any issues with google contact syncing after flashing firmware? - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

So i have my xz1 compact, and a few days ago flashed the custom UK firmware. no issues, everything working. i then tried to flash the ce1 firmeware, but it ended up bootlooping, so i re-flashed the custom uk firmware. now, only 2/3 of my google contacts appear on my phone. i tried disable/enable syncing, remove/readd my google account, reflashing both the custom UK and US rom (i ended up staying on custom uk)....no dice. now i get the "sync is currently experiencing problems." error when in settings - accounts - google account sync.
Anyone seeing the same issue? the weird thing is that for the 15-20 people that weren't syncing, I did notice a pattern - all but one had a website link on their google contact profile (via gmail). once i removed the weblink (typically it was their google plus profile link), they finally appeared on my phone. one 1 is still not working (and oddly, it's my wife lol).
i'd like to get this to work. i could manually add them back onto my phone, but then my google account via the web would have duplicate entries.

Exchange Help

Hi all.
I have used a hosted exchange account for many years, and had it sync with my mobile (X1) without problem for a long time.
Over the past few months I've used one of the EnergyROMs, but have used other ROMs in the past too.
I recently moved hosted exchange providers, and everything was working fine for a few days.
But I noticed a new ROM build so I decided to upgrade.
Ever since, my Exchange doesn't sync properly. I can usually get it to sync on initial setup, but immediately after that, the connection seems to close and no emails ever get synced to the phone.
Going into the Microsoft Direct Push settings on the Comm Manager, the exchange status now sits permanently at "Synchronized: None", and the sync icon is greyed out. I never get an error message of any sort.
It's the latest July 10 ROM, but I've also tried other ROMs (the GTX, the MaxSense ones, and others), but no matter what I do it doesn't sync again.
I've successfully used exchange for years, but I'm wondering if there's a setting somewhere in one of the new ROMs that I'm just not finding when I set up the account and I'm missing something somewhere along the line?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My provider btw, is Vodafone (UK) and I've been through the automated setups etc.
you should have checked or, if until now not reported, raised the issue in the specific rom thread to get help from other users on the same softinstead of opening a new thread
no actual ideas on your problem right now

[Q] GMail not syncing correctly.

I flashed to JM5 the other day and setup my google account on startup as usual.
Everything came down ok - calendar, contacts and mail. I have push enabled and I get informed of my mails almost instantly as expected. I can mark them as read and/or delete them without issues.
The issues come later when I sign onto my GMail account on my home PC - all the mails I have read/deleted during the day are still marked as unread and I have to re-read/re-delete them. Everything else works fine!
Can anyone shed any light on this?
I've tried to delete the account and re-add but it says I can't remove it (since other apps are so dependent on it) without a factory reset.
i've my gmail account configured to Archive downloaded/read emails

I have the same problem, and it started recently...past two weeks probably. It is annoying, I'll open gmail on the phone, read the messages, close gmail, open gmail and they are right back.
I'm on a Vibrant, search feature brought me here...

Google account sign-in error

I'm on MoDaCo r12, and it has worked flawlessly thus far.
All of the sudden Google Talk started telling "Google Talk authentication error", and it keeps playing the notification sound at random and sometimes very often. Additionally Gmail has stopped synchronizing without any notice. Not a single error message!
I have never seen this strangeness in the two years of messing around with Android. Settings -> Accounts and sync sometimes tells me that "Sync is having problems and will be back shortly", but mostly it just doesn't work without telling me about any errors.
The log shows lines like these:
Code:
W/DefaultRequestDirector( 1373): Authentication error: Unable to respond to any of these challenges: {}
Sometimes there will be methods listed in the curly braces, but mostly not.
Code:
W/DefaultRequestDirector( 1406): Authentication error: Unable to respond to any of these challenges: {googlelogin=WWW-Authenticate: GoogleLogin realm="http://www.google.com/accounts/ClientLogin", service=""}
I have tried wiping /cache, re-flashing the ROM image, clearing data in any apps I think might be related to Google services. E.g. Google services framework, accounts, account and sync settings, Talk, Gmail, Market...
I have even tried changing the Google account password twice. The phone notices it and accepts my new password like it normally would, but the issue remains.
This is a @gmail.com account. I have a Google Apps account on my phone also, and that one works fine.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm about to wipe everything and start fresh, but first I would like to know if anyone has any killer tips on to get rid of this. I'm thinking there might be a cached cookie/auth token or something somewhere that's causing this.

That's not it I'm afraid. Using ClockSync, so it was only off by about one second after a reboot just now. I tried fix permissions in despair, but to no avail.
As noted above, my Google Apps account works fine, it's just my gmail.com account that doesn't work. Somehow it seems that Contacts and Calendar are sync'ed. Meaning the time and date of last sync on those are a few minutes ago, but Picasa is dated two days ago, Gmail yesterday.
I checked it on my Nexus One too; it pops up the password prompt (because I changed my pass) and then goes on to synchronize everything perfectly fine. Wtf could cause this! I haven't really done anything but read Twitter, Facebook and some RSS via Pulse before it stopped working. I only updated a couple of apps that is not related in any way and have not changed any system settings.
Fcuk it, I wiped it all and restored apps with titanium backup. All good now.
Hi, i to have a problem with Google account sign in but its with Play store, every time i try to use Play store it asks me to ether use an existing Google account or make a new account even though i have a Google account set up on my phone. So my question is how can i get back on to Play store with my Google account? Tried by removing my account from my phone then going on to Play Store and signed in with my account but when i tried going back to Play store again it asked me to ether make a new account or use an existing account.
I guess its becoz in some parts of the world youtube services has been shutdown and it as affected google services communication badly. I live in pakistan and here we cant access to google play and other google services as well.

Once had the same problem and until I realized I had an error with my baseband, I pulled out a lot of my sparse hair.
Make a good backup and try to flash new bb, then Google will recognize you again (I hope!!!!)

[Q] Cannot get email to work

My default email account works, but whenever I try to enter in a new email account, I get the following message:
"Unfortunately, email has stopped."
I am using Dynamic Kat Rom and have rooted the device using the standard instructions included for room, including installing TowelRoot, BusyBox, SafeStrap, etc.
I've searched everywhere for similar issues, and what I've read is that My Magazine has to be installed and running, which I do have, and I enabled it.
Here are the details on my phone:
SAMSUNG-SM-N900A
Android 4.4.2
Baseband N900AUCUCNC2
Hardware version REV0.3
I have to solve this or I'm going to have to go back to stock, which I hated because the bloatware had me looking at a loading icon for 5m every time I opened email. Ironically, the phone is massively faster now but I can't get my other gmail or my work exchange emails on it.
Minor side issue, I am seeing a green check mark in folders for app icons instead of the normal app icons (which I can see when I look at all apps, and it's random on the app - most have their normal icon, some do not).
So I've been working on this some and have successfully added new Google email accounts by adding Google accounts to the main account. Yay!
What I can not do is add a Microsoft Exchange email (my most important need). I get the error listed above about the email not working.
I can launch the My Magazine that was apparently an issue for others and the email app. It runs and gets information, so I don't think its that (unless there is something else I have to check relative to that, but I cant find the original thread discussion that others refer to sometimes in other threads).
Happy to report after monkeying around with every setting imaginable, I've got it to work now.

Contacts won't sync and other issues

I'm not sure if this is Note 8 related, Samsung related, or an Android-wide Google issue, but figured I'd start here.
I have a Verizon branded Note 8 that I'm using on T-Mo. I just bought the device Monday from an individual. I flashed the T-Mobile firmware and everything seemed to be working fine, until I noticed not all my contacts synced from Google. I'd say probably 75% of them synced, but I was missing a large random chunk of them.
I tried everything I read to resolve the issue. Deleted and re-added my Google account. Cleared the contacts app data/cache. Rebooted. Downloaded Contact Sync Fix. Nothing fixed it. I evwn downloaded Google Contacts, and they wouldbt all sync. I checked my Google contacts online and they're all there. If I ADD a contact to my Note 8, it syncs to my Google account.
I checked my S8+ and tried to re-sync my contacts on that device, and it keeps giving the "Sync is having issues..." message. I don't get that message on my Note 8, but obviously it isn't syncing properly.
I did a factory reset. That didn't fix it. I flashed the unlocked firmware, that didn't fix it. I set rhe phone back up, and I noticed issue #2. I suddenly lost the ability to customize my Google search bar. It wasn't a big deal at first. I usually have to wait for the app to update after setting the phone back up, and sometimes have to delete and add the search bar widget back. But no matter what I try, it won't work.
I factory reset again and flashed back to the T-Mo firmware. I didn't restore ANYTHING and set it all up from scratch as a new device. Still those two issues remain. I'm bone stock, not rooted, stock Touchwiz launcher, using all the stock Samsung apps. My work around is all my contacts were synced with my Samsung account, and they synced to my Note 8 just fine, but I want my Google Account contacts to sync properly. The search bar will just stay white I guess.
TL;DR:
1. Google contacts not syncing properly.
2. Google search bar widget no longer customizable.
google related problem.

Your link says page not found, but I finally got it working properly after you responded. I couldn't get it to Sync properly at first. It took me deleting my Google Account, turning off Samsung Contacts Sync, deleting all the contacts from my phone, force stopping the contacts app and clearing it's data. Then I rebooted, added my Google account and let it all Sync again. Low and behold, all my contacts have now synced properly.
My Google search bar widget has still lost its ability to be customised however. Which sucks, because I like a dark theme and it was awesome setting the bar to Black and transparent.
