Magisk v15.2 not installing - Magisk

Hello
Okay i flashed my mobile with new OTA
after i try to install magisk but getting error that "Magisk manager stopped" after zip downloaded
i dont know why that happening
after zip downloaded getting black window then pop up shown about error
i think it cant patch boot img properly
in my old rom it works properly, but after flashing it did not work
thank you....

Try installing it in recovery

I sometimes get that majisk stopped toast on just about any ROM and just about any majisk release. I just ignore it. I have no idea of the what or why. Haven't noticed it affecting anything.

Yes. It's happening to me too. Does it work if I flash this update with twrp?

Did you read the responses above? It was already suggested to try that.

After installing magisk 15.2, magisk manager 5.5.3 stuck at the splash screen for me. What's wrong ?

Having the exact same issue on a pixel xl. Tried on 7.1 and 8.1, both with the same result.

I never use manager. Always TWRP, and can people start searching and using the support thread for questions, logs, and bugs instead of keep making a hundred useless threads of the same thing, can't install, can't install modules, etc. That's what support thread for. Thanks.

I am using MIUI 7.12.28 (latest) on Redmid 3S and I can flash magisk 15.2 using TWRP normally but when the phone restart, i go to magisk manager and it shows that magisk is not installed
I tried flash many time but the same problem happen
When i tried to flash magisk 14.0, it works. what is the problem here o_o

Magisk Manager constant crashes after reinstalling ROM

Hey,
I've been getting constant Magisk Manager crashes every time I try to run it even after multiple "full wipes" (except internal sdcard data) and I can't even get the logs because it doesn't let me access them and there's no folder with logs in them. What am I supposed to do? I already flashed the stock kernel and it didn't fix it. My ROM is the XtreStoLite and I'm using a Galaxy S6 920F. What could be causing it to crash even after "full" wipes?
Thanks
EDIT: Additionally, I can install Magisk without any problem in recovery but whenever I try to run an app that requires root rights, it shows the "Magisk Manager stopped working" error
I just did a complete wipe of literally everything I had on my phone, internal storage included and installed the rom back and magisk manager still crashes... what the hell?
Edit: Installed a logcat app to look at the logs when it crashes and here is the important part, I think:
E/AndroidRuntime(13780): Process: com.topjohnwu.magisk, PID:13780
E/AndroidRuntime(13780): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.topjohnwu.magisk/com.topjohnwu.magisk.SplashActivity}: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'android.content.res.Resources android.content.Context.getResources()' on a null object reference

Edit 2: Alright I've no idea what's wrong but v4.1 works fine, v4.2 crashes all the time even though it was working literally yesterday. Welp, whatever
Im on Resurrection Remix and when I install a Rom update, the managers "loses the root" too, I download the zip (and flash it) again and its a lucky strike if when the phone reboots, the magisk returns to normal and regain the root.

That does not sound like the issue in the OP...
After a ROM update you'll have to flash the Magisk zip again, since the ROM most likely also updates the boot image, thus removing the Magisk modifications (including MagiskSU).

So you are saying that I have to flash it in the same process, all together*, not flash, reboot and later flash the magisk zip?
*(Flash> mount rom zip+gapps+magisk)

You can boot up after updating, to make sure it's working and then flash Magisk. Doesn't really matter...
I usually flash the update, custom kernel and lastly Magisk zip, all in one go.

Oks. that´s is how I usually do it. I´m going to try again.
Guys, I´m sorry for the double post but I reinstaled it and nothing, the magisk managers says that the phone is not rooted.
***NEW: The problem is busybox. Uninstall it, reinstall magisk and problem solved.

Hi,
I'm running a HTC 10 with Lineage OS 15.1 (8.1.0). I came from Magisk 16 and an update message appeard. I downloaded Magisk 17 and tried to install it via TWRP as usual. The installation stopped with an Error 2. After that I had a boot loop and had to reinstall the Lineage OS. After that it booted again. But I still get this error message when trying to install Magisk 17.
Very odd. Besides of that, GREAT WORK!
Cheers

Magisk uninstaller will not works without custom recovery so i think my instruction is not applicable in this situation.

but now i can't install universal fix for safetynet check
I'm not sure if Magisk v.17.0 is fully backward compatible. Maybe this is preventing the module from installing?

ok so wait for new fix thanks
On my pixel 1 it claims to install, but causes a bootloop. AND updating to the most recent manager breaks using v16. So I'm stuck with an old manager and v16
Yes, the new manager seems to not fit to Magisk v16. In my case it also broke something so I updated to v17.

I'm able to do the steps without error. But then it is in bootloop. Using redmi note 4g (dior) Dot os

Magisk install on Pie

I have installed the latest pie stable on my op 3t. However it would never boot when installing with Magisk.
So for now I have installed it without Magisk and got it to work ok. However now I'm having same problem installing Magisk.
I can install and uninstall it from twrp latest, however when it's installed, it is just stuck on the initial screen with oneplus logo. And never makes it to the circle/dots screen.
I tried using 19. 2, 19.0 Magisk and 18.1.
Is there any logs I can pull or did anyone else have this issue?
Are there any other safe root solutions to try instead?
Any help would be appreciated

I always flash Magisk BEFORE the first boot. Also no custom kernels, especially not AFTER Magisk flash.
Is this what you did as well?
I couldn't get it to boot up before firstboot. So I went with normal nonroot flash so I could use the phone.
I figured it would not matter if I installed Magisk later.
I might try to reflash everything over again

Never had this problem until today. So I did some testing.
Magisk 19.1 causes it to get stuck at the OP logo.
I flashed uninstaller, reflashed the ROM, flashed Magisk 19.2 and it worked.
Are you using the 19.2 zip?

Yes, I had problems with 19.1 too, that the phone sometimes (if not always) would boot itself into fastboot mode instead of system, so at that time I moved temporarily to canary builds
I used this zip instead and it worked. Not sure what's different but I'm good now

Error while installing Magisk through Magisk manager

I'm trying to instal Magisk 19.3 through Magisk Manager Version: v7.3.4
and getting this error:
Device platform: arm64-v8a
Coping image to cache
unpacking boot image
!unsupported/unknown image format
!installation failed
Any ideas how to solve it?
I have used Stable Magisk Version: v19.3 (also tried Beta Magisk Version: v19.4)
Maybe something's wrong with the boot image? Try to re-download magisk stable zip and reintall it via TWRP.
@LogicalMaverick, tried to download it again from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 but still the same error message
I did try to install in TWRP mode and also from the Magisk Manager and still not working.
When I install in TWRP mode the result is the phone is getting into loop mode and the only way out if it is to uninstall it

Yeah, for me there are 2 ways:
1. Wipe data after flashing magisk before booting system
2. Complete phone setup first after installing new ROM, and then boot into recovery, then you're good to install magisk

I'm on stock ROM.
Was on MIUI 10.3.2 Now I'm on 10.4.8.
Tried to install Magisk on bot ROM through TWRP and didn't work.
Tried also through Magisk manager and didn't work
When I installed TWRP on my phone it asked if I want to give it permission to modify the system or to leave it read only mode.
I choose read only mode as I thought it will be easier to get OTA updates.
Maybe that's the reason Magisk cannot be installed correctly ?
TIA for your help
