Oneplus 3t bootloop. (I think) - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello, I rooted, and installed custom recovery on my 1+3t. And the new update came out. I decided to give it a shot. Long story short. I locked my bootloader. And when I try to boot it up. It shows logo for one second, vibrates, and is stuck in that bootloop. I can get into recovery, and fastboot, but bootloader is locked. Any ideas?

Use recovery unbrick tool.
And don't lock your bootloader when you're going to flash any kind of mod, like Magisk.

You can unlock bootloader if you have activated oem unlock and usb debugging in the developer option. Then you are good to go for custom recovery..

You should never re-lock your bootloader after you flash anything not signed by OnePlus. Your device can never be booted up and only can be fixed if you use the unbrick tool by Qualcomm.

My thoughts exactly.
To the OP, you don't need to lock the bootloader to update this device. And you should never lock the bootloader with mods on the phone (TWRP, root, etc.).
Good rule of thumb, is to read up before doing an update like this. Would have saved you a lot of hardship, as all the info is here on XDA for those that care to search and read.

Possible bricked nexus. Need help

So I picked up a nexus 6 that was said to be bricked. It was cheap so I figured what the hell. Anyway it's stuck in fastboot. No matters options it goes back to the fastboot screen. In logs it says "invalid boot image header." device is locked status code 2. What chances do I have of getting this back up and running?
Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk
Locked code status 2 = bootloader locked right?
Paperweight.
So there is nothing possible to do? I was under the impression is was almost impossible to hard brick a nexus 6. I guess i was ignorant. lol
the N6 and N9 was when they started having the oem unlock enabler in developer settings menu and without the ability to boot and enable that setting its just as screwed as any other locked phone.
Are you talking about bootloader mode?
Locked bootloader+stock recovery (no TWRP) =bricked.
I've read where others have typed "fastboot erase bootloader" which has removed the bootloader so the phone won't even start.
If you have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP then you can recover from most issues. I've formatted my phone with no OS before. You can adb pull a zip in or flash via OTG. Locking the bootloader with no custom recovery or ROM prevents you from installing anything

Bricked phone

Hi
I've been so stupid that i locked the oem setting, without any OS an recovery.
By all that, i've been searching online for a solution for days, without any luck...
So now im back with a phone that's oem locked and can't unlock it because i can't allow oem unlocking in developer settings, and can't do adb push because i do not have any recovery on the phone.
Is there anybody that can help me?

Can't you get to the bootloader and fastboot the stock google images? This is a N6, right?
@ktmom: He can get to the bootloader, but it's locked, which means fastboot is not an option. Worse, he apparently has no recovery installed so he can't sideload an OTA.
The OP is screwed.

Yeah, spaced
What about running recovery on the pc? I've never done that. I guess it requires an unlocked bootloader also.
I dunno, this is an N9 thread as is this one, but if I was in this position, I think I'd read through these.
I didn't think of that. It may work. Then he can sideload.

Power up arrow to get into bootloader mode
might have to unlock bootloader at this point (dont remember the exact process you can google it) should be another fastboot command
fastboot flash recovery preferably twrp
then you should be able to load up a rom

How can i make a running recovery on a pc?
Tried to search for it, but i cant find anything on it
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
The above command sends the device into recovery mode using an image stored on a PC's hard drive. From there the owner of the device can use the recovery just as if it were installed in the /recovery partition of the device's internal storage. Files that the owner of the device wishes to use are stored in the device's internal storage.
It won't help the OP however. An unlocked bootloader is one of the pre-requisites.
Cant boot up a live recovery either, because of tge locked bootloader...
Anyone got other ideas? Im really lost with this one
Contact Lenovorola and pay for the privilege of having your device serviced. You're totally screwed.

Found the Problem!
The Device say's its unlocked but it wasnt so i unlock it second time and it just reboots after second unlock in to the TWRP.
Maybe it will help someone
You couldn't flash TWRP if you didn't unlock bootloader - and the phone warns you that bootloader is unlocked
If you want to get rid of the warning, you must re-lock bootloader, but it will trigger factory reset
Btw, enable Development options and check if OEM Unlocking is enabled
And in Fastboot, check does it show Bootloader and FRP unlocked

I really ****ed up

So, I ****ed up.
Earlier this night i hard bricked my device while trying to uninstall Magisk. Used a guide that worked and was back on stock OOS 3.5.0.
In the old Oxygen OS I installed TWRP. But the thing with the recovery was that you needed to boot recovery from the command line with the command
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
. If I booted into recovery in any other way the screen is just black and never boots.
When I tried to install OOS 4.0.1 I got error code 7. Googled it and it just told me to relock the bootloader and install the OTA instead.
I relocked it, and when it was done I got the prompt to fill in the password to start Android. But the thing was I did not use any security options, no fingerprint or pin code. So zero luck there. And now I can't boot into recovery because I didn't flash the stock recovery because I'm a retard, so when I'm trying to boot recovery it's just black. So I have no chance to come back. Please help...
So this is not a hard brick. It's a brick for sure, but a Hard Brick is where you cannot boot up your phone whatsoever.
Now, assuming from the vague details you've provided, you can boot into the normal boot logo screen? You should be able to get into fastboot, but if you can't since you've not mentioned it, there are still ways of getting your device back into OOS.
If you can get your device into Fastboot;
1. Boot into FB
2. Unlock your bootloader
3. Reflash TWRP
4. Boot into TWRP
5. Flash ROM of your choice.
If you can't get into Fastboot;
Use this thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306)
OR use this one if you want the updated tools and follow the instructions on the above Thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/help/ultra-brick-oreo-firmware-ob16-nougat-t3689356)
What you need to know;
Never lock your bootloader when you have a Third Party recovery or ROM installed.
Never interrupt the unbrick process.
Please do a search here on XDA before you post a new thread. There have been similar issues solved multiple times on this Forum.
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply, I tried to do the method with the MSMDownload thing yesterday, but the computer did not recognize the device. It was late in the night (5am) so I went to bed. This morning I took my other computer and plugged my phone in, it recognized it and I was able to fully recover the phone!

This isn't good idea. As already noted, never relock the bootloader on this device with TWRP, root, etc. It should only be relocked after returning to full stock condition.
Also, never install an incremental OTA when you have TWRP (root, etc.), only the full update zips should be used in that case.
Try to stick to these forums for advice. Maybe the guidance your found above is not specific to this device?

Softbrick? Not sure

Hi guys, thank you ahead for helping me.
I've unlocked the bootloader successfully and installed TWRP and Rooted, but found some issues with Banking apps, PayPal, NFC, Google pay, so I decided to lock the bootloader again.
Following the procedure by Jerry08 downloaded C35, installed via TWRP, and stock recovery was restore just fine.
But while trying to access Bootloader I'm not able to, tried:
adb reboot fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
Holding Vol down and power
Deep-in test says: "you can only apply to exit in-depth test after carrying out bootloader lock operation in fastboot mode"
Last method worked, I get "bootloader" with Chinese words flashes for a second and then reboots to system.
I'm able to boot into stock recovery, but not into Bootloader for some reason, Formatted Data and tried again without luck.
Any suggestions?
Installed RMX1931EX_11_A.09_200116_dfb212dd.ofp with Auth-Flash and MSMTool, you need to purchase credits 7$, use #3 MSMtool from Auth-fash and done bootloader locked and brand new phone.
But bootloader was still unlocked, and not able to access bootloader via adb reboot bootloader.
In-deph test exit does not work either
any updates i have the same problem
