FM Radio on a custom ROM? - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries

As I said in the subject of the thread, I want to know if it is possible to add FM Radio on Galaxy J3s which is running Resurrection Remix ROM. It works better than the stock rom of course but it lacks FMRadio. I tried installing Spirit2 but it didnt work cuz it's saying that "Kernel doesn't have FM driver" more or less...So if it is possible I would gladly take your advice or suggestion under consideration.
Thanks in advance.

Give this a try.

[Q] Any custom gingerbread rom support FM radio?

Hi All,
I am looking for a gingerbread rom that supports FM radio. I have been using MM's GB rom. It was great and stable but it does not support FM radio. Can you recommend one? How about CM7 rom? I try to look for the threads. Nobody mentions that it supports FM radio.
Your help is appreciated.
R
Yeah, just checked and CM7 supports FM radio.
You tried to install on MM's GB Rom the radio application and it not work?!

No never try. Just because MM did not mention his rom can support FM radio in his post. Maybe I will try to do it later. Thanks.

Confirmed. Not working
Can anyone confirm that it DOES work on CM7??
A more interesting question to me would be has anyone been able to get the FM transmitter working?? I think I remember there's a hardware disconnect as well? Is that right?

I tried it on MM's CM7 1.3. The FM radio app works like a charm. However, I got rebooted everytime when I try to install other apps. So, I switch back to MM's Desire HD rom. :-(
PS: I tried both CM7 v1.3 and 1.4. Not stable for me.

Cuz not many people use it so in order to save space they don't bundle an FM radio.
It's easier if the small portion of users who do use the FM radio can just download a radio app from the play store themselves.
thanx guys useful information
thanx a lot :good:
The FM radio from Samsung is using the TW (touchwiz) framerwork for it to work.. CM ROMs dont have the TW framework.. I think they decided to go that way to avoid any legal action from samsung themselves.. Same reason why the always have Gapps as a separate file from the ROM..

It's not because CM team wants to save space, or because they are afraid that Samsung might sue them.
The reason there's no radio is because Samsung do not want to release specific hardware documentation and source code, because they deem them proprietary. There's no way for CM guys to develop a working FM radio without those.

[Q] FM radio apk for Samsung GT-N7000

Hey, I've flashed the super nexus 2.0 ROM 4.2.2 on my Note and its doesn't come with the FM radio apk. I extracted the fmradio.apk from samsung stock rom 4.1.2 and tried to install but it says "application not installed". My phone has the hardware but i am looking for the software.
Its an Indian version phone. please help? I need the offline radio app not online radio (if that makes sense).. Thanks in advance
Not working on CM, AOSP, etc based Roms.
You'll need a "Samsung" based Rom if you want to use the FM radio - or use the radio app (see market or search xda) - some people had problems with this, so I'm not sure if it is a real good replacement.
Thanks

No, this isn't true. Disappointing isn't the missing software in CM/AOSP etc. but Samsungs policy.

You should ask your questions in the "question section" Mackay is CM10.1 based, so actually you are looking for a working FM for CM10.1. AFAIK there isn't any working solution for OB yet. kasper_h said he is not gonna work on FM for Mackay ROM (if i remember correctly). But there are threads in XDA for FM radio on CM that had much success. You can take a look at them, and try to apply yourself, if you want.

There is no "best ROM". These questions are generally frowned upon as well. What works best for me, may not work at all for you. As @simms22 said previously, there are a wide variety to choose from. I suggest reading the OP of any ROM you choose, and seeing if it has the features you need, then flash that ROM and try it for yourself. Also, read the users comments within the ROM thread to see what their experiences are. The only way to find the best ROM for you, is to try several and decide for yourself.
Good luck!

Stock rooted hard coded without Xposed and GravityBox. LMAO
My personal two favorites are Euphoria OS and Benzo Rom (which is based off Euphoria) mainly because it contains Cyanogenmod features while keeping an AOSP base. Also I love how Viper4Android is built in to Benzo Rom. However it comes down to you on what you want to install.
Nice ROM to try
I have installed a Rom called "pure nexus " with modular gapps who have nice preinstalled support of layers and is very stable fast and battery saving and i have personalized with someone layers to remenber playstation.
Euphoria I just try but is very instable, app crash and home crash..
I tryed chroma but isn't a nice ROM for me because have low costumization but is good and fast.. All ROM I tryed have a support for not encrypted I hate it
Gravity and framework i have installed on my all phone but i don't like the release alpha for LP because when i need to install a next release for ROM with bug fix framework need to re installation and all app in the ROM need to optimized..

If flashing a zip is so hard, don't use xposed.
TWRP will flash up to 10 zips at once.
