I’m here to ask you some stuff. I’m about to buy a Note 8, because sadly my beloved Note 4 got stolen (It was time for a replacement, either way)
So, I found the model SM-N950N which is form Korea and has 256 gb of internal storage.
I read a lot this few days about this model, but I wanted to ask you some questions because there are certain things I’m not sure about.
1) It is necessary to use the phone with a Korean SIM card to unlock it, or I just put my SIM from Argentina? (I already check the bands and in theory it should work)
2) The updates are going to be affected because the phone doesn’t have a Korean SIM?
3) In my country, Samsung Pay isn’t available. But according to what I read, this feature only works in Korea. Is it posible to change that without triggering Samsung Knox?
4) I read somewhere this phones doesn’t include google services (This model, or SM-N9500, I’m no sure). If so, Is it difficult to make them work??
I know other possibility I have is the model from HK, SM-N9500, but I would like to use an exynos variant.
According to your answers I’ll decide if it is worth it to buy this model, or but the local one and be happy with 64 gb.
This is new territory to me, so be patient!!

1. no, just use it. Korean models don't have any SIM or carrier locks, or regional SIM activation requirement
2.. SIM is unrelated to updates - as long as it is unmodified it will still get updates
3. you will want to search more about this but no you won't be able to use it in your country
4. it does include them, not sure where you read that.

Thank you for your answer!! @Kalm_Traveler As I say before, I check and this model has all the necessary bands for 3G and 4G in my country. But at in some sites it says it is 2G quad band, and other than it only has bands 900, 1800 and 1900, when in my country we use 850 too.
Is FrecuencyCheck a reliable source? Thank you!!!

Frequency check is not a reliable source as far as I'm concerned.
Back in January I was researching the Samsung Tab S2 international models. One model was the SM-T819N and the other SM-T819Y which I bought in the end. They listed one less band on their website for the 819Y model.
Luckily for me, I used Samsung's own website to check the bands before I purchased it. In my case I checked Samsung Singapore website to see it's tech specs .
So you should check the frequency by visiting Samsung's Korea website and not rely on Frequency Check.

I have a Note 2 that I bought from AT&T. I want to upgrade to the note 3 but I want the N9005 version because I believe that it will be able to use G4 LTE signal from AT&T. The only place that I can buy the unlocked N9005 version is at Negri Electronics. However it only sell the 16 gb version and I want the 32 gb version. Is there any other place in the U.S.A that sells the N9005 unlocked version?

I'd buy what you're looking for in a heartbeat - if it existed. So far it doesn't. At least not ln any of the N3's for the UK, EU, or Latin America that have been announced. The Korean S-800 SGS4 supports AT&T's bands so their N3 probably will also. But the Korean phones have funky TV h/w and a funky MMS system that's different than Western versions. Rogers' (Canada) version will be compatible with AT&T LTE and may be closer to "virgin" than AT&T's version. The challenge is warranty service both because you'd have to send it to Canada for repair (assuming Rogers' services a phone for a non-subscriber) and because Knox prevents resetting the warranty status if a non-standard ROM's been flashed. Speaking of which, you'd probably only be able to flash Rogers' ROMs via Odin unless their N3 was a "pure" i9505 capable of using international ROMs.
And as someone above mentioned there's some question as to what "unlocked" means with the N3 as there are now regional limitations on top of carrier's locking phones to their networks.
If I find a true international N3 that works on AT&T's LTE that's not regionally SIM locked I'll let you know. Until then I'm sticking with AT&T's version and hoping they haven't molested it too badly.

Will the N9005 work on the Rogers network in Canada? I have no idea what these bands and frequencies mean, I just know that I need LTE to work.

You can't just say "N9005" and expect to get an answer. "N9005" refers to generic Snapdragon 800 LTE capable version of GN3, but each country and carrier in the world has different LTE bands enabled in that Snapdragon's SoC radio. Find your Rogers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
It operates on bands 4 and 7 - none of the Euro countries' carriers work on band 4, as you can see from the list. AT&T USA, T-Mobile USA and Rogers CA should be LTE cross compatible in most coverage areas, but not all.
If you buy N9005 version with unlocked bootloader - later, when someone makes Odin compatible with GN3 you will be able to flash Roger's LTE modem firmware to your N9005, no matter which country it is from and what LTE bands it currently has enabled

Okay well I was looking to buy an unlocked N9005 from the UK. Since none of the euro countries work on band 4, what about band 7? Do both bands need to be working in order to get LTE? The problem with buying this in my country is that there wont be a 64gb option available.

Some carriers, which operate on dual band LTE use one band for upstream, and the other for downstream. If that is the case with Rogers you will have to have a phone with both bands enabled, to get LTE service from Rogers. However, even if that is not the case and both bands 4 and 7 are independent - Rogers has towers all over Canada, and in some regions those towers will operate on band 4, in other regions it will be band 7 and in some places towers will support both. By getting a phone that supports only band 7 you will greatly reduce your LTE coverage area. What percentage of Rogers' network uses what band - those details are publicly available, so you can either Google it or just call Rogers and ask. I would recommend against getting a phone, that supports only band 7, unless you plan on flashing Roger's modem to it later.
This not quite correct. A band, by definition includes both the up and downstream frequencies. Only one band is used at a time. Rogers happens to use band 4 and band 7. The OP needs to take into consideration that If he buys from an online retailer an international unit, this unit will need to be activated in its intended region before he can use it in the states.

I've never heard of that. Seems like a problematic setup since the RF properties of bands can vary so much. Seems like you would get in a situation where you have up but not downstream or vice versa.
Yes, you would need a N9005 from Asia, not Europe as those are region locked.

that is a valuable information, which a lot of people, watching this thread could use, not just me. I don't think it will be considered as advertising. People in this thread are looking to buy international GN3, which will work on AT&T in US. If the phone is region locked then it won't work. Therefore, listing the countries, where there is no region lock would be very much relevant to this topic.

N9005 from HK or Singapore (perhaps others too) will work.
The South American N9000 are region locked to South American, North American, carribean etc. SIM cards (western hemisphere).

I am planning on putting some custom rom in the future, will i have any difficulties if i get AT&T or T-mobile?

Att has a locked bootloader - so if you want to flash custom roms do not buy that one. Tmobile version can flash custom roms and so can the international one - I don't know about Englnad, but I know the International Version (at least on the S5) cannot be used in teh states if you want to get LTE - the international phone doesn't have the correct bands to get LTE in the US - I cannot say that is for sure on the NOTE 4 - but it is definately how it was on the S5 and I would guess that at least in this area, they are the same.
So I htink you should get specks for both Tmobile and International and make sure they have the bands you need to get LTE in England. That would be the only real difference between the two from what I can tell anyway.

Im not sure if this LTE works in the UK.

I don't know why anyone would recommend the international version. It has no warranty and NO support for LTE in North America. The T-Mobile version is fully compatible with AT&T, and works quite well (I am using it myself). LTE speeds are excellent, along with reception. I have no complaints. The only thing the AT&T might offer is HD voice and carrier aggregation.
The op resides in Europe (UK). Get the International snapdragon that works with your carrier's bands. And it also seems that the sm-n910f has all the same bands as the t mobile version

I can;t speak aobut the LG - Never used it - no desire to - The Note 4 is simply the most amazing phone ever made - no comparison in my book - regarding TMOBILE SUPPORTED LTE BANDS _ I just don't know much about which bands are used by providers in Europe - I know their phones are not compatible here in the US - at least not on any phone I have tried - but I don't know if the same is true with US phones in Europe or england. Either way, good luck.

I live in UK so thats why I am wondering about AT&T and T-Mobile versions, they are both unlocked though.
As far as I know, I will not buy AT&T cz of the locked bootloader.

I found T-Mobile version around 490GBP whereas international version is more expensive, but they say they have the same frequencies. So im guessing i wont have any problems in the uk!?

I also found N910K version which is the Korean version. Is it the one with the Octa-core CPU, or Im mistaken?

I didn't see you live in the UK. In that case, i don't know about the T-Mobile version. I always thought Samsung had its own unlocked European version?

I'm assuming the T-Mobile version N910T would have no warranty support in your country.

I honestly don't know about TMOBILE working for LTE in the UK - the only experience I have is attempting to use an International S5 in the US and when I tried, I could not get LTE - I assumed that the NOTE and the S5 have the same bands - if that is true, then International phones won't get LTE on ATT in the US (I don't know about TMOBILE) and regarding which bands are supported by Carriers in the UK - that is where I am completely lost - a

Hi, thank you for your efforts on this.
Unfortunately, I'm not a tech person at all and don't really understand how to determine an answer to my question. I'm wondering if you can answer this for me:
I have a Note 5 that's the n920w8 model. It works with my Canadian carrier, Wind, which is AWS 1700/2100 to which they say, "20 megahertz AWS-1" (whatever that means). But they don't offer LTE yet (though they're working on it).
However, it's only 32gb. I've been looking to importing an international version that's unlocked and has dual sim. Its model number is N9208. However, I can't find a definite answer online of whether the imported version will work with my provider and I can't afford that $1000 gamble.
If I'm reading your chart correctly, the difference between the two is that the W model has 1700 and 2100 but the 920 only has the 2100. You've noted on the right that Wind uses that 1700. Since you didn't note on it, is the 2100 in your chart also Wind?
In short, should I import this phone?

I picked up a Silver Titanium Duo Sim version and it definitely works with Fido's LTE.

Has anyone got the N9200 (dual sim) in the UK? I have seen it being advertised as supporting bands 20/26 for LTE.
@aez and @Deliximus, can I ask where you guys got your phones? And are either of you able to confirm they work on Wind? Is there a Wind shop near you you could pop into and check by having the drop a sim in? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
Hmmm. I'm a bit confused as my T-Mobile Note has many more bands than what is on the website... See attachment. I wondering if the *#2263# is actually accurate?

I have the exact same bands on my N920C. I don't think those are all the supported ones, beacuse I believe the N920I has exactly the same displayed, but band 20 isn't working on that model...

Ah... That's what I thought. I believe the original list is indeed correct.
will a sprint note 5 work on ATT. I entered the serial number in on att website and it said it would work? would I still get lte
I want to buy Note 9 128GB Dual SIM Snapdragon version. This version is not available here in Bangladesh. Only Note9 SM-960F/DS is available. Which is Dual sim 128GB/256GB with Exynos CPU.
Any suggestion from where I can purchase this Snapdragon Dual SIM version of Note9? Also need to know how I can be confirmed whether it will work in my counties network (GSM, 3G/4G LTE/VoLTE).

1) As for compatibility,it would help to know which network(s) you plan on using.
2) As for where to buy,the world's your oyster. As to single or dual SIM,most of the listings I've seen for the SM-N9600 (Snapdragon) are Dual-SIM,you'd have to verify that w/the seller.
3) Also,which RAM/Storage configuration are you interested in?

1. Grameenphone: EDGE, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA, HSPA+, FDD-LTE
2. Didn't find in walmart. I wanted to buy it through one staying now at USA.
3. 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage

Compatibility definitely isn't a problem.
IDK the particulars regarding bringing your own (compatible) device to Grameenphone.
Barring no policies against it,IDK if the phones they sell have carrier-specific items that'll only work on their phones (software/firmware related restrictions).Wi-Fi Calling/VCo-LTE/VisualVoicemail come to mind.......

Finding US retailers that sell this version of the Note 9 are virtually non-existent ATM,but,that will likely change in another couple of months (B&H Photo/Video comes to mind).
Amazon (USA) has 'em,but,they come without any warranty whatsoever.
Never imported a phone before, but I really want the s10, and I dont want to give up my custom roms.
What should I expect with using the international S10 here in the states? Will the network coverage change? I use tmobile, will that make a difference? Is wifi calling disabled?
If someone could at least steer me in the right direction, because I'm a bit confused on how these things work.

You'll have to compare band support (no clue what Exynos has). US model contains ALL bands for T-Mobile. B2, 4, 5, 12, LAA/46, 66, and 71. Carrier aggregation for these bands may vary between the Snap and Exy.
Now, the main reason I wouldn't import is due to warranty coverage (or lack of). You can walk into a Samsung center in the States, and they'll repair your phone. Free repairs for burn in, batteries, etc.
Historically, Exynos models of S8 and S9 don't support T-Mobile bands 66 and 71. It's not yet clear if that's the case with Exynos S10. I wouldn't get a new, expensive phone to be used on Tmo if it doesn't support these bands, but if your area is not served by those bands and you'll never travel to B66, B71 areas, you might be fine without.
You might have to wait for developers CSC hack for Tmo VoLTE and wifi calling support if they're not supported out of the box like Exynos S8/S9. Not having VoLTE/wifi calling would suck for me, but it would also suck to not have root because of locked bootloader (US S8/S9). It's a tough choice for some people, myself included.
I've never seen any situation where my T-Mobile S7 got reception where my rooted Exynos S7 did not, nor any other connectivity differences. As mentioned, you may live in an area where this could be an issue, but for me in the Bay Area and LA areas of California, I've never seen any difference. It's a 3 year old phone, so there may be some differences at this point with the bands an S10 supports, but having an unlocked bootloader trumps losing a few bands, to me.

If I import, the UK version, will it be region locked? Where I have to have a 5-10 min call in the purchasing country before I can use it in the USA?

I believe so, clove.co.uk opens the phone and makes the call for you before they call. Not sure if I really trust them however. Most people dont have a problem but I have heard horror stories.
