Good Profile Manager - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I need a good profile manager. I have tried Profile Scheduler + and Llama. Both work OK, but I would like something that does a whitelist properly. So that if I set a silent profile certain numbers can ring through.
Anybody found something that does this?
I can't seem to get the whitelists to work on Notes for some reason.

Doesn't the built in "Do not disturb" function allow whitelists?
Other than that I have been using Trigger for years now and it never lets me down.

They have whitelists but they don't work on Notes IME.
I set the whitelist in Llama, and I basically just get a faint beep, not the person's ringcode. The beep is just kind of s blip-- single.

yeah I'm still looking myself

Silence everything except for Alarms

Is there any easy way to silence everything except for the Alarm function when I go to sleep each night? I want to have Notifications for emails and Calendar events audible during the day. But at night I want to have a silent phone with the exception of the Alarm Clock. Seems a simple ask but tricky to accomplish.
An easy way: Get pTravelAlarm
It overrides your soundsettings. Pretty darn handy !
Sounds good. Will check it out. However it is dissapointing that this capability is not in the phone without add on software.
I am somewhat surprised no one else seems interested in a "silence everything except for the Alarm" function! Seems to me a good way to have the phone set of a night time.

Because it would seems to be the logical mode to have your phone in at night if you need to use the Alarm and do not want to be disturbed by anything else. Not much point having a wakeup Alarm set in a device that pops and farts all night keeping you awake (emails/reminders etc)
Instead you can set the phone to silent mode to avoid the sleep interruptions and then the Alarm wont sound
well i get your point...i do the same with phone suite..in a different way to achieve the same result i guess
what i do is just set my alarm at lets say 7am...then select the silence profile to 6:59am...so at 6:59am it will change to the vibrate profile and then at 7 my alarm would vibrate...and any calls/text n such before 6:59am would just be under the silent profile
Yes, there is an easy way to do it. Use PhoneAlarm, it´s a kind of Swiss knife. For example you can create profiles like you might know it from Nokia phones. Your night profile may leave the alarm funktion working.

Will check it out as well. Like you say a timed profile would indeed do the trick. Still, I find it disappointing that this capability is not built into such an expensive phone and you have to pay extra for it.
There's an easier solution.
Try enAlarmPPC.
Just turn the sound off; alarm will still sound!

I do agree that it's an irritating omission from Windows Mobile, but it's not the only one. That's why places like xda-dev are so useful

If thats this PhoneAlarm Lite it is not free and costs €14.50 with a 30 day free trial. I do not want to have to pay that sort of money for single simple feature that should be in the bloody OS in the first place. I am sure PhoneAlarm is an excellent product but I have no use for all its other features. (Like buying a car to listen to the radio when I could have bought a radio). Wish there was just a registry key I could change that would force that Alarm to sound when the phone is set to its Silent profile. Even a tiny app that would achieve just this functionality and nothing else would be worth paying a couple of bucks for.

Disable vibrate when docked?

Is there a way to disable all vibrating while docked? Not just the alarms. I'm afraid the vibrating from texts and phone calls is gunna slowly tweak the pins or something over time.
Thanks for any help!
Try "Locale" or "Settings Profile" from the market.
Cheers
Thanks for the help.
I tried a couple different settings profile apps in the market, but none of them would auto disable anything when docked. I'm not sure about locale. I don't want to pay 10$+ plugin to see if it may work or not :/. Any other suggestions?

Facing the exact same issue. Any new apps available which will allow me to simply turn off vibrate when docked?
I have an Xperia Z and although Smart Connect allows change of profiles, it only has the three standard profiles, 'Normal', 'Vibrate' and 'Silent'. My phone is set on vibrate in the normal mode usually and I just need to shut it off while docked.

[Q] Remote GPS Activation / SMS GPS Enabler

Hi everyone,
Okay this might be a dumb question but I'm going to ask. Is there a way to remotely enable/activate the GPS and WiFi on my Android phone through a text message? I currently have GPS Tracker, Lost My Droid, Real Time GPS Tracker, Seek Droid, SMS GPS Enabler, and Where's My Droid installed on my phone to try and remotely turn on my GPS and WiFi. The problem is that yes sending the text to my phone and have the sound go off for Where's My Droid and Lost My Droid works, but the problem is having my GPS and WiFi turned off on my phone and not hearing because its not there. Yes, their are plenty of good apps that let you track your phone if your GPS is on, but they do not allow you to turn on GPS and WiFi through (SMS) text. So all and all, is there an app or apps that can do this for me, so I can do what I want to do?
Any information would be helpful, instructions would be better lol.
Thanks, II

I am the Dev of seek droid. Why leave the GPS disabled? It really does not conserve that much battery. Enabling the GPS does not leave the GPS turned on or even give the GPS any power unless the application you are using requests GPS.
Go pick up tasker from the market, and you can create a profile to have it enable gps whenever you get an sms.
You should probably have taker already anyways. It's a beast.

For some reason on my phone if I leave the GPS enabled it will drain out my battery in a few hours (8hrs). Where as if I turn GPS off, my battery has lasted up to almost 16hrs which is double and it is the only setting that I have changed.

Thanks for the advice pizz0wn3d. I will look into Tasker and see if it works for me and what I need it to do.
f you don't see the satellite dish in the notification bar then it really shouldn't use any battery, even if GPS is enabled. If you have location stuff turned on so the GPS is being used (i.e. you see the satellite dish in the notification bar) it will use battery.

Let me know and I can send you the profile I use. It makes the phone talk (alerting them that gps is being remotely enabled to track the phone down) and sends a confirmation text to the number that activates the gps. Then you can use "wheres my droid" or whatever else to track that S.O.B. down.

Bob, I do know this. For some reason my Map app starts up on its own and launches Latitude causing my GPS to activate and stay on. I don't want to uninstall Maps or Latitude because I do use them. Its easier to just turn off GPS then hassle with trying to find the source of the problem, in truth.

Well the way my profile is set up, whenever I receive a text with a certain phrase in it, it'll turn on the gps. Along with a few other things
It's not one of the advertised features because it's just one of the many things you can do with it.
I'll try to post a dropbox link in a few minutes.
Edit: This oughta work. Import this into tasker.

It should be able to import after you paste the xml file into:
/sdcard/tasker/profiles
Then just hit menu -> profile data -> import one profile

If you use Latitude, it will be on all the time and cause battery drain because it needs update your location 24/7 even if Gmaps is not used. You don't have to uninstall it. Just make sure you log out of Latitude if you don't use it.

Oh sorry, normally I do but I haven't been on xda outside of the app in a few days so I haven't been able to look at my messages.
There is a wiki on the app that has a bunch of different profiles you can try out, as well as a couple of tutorials to get the hang of making profiles.

Well for the lock screen; I was trying a remote lock down after I enabled the GPS tracking, so they could not turn it off, other then removing the battery of course. The only thing I can do right now is, set screen time out to 7sec. which is the smallest amount Tasker allows. The lock in Tasker is a joke because if you click on the notification bar at the top and select something you can bypass the lock, even in full screen mode.
As for the Ringtone/Ringer; I was trying to setup the phone to ring when people text me, similar to that of Where's My Droid, but with a twist. When I get their text, the assigned ringtone under their contacts or from file would play, that way I would know who it was without having to look at my phone every time. For this one in particular; do you or someone else know how Where's My Droids setup works? Then I can try to base it off of that. From what I can tell, it tricks the SMS into using the the ringer system and not the notification system. So a bait and switch from SMS Receiver to Cell Receiver. That's all I know for now.
Thanks for the link! I'll go through it to learn some more about Tasker.

I've never tried to set up a remote lock through tasker, I just had it set up to enable the GPS so I could lock+retrieve it via wheres my droid/lookout. But i have heard that the tasker lock down was pretty weak >.<
I actually never realized the phone didn't support custom tones for contacts outside of the calling ringtones. That actually sounds pretty difficult to implement via tasker. You would first have to disable notifications from your sms app so the tasker profile wouldn't just play a sound over that one. You'd also likely have to create a separate profile for each contact that you want to have a custom sms tone for.

[Q] Unlink Google Now voice volume

Hey guys--
I'm stumped on if this is possible, but I feel like my old Razr HD worked like this. If anyone has a way in the form of an app, Xposed module, etc, it'd be very appreciated.
Desired Behavior: Google Now should always speak to me, regardless of ringtone volume. She should be on her own separate volume control, or at least linked to media volume control.
Current Behavior: Google Now is linked to ringtone/notification/system volume. Since I almost always keep my phone on vibrate only, Google Now won't talk to me. Considering the point of touchless control, this is absolutely infuriating. I feel like I shouldn't have to be "that guy" that has his phone on full volume just to hear the Now voice.
There must be a better way! Who can help me out? Thanks!
I'm with you on this one, I keep my phone on silent all the time so I'd like that as well.
I've sent an email to Google, hopefully they will update that

I'm pretty interested in seeing this done too. I haven't received my phone yet, I generally keep my phone on silent or vibrate while at work, and I know I will want to talk to Google - and hear Google's responses when my phone is in that mode.
I sent google an email as well. Hopefully something comes of it.
Agreed! Would love to see this too!
I've looked, but couldn't find, any kind of feature request page for google? Anyone know if there is one?
I am with you guys! Saw this thread and I had not notcied this before since I have it on full volume as of now.
Maybe use something like tasker to set the ringtone to a certain level when google opens?
I experienced a mute Google Now last night and was stumped. Now I see this thread and it all makes sense.
There is an Xposed module that unlinks the notification and ringtone volumes (link). I'm not rooted yet but someone could test which volume Google Now reacts to, so a least part of the problem gets fixed. And maybe ask the developer make an update that addresses that. Tasker is also a good idea, but more cumbersome. Could be a plan B.
I'll throw in 15$ to the bounty
Well I got it to work with Tasker.
---------------------------------
Event: Variable Set %WIN
Task:
Ringer Volume: Level 6, If %WIN=Google
Ringer Volume: Level 6, If %WIN=Voice Search
---------------------------------
I put two ringer volume task because for some reason, when I open voice search it'll be identified as "Google" and vise versa.
Note: I used the Event as the First Context because for some reason I couldn't get the Application Context to work with Google and Voice Search.
I hope that helps some of you. Let me know if you have any questions.

My original tasker will not revert to the original ringer volume.
Also, I'm pretty sure this particular task does not need root access.
New code with Ringer Volume being set back to original:
---------------------------------
Event: Variable Set %WIN
Task Gnow:
If %WIN ~ (matches) Google
Variable Set: Name: %PREVOLR to %VOLR
Ringer Volume: Level 6
Wait: 10 minutes, Until %WIN !~ Google
Ringer Volume: %PREVOLR
Task Gvoice:
If %WIN ~ (matches) Voice Search
Variable Set: Name: %PREVOLR to %VOLR
Ringer Volume: Level 6
Wait: 10 minutes, Until %WIN !~ Voice Search
Ringer Volume: %PREVOLR
---------------------------------
**Note
Event contexts do not have exit tasks, so just add the Gnow task and then Gvoice task to the Event.
Normally the Ringer Volume Action will only display a slid-able bar to change the Ringer Volume.
Go into Tasker > Preferences
Make sure beginner mode is off
Go back into the Ringer Volume Action settings, and press and hold the "Shuffle" icon and then release after a bit.
This will change the slidable bar to a blank field.
Edit: fixedd!
Hope that works out better for you guys

[GUIDE][Intermediate] CHANGE MUSIC BY WAVING: Previous & Next song!

REQUIREMENTS?
TASKER
PHONE WITH PROXIMITY SENSOR
NO ROOT REQUIRED
COMMON SENSE
WHAT Does this do?
This will basically change your music tracks (previous and next) by waving your hand
HOW does it do it?
You hand activates the Proximity sensor (be sure to locate yours before trying this lol) Then it goes into the details by detecting if your hand is still hanging in there, if your hand is not there, it will change to the next track, if your hand is still holding up, it will Rewind the song, do it again and it will change to the previous song.
WHEN do you want to use this?
On Car, You are driving, want to change tracks while driving? well just wave your hand instead of even looking at your phone. (ok you look a bit but you get the idea) No more accidents, looks cool when you do it in front of your newbie friends, yeah go ahead and tell them to do it with their iPhones XD Just remember to paste your phone into a place you can reach or use one of those universal phone holders.
On some desktop for whatever reason you dont have a computer or cant play songs on your pc? Activate this with Bluetooth see magic with a wave of your hands
You want to see the magic and how futuristic it is when you wave and the machine speaks back to you
OK, Lets get Started
Create a Profile, (name it to Prox=1) Select State, Select Proximity Sensor
Task>Variable Set>Name: %Prox to covered
Create Another Profile, (name it to Prox=0)Select State, Select Proximity Sensor But This Time Check on Invert
Task>Variable>Set>Name: %Prox to uncovered
Create Another Profile(name it to Prev and Next), Select State, Select Proximity Sensor
wait (515MS) <---This is an Important Factor on this project, this determines how long your hand should stay in the proximity sensor, the shorter the wait, the faster it will trigger, change as required.
if %Prox ~ uncovered & %SCREEN ~ off
Say: "Next" (Customize the way you like it or just leave it as if)
Media Control Next on App Poweamp (The App "Poweramp" can be changed to the Music App you are using)
Else If %Prox ~ covered & %SCREEN ~ off
Say "Back" (Again, You can customize the voice etc. or.. just dont)
Media Control Previous App Poweramp ( Again, you choose the Music App or else it wont work)
End If
Now you will need to create a Task, Name it to Track Changer Yes.
The Task should contain
Profile Status>name Prox=1 Set On
Profile Status>name Prox=0 Set On
Profile Status>name Prev and Next Set On
Set Tasker Pref>Proximity Sensor Value Yes
What the Above does is to just Activate your Profiles, so that it just works.
If you want to Deactivate those Profiles do another Task, Name the Task to Track Changer No.
The Task should contain
Profile Status>name Prox=1 Set Off
Profile Status>name Prox=0 Set Off
Profile Status>name Prev and Next Set Off
Set Tasker Pref>Proximity Sensor Value when Power Connected
This will deactivate the task and you are back to 0

BTW: To Make this work you need to activate all 3 Profiles, Prox=0, Prox=1 and Prev Next. The Task "Track Changer Yes" will Activate it for you, useful if you activate this task via Bluetooth, Heaphones, etc. You can make a Scene pop when you connect headphones, etc your ideas are your limitation.
If you struggle in some place, look at the tasks and see if any of them has a triangle error in there. Make sure you change the music app on all 2 action tasks! (previous, next)

Make sure on the Ifs tasks you have %SCREEN ~ off it means this can only work if your screen is off :3 (forgot to put % before SCREEN)
Followed the steps, everything works perfectly, thank you very much

Glad it worked for you
That's pretty frikkin' cool!
Tried it and it works like a champ. It's like having the Force... This is not the song I'm looking for!
I have an OBDII device in my car connected to bluetooth. How do I use this feature only when I'm connected to the OBDII device?

Well, If it uses Bluetooth, just use tasker to create a profile state on Bluetooth, select the current Bluetooth device. Then for the task of the profile link it to the the task (Track Changer Yes) that activates the 3 profiles, Prox 1, prox 0 and prev and next. As simple as that I recommend you set the exit profile to Track Changer No, So your music does not changes in your pocket or outside of Bluetooth.
**Remember that I set it to only work on screen off so it is not activated accidentally**
im not able to activate all profiles at once
either prox=0 is active or the other two

Before trying this you need to know the basics of using Tasker, the switcher needs to be "ON" on all 3 profiles.
If by Active you mean the green color, it changes from Prox 0 to Prox 1 depending on your proximity sensor. That is supposed to happen.
To try this, just switch all 3 profiles to ON and turn off your screen have music playing, and move your hand to the proximity sensor.

It should work on all roms, please check the requirements.
check if Prox 1 and 0 turns to green and grey, if it does, it should work, if it doesnt, you have something wrong on your side.
I am having a bit of trouble with this one to. I believe I have it set up right, but I am unable to change music with it. When I have tasker open and put my hand over the proximity sensor "Prox=1" and "Prev and Next" light up green, and when I remove it "Prox=0" lights up green, so that seems right but I still cant change music with it. Any ideas? Thanks
Edit: alright it is working for music now, I actually didn't need to change anything, it just started working lol. I just need some help understanding the tasks to turn it on and off. I don't have anything specific that I'm always doing (like Bluetooth etc) when listening to music to tie it to, I just want it so when I use my music player it turns on and when I'm not using it it turns off. Thoughts?
Works like a charm. Thanks!
can anyone upload the profile for this?
I am using PureNexus on my N6P and the next function works like a charm, but I cannot figure out how to get the previous function to work.

I am not very active here so if you need more help, it would take a while to find me. just tweak the task a bit and get to know how it works.

fanchai,
I know you're not on that often but....I had this working perfectly on my LG-G4.
However, I upgraded to a new phone and didn't have the profiles/tasks saved so I started over from square-one. I can't for the life of me get it working. I've re-traced my steps, followed along with the photo's you posted but can't get it working.
Can I upload my profile to you so that you can tell me what I'm missing?
