Official Oreo - Haptic feedback bug - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

I installed Oreo update and noticed that sometimes I get double vibrate feedback when pressing the capacitive buttons, home button or keyboard.
I also noticed that the vibration intensity is not kept and it becomes increasingly stronger.
I tried resetting (delete everything including storage) and sideloading oreo without recovering from cloud to exclude any apps interfering. Still as soon as I finish the welcome configuration steps I encounter this problem.
Because on the official Oreo topic everyone is keen on discussing installation problems (even though everyone is just repeating the same things) I thought to open a separate topic.

I'm having the same issue as well

Me too.

Issue exists since leaked beta 2, was never fixed. This release is basically a reskinned beta...

That's kind of disappointing

Same for me!

please raport to oneplus that we get it fixed!!

I also have it but it doesn't bother me. :/

Fingerprint unlock haptic feedback is also gone

I also tried that and can not determine the error.

I have the same problem since the upgrade to Oreo. Where do I find the option for haptic feedback when unlocking my phone?

Same here... Double haptic vibration almost all the time I press 'back' or 'recent' buttons
OOs 5.0 / Magisk 15
Not a big deal but still annoying, hope OP will fix that

So it's not a common bug... That is pretty interesting. I don't have it after the reset of vibration issue...

I can't say that I experienced that too. But I will keep an eye on it for the next couple of days. Maybe I just didn't notice it.

press and hold the power button to see if it comes back to life, sometimes I get this on a .569 custom rom and have to either hold power+volume up to reboot it to get it to work

Nope, stock kernel
I don't have your problem but I did have times yesterday where it would flash me black screens for no reason, for example when trying to close open apps, it would just flicker black for a bit. Haven't had that problem today though. I do however have broken Wifi at the moment, I can no longer connect to any network or access the settings without the settings freezing.

Yes, auto rotate. It breaks after the "black

If you are using any sort of covers around the phone, remove it and try
The proximity sensor has become very sensitive preventing in-pocket turning on of the device, this might be your issue

camera lag
I have the camera lag. when I open the camera app it takes complete a second or two to open. and if you open it from lock screen it takes for ever. well at least from the lock screen it was laggy on .569 too. other than that the UI is slightly slower and laggy than .569.

Dunno bout solution, but turning 'Vibrate on touch' OFF in Settings>Sound lessened my woes...
It's stronger than in MIUI. But I find this to not be an issue since the vibration is on the weak side on MIUI anyways.

Very stable, could be new FW forces higher voltage to WiFi unit, even the range is slightly extended. I noticed it because I get better signal in bathroom
@alray No keyboards support my language, so having swype or something like that is useless. But I will try with others, just for the sake of vibro

You are not forced to use the swipe functionally if you don't want, even if using swiftkey. You can change the vibration in swiftkey to what you like.

There is one thing you can try if your device is rooted. Not sure if it will work but if you go to play store and download keyboard backlight controller by deskangel, and then open it and tap lock on backlight it might work.

It works, but the buttons remain lit even after you turn the screen off.
Make sure "only when screen on" is enabled. I cant test it because I don't want root anymore

Phone screen doesn't turn on after some idle time.

Since a little while I have an issue where if I leave my phone locked for a while (idle), and I try to unlock it, the screen doesn't show anything.
The device does still unlock but no image is displayed, the only way to fix it temporarily is to hold the power button and reboot the device.
I'm running Rooted Marshmallow atm, but the issue occurs with any ROM I have tried so far.
Does anyone know how to fix this, because it is really annoying.
Greetings
Does anyone have an idea??
I get this actually. The 'fix' is to swipe down from the top when the phone is unlocked but the screen is black.

Could it be due to Doze?
Everything ok with my device, never had this problem. I'm running official stock 6.0 non-rooted. Try to deactivate Moto Display and see if the problem continues to happen.

I've "disabled" Doze for 2 days now, and the issue hasn't been back since then.
So might be a doze related bug.
Still not certain

Screen turns on during calls

So I just got my midnight black oneplus 3T. Love the phone, battery life everything. However, during calls, mainly on 7.1.1 my screen turns on and I press buttons with my face by accident, it's seriously annoying and because of it I've had the phone in a box for the past 5 days. I currently have an iPhone 7 plus and I reeeallly want to give the phone a chance but this is seriously annoying!
Does anyone have any tips for me at all?
Cheers

Are you keeping the top part of phone a bit away? Maybe that could be the reason or simply the proximity sensor is faulty. You could try a reset and if the problem is still there get it checked form OnePlus.

I have this bug too on 7.1.1/4.1.3. Proximity sensor is tested to be working.
I read somewhere that it's a bug in the oneplus dialer, and sideloading the goggle pixel dialer fixes the issue, but I could not test it with the Magisk module, because I ran into a different bug, and lost networking until I reinstalled Magisk from scratch...
Try it at your own risk.

Definitely not keeping the phone away from my face at all. Another user said its a software bug. I might just have to try lineage OS for a bit.
