We ever getting LineageOS? - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Kinda sucks that the only roms available as just debloated stock roms. Was the HTC 626 just unpopular?

Lineage OS on HTC Desire 626? When Hell reaches freezing. My Verizion HTC 626 is rooted with SUNSHINE, with TWRP installed and no roms for the verizon line.

I bought this phone over a year ago and kinda thought it was going to be CM12 or whatever. Flashing LineageOS on friends phones makes me miss having a phone that can have a custom OS. Oh well, next time my phone is going to have a QWERTY keyboard as well as LineageOS. If I can find a phone that works on T-Mobile and has a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Like those exist in 2017/2018.

HTC Velocity

As far as I can tell, the new Telstra HTC Velocity is a Holiday/Vivid/Raider which has to be the most complciated mess off device renames I've seen in a while.
I have the option comming up at my work to go for 1 of three phones.
1. HTC Velocity on Telstra(holiday/vivid/raider)
2. Galaxy Nexus on Telstra
3. Galaxy S II (first version, on telstra)
SO this is addressed to people who own this handset, or a few handsets. DO you think I should go for the Velocity, or one of the others, if so why?
The Velocity has the fastest cpu (telstra version is 1.5Ghtz) and is the only one with LTE, however I'm not the biggest fan of Sense UI and I don't live or work in an LTE zone yet, wont be getting an LTE upgrade here for another 6 months. and the nexus appears to have a higher resolution screen.
Anyway, I'm incomming from a HTC HD2, which is awesome for flashing and such but mine is getting old and overheating so I will be glad to move on, does anyone know my chances of flashing roms/rooting the HTC Velocity easily?
Hey David,
Im currently using the SGS2 and LOVE it, but i do live in a 4G zone, i took home the demo today, and am doing some research on flashing as i am a bit of a nerd/freak when it comes to these things, and use alot of apps that require Root, so without that, its a no go for me... but the speed is PHENOMENAL! amazing, and to be quite honest, even on standard 3G/NextG gets far better coverage and 3G speeds than my galaxy, 10mb/s on the Velocity - on 3G and only 3MB/s on the Galaxy s2... I am cm's away from buying it
Hope this helps and if anyone has any more news, or if you can use Vivid/Raider ROMS on the velocity, as it has the same op sys... and sence... let me know!!!
cheers
So you would say the velocity is much better than the galaxy s ii?
Thank you
Got my HTC Velocity 4G today.
Managed to get boot loader unlocked via HTCDev but device is still S-On
Will try rooting and will update you guys
Yea iirc the HTCDev tool don't give you S-off, it just allows you to flash a new rom.
If you want to flash a new radio you will need S-off.
Keep us updated how you go flashing a new rom, ty.

Ive had my HTC Vivid on ATT for about a month. Finally decided to go android after 5 years of iPhone use. Anyways, From what I can tell, like you said, the vivid and the velocity are more or less the same phone, just on different carriers. The phone is a solid handset, the battery life is average, its fast and even though I dont live in an area with LTE service, it still rocks on on HSPA+. Great phone, love mine, highly recommend it. As for not liking the Sense UI, if you arent concerned about your warranty, you can always root it and load a custom ROM onto it.
Thanks guys, good info.
Looking forward to seeing how kychan79 does with his, I should get mine in a few days I think I'm sold on the Velocity
I've noticied I can get extended batteries for the "raider" version, 3600mAh sounds boss, I have an extended battery for my HD2 so I'm used to the cover hump.

I wouldnt say it is 'much' better, but it is better, in terms of speed, yes, but in terms of spec... no... the 1.5ghz is supposedly inferior to the 1.2, and 1.4 dual cores seen in the s2, and new galaxy tablets. However, i am fond of the speed and will be upgrading to an LTE device, and if we can crack the bootloader in these HTC's i will more than likely be upgrading to one
cheers

does the weight go up much with the ext battery??? i am so used to my galaxy s2, (116grams) im scared of the extra weight, i used the Desire HD for a while back in the day.. hated the extra weight... thoughts???
if you hate weight, avoid the extra battery, I prefer my phone to be weighty

I work for an online mobile store, and have used both the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for an extended period of time. I also bought the HTC Velocity 4G yesterday.
The HTC Velocity 4G is currently the best device out in Australia, if speed is important to you! Not only does the device have 4G, though it also has dual band HSPA+, which makes it faster than most devices on the Next G network. I uploaded a video to YouTube yesterday, showing how much faster the HTC Velocity 4G runs on the Next G network, when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
You can search YouTube for 'HTC Velocity 4G dual band HSPA+ test' if you want to watch the video, I am unable to post links, as I am a new user.
There are however three things that disappoint me about the device:
1. The device is a bit heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Nexus
2. The device came with Android 2.3.7, rather than Android 4.0 (Should be released in a month)
3. HTC Sense
The Galaxy Nexus is a great device, it is light, thin and stylish. It also obviously has Ice Cream Sandwich, gets updated directly from Google (depending on where you get the device from), and doesn't have crap like HTC Sense on top of Android. The device however has a darker screen than most devices (not necessarily a bad thing), and the camera is pretty ****ty, though in all fairness, I was comparing it to the camera on the iPhone 4S, which makes all other mobile cameras look bad.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is a great device if you don't want a device as big as the Galaxy Nexus and don't want to spend as much. I also don't mind the software that Samsung puts on top of Android, it is a lot better than HTC Sense.

This is the reason why I logged onto XDA Developers today, I am wanting to ditch the HTC Sense / Telstra ROM for a good custom ROM, or if at all possible, a clean ICS ROM.
I would have went with the Galaxy Nexus (AOSP and no bloat HELLz YES,)if it wasn't the limited storage. 16GB is easy to fill and i need more if it was 32GB it would have been a done deal for me. Coming from the Galaxy S upgraded to the SII and within 2 days exchanged for the Raider.
SGS ans SGSII not much difference some but not much TouchWiz just plane sucks in my opinion lockscreen is horrible widgets limited. With my SGS i used ADW launcher just to avoid TouchWiz. Sense maybe a resource hog but it meets everything i was looking in a phone that the SII did not provide. with my first SGS i found myself hack and modding it to hell just so i can get it the way i want it to work and installing apps like widget locker etc. The Raider does not lag and i use this think like a mini computer everything is on with auto sync set to every hour. People say the battery is average i beg to differ i think its amazing battery for a 4.5" device. On very heavy days i get 12-14 hours on medium days it has last 2days and low even 3 days.
This is after i rooted and removed bloat, without bloat i would get max 12 hours on low usage. Still running stock, I like hacking/modding but to much trial and error and not enough time, with the Raider i do not need to mod it just to get basic functionality like SMS prompt or change tracks on lockscreen when phone is locked with pin/pass/pattern. It may seem small for others but that was a deal breaker for me. I need the phone locked but still have access to simple things like music and SMS from lockscreen and should not have to purchase apps like widget locker. Another big reason to jump ships was again weather in lockscreen, here up north weather can be very unpredictable so having that on the lockscreen is a great addition for me and it has saved me a few times already.
If i went SGSII first thing i would do is flash CM9 but then again its not really ready and has bugs.
I am getting this phone on Monday, so excited.
Very happy that it is getting ICS by end of Feb / Early March.

Excelllent!! A velocity thread!!
I just got mine yesterday! Love it. I came from an inspire with wcx Rom.. this is on par with how my inspire was... But I know this phone can be twice as good...
I have a few questions...
How Did you unlock boot loader? Did you select vi I'd from the list on htcdev.com?
If I unlock bootloader will I lose my Telstra warranty?
Can it be undone?
If I flash a new Rom can the phone be returned to stock easily enough?
if I flash a new Rom with wcx which is based on at.t... Will I lose my 1800 MHz LTE?
Sorry about all the novice questions...
One last thing.. when I had my inspire with sense 3.5 it seemed to have more features like the arrows in keyboard. And more items in the power menu... What's up with these disappearing?
I'm getting mine on monday
I also ordered an extended battery online (2600mAh) and the HDMI adapter just for funzies, so I'll let you folks know how well they work
If you want a keyboard with arrows, I use "hackers keyboard" off the market which I love, on my current android NAND htc HD2.
Thanks for the info, especially mark david, good stuff, and I didn't know about the dual-band HSDPA+ that certainly sounds lovely as I do not live in a 4G area (yet, they are upgrading jun/jul)
I would phone telstra to get the info direct from them RE: unlocking the bootloader. As for the rest, don't know yet sorry

Just a thought. Shouldn't we be able to use the velocity kernel to get 1.5ghz? Since they're essentially the same device just one is undervolted and one is not?

if you are running my rom, you are running the velocity kernel. its going to take more than just flashing that kernel though. unfortunately, i am not a kernel guru, or i would know what else it would take.

Where did you order the accessories from? I cant find anything for this phone at the moment? Or did you search for "Vivid"

HTC Raider (HTC vivid)

Hi,
I had a iphone 3gs for a few years now and i decided to buy myself a HTC Raider (HtC vivid) This phone is able on the new network LTE. Thats one of the reasons i choiced this phone.
so i went from appel to Android.
I have not see many thing about my HTC because its new and i was wondering if any1 may know if i did the right choice or not.
On my part compare i feel that the battery goes down realy fast on heavy use but i do have a big screen so that may kinda explain it.
Also as a new android user the version 2.3 is on my HTC.
I like to tweak and customize my phones and i founded that my htc comes with a lot of stuff that i will never use...
So i was wondering what do you guys sugger me to do to be able to use this phone at is best.
thank you

[Q] looking for purchase advice

I am seriously looking at the HTC one as my next device.
First a little history - I currently run a HTC Vivid which sadly was a great phone with little support. Fortunately for me, I have been running WCX illuminati roms for the past 2 years, so that was as good as it ever got for this device.
Now, I am on AT&T, however my employer pays my monthly bill which is a huge blessing, however I have to fully fund my phones at full price, with no allowable discounts, as our wireless devices are managed by a company called tangoe, so going into an AT&T store is a no go, unless I pay full price.
All that considered, I have 3 options, pay full price in an AT&T store, the HTC developers edition, or the google play edition. All 3 are very close in price, but which is my best option, considering I know I will be running custom roms for the most part.
I do like sense, at least from my experience with WCX roms in the past. However open to running vanilla android if no go tweaked roms are out there. Suggestions?
One more detail,
I really like the thought of a bigger screen, as tiny text is difficult to read, I see there is possible an HTC ONE MAX coming to the US this fall, wondering if I should hold out for that one?

I would go with the HTC developer or AT&T and get the 64Gb model (and then install a custom ROM or at least superuser to get rid of AT&T bloat).
If you don't need that much storage, go for the GE.
I've not heard that the MAX is going to be released in the US.
32 gb is way too much storage for me. I'd recommend One to everyone! I thought I'd hate blinkfeed, but it's pretty neat. Boomsound is a huge plus. The screen is the best, period. Support will be plenty thanks to xda. Camera is just what I'd imagine, and even a bit better in dark situations. The front camera is very good and it's wide lens a huge plus.
Things to know. Check the camera. If the picture is anything but black, it might be broken or need an update.
Check for gaps near the speakers. Some are better than others.
My phone (black One) had some black paint spill on the edge near the volume rocker. Impossible to remove. So there's obviously some problems with manufacturing. I'm happy with this any way.
Edit: I don't have solid evidence to back this up, just some testing of my own. The Samsung GS4 seems to have a better antenna than my phone. Tired a couple of different radio firmwares and it was always worse.
T9'd from my black HTC One M7
Do you need 64GB or is 32 enough? Because that can affect what options are available to you. Aside from that, all three are basically the same hardware-wise. The AT&T and HTC Dev editions will have the same HBOOT bootloader and same Sense ROM, except the AT&T one comes with AT&T bloatware apps installed and skinned network icons in the status bar. The Google Edition will come with a different bootloader, recovery, and (obviously) OS.
After you unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery, however, you can easily** switch back and fourth between all of these different configurations, given that the underlying hardware is the same (the only exception would be if you were using a Verizon or other non-AT&T model).
** Note that switching the bootloader/radio/recovery itself can be a bit more tricky as it requires S-OFF and you probably shouldn't be doing that very frequently. Switching ROMs itself, however, is no problem. The only reason you would really need to switch out something like your bootloader is if you want to receive OTA (over the air) updates. I.e. if you want OTA updates for the GE (Google Edition) you will need to be running the GE recovery and bootloader and all that and if you want Sense OTA updates from HTC then you need to be running HBOOT, etc.

Just got the HTC One, what do now?

I just upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus... Never thought I'd catch up to the current phone gen... The One is amazing. I've been on XDA for all my phones, but this phone doesn't seem as easy to root and what not. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Preferably to have my phone be like the GPE. I have an AT&T HTC One but it's unlocked and I'm using it on T-Mobile if that matters...
Does call/text over wifi work for GPE? This new feature blew me a mile away. I had never heard of this before D:
Do some reading bro
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
GE doesn't allow for calls/text over WiFi from what I've read. If you come across it, let me know. For now, kitkat android revolution is the best bet
imao, 4.3 roms are performing better than 4.4 ones,
so, i advise you to upgrade to 4.3 and live your life without worries about your phone

[Q] Is my HTC Desire 626 Dual-sim fake?

Hi everyone,
I have bought an HTC Desire 626 Dual-sim lately but it does not have all of HTC software installed and looks like stock android with changed icons to look like HTC.
It has HTC Blink feed and HTC dot case installed but it does not have sense installed. For example, it does not have the themes app where you can change the theme in HTC phones.
In settings -> about -> there is no indication of sense version unlike other HTC phones.
The dialer, messaging, camera, and etc. apps look like stock android.
My question is how can I know if the device is fake? And how can I prove it to the seller that it is fake?
Has HTC released a phone without sense before?
Was it new or used? If used, it was probably just rooted and customized. For example, I also no longer use the Sense launcher on my 626 - I use a different launcher (currently testing out Google Now Launcher). If rooted, you can remove any app you'd like - even system apps...
Sent from my HP SlateBook 10 x2 PC using Tapatalk
It was new and it's not rooted. And it can't be a modified ROM. As I said it has all the stock android apps but with HTC icons. For example, the dialer app has the icon of HTC sense dialer but when you launch it, it is the stock android app. The settings page also doesn't look like the settings in HTC phones. And the home launcher has got blink feed in it and it has the famous clock widget on it too. However, there is no htc weather or htc clock.
It even has the 64-bit Mediatek MT6752 Chipset instead of the Qualcomm equivalent. Does HTC release phones without sense? Is there any dual SIM version of HTC desire 626. I checked the IMEI numbers on a website and it said that the manufacture is HTC.
This is probably an Asian model. I bought it in Iran.
HTC...stop the non-sense
I do feel what you feel. I have a Desire 620G model, which has the same striped to the bone non--sense experience.
At first I thought that is some fake phone, but HTC made this. Why, you should ask them.
About the chipset confusion, they make 2 variants, Mediatek and Qualcomm.
Hope this brings some light to your questions.
Duck you HTC for making this phone...and forgeting about it.
Yes, I'm really disappointed at HTC for making a senseless phone.
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using Tapatalk
I bought an HTC Desire 626 single sim for my sister.
Mine have 2 gb ram, 64bit processor. Original rom is Lollipop, with HTC Sense.
Weird is t on IMEIcheck, shows very little information.
Mediatek is the real one to be blamed.I too bought HTC desire 620G (originally planned to buy 620 but greed of 1.7ghz took over)
and now for 11 months got stuck in KitKat with gravitybox!. Now i have vowed never to buy an mediatek, even if it looks promising for development!

Hi,
Please find below the link for HTC ROM with MTK processor .
https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=category&id=2666
I tried the ROM desire 626w for my HTC desire 626w dual sim, it worked fine but have few supported language and without gapps. Then I tried the ROM 626q for my HTC desire 626w but be careful you have to restore your imei after formating and flashing ... So copy your imei before any flash, and you have to fix a small problem with wifi : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730486
