Android", based of the official Android.
So, to your question, will it be possible to flash another firmware over your phones firmware? I say Yes, however at the same time I'm lying, because I'm also looking for this firmware for my phone, but if someone posts a EVA-L29 Firmware somewhere on the Interweb, I'm most certain this firmware will work on my phone and should also work on yours (might require bootloader unlock and root, but so what..).
But the phone is, chinese apps or not, awesome

You can install Google stuff. Just download the Google Play store from the Huawei store, and then have at 'er installing all the normal Google Play apps that you want. That's what I'm currently doing. I just want to get rid of all the Chinese stuff on the phone. ALso, switch the keyboard to the regular Android one in the settings.

Hi!
Of course, but there are still some applications that are "System Applications" that you cant get rid of, like HiCare, HiApp, .. etc. and if you are in a country using special characters like ü or åäö, these are not rendered correct in the Mail app (shows up as chinese chars).

Hi,
I also bought a P9 ( EVA-AL00 ) last June, and currently i'm having an issue.
Usually i don't have games on my phone, or almost none, but some days ago, i wanted to install Heartstone on my P9. When downloading , at about 85%, sometimes 9x% (once it reached 100%) suddently it pops out from Google Play, and don't install the game. I tried also with other games and it happens the same. It doesn't happens with every game, i tested sucessfully with Stack and Sokoban
I have plenty of free space on phone and several applications installed (no Google Play issue, i think).
After i received the phone, i download the Google services/play store APK without issues. I deactivated the chinese bloatware, with no issues. Once Google Play installed, i downloaded all other Google Apps i use and others without issues...well there is an issue i had with RT app. It installed ok, but sometimes when i want to open it, i have to try several times to open it... I click on icon but closes.
Have someone here with EVA-AL00 having this issue also?
Thanks!

I just bought the non-carrier specific 3G / 32G Chinese version (EVA AL00) P9 when I was in Guangzhou last week and had to do the following after coming back home to get it to work with google and sync with two google accounts.
1. Install Google Play Store from HiApp and sign in with first google account.
2. Make sure to give Google Play Store permission to access storage, otherwise large apps won't install.
3. Download apk of Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror
4. Download apk of Google Calendar Sync from APKMirror
5. Use the browser on the phone to download these two apk files and follow the instruction on the phone to install them.
Sorry I'm not allowed to post outside links yet, however google search keywords like Google Contacts Sync APK will turn up the download links.
6. Since the phone still did not allow me to add a second google account in Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account, I had to install Youtube and use the Add Account in Youtube to add a second google account.
After these steps, I was able to sync contacts and calendar events with both google accounts and install apps from Play Store.

Adding new Google Account w. Googlefier w. EMUI 11 without restarting the whole process?

Hi,
unfortunately I had to change my password for my Google account for various reasons. Since this account was previously set up with the Googlefier on the smartphone, it can no longer be used or the new password can not be entered on it, it is not accepted. So i deleted the account on my phone because of the various error messges from all the apps which are using this account.
I still have a second Google account, which is also already available on the smartphone and which also still works. Nevertheless, I would like to use the other account also, because it is my main account. But when I try to add the main account as a new account on the smartphone, that doesn't work either ("An error occurred, we could not create the account").
Hence my question: googlefier is still installed. Can I use it to subsequently create the second account without having to reset the firmware on a 10.x version? Running 11.0.0.168 currently....
As a workaround i'm using Dual Space already, in which i can access my main google account, but thats not the "real thing"...
thx, jennix
Yes, you can, here is a very simply away:
- Uninstall Google Play Service.
- Install Micro G, then add your new account.
- Uninstall Micro G.
- Install Google Play Service again.
thx, but does uninstalling and reinstalling Google Play Service work without downgrading the firmware?

Yes, you can do it on Settings -> Apps -> Apps. (Just only remove 1 app: Google Play Service)
You don't need to downgrade or restart your phone.
Can anybody confirm if it is working.
No, it doesn't seem to work like i need it. But first, something reassuring: The smartphone will still run afterwards, so nothing will break.
But the real purpose, to bring my main account back to the device, didn't work. I have made several attempts. I uninstalled Google Play Services, installed Micro G, added both accounts (both were then visible under Vanced G account), then uninstalled Micro G, installed Google Play Services, and all that happened was that only my secondary account was available again. I couldn't log in with the main account, e.g. in Play Store or in maps, there were always error messages like "we are having problems with server communication" etc.
In another attempt, I created only the main account in Micro G, and still afterwards only the secondary account was operational in Google Apps.
I did this several times, sometimes also with restarting the phone between the steps, but it's still the case: my secondary account is working, the main account is still not there.
OK, i can live with this, but...

Because you mentioned you changed password for 1st account, so I think that you have to remove it first by going to:
- Settings -> Users and Accounts -> Google.
- Access your 1st account here, then click on the recycle bin icon to remove it.
Then you can do those steps again (Remove Play Server, Install Micro G, add account again, remove Micro G, install Play Service).

Hey @Shymmy, thank you very much. Even if it was a bit hard to follow the video because i'm not able to understand the spanish language i could follow the steps and finally: It works! Even with EMUI 11.x while in the video it's still at 10.x. So now i have again two working google accounts at this phone! Thanks again!
Does Google play Works?
Yes.
But depend on what method do you use for having GMS. I have an old one, all works; with Googlefier I think you can have notification or Google Play (freeze framework or not).
