This is definately a firmware bug that it only fast charges whilst the screen is off. Saw this in the early days with my note 5 and an update fixed it.
Funny though with the Samsung wireless fast charger i just received and my old Nokia DT900 wireless charger the only difference in time is 5 mins... so much for fast charging.

Living in Sweden, I cant use the original charger (without an adapter), so I'm using the iphone charger to charge my Nexus S. The iphone charger is 5v 1A, vs 5v 750mA on the original charger. It works, but it takes forever and forever. around 14 hours from almost drained to +90%. If anything, shouldn't it go faster?
Something broken, or am I missing something?

Long charge times have plagued the Galaxy S line of phones since the origina i9000; seems to have improved on the NS for me, but it doesn't charge nearly as fast as an iPhone (but iPhone has smaller battery).
Yes, I'd expect a 1 amp charger to go at least as fast.
I'm curious if your phone charges faster on the USB port of your computer than you're getting with that charger.
Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the charger or cord you're using?
As soon as I saw .75a on the provided samsung charger I chucked it back into the box and have been using the 1a charger from my HTC aria instead.....I still get pretty slow charge times compared to my N1 but nowhere near as slow as you are getting!! (14 hours) I too would be interested to know how well/poorly your NS charges through a pc usb or another charger, it sounds like you may even have a problem with your device :s
That samsung charger is just a POS all around IMHO tho....its ugly as sin (freaking huge) and only .75a?? cmaaaaannnnnnnnnnn, samsung!!!
I'm using the little iPhone USB charger as well and my phone still takes over 3 hours to charge. Charging time is horrendous.
My charging problems occur perhaps every tenth time I try to charge it... So something with the negotiation seems thinkable...
Couldn't this hurt the battery/internals?
I received this unit for the note 7 but with the unfortunate event, I had to test it with S7 Edge which, on paper, works exactly as same as S7 and note 7.
This thing charges very quick, I'll say faster than ordinary power banks or cheap 5v 1A adapters.
I'd like to do a comparison on charging speed (see images) on Galaxy S7 edge with LG G4 for this charging pad.
I was going to add note 7 on this review but with all this recall issues, I'd update as I go. IF I ever get my hands on it again
there are two LED indicators, green means fast wireless charge, and blue means ordinary wireless charge.
on S7 Edge, took about 25 - 30 min to go from 25% to 46% with cool temp (30 - 32C) , that's pretty good for wireless.
on LG G4, took about 25 - 30 min to go from 21% to 33% with warm temp (40C)
on S7 Edge, it outputs up to 1.5A with 4V on my quick charge 2.0 adapter.
on LG G4, it outputs just shy of 0.8A with 4V on my quick charge 2.0 adapter.
by comparing these two setups, I concluded that it charges close to twice as fast as regular charger. I am very impressed.
I also have CHOETECH's regular wireless charging puck. I have to say, the regular puck I have is easier to charge, meaning it tolerates slightly off center but still charges as well as offer greater charging distance off from the pad, but this fast charger doesn't tolerate much, I'd have to remember to position in center for it to charge my devices. but you'll get used to it as the LED indicator will flash if you didn't set your phone straight, solid light means good. also it works well with slim cases as you can see it on my attached images.
I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about getting fast wireless charging.

and this is the regular wireless charging puck I was talking about. blue LED works with ambient light, meaning it won't burn your eyes at night. it dims automatically.

I've got the black Samsung Wireless Charging Stand which comes with Samsung's fast travel charger. It's very fast and I use it with my SM-G935FD (Dual SIM S7 Edge Exynos). Comparing the times from the fast charger, the wireless stand is usually just 10-20 min slower. That's according to the estimate Samsung shows in the notification tray once you plug it in. Haven't measured the timings myself yet.
The temp goes around 35C to 38C during fast charging but if I leave it on the charger even after full charging, the charging stand stops charging but the battery temp stays at 32C. Off the charger, it will fall to 26C which was a little disappointing since I would have loved to leave the phone on the stand all day since it looks cool especially with the Always On display clock. I measured the battery temps with CPU-Z.
Charging speed is definitely faster than a normal charger plugged in.
Ebay must be 7.5watts and not 10watts

I had a previous model of this unit which was at the old "slow" charge rate and was so pleased to get the new and improved version. They even fixed the few issues I had with the older version. This model has the charging cable in back instead of sticking out the side, the LED indication light is much dimmer, although larger, which makes it easy to see where to place the phone in a dark room and not act like a flashlight while trying to sleep.
The display angle is acceptable, it works well through a case, although I haven't tried a Defender case yet and the fit is more secure than even the Samsung charger..
The unit uses a microUSB connector and a 2.1A adapter, not included.

To anyone thinking of wireless charging for our device - I advise against it. Not only will it charge rally slowly compared to the standard charger - it'll generate a tonne of heat and kill your battery rather quick.
I use a cheap chinese QI pad and it doesn't get hot but I discovered you need to switch off fast charge (under battery) and it works fine. Granted it charges at a rate of 20% in 30 mins but for overnight it fine....mine doesn't seem to get hot or even warm.

I have used wireless charging since the Nexus 4 and never had any trouble with reduced battery life. Nexus 4, Galaxy S4, Note 3, Note 4, and Note 5. Except for the S4 which I returned to switch to a Note 3, the battery life is about 20 to 24 months with little or no reduction in usability. When I get a new phone I hand the old one down to my wife and other family members, and I have ordered the new batteries when needed.
I know it's supposed to but damn **** is slow!! When using phone I'll sit all day charging the damn thing . It takes a good 2 to 3 hours charging when screen is on. Plane ridiculous! Anyone know of anything to make this better? Will a high amp charger charge it faster? Sick of this I can't charge it for 30 minute while using it before I have to leave , only it being charged 10% in the time being

Ideally to charge the note 8 fastest you'd either want to use a qualcomm quickcharge 3.0 compatible charger or a USB type C charger with Power delivery (USB-PD), along with a decent cable such as the one included. The Note 8 will say Fast Charging on the lock screen if it's being used with an optimal or near optimal charger/cable combination.
It doesn't fast charge while the screen is on, it barely charges at all.
The output is not far off what the input is when you are using the phone and fast charging.
(Price you pay for a big screen)
If you were using a regular charger and using the phone your phone wouldn't be charging at all it would still discharge.
Simple solution just don't use your phone for half hour !
Charges to full in 1 hour and a half without the screen on
Or charge it overnight? That's what I do and it easily lasts until the next night
I have several samsung fast chargers, but only some of them would work on fast charge.
I realised it was a problem with the cable, so I swapped them to the original Samsung cable and all the fast chargers work on fast charge now.
So check the cables ....

I have a funny setup: solar charger/table decoration connected to a wireless charger (stuff from ebay with Samsung logo).
So I assume it will charge so slow if any at all. But still.. at least won't discharge during office hours.

Well it should not hurt it. If most, like all wireless chargers they are actually good for your battery health. Wireless charging charges slow but does not strain the battery as much. If you fast charge your phone it does worse to the battery long term
However if you post the model of your charger we can look it up and be sure

I had the same questions. I also see there is an option for fast wireless charging in settings. If slow charging is better for battery health and you mostly leave your phone charging over night, would it be best to leave fast charging off so it takes most of the time you are sleeping to charge slowly until full?
At the moment I leave my phone at low charge while I sleep and wake up 2 or 3 hours earlier to plug it in so that I don't over charge the battery.
Wireless charging creates more heat so this question is hard to answer as I have not seen any good breakdowns of qi vs fast. I have been wirelessly charging from older chargers like the wireless charger that came out for note 4 and some 3 coil charger from Nokia that was on clearance for $15. They're not fast wireless charging and phone does get warm. I also charge off of 500ma and 1A chargers usually and only use the adaptive fast charging (QC2.0) when I need a quick top up. Heat doesn't help your battery.
Perhaps somebody can do a comparison with regular qi, fast qi, 1A or less charger and the adaptive fast charger and see what the min and Max of battery temp is through out charging cycle. I'm guessing 1A charger is the best and regular qi is ok. Fast wireless and Fast charging get your battery temp higher.
