Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Firmware? Is it a full ROM or OTA package?
Firmware is not a ROM nor OTA Package, it's a set of low-level drivers which helps the operating system do whatever it wants to do. It includes various things like Modem, Bluetooth, Bootloader, DSP and etc.
Why should I update the Firmware?
Firmware is provided from Xiaomi directly, and there are no sources for it to let developers build and edit it on their own like custom ROMs, so if you want to keep your device up to date always update your firmware!
Do I need updating the Firmware If I'm MIUI official or custom ROM user?
No, MIUI ROMs contain the firmware-update package which I extract and provide here.
What are the supported devices?
All Snapdragon and MTK devices including China-only devices.
Check the full devices list here
How to update firmware?
1- Download the package you want to flash. IT MUST BE NAMED WITH THE SAME CODENAME OF YOUR DEVICE.
2- Flash it using TWRP or any custom recovery. There's no need to wipe/format anything before or after the installation.
How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.

wow nice, this should come in very handy will include this in my index thread!

I am on the latest LOS. I flashed "fw_miui_MIMAX2Global_8.1.25_1d227c3cc4_7.1.zip" and the fingerprint scanner was not working anymore. Following that, I flashed "fw_miui_MIMAX2Global_V9.0.3.0.NDDMIEI_698876cd63_7.1.zip", but it didn't change anything.
Any clues, besides flashing back to stock and LOS again?

Got it fixed, clean reflashed LOS.

I made a complete backup from my LOS installation without working fingerprint scanner in TWRP. Then I wiped everything and installed the latest xiaomi.eu ROM, fingerprint was working there. Then I wiped again and did a clean install of LOS, again fingerprint scanner was working. I then just restored data from the previous backup, now fingerprint scanner is working again, without setting up everything from scratch.

Now seriously, @rajeesh2003, you are welcome to the XDA Forums, but have to be more careful with your posts. It seems your English still needs practice. Google Translate is your friend. LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.
Instructions:
Download the latest build, official TWRP (3.3.0 and newer) and GApps (if you need them)
Boot the downloaded TWRP via fastboot
Flash the latest build
Reboot to bootloader and boot TWRP once again
Flash GApps and any other necessary add-ons
Migration instructions

If you are in Oreo now and have never updated to official Pie, follow the instructions on this thread to make a backup of your partitions
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-low-level-backup-restore-unbrick-t3790307
You can exclude System and Data.
If you want to go back just restore the backup and flash any Oreo rom (or restore your TWRP backup if you have one)
Anyone having occasional issues with SIM card not been detected after reboot? There is no dialog to enter the pin. Strange thing this happens every second or third reboot otherwise its fine. I'm on PIE fw

[Firmware] Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 [lavender] [Auto updated daily!]

All Xiaomi users suffer from a single problem, Firmware update. As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release. And also developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes, so releases are provided later. Here is my simple solution:
Xiaomi Firmware Updater (Redmi Note 7)

A set of various script that automatically generates Xiaomi firmware flashable zip files every MIUI new update!
My scripts download MIUI official ROMs, both Developer and Stable, Global and China, extracts the firmware-update folder, generates firmware flashable zip with auto-written "updater-script", and uploads them automatically to many servers.
The scripts are completely automated, running on a Linux server every six hours.
Note:
Names will be in the following manner:
fw_lavender_miui_LAVENDERGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Global firmware
fw_lavender_miui_LAVENDERINGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 India firmware
fw_lavender_miui_LAVENDER_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 China firmware
DownloadsYou can get updates always from various mirrors avaliable on the website:
Stable ROMs Firmware
Developer ROMs Firmware
Older files are available here.
All Snapdragon devices including China-only devices.
Check the full devices list here!
Why there are no MTK devices?
Because it doesn't have firmware-update package
How to update the firmware?
1- Download the package you want to flash. IT MUST BE NAMED WITH THE SAME CODENAME OF YOUR DEVICE.
2- Flash it using TWRP or any custom recovery. There's no need to wipe/format anything before or after the installation.
How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.

I will wait for Global beta to install?
If you want to flash devoloper roms, you need bootloader unlock. Without unlock only stable oem roms can be flashed.

On my Redmi S2, I am from Stable flash Beta rom via updater in recovery, and I dont have unlocked bootloader.
The same thing I will do when we geta Global beta rom.
Install it through updater via recovery without unlocking bootloader.
But if I want to go back from beta to stable, then I need unlocked bootloader and Mi flash tools..to flash it through fastboot.
Im using EU Rom.
Can I flash this firmware and what firmware I should flash between Stable ROMs Firmware or Developer ROMs Firmware ?

Introduction:
This is the Official Lineage OS 17.1 thread for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, codename starlte, star2lte.
Join our Lineage Exynos 9810 Development Telegram Group!
How to Install:
Please follow the instructions on our Official LineageOS Wiki page here.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE INSTALLING LINEAGE OVER FULLY STOCK ANDROID 10 FIRMWARE
If you don't follow these instructions, please don't expect support here. We also don't support 3rd party addons (Magisk/XPosed/Dolby/Viper/etc.), so please don't seek support if you use these.
What's not working:
Applicable exceptions granted in device support requirements.
Obviously Samsung's own features such as Samsung Pay, KNOX, Theme Center, Game Launcher, etc. won't be ported to LineageOS. We may have our own implementation to similar functions, though.
Iris sensor does not work because AOSP upstream does not support that yet.
IMS services (VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc). Samsung has their own proprietary implementation. It is not really possible to easily port that to LineageOS.
Notes:
Official Lineage OS builds will not pass CTS/SafetyNet -- due to the AVB flag's "red" status.
Official Lineage OS builds requires official stock unmodded android 10 firmware installed.
Official Lineage OS builds uses stock android 10 vendor so encryption is enabled by default.

Can I use TWRP instead of LinegeOS recovery to install official LOS 17.1? And modified Rob's vendor DTC5 to avoid force-encryption?

Thank you for your work. A few question:
First: Is it still necessaryto wait with the install for 7 days after activation like it was in the past with lineageos 15.1?
Second: How is battery life?
thrid: what about the camera functioning? and is there a gCam alternative in case of problems?

Both are not recommended by official LOS, but yes you can. I dirty flashed an official nightly on top of Rob's 13-4 build and his modified DTC5 vendor and everything (still) works as before.
Thank you very much for this rom! Great to see it has reached an official status.
I have a question about the forced encryption:
From what I understand TWRP is not (yet) able to decrypt the data partition, making it impossible to back-up and restore the data partition. Is this correct? And if so, does the lineage recovery support backup of encrypted data?
Where do I can stock vendor other than flashing stock ROM with Odin?

Thanks for the new ROM, really looking forward to getting the official 17.1 on my S9, replacing the current 15.1 official LOS.
Instructions and pre-requisites need more detail though. What specifically is meant by "stock Android 10 firmware"? Bootloader, vendor, anything else? And where can we find reliable sources for stock firmware for specific phone models e.g. SM-G960F? Any chance of creating an archive of these linked to from the first post, so people have reliable sources for these mandatory requirements?
Thanks again.

Do you plan making a fresh install or over the 15.1?
Check the thread of unofficial lineage, there are the links to the vendor and bootloader images
I have successfully upgraded from 20200416 to the latest 20200417 build.[emoji41][emoji106]
However, I had to flash the update manually, by downloading the file and rebooting into recovery. Doing this from the OTA updater didn't work: after the update file had been downloaded and pressing the install button I got an installation error message after 1 second (before the phone would reboot to recovery).
I'm using TWRP 3.2.3. Is OTA supposed to work with it, or does the OTA updater only likes the Lineage Recovery? [emoji848]

I'm in the exact situation, had to manually install OTA update from /data/lineageos_updates (had to search on Google where the LineageOS updates are stored).
Thanks for the official build!
