module canstantly says 'Module will be updated at next reboot' - Magisk

Hi,
Freshly installed Magisk today. I have tried to install the 'Sony Framework' module from (Seyaru Module by eric9401 work).
However as title it says 'Module will be updated at next reboot'. I can disable the module, but the option to delete using the trashcan doesn't work either. Has anyone else come across this with any tips to resolve?
I am running a galaxy s8
Thanks

Some modules require full uninstall and reboot before you update them (AML, for example). To fix this, you'll have to uninstall Magisk and reinstall it and the modules you want to use. Make sure you download the update and that it's in your magisk folder before you uninstall everything.

Or u can manually uninstall modules from twrp if u have magisk mount already flashed. And the u go to magisk directory and deleted individual modules. No need to uninstall/reinstall magisk.
This is how I fixed it. I had same trouble with AML

Thanks. I was able to uninstall the modules this way. I still can't get the Sony framework working but i will keep trying

Dang.
Maybe good tip. My busybox had a red update mark but it was kind of working. Then i disabled modul, by doing i saw network sign (!) is gone so i "dicided" to full uninstall magisk.
Now my phone hang on bootlogo.
Not sure how to restore with flashfire backup i dumped. Maybe possible to push/install magisk manager via adb?
No twrp atm just stock recovery^^
Fixed by flashing magisk custom boot.img which was used to get root but now not able to install busybox modul :/
Switched to SuperSu busybox now working.

Magisk - Rebooting resets Magisk Hide

Hi all,
So I've just flashed Oxygen OS 4.0.1 for the OnePlus3T, flashed SuperSU 2.79, downloaded Magisk from playstore, installed it, uninstalled SuperSU app. Root is working fine
Two green ticks, installed and properly rooted, but the SafteyNet failes. I read that you need to enable Magisk hide, so I do, and it tells me to reboot, so again I do, but the option keeps resetting/.
Anyone else having this issue/ has a solution?
There's been several users with OnePlus devices having problems with Magisk Hide. Might be a device specific issue that's not user solvable at the moment...
Edit: New info added to OP after my answer... Magisk Hide does not work with SuperSU.

That's a shame ./. I'll ask reddit
Thanks
I'm using phh's superuser and Magisk hide is working for me on the open beta and people seem to say that the current beta and the release versions are virtually the same, so it might be an issue with how SuperSU is handled.
afaik Magisk Hide needs phh's root, not SuperSU

Magisk Hide does NOT work with SuperSU. You have to use topjohnwu's phh's superuser that's provided with Magisk.

Nope, nope, nope. It's a problem with USERS who use magisk hide options. In THREAD is info about supersu + magisk hide = NOT WORKING. This is only fault of wrong su binaries, so it's not device specific issue.
And for this issue - probably flash a unsu script. It will (probably) delete all of supersu files, then in magisk manager or twrp flash modded phh binaries for magisk and then, finally install ph manager from google play. That is config to be able to use magisk hide.
ENJOY.

Yeah, I know... OP edited with SuperSU info after my answer. I edited my post as well. Thanks for the reminder.
Not going to quote everyone, but YES! Removing SuperSU and using phh SU works just fine!

Magisk (MagiskSU) - Busybox won't install, says "Systemless root is not configured".

Magisk (MagiskSU) - Busybox won't install, says "Systemless root is not configured".
I've installed/flashed the latest stable Magisk version: v13.2. (Since version v13.1 I believe the bundled busybox included with Magisk was removed because it caused a lot of issues)
I've tried to install BusyBox to "/su/xbin" but it always throws up the error "Systemless root is not configured".

Tried adding it as a module to Magisk however it reports it's not a magisk module "this zip is not a magisk module".
Flashed it with TWRP and it installed in su/xbin. Thanks :good:

If you want to use it as a Magisk module, maybe you should install it from the Magisk Manager instead of flashing from TWRP.
Besides, I didn't catch your meaning. You mean the busybox app notice? Now that busybox is installed, you don't have to mind that notice.
Why are you guys trying to install to /su? Unless you're still on Magisk v12, you shouldn't be using SuperSU...

What method would that be? No, I'm not gonna go hunting for some random Youtuber...
If the aim is to get a functioning busybox up and running, the easiest way is to just install @osm0sis busybox module from the downloads section in the Manager. No other apps needed...
He installed busybox in system/xbin
He made a folder called "Viper4Android" in the "system/priv-app" folder and copied a Viper4Android APK in there
He set the permissions of said APK to -rw-r--r-- (I set to -rwxrwxrwx for good measure)
He went to "system/vendor/etc" ("system/etc" if it's not there) folder, made a copy of the "audio_effects.conf" file
He renamed the "audio_effects.conf" file in the etc folder to "audio_effects.conf.bak"
He pasted the original "audio_effects.conf" file back in the "etc" folder, so now he has a "audio_effects.conf" and a "audio_effects.conf.bak" file in the "etc" folder
He changed the permissions of the "audio_effects.conf" file to "-rw-r--r--"
He rebooted, opened V4A, installed drivers, then rebooted
Hope this helped.

That busybox module works perfectly for me.
And I'm using Magisk partly because it makes system modifications like V4A systemless. Therefore I would not follow those instructions...
I do have V4A working though, with this Magisk module and by utilising this workaround until the module has been updated. Nice and systemless...
The above mentioned workaround hasn't worked for everyone, but several other ways of getting it to work have been discussed in that thread.

You'll need to provide some details for that... After flashing the module in TWRP, can you save the recovery log (Advanced - Copy log) and attach it to a post here.
And I forgot to say, but for the V4A module I linked, I don't even need busybox installed. YMMV...

What's the error message when you install through the Manager?

2 Solutions! Problem w/ MagiskHide being disabled after reboot/closing MagiskManager.

Magisk Hide (Masking Magisk SuperUser) - 2 Problems w/ Magisk Hide being disabled after reboot or closing Magisk Manager.
If you are using Magisk Manager and Magisk Root and are experiencing difficulty with Magisk Hide (Masking Magisk's SU) not showing in the Manager's side-menu or remembering its status in settings, it occurs when a file is not automatically deleted and removed.
PROBLEM:
Open Magisk Manager, Settings >> Enable Magisk Hide, close Manager, re-open and Magisk Hide is disabled and not visible (hidden) in the left side-menu. i.e. Exit, Close, Stop, Re-Open & Reboot Reset's Magisk Hide's State to Disabled.
SOLUTION 1.
Force stopped Magisk Manager.
Backup then Delete file /data/property/persist.magisk.hide (0600).
Launch Magisk Manager.
Go to Settings >> Enable Magisk Hide.
Go back to Manager home screen. Swipe to reveal side-menu and check Magisk Hide menu is visible.
Close Magisk Manager or Force stop.
Reopen and Swipe side-menu and confirm Magisk Hide is still visible!
I hope this helps others also experiencing issues with Hiding Super User SU. Thanks Shak!
SOLUTION 2.
Another Fix someone else has also posted Dec 2017 was in regards to an error "fopen: /magisk/.core/magiskhide/hidelist failed with 2: No such file or directory"
The issue is due to Magisk Manager being unable to save the list of ticked Apps to hide from SU to /magisk/.core/hidelist.
Check the existence of the "/magisk/.core/hidelist" path.
Create the "/hidelist" directory.
CHMOD "/magisk/.core/hidelist" to 0644.
Thanks to Dunderball. :highfive:
.
Thanks a lot! I have been looking this issue up for almost a week now.
Solution 1 worked for me.
No worries mate. Appreciate the feedback.
Someone else had a similar issue for a few weeks and was unable to resolve it until upgrading to 16.4 beta. But this isn't viable for everyone due to issues w/ 16.4+.
Thanks!

which version you use ?
I use version 19.4, wont work if delete magisk.db.
LineageOs 17 on a Nexus 2013 Flo
Magisk 19.3
Magisk Manager 7.3.2
safetynet always fails after a reboot.
I tried renaming magisk.db and while magisk kept working generally, m-hide still fails the safetynet test after a reboot until I toggle hide.

How to make a bakup?

Banking app detects root on multiple devices.

My banking app (PermataMobile X) is detecting root with Safetynet passed and Magisk Manager hidden. I asked some other people to install and see if they can pass the root detection to no avail.
I've tried some little things to narrow down the culprit like:
1. Installed Magisk Manager without flashing the magisk 20.4 zip file (unrooted). Detected as root. Uninstalling the manager immediately allows bank app to work.
2. Flashed Magisk 20.4 without installing Magisk Manager. Detected as root, obviously.
3. Went back to previous versions of Magisk and Magisk Manager. Still detected as root.
Anyone can give any tips on what else I can try to do?

If you can pass SafetyNet (cts profile) try to hide :
Magisk Manager with a random name (mandatory) ... and "Your banking app" must be hidden too along with Google Services of course !
There are currently several ways of detecting Magisk that MagiskHide can't circumvent.
If the app isn't using one of those (if it is you'll just have to wait for a possible update to Magisk), you can find some tips and tricks here:
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Hiding_root_from_apps
Magisk cannot hide:
Other known root apps (see "Detecting apps requiring root"). (Shouldn't be a problem since even with a renamed manager and magisk unflashed it still works.)
Remnants of previous root method, including any root management apps (a good way to remove most remnants of root is osm0sis unSU script). (Magisk is unflashed and app immediately works.)
Unlocked bootloader (see Unlocked bootloader). (Magisk is unflashed and bootloader unlocked, app still works. I also tried custom rom and the stock rom.)
A tripped Samsung Knox counter. (Not a samsung phone.)
Xposed (deactivate it or uninstall). It doesn't matter if it's systemless, Magisk can't hide it. (Never used.)
EdXposed. Detection of EdXposed can sometimes be worked around with newer release of EdXposed and/or features like the EdXposed Manager blacklist. (Never used.)
USB/ADB Debugging (disable under Developer options in Android settings). (Magisk unflashed and debugging on, app works.)
Developer options. (Magisk unflashed and developer options is on, app works.)
Some Magisk modules - Depending on what the module does, it may not be able to be hidden by MagiskHide. (Tried core only mode which should disable all modules, still don't work.)
Some modifications to /system. Make sure to use Magisk modules... (I'm not sure what this means :c)
From that list it looks like it's something from Magisk itself that's tripping the detection :/
Im going bald from this.

If you've tested and confirmed everything else, it is very likely that the app is using a detection method that Magisk currently can't hide from.
Solution? Wait for @topjohnwu to possibly update Magisk/MagiskHide (alternatively, don't install Magisk). When? Whenever he feels like it...

Magisk Manager shows "Modules" and "Superuser" grayed out

First, I hope this thread is in the right place and apologize if it is not.
I currently have the problem that the Magisk Manager shows the two categories "Superuser" and "Modules" grayed out at the bottom. In addition, it is also so that the settings of the manager is slimmed down (fewer functions than usual). For this I have 2 screenshots ready: (see attachment and sorry for the German language).
Root itself is still there though (the apps that ask for root still do).
But can imagine that this happened because of the Magisk Hide app. Because I had hid the manager under a different app name, then either accidentally deleted it or restored the original package (can't remember).
In any case, I have already tried to install the manager with an SD card with the TWRP (did not work) and to install Magisk Manager via the apps themselves (pressed install in the first screenshot). This has come the following error message:
Code:
- Target image: /dev/block/
- Device platform: arm64-v8a
- Installing: 24.1 (24100)
! Unable to check signature
! Installation failed
My current status is that this has already happened once with the manager - judging by the bug reports on Github. Can someone please explain me in simple steps how to get this fixed? Thanks!

No need to bump, your post was only 7 posts down, and only one bump is permitted every 24 hours.
The issue is clear from your screenshots. You don't have root. On the Magisk screen, at the top under the Magisk section, if "Installed" shows "N/A", you do not have working root. Magisk is unable to load modules without root.

Sorry, didn't know that.
But I don't quite understand. Why should I have no root if apps like Lucky Patcher, Vanced Manager ask for root and I can verify these requests with the manager?

I'm not sure. I think you can still manage root permissions if you don't have root but I'm not 100% on that.
I suggest re-rooting with the prescribed method for your device. On the Pixels, we just re-patch and flash the boot image.
i hace the same problem in sm a70, the apps request root acces and i press yes and work but if the same app need request more times for example unloking network , the request are send again and again and again
I just took the leap into Android 12 and we t through the process of patching the boot img and flashing it. I have the same issue as the op. I have patched, repatched, and flashed and reflashed at least 4 or 5 times now. No change.
Edit to note that I do in fact have root, regardless of what Magisk says (installed - N/A). Apps like AdAway have root access and are working properly.
I had the same problem on my (very) old J7 (2015).
Am on android 7, and was trying to update Magisk from v24.3 to v25.1
I had to completely remove Magisk, and restarted from scratch.
Flashed the v25.1 apk in TWRP.
Same problem with Magisk 52.2 on my LineageOS 19.1 (Android 12L) installed on GT-N8000 (Samsung Note 10.1). I already tried re-root, re-flash, re-install apk and nothing!

Do you originally have magisk hidden as another app then install mm anew?

I'm not sure about it, but I tried a few versions of Magisk and none worked. I installed both boot.img and magisk.apk via TWRP. The app downloaded and installed by Android always forces an upgrade.

That's because you haveca newer boot than the magisk manager.
Let it upgrade
Then tap the uninstall button
Restore images
Then complete uninstall
Reboot
Install magisk
Reroot

I don't have an uninstall button. I put a print screen in the previous post.
Did you mean to post something if so you didn't
Not sure what to say about no uninstall but i guarantee that you have a double install. Look through your apps. Did you ever hide magisk with a different name, you've got to remember that at some time you did.

I removed the Magisk via TWRP by flashing it with the uninstall.zip file. After installing the Magisk via flash with the Magisk.zip file and rebooting the tablet, I patched my boot.img, went back to TWRP, flashed the boot.img selecting the boot option and rebooted. I went back to the Magisk app and the same problem. I checked via
Code:
adb shell pm list packages | grep magisk
and it returns only
Code:
package:com.topjohnwu.magisk
it suggests I have only 1 app installed (none hidden).
Then I'm out of ideas sorry
