HTC One M7 aptX HD support. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm having a stock htc one M7 and I need aptX HD support. What rom does support it? Or is there a way just by flashing aptX hd on it without bricking anything?
Please help

wait aptx is a hardware thing, right?

Although Qualcomm own aptxHD it doesn't look like any HTC devices support it...
Which devices support aptX HD?
In order to take advantage of the benefits of aptX HD, you'll need to make sure you have a device that supports it. These devices will have the CSR8675 Bluetooth audio system-on-chip (SoC) as it's capable of supporting 24-bit audio from end-to-end.
When aptX HD first launched, not many devices supported it, but now more manufacturers are getting onboard with higher quality streaming.

If the Qualcomm CPU supports aptX then it would get automatically updated to aptX HD on the phones that ware still supported when it came out. M7 has aptX support but HTC doesn't support this phone anymore so i have switched the support to open source.

You'll get AptX with Oreo i think, bat that will be it...

Looking to donate to them.

I have found the solution. Have nicely installed the latest stock ROM backup trough TWRP and nicely installed LDAC and aptX HD zips after it. Only kernel doesn't detect it so you can only hear it.

I think it would be dirty to not use clean stock for that. Also i have found the best fully functional solution. Everything works, just better turn beats audio off.

Built a new rom based on the latest XOSP for M7. Trying to find out how to release it.
Added Xperia X full audio port, aptX, aptX HD.
Fixed alot of audio bugs to match xperia and fixed bluetooth stuttering. Everything else already works.

It use the S810 DAC with latest Snapdragon Hexagon DSP, the Z5 Premium have the same, the amplifier is a TFA98XX (Sadly no S-Master HX)

Definitely is the Z5 DAC better than the Wolfson DAC
S-Master HX is an amplifier by Sony, it enchanting Hi-Res alot and it can upscaling Compressed files (like DSEE-HX)
can i ask please so does the sony z5 premium output 192/24bit without down sampling, in other words if i play 192/24bit will it be output as 192/24
can i ask how can one know that this dac is better than a wolfson dac,
over head-fi forum the people there trash the sound quality of the z5 premium comapred to lg v10

Yes it outputs 192kHz 24bit
And I know that Z5 DAC is better because first: DSEE-HX second: wolfson DAC can only output 96kHz 24bit third: the DSP is definitely better
And the LG V10 uses an higher DAC 384kHz 32bit but the CPU will be on full load if it play that, Sony Z5 would be keep cool and play that without any issues

Could you confirm whether or not the bluetooth codecs LDAC and Aptx HD have been enabled by Samsung?

If you play music on your headphones or speakers via bluetooth, your music needs to be coverted before being transmitted to the said devices wirelessly. The higher quality codec your phone uses to transmit the music, the better your music will sound. (provided the end device can read the codec)
For the time being, the Note 8 supports SBR and Aptx. In theory, Ldac > Aptx HD > Aptx > AAC > SBR.
It supports LDAC but no Apt-X HAD at all. I tried uploading a screenshot but the system said it was too large.

Isn't LDAC a competing codec from Sony? Surprised that Samsung would support it. considering it has got its own version in the form of UHQA.
Would love to hear more about this, since I have the Sony MDR-1000X which supports LDAC.

There's no longer any licensing fees for the use of LDAC in Android O. That is why most if not all Android O phones will support LDAC.
Sony has 'donated' the codec.
UHQA is not a bluetooth codec.

You can't imagine how excited I am as well. I also hope more headphones and earbuds roll out in 2018 with LDAC support.
So I rip all my Cd's (Yes I buy Cd's) because I want 44.1KHZ 2000KBPS uncompressed flac files to listen to over blue tooth into the car stereo. How do I know that I am using the best codec over blue tooth into the car stereo from the note 8?

Check your car's manual to see if your music system supports Aptx. It is 'best' codec your car stereo is LIKELY to support. Aptx is a licensed codec so it should easily be seen in the manual along with its logo.
Bear in mind that audio over bluetooth is ALWAYS compressed even if your car stereo supports the best blueooth codec available today which is LDAC.
Until Oreo drops, there is no easy way to know which codec your phone is using to transmit your music. You could try BLUETOOTH VIEWER on the Play store but results have varied.
I loved the Xperia Z5 Premium only cuz it had LDAC and music sounded awesome with my MDR-1000X. If we get LDAC with Oreo in Note 8, total bliss!!

Doesn't support apt-X? That's too bad.

aptX HD

Any news if S9/S9+ will support aptx HD? It says on qualcomm website that SD 845 supports aptX Classic/HD, but not sure if it will actually be available.
A big question! Plus Sony LDAC?

LDAC is suported. Also somehing called Samsung HD no idea what that is.
Now I'm curious about MQA, since I have Tidal, and apparently the V30 supports MQA... Debating whether to get the S9 or the V30 now.... Slightly better hardware, or better sound? Tough choice...
LDAC will definitely be supported.

As someone with a V30 who can't wait to get rid of the thing, in my opinion the audio quality boost just isn't worth the headaches of LG's crap software. They're basically about where Samsung was on the S4 as far as stability and usefulness goes.

It's a Bluetooth codec it basically sends more data via Bluetooth to your Bluetooth headphones or speaker giving you better sound quality. The headphones or speaker needs to support aptx hd also for it to be effective

No aptxhd as I have the s9+ and when u go to developer settings and choose the bluetooth codec theres aptx only I'm using the exynos version
Interestingly, LDAC is not turned on automatically. You have to go to bluetooth settings, find relevant headphones, enter its settings and then trigger LDAC on.
Is there a way to see how each bluetooth connection is talking? Connect my headphones and see that it is currently using aptx or sbc and such?
Yes that is found in developer options in the settings menu

found a well written article : https://www.pocket-lint.com/headpho...-what-is-aptx-hd-and-which-devices-support-it
and apparently there is a site of apt-x indexing which products support their new codec https://www.aptx.com/products?field_aptx_type_tid=483
it's interesting as well as kinda confusing for customers to find product/s (in this case cellphone/s) that will be able to widely support many new acclaimed HD audio codecs.
in regards with samsung phones with Exynos chip, not sure if it supports aptX & aptX HD as of now.
Turn on developer options, then scroll down and you'll find bluetooth codecs. You can select which one you want to use and quality over performance or vice versa etc.
I can confirm that the Exynos version doesn’t support aptX hd. Seeing as it’s a hardware issue, it’s very unlikely that it ever will. Shame as my new b&w px supports the codec. Guess I’ll have to wait for another phone.

I kinda have a feeling that the 'AptX' codec in dev options is just AptX HD but they decided to call it AptX for whatever reason.
