Any news on the release date?

Just wondered if anyone has any info on when we can expect the P9+ to hit the stores in the EU? I keep asking local vendors but they don't seem to have any information yet. Holding out for the P9+ as I reckon it'll be worth it over the P9, but I'm so desperate for a new phone I may cave and get the P9 instead!
I was in the Shanghai store today and maybe this weekend here in china. Apr 30-May 1 Probably won't hit Europe for another couple weeks. I already prepaid but I don't know where I am in the queue. If not they told me next batch here is a few weeks after that. I'll see if I can get it.. ??.

The lack of information is starting to annoy me now. If I could get the 64Gb version of the P9 I'd opt for that, but the UK seems only to be getting the 32Gb version and I'm reluctant to go down the grey import route.
Between 10 and 20 may, in that time V8 gets announced.

I hope so, I saw 20th May mentioned at the time of release. I can certainly wait that long, just hope it pops up websites for pre-order sooner rather than later!
Got the phone on April 30th Chinese 128Gb version. The chinese 64Gb version doesn't have the pressure touch feature. 128Gb was 4388rmb. Installed all gapps once I got home just fine.

in switzerland they say 10th may, so it should be free to buy in this timeframe.

Huawei Honor V8 announced today
There is now an interesting alternative to the P9 Plus from Huawei itself...
Honor V8:
5.7-inch Quad HD display, 4/64GB, Kirin 950, dual 12MP cam, dual SIM
Cheaper than P9 Plus.
Orders in China start May 17th

Hello.
I am from Germany. My Huawei P9 plus was sent to me today. It will arrive tomorrow or next week at Tuesday.
So here in Germany you can buy it. Price: 661 Euro.
I had P9 for 2 days and Mate 8 for 2 month. The P9 was too small. But the camera was so excellent that I decided to buy the P9 plus. I hope this was a good decision ?
Sorry for my bad English. I hope you can understand me.

No, not locked. Maybe O2 Firmware. I will get it today an can report later.
Hello.
Handy arrived a few hours ago. I'm really fascinated about this device. Feels much faster than Mate 8.
No O2 firmware. Everything original Huawei.
Double speaker are not as expected. The single speaker in Mate 8 is way better. Camera is fantastic. Display is very nice.
What do you want to know else?

Okay, sorry to keep going on about it, it's just that I believe the phones that O2 sell in the UK are locked to their network. I'll take a look at ordering one from Germany! Thanks!
No, no!!! It is ok. Some years ago it was almost the same in Germany. The handys from O2 always had firmware from O2. But now you will become unbranded hardware. There is no branding at all.

What maybe will be interesting for people who are interested in buying a P9 plus: the notifications LED is NOT included in the speaker like P9 where you almost can't see it. The LED is extra on the left side next to the front camera. That is positive.

Ordered my 6GB/128GB...

After much deliberation - I've ordered my Mate 10 6GB/128GB. (5th Nov)
I hesitated as it's a lot of money - but I've ordered it from Giztop where it was £615+£22 DHL. However, if you signup to their newsletter, you get a discount code of 2%. So full price with postage is £624.99 or $842.41 (although Google tells me this is more like £643)
Giztop don't rebrand, but they appear to install Google services.
Should I want to rebrand - and I probably will, getting the bootloader code from Huawei looks fairly straightforward and then I can use FunkyHuawei's method to rebrand to Asia as I have a couple credits to use.
I'll update when I get the tracking number and when the phone hits my hands. Plus if I encounter any f**king import fees, but Giztop state they declare low value to avoid this.

You used Giztop before? How do you rate them? Are they like Amazon and aliexpress? I might get the pro too as its better on battery it seems. Have the one you're getting already. Bought from wonda mobile. Next day delivered from Hong Kong! Next.... Day!

Never used Giztop before. Someone else here did and got no issues. Paid via Paypal for the protection offered. They're not like Amazon or Aliexpress. More like Wonda. But they were significantly cheaper than Wonda.
I'm not interested in the Pro as it doesn't have the 2K screen which I like to use with Daydream.
I received a tracking number this morning. So that's less than a couple days.
I just ordered the pro blue 6gb/128gb from giztop on Friday. I'm not expecting to get it for a couple of weeks seeing how it's not out yet even though they emailed me stating they might send it this week and their website states it is in stock which is the reason I originally bought from them.
does anyone know, is it possible to buy ALP-AL100 Mate 10 6/128 in Taiwan? in offline shop
or does not make sense inasmuch as online with global shipping will be cheaper anyway?
Right, so I have the Mate 10 in my hands and have had for about 14 hours.
Phone ordered 5th Nov and I had TNT tracking on the 7th. Phone arrived on 10th in the UK. Giztop marked it as worth $58. So no customs charges.
Big surprise? Already running L29 C636!!
Checked for update and got 115 straight away OTA.
So impressed with Giztop there. I was dubious after a couple poor reviews I found and what seemed to be no response to emails. Then they did.
You get the same package as Wonda, but for cheaper
Comes with a well fitted gel case. Mate 9 Pro came with an ill fitting plastic one that allowed grit inside and scratched the back of it
As for the Mate 10. Nice bit of kit. Not sure the screen is as nice as my Mate 9 Pro. Still finding my way around Emui 8, which is a little different to 5. My Tesco banking app doesn't work. Tells me not compatible with this device.
Mate 9 Pro also had the ability to turn on a general dark theme in battery settings. Not available here, maybe only Pro models.
No separate SD card holder. Dual SIM or single and SD card.
Can't get the single home button navigation to work very well, so using on screen buttons, which, for a screen this size, doesn't matter
No crashing, very stable.
Not tried the cameras yet, but they're virtually the same as Mate 9 Pro anyway.
Will be interested to link to a monitor.

Surprised about the single home button not working so well for you. Others have mentioned it as a key difference between the pro and non-pro version. Franky it was one of the big reasons why I was leaning towards the non pro version.
What's been the problem for you?
Thanks.
Great that they rebranded yours. Mine came in with 00 with GP installed. Took a bit to hide all the Chinese stuff. IMO desktop mode is pretty good. Not I7 gtx 970 good but beats the hell out of Dex. I'm still on 113 and reception is a little weak. If no update in a month will see Funky. How are you liking yours so far? That K970 pretty fast isn't it.

I turned it on and it didn't seem that responsive to me. I only used for ten minutes and couldn't really get on with it. Perhaps I was doing it wrong?

Yes in the UK.
Build:
ALP-L29 8.0.0.115 (C636)
I was expecting it to be rebranded. Out of the box it was running 103, I checked for updates and it went to 115. Not sure if 118 is the latest to install? (What firmware finder says...but it's only looking for ALP.

Did you use Funky Huawei method to rebrand? I do have my bootloader unlock code.

finally got a BOE screen, should i keep it

so ive been using the mate 20 pro for 3 weeks now, this is m 4th phone in total, finally blessed with a BOE screen. Do you think its a good upgrade over the s8 plus.
things ive considered:
s8 plus can be sold for at least £280
i pre ordered so i get the smart watch which can be sold for 150ish i guess (ill keep the charger)
its two year contract however
do you think its worth it??
You have to decide whether you need (or want) the new phone and whether you are willing to pay the price. From my experience it is never "worth" to buy an android phone within 3 months of release. Just like the Mate 20 most have severe issues that need to be fixed first and the price drops significantly aswell. I bought my Mate 10 Pro for 500€ last January after it was released in November for 800€. By that time they had already fixed some problems with updates.
Just make up your mind if you wanna have it or not... there is no relation to the money you pay anymore with smartphones.
IMHO: If your phone is still working fine, keep it. You can buy the Mate 20 after christmas, people will be selling unwanted gifts. You will get a much better deal. The S8 will have a similar price in 3 months
Only you can decide if it is worth keeping; is it worth it to *you*?
(Found out that I must be a lucky one, mine has an LG screen that seems to be fine so far)

Mate 20 is below €400 now

I bought my first Mate 20 in November for €599. Really loved the phone but wanted to try some other phones and gave it to my wife. One week ago I found that Amazon.it is selling it for €359 with a speaker included. I made an order instantly. Hence, my second Mate 20 arrived yesterday. Came from Xiaomi Mi 9 which is also a great phone but missed the larger screen and better battery life. Surprised that almost no one is interested in Mate 20 even for this price.

To answer your last sentence. A few reasons come to mind, fear mongering and American forum members influence. The last nail in the coffin would be boot loader locked and lack of third part development within XDA.

Is it not possible to unlock the Bootloader? Now that OEM unlock is available in developer options, at least it is on my Mate 20 on EMUI 9.1.0.300.

Huawei doesn't give out bootloader unlocking codes anymore. Hence why development for this brand is as good as dead now.

Question Where to buy?

Where is everyone picking these up at? Sale Prices?
Nice question.
I bought it on AliExpress when the early bird discount was on, you can still purchase it for the normal retail price, they ship from China, Spain, France and/or Poland.
Ok, Thanks. I will wait for it to go back on sale in the future... shouldn't take long to be back on sale with all the new phones being released.
I've been keeping an eye on Aliexpress these days and found the price fluctuating a lot. Alarmingly so.
And there're not many sellers having this phone, so the choices are limited.
I have a feeling that Xiaomi is spitting new phones way too fast that the retailers and consumers can't keep up.
I bought from Aliexpress launch special at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wor...108MP-Camera-Snapdragon/1005002136612866.html
Arrived yesterday so ~16 days after ordering to Brisbane, Australia
came to AUD$379 after local cashback rewards applied on top of special
