RAM dropped to 4 GB after flash of stock ROM, device randomly hanging from then on - Maze Alpha Questions & Answers

Hello everybody,
in the first days of september I received the Maze Alpha 6GB RAM that I bought on Gearbest. Everything went well until the first days of november, when the flash and the rear camera began occasionally to disappear. I mean that it often happened that any camera app could take selfies only, and any torch app couldn't switch on the flash.
I imagined that it could be a software problem, so I did a factory reset, but the problem didn't disappeared.
So I flashed the official stock ROM that one can download from the Maze Mobile's website (http://www.mazemobile.com/download-center). It didn't serve either, but after a while I realized that it almost surely is a hardware problem. Maybe there wasn't a good contact between inner components: applying some pressure in the camera and flash area it looks like everything got back to normal.
Well, almost everything: since I flashed the ROM downloaded from the Maze Mobile's website, the real problem is that the maximum RAM available shown now is 4 GB (as in the recently used apps list's activity, for instance). What's more -and this is the worst part- more often than not my Alpha reboots on its own, when things go well. When things go wrong, it just hangs showing a black screen and I need to press the power button for some seconds to let it reboot (I need to realize that the device hung, of course).
I'm afraid that the ROM downloadable from Maze Mobile's web site fits the 4GB RAM model only. I didn't even think to this possibility, since there's no warning on Maze Mobile's website about it.
In the very last few days I exchanged a few messages with Maze Mobile support, but it looks like that since last friday their e-mailbox is full. I'm trying to understand if they can publish on their website an official stock ROM for the 6GB RAM model too.
While I try to restore the thread with Maze Mobile support, I ask here if anybody already has a ROM fitting the 6GB RAM Alpha, or at least if anyone can give me some advice about restoring the full visibility of the 6GB RAM on my device.
Have a good week.

Those who flashed their 6GB RAM with the official stock ROM from Maze mobile website experienced the same thing you have now. That means that ROM is only compatible with the 4GB RAM version of Maze Alpha. What you will have to do before getting some help from Maze support is to try and request for help of those who have 6GB RAM to upload it somewhere you can download it.
Meanwhile , you made a mistake by not saving your firmware before doing flashing the ROM.

Yes, you are undoubtedly right, but since Maze Mobile published one ROM only on their website, without writing any hint about the target model, I thought that it would have fit both models. Anyway, that ROM isn't downloadable from Maze Mobile's website anymore.

It's what I did by writing "I ask here if anybody already has a ROM fitting the 6GB RAM Alpha, or at least if anyone can give me some advice about restoring the full visibility of the 6GB RAM on my device." in the end of my first message of his thread. I hope that posting the same issue elsewhere will get more visibility.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing, lol .
I've emailed Maze twice with no response. Hopefully they are going to upload both firmware versions soon.

I'm glad to know that I'm not alone.
There's a fitting Italian way of saying: "mal comune, mezzo gaudio", that is the same of the English "a trouble shared is a trouble halved". Pity that the Alpha still acts crazy!

This means that I must feel happier, since they actually replied to me a few times.

Hey people! Hope you all are doing good,
It's hard to believe that a smartphone company can be as lame as maze.
I've placed an order for 6gb variant they say it'll be here in Amsterdam on 15th of December i'll create a backup flash rom of the actual built with MTKdriodtools and i'll upload it for you guys :')

That's news to my ears thank you for mentioning that I'm quite relieved I was wondering if they'll upload it or not. I hope that I'll receive my package soon PostNL says it is expected on Monday from custom clearance and then they will dispatch it for delivery.

Actually it looks to me like it's still a sort of an undocumented URL, since it isn't published anywhere on the Maze Mobile website (they also removed the link to the ROM for the 4GB model), and I don't really know how @kimi1465 who sent it to me got that URL.
But it's clear that it is the original Stock ROM for the Alpha 6GB and it worked like a charm on my device, that's all I need know.
Inviato dal mio Alpha utilizzando Tapatalk

Thanks for the link to the proper rom file to the 6gb version
Now if anyone wants to buy a basically brand new 6gb Alpha for cheap..... let me know lol

I checked and Gomdolight is for Korean version (f340 I think), are you sure you can?
(in the thread of Gomdolight, 1 guy was successfully installed, but he said nothing different, hhope he did not mean about wifi)
Could you report your try here?
Thanks in advance
Yes, I did as well and came to the same conclusion as the Dev did regarding the post stating no real changes noticeable. I plan to pm that member later on to see if he has any more feedback/advice before I commit. From what I gather the more modded features involve Korean based apps and such so for a D950 user not to notice is not surprise. I should know more tomorrow evening weather or not it is effective or not. Would do it sooner but I need to stay connected today so..... I'll keep you posted.
For me, the wifi strength is important. The rom itself does not matter.
Anyway, waiting for your post
==== edit =====
I had some time to check Gomdolight. Actually it is not a ROM, but a Modifier (remove system apps)
I don't think they change something for wifi-driver, which I believe is the problem for the weak wifi.
but just let me know how it is improved with your Gflex
thanks

Hey,my apologies to all who were waiting on the results of my attempted flash of the Gomdolite firmware mod. I'm sorry to report that although it installed successfully( albiet in a limited capacity due to variant and build discrepancies), it did not resolve my wifi woes.I will continue running Gomdolite despite that fact. Off topic and my apologies in advance, but it has improved my devices overall speed and fluidity. Hope someone has a solution soon...Btw, since my D950 doesn't have to function as my primary phone as of yesterday, (returned to Samsung, Note4) I am willing to Guinea pig for the common good of finding a resolution to our issues.Let me know if you got anything to test.

I have BTV-DL09C100B303. Didn't see -B307 on firmware finder. Pretty strange: I'll check again.
BTW the -B303 is stil BlueBorne vulnerable and introduced some annoying bugs.
EDIT: no way still -B303).

I think by now we know about your panic.....go on and change and things are ok. But please stop. I have never heard, never had and probably never will have to deal with Blue-whatsit.
I for one knew beforehand that Huawei are not too keen on updating.
I also would be interested in which file needs to be used from the above....I had the same problem using Firmware Finder....

No quote. Who are you writing to?
EDIT: yes, I guess it's me.
First, I'm not in panic since I'v been waiting for months.
Second, that was the last check before shipping the tablet back, because I like(d) it a lot.
Last firmware check got no news, so I regret to say that it's not my problem any more because I'm not an M3 owner any more. As simple as that.
Of course each one of us is free to make its own choices, I'm not here to complain forever: I acted as a Consumer and the Producer was damaged by its own behaviour.
I'm not a zealot: I'm a second chancer, anyway. So maybe I will be back again with something else.
I hope that for that time, Huawei will have learned the lesson.
No quote because I am referring to the post before mine.....
I fear the harsh reality is that Huawei wont learn any lessons from your postings, no matter how often you point to them.
Anyway, best of luck with your next device.
I forced this update as soon as it popped up on FF today. Comes with November security patch, emui 5.0.1 (can't notice anything new btw), and low resolution power saving mode is still not working, but oh well. The changelog mentions better touchscreen calibration and improved battery life but I can't tell a difference. I'm pretty happy that it got updated, hopefully they'll fix the low res mode for power saving, back on emui 4 it made a big difference in battery life.
This version is not vulnerable to blueborne btw.
The only difference I've noticed from B303 after 5 days is an increase in standby battery drain. Very annoying.
Actually i have the 303 version whit firmware finder and I saw that there is a compatible version of 307 dated 20.10.2017. Are you reecomended to force the update?

Well, people complaining in mass with Huawei, or better some americans suing H. for millions after being hacked because of BluBorne... I imagine those things could change Huawei's behaviour.

Thank you. I will keep an eye on Huawei products, though. By the hardware point of view they are very nice, but this Huawei's attitude of considering software security as "not so important" is anachronistic.
Hi there. I'm from Germany and use a BTV-DL09 with firmeware C100B303.
I would also like to Upgrade to B307. I saw that there are 2 Versions available in Firmeware Finder. Which one should I get? The 2,4GB or 500Mb?
500mb i think is ota, 2,4 gb is a complete rom

Few questions about Tencent version

Hi all,
apologies if this has been asked to death. I have found some conflicting info around the web.
I have a few questions regarding the Tencent version of the Rog 3 (8/128 GB strix). As you know most of the ones available on ebay are Tencent versions with global rom installed. Here are my questions:
1) Do they receive ota updates? Do you need to change fingerprint to get ota?
2) Do apps like netflix, google pay and banking apps work? I saw a post from a US person who said their banking apps worked on the Chinese rom version.
There are few international versions available on ebay but the price difference is huge! I don't mind having to flash roms etc if it is possible to get either ota working or I can download updates from Asus site and manually update and also if it gets banking apps/google pay working. Has anyone had experience with these issues?
I live in the UK btw.
Update 30/09/2020:
So, I have finally got my hands on the phone (12/128 Tencent version with WW) and here are a few thoughts:
1) OTA does not work but I have managed to download and install latest update (78 I think). Fairly easy process and so is not an issue.
2) Google pay, bank app and Netflix work fine.
3) I had to manually enter APN for Virgin Mobile to get internet access.
4) 4G speeds seem much slower. Maybe due to fewer bands supported by the Chinese version. Will test it out in more locations and networks later. If I continue getting poor 4G speeds I might return the phone.
5) Black crush is a problem. Dark scenes in videos are not great to watch. I hope they can fix this.
6) Camera is OK at best. Coming from Pixel 4XL I can notice a big difference. Gcam works ok. Slightly improves image quality.
Will update again after I've used it for a few days.
Cheers.
I bought a Tencent 12gb and 128gb storage version and you cannot get ota updates, however if you manual download them and place the file in the storage root, it finds it and installs without any issues. The fingerprint works fine, as well as google pay and all my banking apps (natwest, nationwide and paypal).
What I understand however is it depends on how they set the device up before sell - mine was converted properly i guess as it hasn't given me any issues with updating and downloading banking apps, the 144hz works as well as finger print. It takes WW firmwares without any problems.
I bought mine from a UK seller on ebay who was selling converted versions.

Asus only let you unlock bootloader one time...so who purchase those tencent global gonna be stuck until forever and ever lol or some Dev figure out to unlock from another method.

i have the rog phone 3 strix edition with 128 gb rom and 12 gb ram with sd865. I live in saudi and the phone i got was flashed to global rom, yes no ota updates but manual update is easy to do and i have no problem. My carrier has no problems but its a 5g capable phone but i have a 4g plan xd. Netflix works fine as well as everything else, when you flash you basically have the international phone version, no bloatware or chinese apps anymore and playsTore is fantasic as on a samsung note 20. There is one problem for me, that is when i put my brightness low the screen refresh rate becomes 60 fps, nothing that i do can fix this i am on latest version 2007.58 ive heard other people have same problem-any solutions?

Question Chinese version XT2137-2

Hi all,
I’ve got this phone from China (via Aliexpress) with original Chinese firmware. All technical specs match the description included in the initial release except the amount of volatile memory: mine has 8gb. That is what seller advertised as well but I couldn’t believe until I received it. Pretty good phone for a child for its price. The only problem is that Google family app doesn’t work (like on all phones for China) and I can only select between English and Chinese languages. Thinking to flash EURETEU firmware, but only concerned that the device ID is different (last digit). Any questions and advices are warm welcome.
Show both Id's?
I reckon if its for your fone, and your a flasher lol, go ahead.
The end digit could mean anything without seeing it..?

I haven`t tried flashing it yet, but will probably give it try soon
Just use Motorola's recovery tool. Nothing will happen if you switch firmware.

How did you update manually?
I am new with this equipment and it has been 2 years since I flashed cell phones. Mine is also Chinese with global ROM
What is the correct way to install it? Wait OTA or how?
OTA , local update file.
To do this go to the update window, and keep pressing on miui logo for about 5 to 10 times. You'll get a message saying additional features added. Then press the 3 dots and choose (choose update package). Should start updating immediately after you go to the ota file downloaded to your device.
If you get any errors for any reason, relocate the file to the following directory ( download - downloaded_rom) and put your file there.

at first, i thought the same, but after a day of using it, way better and faster than before.
Some stuff have been fixed.
For instance when you changed the DPI in MIUI 13, a reboot would reset it (which frankly is a pain...)
Now on MIUI 14 it sticks after reboot
Dark mode seems a bit better implemented as well.
I agree that everything feels slightly snappier (But it was already too notch anyway)
Was considering upgrading to the 13 Ultra or Honor Magic 5 Pro but I am less eager now...

The latest snapdragons are faster, but unless you're gaming it's doubtful you'll feel it in everyday usage.
Battery life likely a bit better and that you would see it.
What I care the most about is the camera. I have a feeling that it's been significantly improved since the phone was released (No idea id MIUI 14 improves it further, too early to tell). Unfortunately DXO doesn't retest later during the phone life so it's hard to tell if the newest phone are actually over performing significantly in that department (Sensors haven't improved much and the software seem to be what makes most of the difference)
