No, it doesn't work like that.

Probably a stupid question, but... Is it possible to change the partition table of Mi 5X into a Mi A1 partition table, in order to achieve A/B partition, and OTA update on Mi 5X?
I know there must be a reason that instead of doing this, the development of using A1 ROM on 5X went with the other route of porting the ROM, but... Is there something I should read to understand the issue better?

The biggest problem is that there is no way to debrick the 5X for now, so every screw up means having to RMA the phone. That means that while it's possible to repartition in some way or another, we still need to find a way.

I want too, plz stay tune for the post of @Aex12 update.

please also, please....

It's just the name of the phone, if want to try a new ROM you would install mi mix lithium ROM, all Xiaomi phones have a code name to avoid installing the wrong ROM and bricking you're phone. All mix's are lithium
ALL phones have a Code Name. Mi Mix (all version) is named LITHIUM.
cheers

Do keep track of version of firmware you have installed. I must have hard bricked my Mi 6X, by trying to install any version of firmware from TWRP, after reboot it was dead.
It's been almost a month, still have to wait till November when I next goto China, hopefully I can claim warranty for that, I bought it in China. Read on Baidu Tieba, many people has similar issue, have to replace the whole logic board.

None. Just be careful with flashing of firmware. Don't "roll back" to older firmware, like I did, unknowingly.

about the "anti rollback" (I won't call it a feature), you should dig it further.
as an example to check whether or not a device had that ARB thing can be seen here:
https://en.miui.com/thread-3283544-1-1.html
to be fair, the ARB issue should concern to every single xiaomi device which still receiving xiaomi support (updates)
If I have MIUI10 8.8.23 EU and flash to AEX may it brick because of ARB???
Thanks in advance

please don't take this as an offense (english is not my first language), I just need to send the point
not every rom /firmware shipped by xiaomi had the "Anti Roll Back" (ARB), I personally owning the Mi 6x and had rolled-back from 9.5.11.0 to 9.5.7.0 without any issue.
I've completely forgotten since when did xiaomi implemented this ARB, but I'd stay away from anything beyond 9.5.15.0 (since the LOS 15.1 for Mi 6x by Isaac Chen is based on 9.5.11.0, I probably don't need anything beyond 9.5.11.0).
to check whether or not our device is "infected" by the ARB, one can type this command while on fastboot mode:
"fastboot getvar anti" (without the quote marks)
if the command return <4, then it's safe to rollback.
else if the return is 4 (or greater), then it had Anti Roll-Back, and you should not roll-back.
further info can be obtained here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/faq-questions-answered-t3816185
if you just download a complete fastboot rom, I'd recommend to read this thread carefully:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...warning-update-to-recent-miui-builds-t3814895
all the treads I've mentioned are do related to the redmi note 5, but in the end I think every xiaomi device with active support from xiaomi will be facing the same fate.
I'd suggest anyone with "anti 3 or less" to refrain themselves from updating their rom, if they still intended to switching apart from miui.
saying don't roll-back from your current rom, should be safe for anybody.
but for somebody with "anti 3 or less" this can put them at disadvantage since probably the custom rom were based on something older than what they're currently using.
for Mi 6x, I can say that if you're still on 9.5.11.0 it's still safe to roll back.
I'm not quite sure when did the xiaomi started to implement the ARB on the development rom, though.
from what I've gathered so far, the ARB are also including the firmwares.
so if one had "anti 4" don't flash older firmware to their device.
the ARB matter should worth to dig further though, and maybe deserves it's own thread since I'm afraid it might discourage and confuse people when switching to custom rom.
Our device got MIUI 10 Stable on xiaomi.eu as well.

AOSP based ROMs won't brick your device. Only MIUI based ones do. Always remember to make sure you are installing latest version release when you go back to MIUI based ROMs or Stock Based ones.
Thanks

Is Mi A2 "fiddling friendly"?

Hi people,
I'm on the fence about exchanging my Honor 9 for the Mi A2 (the Honor 9 is a good phone, but it's not "friendly" when it comes to root, ROMs, etc.).
I'd like to ask if the Mi A2 is better in this respect. How easy is it to root and install new ROMs?
Also, is it true that unlocking the bootloader disables the fingerprint reader?
Thanks a lot in advance!

It's not that hard to root and flash, but comparing to some previous devices, it is a little tricky. Just follow the tutorial and your good. And, no, it's not true about fingerprint reader.

Are you happy with your device?

It's not that hard to do it. Similar to other phones, just unlock bootloader and install recovery. The thing is that you have to decrypt the data partition since it comes encrypted (confirm, someone?). This phone is pretty good, I am going to root it but I'm going to keep it at the stock rom because it's Google's Android One.
Also, the fingerprint reader thing isn't true.

Official Android 10 and arb4

Hi guys,
I've got mi a2 running official latest Pie with arb4.
To install official pie while having arb4, I had to replace some files in original fastboot firmware.
Is it possible to update to 10 using the same file replacement or if not, are there any other options?
I also have a Mi A2 with ARB4, now it's a MI 6X and I use a pixel experience on it, how did you do to install the official android pie on it with ARB4?

Hi.
You have mediafire link with all files in shared thread.
I already got it, the best solution is to install the Pixel Experience for the 6X ... Wheel even better than the official one for Mi A2.
There are several negative factors when returning to Android One with ARB4, in which case the internal memory of the phone is divided into two partitions and has access to only one. I think the best solution is to use Pixel Experience.

Custom ROM situation

Hi I open this discussion to deepen the theme of cooked ROM.
In particular, I wanted to know why a phone so equipped at the hardware level is not yet supported by developers As regards the software sector.
I really miss the lineage.
How come nothing still moves I can put to charge the phone
