headphone issue - no sound at all - Maze Alpha Questions & Answers

Hi, I had an 4GB Alpha for a week but have just sold it today (I realized I still prefer my Xiaomi Max). The guy who bought it contacted me after a couple of hours because he can't get any sound out of the headphone socket. He tried it with several headphones which work without issues with other phones (as far as I understand he tested it with Samsung and Sony headphones) and I have no idea what setting to change (he tried the volume buttons trust me) - any ideas how to make the headphone socket work? I had no idea about this issue as I don't use wired headphones at all. Btw the phone detects the headphones as the headphone icon is displayed when a headphone is connected.

Mine work just fine. received the phone the week before Xmas and it got 2 updates since then. Tried with Samsung, AKG (both in hear) and JVC headsets and had no problems whatsoever. Maybe you/he can solve the problem with this last system update via OTA or could be a hardware failure. In my Samsung A5 2017 only the Samsung headphones would work because the jack was a tad longer than the AKG's. The latter would spring back after being inserted and only one channel would work.

pause for effect
I have found that inserting the jack but pausing before pushing in for the "click" allows the phone to detect the headphones. Logo shows in the status bar. I don't even think about it anymore when I do it. Not ideal but workable. I use an old pair of Samsung earbuds.
Hope it helps

fuze call people when headphone adapter plugged in

Using an ENERGY Rom Mercury, but I have tried other roms as well. When I plug in my headphone adapter and then attempt to play music through a 3.5mm audio jack, it calls the last person I dialed... repeatedly. Any suggestions?
Similar problem with Stock Headphones
I use to have the same thing happen with me when I used the stock headphones. The closest thing to a fix I could find for it was to hold down the button on the headphones as I plugged them in. It wasn' a 1005 fix but significantly reduced accidental calls. You might be having a similar problem with the adapter/headphone you're using so you might want to mess around a bit with any buttons you have on the adapter/headphones.
I have noticed this behavior as well, though I am not using the latest 7/22 ROM. It is not consistent though so I cannot say exactly when it happens, or why at this point.
This should be nothing to do with your ROMS. I had the exact same problem with my stock headphones after many months of use on a stock Touch Pro. I think its just related to physical damage of the headphones which somehow causes it to trigger the 'call last dial' function. I replaced my headhphones and everything has been running sweet since.

[Q] Galaxy S - low volume on headset, unless holding the headset button

hello.
I have very annoying problem since day one on my Galaxy S I9000 with FroYo. The volume on headset(original) is too low, barely audible, unless I press and hold the button that is on the headset. I have tried to hook up stereo speakers with 3.5mm jack and they have very low volume as well. I have tried headphones from motorola and blackberry - same thing - low volume unless holding the headset button.
I have Hannspree Hannspad SN10T1 as well and it has the same problem, it runs android 2.2. No matter what volume boosting apps I use the problem persists on both devices.
P.S. Same headsets (samsung original, blackberry, and motorola) I used to test both devices - work perfectly on my motorola defy phone. So I presume that the headsets are OK. It must be something wrong with Galaxy S and Hannspad.
Both devices are hard resetted and non-rooted.
Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks

And you are sure that the plug is all the way down?

Absolutely sure. Even tried to pull it a bit, but then just one of the headphones working. The plug goes all the way down as it should, still very low volume.
I can't be the only one with two completely different devices running android 2.2 that share absolutely the same problem.
Is there any software that can swap channels on the headsets? or swap channel for the microphone with one of the speakers, because it seems to be non-propperly configured channels to me.
Any other suggestions?
the pin-out configuration for these phones are different from most and the only headsets that i know that are compatible are nokia headsets. theres also adapters you can buy that will convert the wires the right way so the earphones/mic/button all work properly.
this one is confirmed to work: http://www.meelec.com/MEE_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm
Thank you very much for clearing that out evil-doer !
I will try one of those.
I thought - when I had this problem - that my headset was defect. So I bought a new one from eBay.
Everything is nice so far - The new one is working great.
I hadn't the chance to test if it's working on another device.
is there to solve this through the service mode?

Headphones do not work when plugged in - Help

Whenever I connect my Skullcandy headphones, only the left headphone works. Also, the white earbuds that came with the Note do the same thing. Only 1 earbud works while the right one doesnt. Is anyone else having the same problems? The phone is new.
press the headphone connector firmly.. also there are some headphones pin configuration are changed so all the headphones are not comfortable with all the 3.5 mm jacks..
if the problem persisted same there are chances to service your connector...
If I push the connector down hard it works, but when I let go, one earbud stops working. Even my Samsung earphones don't work properly.

Could you describe your problems with headphone jack? Probably we are facing the same issue. For example, my proximity and ambient light sensors are working, but headphones aren't (sensors are attached to the headphone connector). Replacement part arrived today, I replaced it, and my headphones still aren't working. Actually, they do, but the volume is so low, I almost can't hear anything.

My headphone jack just doesnt work, everything else seems to. If i push down on the headphone wire when in the jack i get audio out of one ear but thats it. I resorted to buying a pair of bluetooth headphones. They work amazingly.

Exactly the problems I'm facing with, and I think I'll solve it the same way you did.

Headphone port depth

Hey all,
So I searched the forum and found quite a few headphone port issues discussed, but no mention of my exact problem. And yes, I looked inside my port and scraped around with a toothpick... there is nothing immediately obvious obstructing the port- hence the need for my post
My headphone port seems to be short on depth. I have a pair of headphones with an inline mic. There are perfectly fine for listening to music (they even snap into place as they should). But the mic doesn't work. I don't use that often so i forgot about it.
Well the other day I bought a selfie stick (I know... I know... don't kick me! My fiance and I travel a lot and sometimes it is impossible to find someone to take a photo for you in front of a landmark). I bought a wired one to avoid the battery drain of BT (which I don't use much except in the car). Well, the shutter button on the stick doesn't work with my N6. I have 5 camera apps installed and all have the volume buttons mapped to the shutter...I tried it with my fiance's LG G4 and my old GS2, it works on both of them.
So while trying to trouble shoot this issue, I plugged my headphones into her phone and made a call... low and held, the mic worked. Next I searched the forums and Google and found the issues of clogged ports. Mine isn't. And I used a bright halogen light to peer inside. Nothing but port. So I measured it.
Here is the interesting part, my first measurements just involved watching how far the jack entered the port. I tried my phone, my S2 and the LGG4... the S2 and the G4 both ingested the entire jack. My N6, about 1mm was left out. So I measured by inserting a tooth pick and measuring how far it went in, sure enough, my N6 is about 1mm shallower then the others.
I did find one post here on XDA where people suggested that you had to press very hard to fully insert a jack. I tried, I nearly broke the headphones in the attempt... and no change.
Has anyone else had this exact issue? Were you able to solve it?
Has anyone attempted to replace the port?
Just a bump...
Anyone? TIA
Those mics don't tend to work in most cases if they work on an iphone vice versa, there are converters on dx.com as example. Sony headphones are known to work fine on android phones, I got a sony mdr-1 with an inline mic and controls that works fine on my n6.
If you want I can send pictures of the headphone jack connector when the back panel is removed, my back panel is currently loose after replacing the battery and I'm still waiting for the replacement ^^

Sure, the photo would be great.
The headphones I have work on two other Android devices, as well as the selfie stick. So it doesn't appear to be a comparability issue with Android.
Thanks!
So,
When I had a Moto X (V2) I asked moto about the volume controls and was told that they did not implement them, as it was not an Android standard feature. My guess it that it is the same with the Nexus 6 (I now use bt headphones, so haven't tried). My guess is that the microphone doesn't work on your headphones (try another set) and that the volume control over the headphone jack is not implemented.

Hey Note Dude.
Thanks for responding. It's an interesting theory, but I have an inline volume control on this headset that does indeed adjust the volume. So, it's really just the mic.
Thanks, though!
