Takes less time and less space to install and if you are looking for only play store and play service with sync feature, this is best. More details are mentioned in the main thread (top). Pico gapps ~120mb & wicked gapps ~85mb

I tested it on aicp 7.1.
It got stuck at checking for software update.
Idk if that was normal or I should have waited more or what , I waited from 5-8min then i rebooted to test again but it was the same .

1 - Yes
2 - Forgot to try that, But I will be providing weekly or monthly update for 7.1 Gapps as soon as it is released by Google.
3 - In case if you can't update the Google apps just dirty flash the update I provided. (it will not cause any bug or ask for setup wizard for second time - it just gets updated)

No one informed a bug like this, if you want to cross check - unzip the gapps file and check for Google play service apk.

Well google play services have installed but it just doesn't open when I tap tap tap it BTW I didn't find the apk in zip can u tell me the location of the apk in zip.

Unzip it into folder and search for "Prebuiltgsmcore.apk"

and what about the libs inside the gapps package? did you stop to look inside the gapps before asking this question?
Well soon the entire android community will enjoy something new and great. No need to install unwanted gapps packages anymore. My project is almost there with great gapps devs like banks, nelly and others. With this project you make your own gapps package online. All the google apps will be up to date and you just choose the apps you want and then click on the apps you want on the package and hit build. Wait 5 mins and will send you the download link to your email. I been away due to this project and all the scripts are working correctly since is not just adding apps but pulling the libs as well. So hear soon from me on this.

Yes, Site and app will be release by the end of month guys. So far we are looking on a big server due to bandwidth but for the best news now you can make any gapps package in less then 1 min and ready to flash. Also I will have already made gapps packages for those inpatients. lol
I believe this is the best thing so far I can say is the best for android.
What apps are minimum to get playstore running.
I froze Google+ and it wouldn't complete downloads.
I did not create these roms. All credit goes to the Chinese Developer Bule.

Coming from another ROM:
1. Install custom recovery (TWRP recommended) http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/general/twrp2-8-7-0-light-materialized-theme-t3308492
2. Copy custom ROM zip file to sd-card (internal/external)
3. Boot into recovery mode
4. Now select wipe
5. Advance wipe & select system, data, dalvik cache, cache
6. Now, swipe to wipe
7. Select install & select custom rom zip
8. Install success
9. Now install gapps: Please choose ARM64 platform http://opengapps.org/?api=5.1&variant=pico
10. After installing gapps, wipe cache & dalvik cache
11. Reboot
12. That's all folk's, enjoy custom ROM
Upgrading to a new update:
Just flash without wiping.
Delete all the Chinese apps you find using Titanium or another uninstaller and reboot.

Single Sim (This edit might save you some battery life). If you only have one sim card in slot one and won't use sim 2.
Edit the build.prop line from persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds to persist.radio.multisim.config=ss and reboot.
Not getting enough battery life? Install these two apps. Charge the phone fully. Leave the phone in sleep mode for 8 hours (overnight). Use the two apps you installed to figure out what is draining the battery in standby. Uninstall the app or Greenify or use Privacy Guard to block the wakelocks. Easy.

everything with chinese characters in its name. Check under /system . They are about five apps, and also, remember to remove Statassistant/ckservice.apk (ref. http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/help/ckservice-apk-malicious-baidu-app-t3325081)
I've installed latest Bule's CM12.1 , and it works flawless, EDIT: WAIT, the notification light doesn't work properly, it is always red, both during battery charging, that for apps notifications, and button lights won't work too.. So, I'm reverting back to CM 12.1 August 19 (cm-12.1-20160819-UNOFFICIAL-hermes)
PS. There is the CPU temperature on the status bar.. I do not have any idea where I can find it among settings, though. (Or maybe, it's related to some of my xposed modules.. IDK yet... EDIT: it was Xposed Module Coolify.. oops

Bro, try Bliss-pop ROM out.
You may hide temperature by going to Settings > Bliss interface > Status bar > Temperature > Hidden.
Notification light works as it should be!

YES!!.. Lol
These are just my preference, I've always had no issues with them on compatibility (unlike others) plus they don't replace AOSP apps and keep a small size which is nice for saving download data..

Here's an updated version with better support.. I know an add-on isn't ideal, but I don't like removing it when I flash.. This rarely gets updated, so less work for me..

Don't try to dirty flash gapps.. They usually won't behave properly coming from a different package.. You'll need a system wipe at least to avoid issue..

For all those who want to install a stable miui 8. here it is . this rom is from an chinese website, at the start it had a lot of bloatware so i had modified the rom and removed all of the bloatware and tried to englishize it. this rom boots up without any problem and does not consume a lot of ram, so feel free to install this rom ! .
Installation Instructions-
! TWRP recovery is recommended !
! Your phone should be charged to 100% !
Download and copy the rom file to SD Card.
Boot into the recovery and take a thorough backup of your current rom incase if anything goes wrong.
After its completed, Wipe cache, dalvik,system and data.
After that, Flash the ROM file which is located in your SD Card .
After its completed, reboot to system.
The first boot may take time so be patient.
Gapps installation [optional but recommended]
The rom contains google installer app so no need of gapps package.
Open google installer app and press the green button and it will check for all the not installed google apps and it will download all of the gapps required and it shows a screen of installation of apps where you have to press on install and wait for some time and repeat this step for installation of other google apps.
After this , it will show some force closes of google play services, so to solve this, go to settings>installed apps>downloaded apps>click on google play services and scroll down until you find Permissions manager and click on it and allow all of the permissions required for it, repeat this step for all of the other google apps until you notice any google apps is not force closing.
After all of these are done, Voila! you can use this rom !

Hello guys! i have updated the rom to V3 and added some tweaks!
Change log V3-
added some tweaks
fixed mi music player not able to read music contents off the sd card or internal storage.
added htc keyboard and music player (you can uninstall htc music player if not needed).
Bugs and workarounds-
Mi camera force closes when switching to front camera.
when going to settings>about phone>system update, the settings force closes.
flashing procedure-
same as the earlier version of this rom.

i have not not calculated it, but its decent. my phone's battery is bloated so the SOT might differ.

No the whatsapp video call is not working for now but i'm trying to fix it but I'm consistently failing in it .

Expected so...cos cyanogen based all 6.0 MM roms has broken hwc ...which was fixed in recent versions of lineage os N roms...if only u can make a miui build on lineage 15.1..it will work

do you mean lineage 14.1 ?, because lineage 15.1 is not developed currently for our galaxy s3:crying:
So if anyone can help me building miui 9 for our device which is based on lineage 14.1 could be helpful and i have made an test build of miui 9 based on marshmallow but unfortunately the launcher force closes and because of that the whole ui becomes unresponsive:crying:. so if anyone is there to help me out to build miui 9 for our beloved device would be grateful.

hwc has nothing to do with WhatsApp calling. WhatsApp calling has been fixed on both CM13 and LOS14/14.1
Launcher crashes all the time, i can go into settings, but there is no "google services" to chose from.
Been rebooting, wiping cache, dalvik, etc, tried a lot of different stuff. I selected Swedish language, could that **** stuff up?
Edit: i was not 100% charged, but would that really make a difference?

maybe, did you performed a full wipe before installing the rom ?
because if you dirty flash the rom it could get unstable and you have to install the google apps manually using the google installer app present in the rom, procedures are given in the op

Hmm, yeah i did! Seems to be a language issue, try changing to Swedish and it starts crashing, other languages seems to work ok.

Sorry bro I ve tested the latest build but it not booted at all and the build has been removed from the site
I've tried the experimental build
I've used pico gapps but the same error came
So I've decided to get google services by google installer apk
All the necessary services installed but playstore keep crashing
Don't waste your precious time on this device
If you still want to install custom ROM go and get try pixel experience https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note/general/pixelexperience-redmi-note-4g-t4086099
I've tested everything working fine but I was unable to sign in my google account you should try if the same problem does not occur to you

Follow them to sign in
Flash rom,flash magisk, flash weeb gapps magisk, no need flash gapps to system, we know dior have limited system size
