Galaxy Tab Active 2 - forum ? for question on new tablet - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My apologies for posting a question on what is most likely the wrong forum - but after 15-minutes of searching, I could not find the right forum for a new Galaxy Tab Active 2 question.
This is a question more related to software and may be more generic ?
My wife is the owner of a new Galaxy Tab Active 2 , and she is struggling to have her many Android applications installed not on the 16-GByte internal memory, but instead on a 128 GB microSD card she has in the Tablet. She has found various guides, but they either are not applicable to Active2 (as their menu options don't exist on Active 2) or they simply only work for some apps but not the necessary/important to her applications that she wants to transfer to the microSD card. In particular she would like the application "Line" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.naver.line.android&hl=en ) and also "WhatsAPP' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp&hl=en) configured such that all their data goes on the microSD card. Unfortunately (especially for Line) she has not been able to do such.
Can anyone point me to the correct forum area ?
Again - my apologies for likely posting in the wrong area.

I own tab active 2 sm-390 too. 16gb is really not enough. We can only wait some professional to root the machine. Once root, we can try 'adaptive storage' or other app like 'App2SD' to save internal storage.

Just want to update you that I solve the storage problem.
1) You need to download the firmwire , extract the 'boot.img' file. Then, copy the file to your tablet.
2) Then, you have to install Magisk Manager and run the manager to patch the 'Boot.img'. In setting, remember to set the output file to odin format.
3) Copy the patched file to computer. In computer, run odin to install the patched file to tablet.
4) The tablet will then be reset. Now, the tablet is already rooted.
5) Then, run Apps2SD, you can move all apps to SD.
I am now have around 50 apps installed.

Please a step by step
Awesome!
You are such a genius to give us this good news
Can you please provide us a step by step guide and also the links to the files so that we can follow.
Thank you so much

How are you getting root.

I have the galaxy tab active 2 / T395 and have tried all the stand alone apks out there that claim they can root any android device; 'KingRoot, KingoRoot, OneClickRoot, z4mod.z4root, Rootmaster and Framaroot'. But do absolutely nothing for the T395 active 2.
However I can confirm that 'mark.mccv' method of rooting DOES WORK for the T395.
I guess the days of using CF-Auto Root & TWRP are over for the newer Nougat 7.1.1

You forgot to mention, when installing the 'patched_boot.img' you need to turn 'OFF' both the FRP & OEM locks. Otherwise, when trying to flash the 'patched_boot.img' through Odin on the PC.
The devices download screen shows 'custom binary boot file' blocked by the FRP & OEM locks......
For anyone stuck on this ROOT process , you turn off the FRP lock by just deleting your Google accounts from your devices settings page.
Remove, turn OFF the OEM lock , by going to 'settings' > 'developers tools' > 'oem unlock'
On flashing the patched_boot.img , you will see a verification screen page after reboot, which forces you to reset, reformat your device. So back up your files beforehand.
Once reset, your device is rooted, ready to install busybox , adaway etc.

Well Crap...I just got my Nice, New, Sparkleing Tab Active2 and cant root it yet. I have the New US version SM-T397U Unlocked model. cant find a Stock firmware on Sammobile as of yet...any ideas?
EDIT: Neeeevermind... I did a lil hacking and cracking (for about 26min, lol) to find the files I needed for the SM-T397U. If anyone is looking for em let me know and I'll shoot em' your way. Guessing I'm the first person to root a T397U, hope more will follow. I havent even had this thing 6 hours yet. Thanks for the write up and all those that contributed to the tools and info.
Crap: posetd this is two threads, realized i was typeing in the wrong one, cut and pasted and still hit send. oops

Worked perfectly, Thank you very much!
WARNING: THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING ON YOUR TABLET.
Backup all of your important files before you flash the patched boot.img using odin.
I tried to backup my app data using samsung switch and it worked, but didn't restore most of my device settings and all of my app data.
(Good thing I kept backups for my important apps that had in app backup functionality - like Nova launcher and Squid)
Also, If you are having any trouble, then you can take a look at this thread (more detailed): https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab/help/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-tab-active-2-t3775664
Last thing, you probably won't be able to get OTA updates after you perform these steps, it doesn't matter though since this tablet isn't going to be updated that frequently (The 8.0 update is going to come at the end of 2018, source)

Did App data remain after rooting

Hi mark.mccv
Please confirm if the data remained (i.e. was not erased) after the rooting?
Thanks in advance.

I just came across a little gem, my uncle Gave me his T397U that he used to use for work, but has since upgraded!!!! I was so stoked until I powered up to realize that’s its full on knox mdm and is running what I’m assuming is the OS from his job, accessing reg samsung os at all is only possible through safe mode at the present moment ...I apologize if I’m in the wrong area, I’m vey New and honestly not even navigating around the boards to efficiently just yet ! Hopefully someone will want to throw me a bone! Thank you all for the amazing plethora of information!!!!

[GUIDE] Complete and Thorough Guide to Rooting the Nexus S [+ No wipe] [GRH78C]

May NOT work for 2.3.3, if attempting on 2.3.3 use old part 1! - Will wipe all data though
Windows ONLY!
Hey guys, rooted my Nexus S today, and decided to write a thorough, detailed guide on how I did it, as none of the guides I had found had everything detailed. I came across a few problems, and all of this is in the guide. I successfully completed it on my Nexus S running 2.3.2, so any version below that will also work.
The original guide was made by AllGamer, and can be found here. I followed this guide, and added things when I found it was needed
The full guide with everything (including links, pictures) can be found on my site, Complete Android.
New info: Upon finding another thread over at XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931865) it has been realized that you can root your Nexus S without unlocking the bootloader, and therefore not loosing your data on the SD card. Part 1 for the new method is still the same, but choose the new Part 2!
WARNING: Rooting your device will wipe all data off it, so you will loose EVERYTHING! Make sure you backup all important data first. Only applies to old Part 2 (fastboot oem unlock method), but it is still a good idea to backup important information!

What you will need:
Nexus S (obviously)
Android 2.3 SDK
USB Cable
PDAnet (for drivers)
Clockwork Recovery Image
Superuser
Part 1
Download the Android 2.3 SDK (or direct from Google here, 32MB).
Once it has finished downloading, unzip it, and run the SDK manager.
Select whatever components you wish to install, but you MUST make sure you install Google USB Driver (Available packages > Third party Add-ons > Google Inc. Add-ons > Google Usb Driver package, revision 4) otherwise this guide will not work!
We must now install the Google USB Driver, or the phone will not be recognised as a device other than a mass storage device.
Connect your Nexus S to your computer, and put it in USB storage mode.
Put it in USB Debugging Mode (Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging)
Windows should now recognise your Nexus S when you plug it in, and ask to install drivers. It probably won’t find anything, so we need to help it manually.
(Installing drivers manually varies between Windows versions, so please refer to http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html if you are having trouble). Launch Device Manager (you can find it in Control Panel), find Other Devices, and listed under that heading, you should find Nexus S. Right click, and select Update Driver Software. Click Browse my computer for driver software, find your SDK folder, then the google-usb_driver folder inside it, click OK, then Next. This should install the USB driver successfully. Reboot your computer.
Power off your Nexus S, connect it to your computer via USB cable, and boot it into the Bootloader Interface (you can do so by holding down the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time).
It should say LOCK STATE – LOCKED, in white just above the green Android. You are now ready to move on!
Part 2 - Fastboot oem unlock method - WIPES ALL DATA!
We now need to install PDAnet on our PC so that Windows can see our Nexus S when we are using the Command Prompt. Install PDAnet from here, select Samsung when asked about the Manufacturer, allow the driver to be installed (because the driver is unverified, don’t worry about this!). Follow along with any other instructions. You should be set now.
With the latest SDK version, some tools have been relocated to another directory, so we need to make a copy and move them back. Navigate to the directory where you unzipped the Android SDK file in part 1. Inside it, go to the platform-tools folder, and copy both AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll. Go back to the main Android SDK directory and find the tools folder. Paste these two files in there, and we are all ready to use ‘fastboot oem unlock’ (the rooting command) now.
Open a command prompt window (Start > Run > cmd.exe).
Change to the tools directory within your Android SDK folder by using the following command (without the quotes and replacing *YOUR SDK* with the path to your Android SDK folder) ‘cd c:\*YOUR SDK*\tools’.
Make sure your Nexus S is still in the Bootloader Interface (refer to step 9, part 1 of it isn’t).
Now in the command prompt, type in (without the quotes) ‘fastboot oem unlock’.
Now turn your attention to the phone, and read through the new information displayed on the screen. Using the Volume keys select Yes, then press the Power button. This will WIPE EVERYTHING! I bear no responsibility for any lost data on your phone!
If everything is successful, on your phone, the LOCK STATE should now read UNLOCKED, and on your computer, the command prompt window should say something like this:
Download the Clockwork Recovery image (here if you don’t already have it) to your Android SDK tools folder (*Android SDK*\tools).
Rename the newly downloaded Clockwork Recovery image to ‘recovery.img’ (no quotes).
Now we need to flash it to our Nexus S, so enter this command into the Command Prompt (make sure it is in the Androis SDK tools folder!) ‘fastboot flash recovery recovery.img’ (without the quotes).
If all is successful, the Command Prompt window should look something like this now:
Download the superuser app to the Android SDK tools folder.
Power on your Nexus S, leaving it connected to USB.
Mount the USB storage, and drag and drop the superuser .zip file you just downloaded into the root of the internal SD card (so Computer > *Device Name*, not in any other folders!). It should look something like this:
Power off the Nexus S, and return to the Bootloader Interface (step 9, part 1).
Select Recovery using the Volume buttons, then the Power button.
The phone should reboot into Clockwork Recovery, but if not don’t panic, just repeat steps 9-12, including downloading a new copy of the file (mine only worked the second time around, don’t worry!)
Using the Volume buttons and Power button, select install zip from sdcard.
Select choose zip from sdcard.
Select the su-version#-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier and apply it.
Select yes (there are lots of nos).
Confirm it says something like this: install from sdcard complete
Select Go Back.
Select Reboot. (You will now also have an unlocked padlock when you boot up)
Done! You now have to set up your phone again like when you first got it, but it will be rooted now.
New Part 2 - Does NOT wipe everything - Keeps a locked bootloader
Make sure Part 1 is completed.
Make sure you have downloaded the Clockwork Recovery file and the Superuser file.
Move the Clockwork Recovery file to your tools folder within the Android SDK folder, and rename it to recovery.img (for simplicity).
Connect your Nexus S via USB to your computer and mount it as USB storage. Copy across the Superuser file to the top level of your sdcard. (So the first window you see, not in any other folders. The sdcard is just where all the files are stored, don't worry about it too much for now).
We now need to install PDAnet on our PC so that Windows can see our Nexus S when we are using the Command Prompt. Install PDAnet from here, select Samsung when asked about the Manufacturer, allow the driver to be installed (because the driver is unverified, don't worry about this!). Follow along with any other instructions. You should be set now.
With the latest SDK version, some tools have been relocated to another directory, so we need to make a copy and move them back. Go back to the main Android SDK directory and find the tools folder. Paste these two files in there, and we are all ready to use 'fastboot boot' (the boot image command) now.
Open a command prompt window (Start > Run > cmd.exe).
Change to the tools directory within your Android SDK folder by using the following command (without the quotes and replacing *YOUR SDK* with the path to your Android SDK folder) 'cd c:\*YOUR SDK*\tools'.
Make sure your Nexus S is still in the Bootloader Interface (refer to step 9, part 1 of it isn't).
We now need to use the 'fastboot boot' command to load Clockwork Recovery onto our Nexus S. In the command prompt, type in the following (but without the quotes, as always) 'fastboot boot recovery.img'
Once you are in Clockwork Recovery (it may take a couple of tries, don't panic, just redownload Clockwork Recovery, and complete steps 3 and 10, part 2) it should look something like this:
Using the Volume buttons and Power button, select install zip from sdcard.
Select choose zip from sdcard.
Select the su-version#-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier and apply it.
Select yes (there are lots of nos).
Confirm it says something like this: install from sdcard complete
Select Go Back.
Select Reboot.
Done! You should still have all your data present on your phone, and have root access!
Notes
As AllGamer said in his tutorial:
It’s normal to lose the recovery after the reboot, the steps to flash the CW recovery needs to be repeated every time you want to access the CW recovery.
This is due the build in protection in 2.3
As some one pointed it out on another topic, the good thing about this is that you’ll never lose the stock recovery of 2.3, thus minimizing the chance of a bricked phone.
If you want to the CW recovery to remain permanently, you’ll need to rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to something thing else

Keep this in mind! It's not because you did something wrong
Also, some root apps require BusyBox to be installed, as I found out with Titanium Backup, so once you set up your Nexus S again, head on into the Market, and download BusyBox. It installed fine on my Nexus S this way, and now TB works fine.
I hope this is the best, most thorough guide you will find on rooting the Nexus S. Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated, and I will help out if you need any extra help.
Your guide has been wonderful however I'm stuck on part 2, step 4. I tried writing in the path to my directory and they keep giving me whatever I wrote in the command prompt "is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
"Change to the tools directory within your Android SDK folder by using the following command (without the quotes and replacing *YOUR SDK* with the path to your Android SDK folder) ‘cd c:\*YOUR SDK*\tools’."
This is how my command prompt looks like when I first open it. "C:\Users\Du>"
and this is what I typed in the command prompt: "Downloads\android-sdk_r09-windows\android-sdk-windows"
^^^I did exactly what you said above and nothing is happening. I don't know whether I'm writing in the directory wrong or what. Please help me out thanks
Your guide is nice, however as shown in distortedloop's stickied Root & Recovery thread, fastboot oem unlock is not required for rooting & flashing. We no longer have to lose all our sdcard data when first rooting and/or flashing a ROM.
Other than that, this seems to be a nice amendment of Allgamer's sticked root & recovery thread. I'm sure it will be useful to many.

Ok so if you want to change directories in the command prompt, you need to use the command
Code:
cd
So in your case I would type in
Code:
cd c:\Users\Du\Downloads\android-sdk_r09-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools
That way is fool proof, however you could take a shortcut, because you are already in the Users/Du folder (because of how it looks when you first open it), you could just type in
Code:
cd Downloads\android-sdk_r09-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools
Hope that helps

I'm not sure that wiping all your data pointlessly is "cleaner."
It's not even clear what exactly the oem unlock of the bootloader really does for us, since you can get into clockwork recovery without that step. Once you're in clockwork you pretty much own the phone. I'll be interested to see if someone can use clockwork to flash a new boot image once rooted without the unlock; if so I can't see any reason to unlock the bootloader. That said, mine is unlocked, and I like it that way, but many won't root for fear of losing data on the phone.
Even if you end up having to do the oem unlock in the long run for some activities you want to do, it seems that rooting, then installing Titanium and backing up your apps and app data fully is a better way to go than just losing all your data (any app that doesn't store its data on the sdcard) that can't be backed up without root would be a lot less painful than WIPING everything on the phone, including the sdcard.
It's not worth arguing about, but I think any method that is including the oem unlock step should at least mention that that step can be skipped. How many people will go through the pain of a wipe that they didn't need to because they didn't see that there was an option without it. I guess that's there own fault for not doing enough searching on their own...
Anyways, nice and thorough effort. I'm sure many will benefit from your additions to AllGamer's tutorial.

I have been wondering that myself. My guess is that for the average user you don't need to, but maybe it's for real power users who build their own ROM which has been fully modded or something, I'm not sure.

Exactly, this is one of the better uses for both methods. I already had to wipe my phone twice due to Samsung CS so I'm used to it Although it does give you a chance to clear out the apps you don't need. Doing that I noticed better battery life on my phone.

I wasn't going to argue I'm happy to adjust my tut to include something about this, after all it was aimed at more beginners.
EDIT: Added a new part to my tutorial based on your guide, just includes some more detail. Thanks again.
Thanks distortedloop
This is awesome cause i relocked my bootloader i really just needed root. Thanks!
Edit oops lost track of tabs open.
I think we can use this method to unlock oem without wiping data.
boot cw -> full backup -> unlock and flash cw (wipes data) -> restore backup (got ur data back and oem unlocked)
the only problem i can think of is that restoring backup would re-lock oem again but i am not sure of that.
i can't try this right now but if someone could, please give feedback.

That's what I suggesting a couple of posts above (root without unlock to at least make a backup of user data).
Restoring a titanium backup would not re-lock the phone. A nandroid restore might, depends on what all it imaged and restores, but it's so easy to re-root, that doesn't seem like a big deal.

I've been working on it I just wanted to get it up here as soon as I could That's why I mentioned that the full guide is available on my website. I'm going back to school today, so I don't really have too much time for changing links now. Besides, most people on XDA should know how to look at the 'What's needed' part

Jonathon,
Thank you for posting this detailed guide to rooting without losing your data! I do have a question. As you've probably heard, there are a few updates coming soon and if they are like they were on the N1, they always broke root. So getting root back was tricky unless I "unrooted" before applying the update. Using your method, is it easy to "unroot"? Thanks!
No problems
As for your problem, I never actually had a N1 so I don't exactly know why that would happen. So far from the 2 updates available to NS owners it seems like the OTA update does break root but it appears to be the same to get it back again. Can someone confirm this? I haven't been through an update with my root yet.
As for unrooting, if you haven't unlocked the bootloader (so you have followed the new part 2) I think it is just a case of finding a stock image (I think there's a GRH78 one around here somewhere) and booting into Clockwork Recovery and flashing it. That should remove root and then also give you a notice to install the GRH78C OTA update so you get the latest version.
I think that is what you meant? If you did unlock the bootloader (using the original part 2) then I think you just have to follow the same steps as I mentioned just then but afterwards go back into the bootloader interface and run 'fastboot oem lock' and it should be right.

Question on Part 2- step 1.

Why above step is required if one already installed USB Driver for Nexus S and "ADB devices" command can find the device ?
On Allgamer thread didnt ask to repeat installing USB driver ?
What purpose for the pdanet driver ?
I dont want to put redundant drivers into my system which may interfere each other during flashing process.

When I tried to use the fastboot command with my Nexus S connected, it would hang and not do anything, despite leaving it for about 5 minutes. I searched online, and found the PDAnet solution, so I don't know what the difference is exactly. All I found the Google SDK USB drivers to do is enable you to see your device in Device Manager, however you could try it without the PDAnet drivers, and let me know what happens!
Thanks
Thanks for the prompt reply.. I tried out the google driver..it doesnt work under fastboot. I eventually get the fastboot enabled driver..that could explain why the pdanet driver required.
After i installed the fastboot enabled driver, i could test the connectivity under fastboot with "fastboot devices"
thanks going to try out rooting..i just want simple root access..without wiping data is a ++ ..
I managed to run fastboot boot recovery.img...going into clockwork menu..apply the superuser.zip.(for froyo version)..till completion..no word of failure..
However after rebooting, su and SuperUser.apk are not installed.( I used adb to check the system/app and system/bin folder.
Edit- manage to root properly after system mounting .
Just a note..to properly complete the rooting, one need to apply mounting then mount system before applying the Superuser.zip install from sdcard.
Prior to step 11, you may want to add the following steps for folks having problem to get the superuser.zip to install properly.

[Guide] Absolute Newbie's Guide to Rooting a Streak 7 that has Stock Honeycomb

Obviously this guide owes a huge bunch of thanks to "TheManii", "Giveen" and other folks who can't be named on this forum. I have tested this on both a Streak 7 WiFi and a Streak 7 4G. In both cases they had the Stock Honeycomb already on them. So if you are coming from some other version of Android you may wish to reconsider
1) Download the Fastboot+ADB.zip file for Clockwork Mod 5.0.2.7 from the XDA Developers thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334487)
2) Download the Clockwork mod 5.0.2.7 file from the XDA Developers thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334487)
3) Go into Settings->Applications and turn on "Run Applications from Unknown Sources"
4) Go to Development Settings and select "USB Debugging"
5) Unpack the Fastboot+ADB file into a directory on your computer where you can find it again
6) Attach the Streak to your PC, and copy the "Drivers.zip" file from the root directory of the Streak (/sdcard) to the same directory where you unpacked the Fastboot file
7) Turn off your Streak after you have copied this file, and disconnect it from the PC
8) Unpack the drivers.zip file and find the "Setup.MSI" file. Execute this file to install the drivers you will need
9) Put your Streak into Fastboot mode - i.e. turn it off, then turn it on by pressing the Power button while holding the Vol DOWN (-) at the same time. This can take up to 20 seconds
10) You will get some red text followed by a white line saying something about Fastboot USB downloading is active
11) Connect the streak to the PC now, and it should install an Android ADB driver. Depending on what you have already setup you may get some drivers installed successfully, and some not. In general if you've been following this guide, you'll be ok
12) Open a command line for the folder where you have fastboot and your recovery image (ClockWorkMod) - in windows navigate to the folder, and hold the shift key while right clicking
13) On the command line type the following:
fastboot -i 0x413C flash recovery recovery.img (where recovery.img is the ClockworkMod or other recovery file)
14) On the command line type the following:
fastboot -i 0x413C reboot
15) Your device should now reboot
16) To get it to reboot into CWM, turn the Streak off, and then turn it on again while holding the Power Button and Volume UP (+) at the same time. This may take up to 30 seconds
From here you would follow the normal CWM options to install just the root files (Superuser7 for one example) or install a custom ROM.
It turns out steps 9 - 15 are also a great way to fix the problem when your Streak comes up and starts asking for a Password when you never setup a password. For some reason installing one of the custom ROMS also installs a version of CWM that is not as recent as the 5 series, which can lead to issues with the signature verification (i.e. when things go "boom", Android sees the partition as encrypted rather than just "locked"). So steps 9 - 15 allow you to put in a later CWM which does a proper wipe, and you're back in business. Have to reinstall apps, but the data is left alone.
Just in case I'm not the only one who has run into this
Ok, I used this guide to modify my Dell Streak 7 wifi. After I was done my screen kept flickering and I put it back to stock thanks to AndroidOVERALL putting together a post on how to complete the restore.
I have searched about the screen flickering but didn't find a resolution. Maybe I missed it, but it seemed that others had the same issue and it was either a hardware problem, the brightness was adjusted, or auto rotate was disabled. I tried adjusting the brightness settings and many other settings but the issue was not resolved until I returned everything to stock.
I have a Dell streak 7 wifi, US version with Honeycomb.
Please point me in the right direction if this issue has been resolved and I missed it. If not any suggestions?
Did you load a custom ROM after following these steps, or did you just reboot aft getting CWM installed. Usually the flickering comes from an issue with the video driver (so can be software if a bad driver, or hardware if it's only marginally in spec).
For any one who gets to the end of the steps and now can boot in go CWM but doesn't know what to do about getting rooted.
Very very Simple.
Download Superuser7.zip
http://www.tablet-cables.com/streak/tools/root/Superuser7.zip
Have your Streak booted normally and USB cable hooked up.
Move to the internal Memory Superuser7.zip
power off device
Power back on using Vol UP & Power Button
Select 2. Software upgrade via update.pkg on SD card and press power
CWM will load.
Select install zip from sd card and power to enter.
select Choose zip from internal sd card and power.
use Vol UP to go backwards to your files and select Superuser7.zip and hit power
move down to YES - Install Superuser7.zip and hit power
thats it. its rooted.
goto ++++++++ Go Back+++++++
and reboot system now
and let it reboot.
Not necessary, but I'd suggest running Superuser and hitting the Knob icon top right (settings) and scrolling down and updating Super User.
Hope this helps someone who may not know where to get Superuser7 and what to do after following the great guide above.
thanks!
nothing sucks worse than a bad download -- happend TWICE! (dayum!)
got rewt?

It's saying that it is looking for an SD Card and not finding it, so that certainly makes sense. However, it sounds like it is looking for "update.pkg" rather than "superuser.zip", so is it possible you accidentally selected the "Update" option in CWM rather than the option to select a file?
He doesnt have clockwork mod installed, you must have CWM installed to flash zips
OK, I have a new Streak 7 t-mobile with HC 3.2. I plug it to the pc running xp sp3, and it needs drivers for MTP and Streak7. I pointed to the Fastboot+ADB folder I extracted for the Streak7 driver and it installed Android ADB Interface. Pointing there for MTP fails to find a driver. I can't get to the internal SD to get the drivers.zip because my computer won't recognize the Streak until the MTP driver is installed. After installing an MTP driver from the net, I can see the internal and external SD. I copied everything to a single folder labelled STREAK in c:\ and unplug the Streak from the pc. I put the Streak into fastboot mode (Volume - & Power), wait about 10 seconds, then plug it into the usb port. The computer see the Fastboot device and needs a driver. I point it to the STREAK folder (former Fastboot+ADB) but it didn't find a driver it liked. I tried to install manually, but there is no Android 1.0 or Android ABD Interface devices in my list. I do see Android USB Devices, but it is empty when I click on it. ANYBODY else get this, and how do I move forward? I followed the guide to the letter, and appreciate all the work & effort you guys put into making these root methods available. The Streak7 is a cool little device, but I think it will be cooler once I root it. I have rooted my Epic 4g and the wife's Evo 4g on this same computer, and I do have the Android SDK installed (even though I don't know how to use it).
OK, so I used all the same files I have here and was able to successfully get Clockwork flashed & gain root. I dunno why the xp machines don't like these files. I tried 3 other xp laptops before getting to my wife's Windows 7 laptop, which worked just as described in the very well-written guides. #MindBottling!
I cannot even find the drivers.zip in step6. WIN7x64 and a brand new tmobile streak 7. where is this thing? I looked through all the folders and subfolders.
Drivers.zip is in the main directory of the Streak. Open up ES File Manager or a similar program and you should see it. To get it to your PC, attach the Streak via USB and let it mount as external storage (default behavior I believe).
In my main directory on on my streak, using ES file explorer, i cant seem to find that file. I see acct, cache, config, d, ....etc folders, i scroll down, i see default.prop, init, init_recovery.rc, ...... var files, but i dont see drivers.zip. help I need to get honeycomb so I can use skype front facing camera, cause I understand froyo 2.2 can only use the back camera w skype.
Since this should be a common file for all SD7 units, can someone please email that file to me so i can get past step 6. [email protected]

From this I gather your Streak did not ship with Honeycomb. That would explain why you didn't find the file as that is something that I gather Dell added when they changed how they shipped it later on. I am not sure what the redistribution rules are for the file, which is why I haven't posted it myself.
That said, I also can't guarantee this process will work for someone starting with Froyo. I do know there may be an issue with which version of CWM you can use in that case. As such, you may want to check one of the other guides to be sure.

Explain please? Shouldn't drivers be present no matter how it's shipped? Mine came with Froyo with drivers, I OTA'd to HC and I still have them.
Ya I bought this from dell directly about 3 weeks ago. From what I have been reading on XDA, mine is definitely different. Its a tmobile streak 7.
Android 2.2.2
Kernel : 2.6.32.9
OEM ver: GLUNB1A133633
Build : 15420
Another thing I noticed is that even trying to load CWmod through fastboot, my computer does not recognize the DS7 in fastboot mode. The drivers in the fastboot+ADB zip file dont work on my computer as fastboot drivers (or maybe I should try another CPU). My cpu is an AMD 64; running win7 pro 64; i need some serious help.
I think I bricked!
Ok I followed the directions from here to root my tablet.
http://www.cesgeekbook.com/2011/12/root-dell-streak-7-with-honeycomb-32.html
All went well! Everything worked and I was rooted! did the Superuser7. Clockwork came up and installed. All went right! So I was pleased. I figured I would later than put on a ROM cause it was late. Well was going to do so and tried to go into clockwork via ROM manager. Didn't work! Kept rebooting! So I figured I would try the pother way "Press Power and +" then click to Install from SD Card to go into Clockwork. That didn't work either! Then Now it won't reboot at all! I can get into fastboot and I can get into the bootloader. But that's it! I tried to do a Factory Reset and nothing! it just stays on the Dell boot screen. Anyway to fix the problem? If so, please give me step by step directions on how to do it.
Use of ROM Manager is generally discouraged due to unknowns about how the package will work with other ROMs. It also isn't clear to me which version of CWM you were using.
If you can get into fastboot, then you should still be able to use ADB, and I would suggest trying to reinstall CWM as indicated in the first message of this thread. That way at least you should be at a known good spot for us to try and help you get a custom ROM installed.

Didn't know about the Rom Manager issue. I guess it's only good to use on cell phones? Anyway, I am trying again, but the problem is my laptop is now not reading the tablet when in fastboot mode. I have followed all the step again. Including reinstalling the drivers. But since it's not reading the tablet. I can not reinstall CWM. The version I installed was the one from the 1st page. It's a fairly simple thing to do. But just need to get the device to be read by my laptop.
I have contacted Dell and explained to them the problem. They did say that I can return it to get it fixed. but still kind of hoping I can do it from home.

Not sure what you mean when you say the laptop is not reading the tablet in fastboot mode. When in fastboot it should NOT show up as attached storage. The best way to tell if it is "really" seeing the Streak 7 is in step 13 - which uses an id rather than a device name so that it should work even if the tablet isn't fully identified. If you try to perform step 13 while in fastboot, what message are you getting?

[Q] S3 LTE I9305 - Unable to boot, corrupt OS? and data recovery

Hi all,
I hope you can help as something very strange and unusual has happened to my Galaxy S3 LTE i9305 (on Orange in UK). Samsung technical support tell me they've not heard of the issue before as do the official repair shop. I have never installed any unusual software or tried to access the internals etc.
On Sat 26th Oct, in the evening, the phone was connected via USB to my laptop charging. There was no data transfer taking place, and the laptop was idle. The phone was not in use, nor was I nearby but randomly it showed the Samsung splash screen logo - it looked a little weird as it was pure black but with random speckles of coloured dots (which made it look like a Galaxy - I thought perhaps I hadn't noticed it before). I was unable to reset so took the battery out and replaced. It did the same thing and then on the second time of removing hte battery the screen became completely white with black marks generating a fuzzy effect - it's been like this ever since.
I get the white fuzzy screen if attempting to turn the phone on, or attempting to recovery mode, however if going to the install option (which I assume happens before Android boots), the screen is absolutely fine and proves not to be at fault. I should add the screen is cracked slightly, it has been since April and is not the cause of this random error.
Tech support tell me that they'll happily accept it back but ultimately, they will wipe the phone and send back as reconditioned. I've tried to connect via Kies, device not found - nor is it when connected to a computer - infact the computer tries to 'install device drivers'.
I'm sure everyone says this however I am an organiser of a large local festival in the UK and the phone has some very important detail storesd in the ColourNote app which I need to access - also the contacts appear not to have synced with GMail since May.... I'm desperate to access these files, for money too potentially, but cannot afford to go down the simple, wipe and reformat easy option. Can you help? Do you know any software that can access data from the internal memory card (note I've removed the external card which contained the photos) How about once the phone has been wiped, to try and see if anything can be recovered then.
Would really appreciate your support, this developer community is my last option and you're normally so awesome, as can't find any reference to the problem online.
Is your colour note app not synced ??
You can try RECUVA data recover.
You need to read the faqs and guides first .
Including the one that covers storage and recovery ..
Samsung reject warranty on phones that have damaged screen .

Hi,
....no I had never set it up. So ironic that was on the to do list in the app.
I'll look into Recuva, is that for before or after I send it off. Is there much chance do you think?
Yes, sorry. I meant to say I also have phone insurance which covers the screen so will have it off to them first, and then onto Samsung - ie 2 places of data wiping!
Thanks for your reply though,
Kind of hoping I may just be able to fix the problem, even if only temporary, but realise it's unlikely

Hi mate,
You can try flashing just the system (and boot) images if you think it's a software issue.
That way your data partition will be intact.
Instructions:
Step 1) Download the Stock ROM you want to use
Step 2) Rename the file from .tar.md5 to just .tar
Step 3) Open the .tar with WinRAR or something similar
Step 4) Extract: system.img (and boot.img if you want the Kernel)
Step 5) Create ODIN file from .img files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484304
Step 6) Flash the new ODIN file to restore your firmware to Stock!
On Windows you can use Cygwin to run these commands if you don't have access to Linux.
NOTE 1: That guide uses recovery.img as an example but you can replace that text with system.img on the first line.
NOTE 2: If you are adding more than one file (eg. system.img & boot.img) simply list them one after the other with a space between each file.
NOTE 3: Do not include data.img, it WILL wipe your data! Do not include cache.img, hidden.img, these MAY wipe your data!
Best of luck, I hope this helps you out :fingers-crossed:
Have a great day!
-Shaz
So, here’s how you can recover data from a Soft-Bricked Android smartphone:
1. Once you’ve installed a custom recovery on your device, open it using the specific method for your device. E.g for Samsung you can turn off the device completely, then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key and you will be able to access the recovery. These methods vary for different devices.
2. Once in CWM or TWRP Recovery you will find a number of options.
For CWM Recovery, select “Mounts & Storage > Yes”.
In Mounts and Storage menu you will find some more options, from the list select “Mount USB Storage or the option depending upon your choice.”.
Now connect your phone to your PC using the data cable.
As soon as you connect your phone to your PC, the USB Storage / Internal Storage will open up in folder view.
You can copy all of your files to your PC now.
3. For TWRP Recovery, Select “Mount > USB Storage”.
Connect your phone to your PC and it will open up the USB / Internal Storage.
3. Copy your desired files.
That’s all! You can easily recovery all of your data stored on the internal storage of your Android device.

Galaxy S5 SM-G9008V Owners' Thread

Hello all!
I was very lucky today to be able to pick up the China Mobile variant of the Galaxy S5, one day early, and 1000 RMB cheaper! I've attached some photos to this post of both the handset, and the phone in the official S-View case to show what it looks like. Hopefully as other people pick up this variant of the phone, we can collect our findings here, and be able to help each other out as needs be.
First impressions are good. This is the single-sim version of the handset, and has 16GB of storage. No Google Services, unfortunately, but hopefully that will be something that will be rectified soon once people cleverer than I am get their hands on it and root it, etc.
If anyone has any questions, please ask away and I will try to help to the best of my ability!
edit: been a couple of days of usage now, and just received first update from the network to build number KOT49H.G9008VZMU1ANCH 2014-3-26.
Anyone else out there picked up the same model? Hopefully, there are some enterprising people out there working on root and recovery, as the phone is a little gimped without any Gapps on it!
Hi,
Thanks to bubbl3 there is a much better and easier version available. Did that with my phone today after upgrading to the latest official ROM and really worked perfect... :good:

Hi
got the G9008V (Samsung S5 - China Mobile TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE Version) and I am struggling with the following three questions:
1. I do not need the device to be rooted; I still want to be able to receive OTA-Updates - but I want to install Google Apps. Is that possible?
2. If the device needs to be rooted, is it possible and did anyone do it successfully yet? In this thread this model is not listed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537 (On Taobabo already many shops offering rooting of the device but I prefer to use some offical version from XDA Developers to understand the process better.)
3. Did anyone already spot Custom ROMs for downloading? Links are appreciated.
I had a fruitful exchange
also e in this forum to unchain my HTC S720t; hopefully this can be also done for the SM-9008V...
Cheers,

Hi bobopopo,
Glad to hear I'm not the only one!
I've had the phone for a week now and have successfully rooted and installed Gapps. As far as I'm aware, it's necessary to root in order to do this. I used the universal root method shown in the Android Development section of this forum, and the recovery image which I got from a Chinese message board http://www.tdbeta.cn/thread-134676-1-1.html - be aware the recovery menu is in Chinese, so you may need a Chinese speaker/reader to help you with it if you don't speak Mandarin.
If I can help further, please let me know!
Hi Cocytan,
yes, feels good not to be the only one...
Sounds good that you managed to install the Google Apps, that will make life easier (if you are relying on Google stuff).
I have never rooted a Samsung phone (I only used HTC for a decade) but should be workable. I can deal with a Chinese CWM Recovery but for convenience I would prefer an English version. (Just for the convenience of others, the description of the universal flashing process can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717061 )
<deleted>
By the way, this looks also like a good resource: http://www.shuaji.net/samsung/s5/ It appears that they also have custom ROM for download - but it does not seem to be clear what this ROM is about. I would like to have a standard non-Chinese ROM (e.g. Singapore) that comes with the China Mobile radio stack. I have that for my S720t and it is clear of any China Mobile rubbish what is quite nice. Hopefully someone will have the knowledge and mercy to provide something like that...
Will try on the weekend, thanks so far!

Successfully rooted now and with Google Apps
Hi,
As it took me quite some time to get the courage and read through various threads until I finally successfully rooted my Samsung S5 G9008V I would like to quickly list what I did. It was actually quite simple and I would like to say a special thanks to Xiaolu (here named Chenglu) to compile an English CWM recovery file for me.
So here is what I did:
1. Followed Ricky310711's tutorial at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648 on 'recovery' with Odin 3.07 and by flashing Xiaolu's g9008v-cmw-recovery-6.0.4.8-en(0420).tar.md5 - 12.33 MB
2. After that proceeded with thread from 1. and step 'root" by downloading the universal rootkit S5rootkit.zip and putting it on the SD (you only need this file, nothing else to do).
3. Put the S5 into recovery mode (Volume+/up, home button and power for several seconds).
4. Select 'install from zip' and locate S5rootkit.zip on your phone (probably on external SD card). Execute installation, should end with a success message.
5. Download matching Google apps for the Android version (at the moment 4.4.2) and put them on the SD card as well (I took these: http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps/4.4.2)
6. Put the S5 into recovery mode (Volume+/up, home button and power for several seconds).
7. Select 'install from zip' and locate 4-11_GApps_Standard_4.4.2_signed on your phone (probably on external SD card). Execute installation, should end with a success message.
Thumbs-up to all contributors, especially to Xiaolu for his quick help on an English recovery file.
Hi bobopopo, special thanks for your detailed instructions above. I recently purchased a galaxy s5 in China for my wife's birthday next week and it wasn't until I got it home that I realised it was missing all of the things that make her nexus (2 years old) a google phone. Really. Not. Cool. She uses all those features and I've been at this since Thursday trying to get the phone ready for her birthday on Wednesday (added to this I can only really work on it when she's not at home because I don't want her to see the phone).
Anyway, following your instructions I've put the phone in recovery and rooted the device, all worked like you described. I will say however that her phone doesn't have an SD card, so I put all those files on the internal memory and it still worked fine, I could locate them and install and it then gave me the successfully installed notice.
After rooting the phone I installed: gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip that is a package of all the google apps supposedly. I also installed all the .zips that were the last link in your post above. However, it seemed upon rebooting the phone that no new apps, calenders etc were installed. So I went online and downloaded google play and gmail apk. This time they installed (prior to the root they wouldn't), but none of them will open.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do next? Do I need to install an international ROM perhaps, and if so, does anyone have a link and some instructions?
We're still in China by the way, and on her nexus she has no problem accessing google play because we bought that phone in Australia. Her gmail and calender and google drive all work over the wifi here too.
Hi otby,
I am not an expert on the google apps but I also encountered problems before (unexpected shutdowns etc.)
If I understand you correctly, you have used a different file than I did. My file (see link in my instructions above installed flawless and worked out fine. Maybe you just try the same file? If your wife is using the calendar sync then you need to install separately (also under the link above). All works well for my wife's phone; so if you have the same phone with the same original stock ROM it should be reproducable. Maybe the gapps that you installed do not match the ROM.
Please also make sure the following:
1. Check that your phone is really successfully rooted.
2. Make sure that you really install the gapps when being in recovery mode. The file I used was giving a lot of feedback during installation and also confirmed in the end that the installation was successful.
Installing an international ROM according my experience should kill the radio function of the phone (because this thread is about the G9008V which is China Mobile 4G which relies on TD-SCDMA standard which is mostly used by China Mobile only). If you install an international ROM your phone will be flashed with a different radio stack and does not know how to connect to the China Mobile network anymore. I did that with a HTC S720t and all I was left with was a PDA with wifi. So better do not try that.
My wifes phone still has the original ROM, just rooted and with Google Apps. To clean up the useless China Mobile rubbish from the ROM you can e.g. use Titanium Backup to free it from bloat ware (but be careful not to kill the ROM).
Good luck with the Google apps; maybe someone else with more experience than me can also comment on why your Gapps did not install successful.
If you can get it running, that phone will really rock; so keep on trying...
Cheers,
bobopopo
Again, thank you very much for your reply - yesterday I was searching for an international ROM and thank god I read your message before installing, the phone is exactly the same model and carrier as yours (she's already with China mobile so it was an easy choice), if we lost radio... Thanks.
Ok I'll try and install them again - I too get messages of success after installing - and see how that goes. Also, do the apps just appear in the apps section of the phone or do you have to do something in settings for them to be selected/show up? The link you posted for the Gapps is a link to six separate zip files (and I installed them all separately just in case I've done that wrong), should it have been one file?
I will get onto Titanium Backup to remove the bloatware, thanks for that suggestion.
Back to it!
Am planning to buy this : http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=5932&c=samsung_sm-g9008v_galaxy_s5_td-lte
Is this worth the price? Am gonna give it to my partner.
Hi otby,
any success? Otherwise I think you can also search on Taobao and try to find some Chinese guy in your city to get it done for you. If you live in a larger city that should be no big deal..
Cheers

Is it ok to do this on a G9008V that was purchased via China mobile with a 2yr contract ?
Can they pick up on it or does it mess with the data package contract I have ?

Can you help me out

Cheers,
bobopopo

any success? Otherwise I think you can also search on Taobao and try to find some Chinese guy in your city to get it done for you. If you live in a larger city that should be no big deal..

Yes, I was finally successful last on Monday. My own fault, I had downloaded the gapps from the links you gave but as I mentioned, although they installed, they didn't actually show up on the phone - I believe this is because they were in individual zip files as opposed to one zip file containing them all, but being a noob and seeing as how it worked for you, I can't say for sure.
What worked for me was downloading the Kit Kat 4.4.2 Gapps file that I found {I'm not allowed to post links yet, as I haven't reached 10 posts, so just google search for Kit Kat 4.4.2 Gapps file} I had tried it last week but for some reason it hadn't downloaded properly. I gave it another try and this time the file was 83.1M, as it says on the webpage. This time it worked. I simply transferred the .zip file to the internal memory of the phone (I don't think it matters which folder, as long as you remember where you put it) and installed, then rebooted the phone and all the google apps were there and I could access google play store and gmail.
Since then, I've taken your advice and downloaded titanium backup, gotten rid of the bloatware, bought an SD card and backed everything up to it. You're right, this phone is awesome. I bought this for the wife, and I already have an iphone 5, but she's been using it for a couple days now and it is infinitely better than the iphone. I could go on, but seeing as this is the xda forums it'd be like preaching to the proverbial choir, I'll only say my next phone isn't going to be an iphone.

Hi,
As it took me quite some time to get the courage and read through various threads until I finally successfully rooted my Samsung S5 G9008V I would like to quickly list what I did.

Teclast X80 Pro (E3E6) Dual OS (Win10/Android 5.0): Remove Windows

Hey guys. Sorry to bother you in the X98 section, but since there's no section for the X80 yet and maybe the devices have some similarities, I hope it's ok.
The tablet worked fine, but to remove any possible bloatware under Windows or Android, I reset Windows. Somehow the device must have crashed (low battery?) and now I can't boot to Windows anymore (black screen and / or boot loop). Of course I made no backup / recovery disk. Android still works fine and I still get into BIOS / UEFI.
I tried reinstalling Windows via OTG with USB stick. I got to the point where I can choose a partition. Problem is, there are lots of partitions (Android, recovery, System and so on). I located the Windows partition, formatted / deleted it and tried to reinstall Windows on this partition. Just the exact way I would do it on a PC. Somehow it won't install on this partition. The error message says something about "the partitions are not in the recommended order. Further information for installation on GPT-volumes..." (I don't know the exact English phrasing because everything is in German). I chose "continue anyway". Then I get the message that "the EFI-system is not formatted in NTFS. Format the partition to FAT32 and start install procedure again". I press ok and get back to Windows Setup (Install now).
I also tried different repair and recovery options. One time I got error code 0xC0000034. Funny thing is, Windows still seems to be there because while trying to repair / recover I tried to load some drivers and could see the hard drives and folders under Windows.
I tried downloading the original roms here: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qYEa8gc
You need a Baidu account for the larger files and after days and days I gave up to create such an account as it seems to work only with a mainland China number. There's an option for oversea mobiles but that's not working. I tried a QQ-account, but Baidu wants to link with it and you need that telephone number again. So apparently there's no way to get the original files that way.
I found some stuff here: http://www.needrom.com/download/teclast-x80-pro-dualboot/ but that's only a tutorial file in Chinese and some flash programms / drivers (also got them from Baidu - smaller files are possible to download without an account).
Long story short: I guess recovering Windows 10 is too much effort, so I want to make the tablet Android only and of course want to use the whole capacity for Android. I found a thread on reddit about removing Windows on the X98: https://www.reddit.com/r/teclast/comments/479eua/teclast_x89_how_to_remove_windows_10/
But I have no idea which partitions are definitely needed for Android and which ones I can safely delete. I found a partition map here: http://wheresmykeyboard.com/2015/08/teclast-x98-air-64gb-dual-boot-default-partition-map/ but that doesn't help me that much because they look different.
Attached you will find a photo of all the partitions on my device. I guess there are some which were created during the failed Windows installation because I had about 20 GB free space and now only 17.7 GB.
So is there anybody out there who knows if it's possible to remove Windows completely and which partitions I have to delete?
Did you ever figure this out? I just bought an X80 Pro and was thinking of doing something similar since I plan on making it an android-only tablet.

Hi. Sorry for the late replay. Yes, I figured it out and my X80 Pro is now running Android-only with 32 GB. In the end, it wasn't that hard but a long way to success.

Yes please tell us how metalaxi , it'll be much appreciated.:good:
Ok, guys. Since some of you are asking how I did it, I'm going to try to explain it. It's kinda embarrassing that I don't remember the exact way but I hope it helps somehow. I used the tutorial from this site: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x80-plus-android-os-only/#login
Even though it's supposed to be for the Plus model, it also worked on the Pro. Btw, the guy Alex in that thread is me .
You can download all the files from my Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxEFqy4Rt9w_cnh3VG9ySk5sOHM
You need
- Android5.1 Upgrade Tool.rar
- X80 Pro (E3E6)- Dual OS - Android5.1-V1.04 Firmware.rar
- gpt.rar (Credit goes to Allember @techtablets-forum; hope it's ok to spread the file)
First you have to install the flash tool. Unrar the firmware and replace the gpt.bin. Then flash the firmware by checking BLANK.
Problem is that when I did all that, my Windows was already crushed and wasn't working anymore. I can't remember anymore if I erased the Windows partitions or any others beforehand. If you're not interested in Windows anymore, just flash it without changing or erasing any of the partitions. I guess by replacing the gpt-file, you do all that automatically.
I hope this somehow helps you. Feel free to ask for more help.
Have a good night!

Hi @metalaxi. Do you think its possible to like "reverse" and use the same files to remove Android instead and maintain the Windows 10? Appreciate to hear from you. Thanks!
Do we have to change the gpt before doing what you said in your PDF? Or I have just to follow your PDF?
Hi guys, got mine a few months and want to get rid of the Windows part, but the instructions are insufficient for a joker like me.....
1. Download the firmware, its 4 parts of rar being zipped together
2. flash the firmware HOW?!?!?! I have no Idea...... please give us some closer instructions.

Sorry, I can't answer that sufficent enough. As far as I know, you can just delete all partitions except the ones from Windows. Then format the unallocated space and merge it with the one from Windows. No guarantee!

1. Which 4 parts do you mean?
2. To flash any firmware, you need to install all the upgrade tools:
IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0
iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0

It is not so hard. By mine it was only trial and error. Installiert all drivers an go in the bootloader with three Finger method. Go two levels up and go into bootloader. Then connect to PC and look in Intel flashing tool if connection is reconiced correctly. Select the downloaded file and select flash. Thats it. Device will reboot and you are ready to go.

Straightforward if you can obtain a USB stick capable of storing over 7GB (some 8GB sticks may not); USB hub (ideally a powered hub); USB keyboard; OTG cable.
1) Obtain the Windows files of the correct firmware. The procedure outlined here is for E6E9 firmware, but other firmware will be similar. Download the circa 6.5GB E6E9 firmware Windows files from https://yadi.sk/d/XEvRsoiD3Q4vKX or https://mega.nz/#F!I0AXGR5C!YiNFkZL9DIvzepH28qAjEQ (or from appropriate source for your firmware version).
Decompress the downloads as required to obtain six folders and two files.
2) Format the stick to FAT32.
3) Name the stick WINPE (five uppercase characters).
4) Copy the previously mentioned folders and files to the USB stick.
5) Plug USB stick and USB keyboard into hub; plug hub into OTG cable; plug OTG cable into tablet whilst the tablet is off.
6) Turn on tablet and immediately start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard. This should open the UEFI config section prior to Android boot option. If the tablet displays the Android boot option, turn off the tablet, wait a few seconds, then turn on and start tapping << Delete >> key on USB keyboard again.
7) When in UEFI, touch the title menu option of << Save and Exit >> and look in the << Boot Override >> section for the name of your USB stick, then touch the name of your USB stick. The screen will immediately go blank as the tablet starts to boot from the USB stick.
8) After a few minutes, a numerically display of progress will be displayed in a CMD window.
9) After reaching 100% and nearing completion of the overall installation, the tablet will prompt for acceptance, so accept that prompt.
10) The setup will run a few final operations for a few seconds, then automatically reboot.
11) Done.
You will be prompted to complete the OOBE on each Windows boot until you complete OOBE.
