Unknown Baseband + Null Imei - Moto E4 Plus Questions & Answers

Please help me in figuring out how to fix the unknown baseband error with null imei for Moto E4 plus Xt1770 Indian version.
What i have done so far!!!
I flashed twrp recovery after unlocking the boot loader, flashed Lineage OS 14.1 custom ROM and rooted using Phh superuser. But as I was not satisfied with it, I reverted back to the stock ROM using SP flash tool " Format all + Download ". But ever since I have unknown baseband error. I cant go back to the custom rom. So Please help me in fixing this problem by staying on the stock rom. I am desperately welcome to all suggestions.

Do you get the null imei in the bootloader only? Or is there an imei when you dial *#06#?

It does not solve, I already did it in mine, and the problem continued.

[EDIT]
I CANT ATTACH THE FILE IN THE REPLY. I HAVE POSTED IT IN DISCUSSION FORUM OG MOTO E4 PLUS.
This is the solution for unknown baseband and null imei error for mt6737 device Moto E4 Plus.
This is fix for Moto E4 Plus Xt1770 Indian Version.
(Note: You must have adb folder in Local disk C of your computer. To make things easier if you paste the firmware folder of Xt1770 within the adb folder , things will run more smoothly. To know how to have adb folder in Local Disk C, just Google it.)
Fixing On Moto E4 Plus XT1770
1.First download stock firmware and flash it (Format all+ download).
2. Then run the phone once. You will be having unknown baseband error.
3. Nothing to worry. Here is the fix.
4. Again Open Sp flash Tool and Click On Scatter Loading.
5.Here Select Scatter from LK Folder (Already In Firmware Folder)
6.Click On Download. Switch off the phone and holding volume up and volume down button connect it to PC.
7.After Flash Switch On The device
Device Will be on Special Bootloader Mode.
8.Again Connect Device to PC
9.Open Firmware Folder
7.Run "hwflash" Bat.It is present in firmware folder.(IMPORTANT)
8. Next Download XT1770. (I have attached the file)
Copy That Bat File in Firmware Folder and run it.
AFTER THE BAT Runs,Type "1"press Enter.
( Note: If it just runs without you getting a chance to press 1 , that means adb is not there in Local Disk C. You can confirm by running the command "adb devices" from cmd. )
9.If things go correctly, you will get Press any key to exit command.
10. Now disconnect your phone.
11. Again open Sp flash tool and select the default 6737 scatter file( NOT the one in lk folder).
12. Now deselect all except preloader and lk. Click download. Your phone is still in special Bootloader mode. Power off and holding volume up and volume down connect your device to the PC again.
13. Once flashing is complete. Switch on the phone again.
14. You will now have baseband. If you still have null imei, fix it using Maui Meta tool from hovatek forum.
15. All this info was collected from GsmHosting.
Thanks .

I think that is because you have a highly secured antivirus installed. Try disabling the antivirus. Also in Windows 10 , ensure real-time protection from Windows Update is turned off. And even after doing all this if nothing works, like I already said, check if "adb devices" command detect your device. If the command does not recognize your device install minimal adb and fastboot and copy the files to a folder created to a folder named "adb" in Local Disk C. For assuring 100% success you can paste the firmware files also in adb. Hope this helps.

Null imei or no baseband. your device nvram which contain radio functionality of device(imei, bluetooth, wifi etc etc) somehow got corrupted or formatted.

*Format all* option erases data from all partitions. probably you lose your device nvram.

You can fix this by following method :
anyone in this forum willing to provide you their device nvram data can fix your device or you can fix this by using imei injector tool.
Backup your device nvram manually :
dd if=/dev/block/platform/.../.../by-name/nvram of=/sdcard/nvram.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/.../.../by-name/nvdata of=/sdcard/nvdata.img
Install using this method :
fastboot flash nvram nvram.img
fastboot flash nvdata nvdata.img

My device no nvram

Unfortunately you can't do anything, i have the same problem so, tried to flash other firmware available with latest update it worked but VoLTE was not working on any available ROM since none of them are for Indian version.
Finally locked the bootloader took it to service center, they factory reset the firmware to "LLD-AL10 8.0.0.101 (C675)" after that my phone is unable to find latest OTA update.

[GUIDE] How to create 'mmcblk0.img' from a working device?

Below are the steps I followed to create a mmcblk0.img from a working device.
What is needed? -
a) A Working device of same model XT179x where 'x' could be 2,3,4,5,etc depending on region.
b) It should be a rooted one.
c) A working linux system. Any variant would do.
Steps to follow in working device:
1) Reboot device to TWRP recovery.
2) Take a backup of system, data and boot partitions. While taking backup, select the storage as Micro SDCard.
3) Once backup is complete, do a factory reset. This step is required as you don't want your friends personal files and settings.
3a) Power off the device.
4) Remove the SIM and existing SDCard.
5) Insert a new 32GB SDCard Class 10 UHS-1 into the device. This should be formatted as FAT32 or exFAT.
6) Boot the device.
7) Once booted, connect the device to computer using USB.
8) Open a terminal in your linux.
9) adb devices (This step assumes that adb and fastboot are in linux system path)
10) adb shell
11) su -
12) You are in root shell now.
13) cat /proc/partitions.
13a) Above step would list out all partitions.
14) Note the size of mmcblk0 partition.
15) Now run 'dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/<STORAGE-ID>/mmcblk0.img bs=1000000000 count=30' without quotes. 'bs' stands for block size. Here in the above command I am giving a block size of 1GB. In my case mmcblk0 partition size was nearly 30GB. So the above command worked for me. If you are experiencing problem, then play with the numbers. For example you could try decreasing the 'bs' value and increase the 'count' value. Ultimately 'bs' multiplied by count should be the partition size. If everything goes fine, you will have a mmcblk0.img in your sdcard. One more point to note. <STORAGE-ID> in the command is the place holder. The actual ID would be a hexadecimal value. You can get your storage id by doing a 'ls /storage' in root shell. In my case the SDCard was referred as 7368-9BEE.
16)Above step would take some time as it has to create a image of 30G size. Once complete, copy the image from SDcard to your computer.
17) Power off the device and remove the SDcard from device.
18) Insert your friend's SIM card and SDCard.
19) Boot to TWRP recovery.
20) Restore the backup you took in step 2 above.
Thanks

I just used adb in a dos-cmd-prompt under windows 10. As steps 10 until 15 are executed inside 'adb shell' and use nothing of the underlying OS (only on the phone itself).
Furtheron, i had to use a exFAT formatted SD-card, as FAT32 maxfile size is 4Gb and the mmcblk0.img file will be (a lot) bigger.
And i had to use a 64Gb SD-card as my mmcblk0.img seems to be bigger as yours (and the SD-card hosts some files in the android-folder, onces the phone was booted).
My mmcblk0 was listed in 'cat /proc/partitions' sized at 30.535.680 (blocks of 1024 bytes).
I used dd command:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/<SDcard-ID>/mmcblk0.img bs=1048576 count=29820
matching the exact size of mmcblk0
Once i uploaded the image file, i will put the download link in a post in the unbrick thread. With specs of my phone and versions.
Can you make a video about it? which is in linux or windows 10 because I already have 2 days with my cell phone dead and I still can not solve the problem. The template is xt1792.

Thanks

Since no one responded to my request in the Q&A section I'll ask here so sorry for off topic but I know people here will have a rooted moto g5
Since I don't own this device anymore I'm looking for someone to provide the mmcblk0 partition so people with hard bricked device could potentially revive them
If you would like to provide it you will need the following
A moto g5 cedric rooted with twrp installed
A blank micro sd card of at least 32gb
Linux/Ubuntu or a virtual machine running it
Cloud storage & a decent Internet connection
See instructions below

Sorry, my Spanish (is it spanish?) is not that good. English for me please.
If the xt1670 is compatible with xt1676? i don't know. My guess, it is not. As yours has 2+32Gb and mine has 3+16Gb.
And the image is almost 16Gb and not almost 32Gb.
I create the image with blocksize (bs=) 1048576 and count 14910 for the xt1676.
Hope this helps.

The 'dd' command writes a (big) file on the SDcard. Actually, can see the file on de SDcard.
See thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s/how-to/blank-flash-montana-t3765150 howto write the image-file on a recovery SDcard.
The phone boots from the SDcard and gives you the opportunity to flashboot the latest stockrom to the internal storage of your phone.
I did *not* brick my phone (yet), so i did not test this recovery. I just created the mmcblk0 images for xt1676 and xt1794.
Can someone please create this file of a moto g5s xt1799-2?
Can someone please make a xt1972 Montana file? I can't revive my Montana with XT1974 and xt1975 files :/ I'm trying so hard since monday, please!

I tried downgrading the bootloader and my XT1795 is hard bricked now. The device doesn't boot up with only led blinking when power source is connected.
Have you flashed the file provided by hanshu43 in the previous post ?
If yes can you please help me with how to flash the mmcblk0 file on my XT1795 .
And is everything working fine after you have flashed an XT1794 file on XT1795 ?

Thankyou!

How to install ZUI - No bootloop, no brick, no bugs.

First you have to download and install 'Minimal ADB and Fasboot' (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790)
Now you have to download the latest firmware available here https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/montana_retcn/official/RETCN/
Extract it to the folder you installed Minimal ADB
Press Shift + Right click in the folder, select "open command window"
Put your phone in fastboot mode
Select and copy all the codes below then right click in the CMD window opened.
Code:
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.9
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.10
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.11
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.12
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.13
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.14
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.15
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot reboot
All working, tested by myself.
Wont brick because commands related to bootloader were removed.
For Brazilians:
Primeiramente você vai precisar instalar o 'Minimal ADB and Fastboot'(https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790)
Baixe o ultimo firmware disponivel neste site: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/montana_retcn/official/RETCN/
From the only Firmware folder none of command will execute, You need to download
minimal adb fastboot Tools and extract anywhere in PC.
Than
You need to extract downloaded firmware zip file to fastboot Tools folder, and
Than
just copy attached file in the same folder,
Rename file from FlashRomZui.txt to FlashRomZui.bat
It will become Batch file...
In case by renaming it wont become batch file than open in notepad and save as FlashRomZui.bat in same folder it will become batch file for sure.
Now connect your phone to PC in bootloader mode
And just double click FlashRomZui.bat
Wait to end process... it will take 5 to 7 Minutes
Copy past commands one by one can make it complicated for beginners...
Cheers
Sorry if stupid question , but does the bootloader get locked after the operation ? And also , is it necessary to overwrite the recovery too ? Cause i saw the line. And if so , can i put TWRP back with no problem ?

No, the bootloader remains unlocked.
The Stock recovery is needed just for first boot, after that u can flash and use TWRP normally

How To Guide [GUIDE][REALME 8][Unofficial] New method Unlock Bootloader, Flash TWRP and Root [RMX3085]

Hello guys!
As you all know that there is no deeptest.apk available for our device.
So we have to unlock our bootloader unofficially!
NOTE: IF U HAVEN'T UPGRADED AFTER A19 ROM THEN SKIP FIRST PART !!! And follow the instructions from 2nd part. Also this method only works on RUI 2.0
DON'T TRY THIS IN RUI 3.0
/*
* This Guide is tested and working.
* However I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns about unlocking and flashing TWRP
* Before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications.

So Lets Begin the Process:
1. Flashing A19 Partitions:Requirements:
PC or Laptop
Internet connection
Realme 8
USB cable
Take a backup of your data, Just in case if any error happens.
Windows Method
Requirements:
Bypass Tools Pack - (DRIVER AND BYPASS FILES)
SP Flash Tool
Decrypted OFP (OPPO FIRMWARE PACKAGE) Partitions:
Partitions.zip
Install Python from Windows Store
libusb-win32 - Having Issues? Use this.
Get usbdk installer (.msi) from here and install it
Steps:
1) Extract the zip
2) Go to driver folder, find the .inf file right click and press install.

3)Download this file and install it, after installing power off phone and connect to pc while holding Vol+- (don't leave the buttons after connecting) . You might need this driver as well if it's not detected.
Press next, connect your device to PC while holding Vol+- buttons (your device needs to be powered off, and don't leave the buttons) and you will see the mtkdriver down below. Install it.
Choose MediaTek USB Port and install it.
4)Then run the brom.bat under Bypass folder.
5) Now power off the phone and connect the phone while holding volume + and - (Don't leave the buttons until the bypass is done)
6)After the above step Go into Flash Tool folder and open the SPFlash tool and launch flash_tool.exe
7) Click on Options>Options and go to Connections and select UART and set Baud Rate to 921600
8)Now in Sp flash tool select the scatter file which you have extracted from Partitions.zip and make sure that prealoder, lk, and lk2 is selected.
9) You don't need to select auth file as authorization is disabled. Once you do it, it should look like this. ALWAYS MAKE SURE DOWNLOAD ONLY MODE IS SELECTED! DON'T SELECT OTHER MODES!
Make SURE "Download Only" is selected. Don't select ANYTHING ELSE! You will lose your IMEIs, Serial Numbers, Capability of Hardware Attestation etc. if you choose "Format data + Download" make SURE you selected "Download Only".
10) Now, you can start downloading with the button and after that a checkmark will appear. You can reboot your phone
After flashing it should look like this. Download has been complete.
2. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER:Requirements
PC or Laptop
Internet connection
USB cable
Take a backup of your data since it'll be wiped
Go to About phone > Version and tap build number 7 times
Go to Settings > advanced settings > Developer options and turn on OEM unlocking and USB debugging
Steps:
Install USBDk
Download this and extract : https://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
Now open command prompt in that folder
Now type pip3 install -r requirements.txt and hit enter
Now type python mtk e metadata,userdata,md_udc hit enter - This command wipes data
Then power off your phone and hold both volume buttons and connect usb cable (DON'T LEAVE THE BUTTONS, KEEP THEM HOLDING THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS) - This boots device into BROM mode
Now type python mtk da seccfg unlock This will unlock the bootloader (If you face waiting for device issue then unplug the device and plug in the device again with holding volume buttons, also don't leave the buttons)
After this unplug your phone and turn it on (It'll show your device dm verity corrupted and first boot might take 5-10 mins, don't panic)
Now your bootloader is unlocked
Due to realme's limitations you still can't access fastboot after unlocking via this method
3. ROOTING YOUR DEVICE:
Install This Magisk apk
Download Patched Boot image (According to your device firmware) from the link and put them in MTK client folder.
Now in pc type python mtk w boot, vbmeta boot.patched,vbmeta.img.empty hit enter
Then power off your phone and connect usb while holding both volume buttons (and don't leave them)
Now disconnect and reboot phone
Now open Magisk app
4. FLASHING TWRP RECOVERY:
Download TWRP - From here and extract it.
Download and install Flashify app
Open Flashify and grant root permission
Select Recovery image from the extracted twrp folder and install it
After flashing is done click reboot now or you can reboot to recovery via magisk app
"Congrats Now we have working TWRP in Realme 8, Enjoy "

Then in the command line pc where I unlocked the bootloader I continued with the entered command and connected the phone according to the instructions. She wrote me this error
DAXFlash - [LIB]: ← [31mFilename does not exist: vbmeta.img, flash notation is canceled. ← [0m Failed to write vbmeta.img to sector 73480 with number of sectors 2048. "
what did I do wrong? Thank you

You can try again. I think you didn't write the command in correct way.

Check permissions in magisk manager app. If it didn't work you can also use sp flash tool to flash recovery. For more information you can check this guide also -> link
at the step 3 beween
* Install This Magisk apk
and
* Now in pc type python mtk w boot, vbmeta boot.patched,vbmeta.img.empty hit enter
seems must be explicitly written additional steps :
** copy original boot.img to device
** in magisk make a patched version (check new file in log of creation)
** copy resulting file to the PC
** rename to boot.patched

I'm done according to the instructions. If I made a mistake somewhere, I don't think it would be finished. Thank you for the instructions and thank you for your help.
Where can I find a call recording? If I do the factory settings or the update do I have to do it again?
