Axon M at&t in europe - ZTE Axon M Questions & Answers

Hi all. I won an ebay bid for this phone. I'm waiting for it in Italy. I read it's easy to unlock it paying 20$ online but I had a bad news when I read frequencies about gsm/umts/lte. It seem to work just in Usa/Canada...please tell me I'm wrong :crying:

The American version can not be used in Europe. I think you're missing pretty much all frequencies so even if you would be able to use it the connectivity would be poor
Might be better to cancel it and get it from China, that model has most frequencies that are also used in Europe

Thanks for the answer but I already have it in my hands... It arrived today from a bid I won on ebay for just 460€(about 550$ custom's taxes included). It was a good deal but I didn't mantion about bands limitations(to unlock it's just 19$).
In the worst case I resell it on Amarican's ebay

Hi
I have same problem ?
can we change the frequencies to work in any country??
Please we need help

I got one myself in Saudia anf did the unlocking, I was bumped to find that it didn't read any signal. I'm reviewing the frequncies bit it seems you are right.
Any confirmation / solution?

No solutions. I just sold it as it was. Luckly I recovered 400 euros vs 470 I paid for it

Oh fudge, wish I'd seen this thread because I just won and paid for an eBay Axon M from the US.
If it can't work as a cellular phone in the UK... it'll end up never getting used... What a waste

Import Samsung Focus S to Europe

Does someone know a online shop which will ship the Samsung Focus S to Europe??
Expansys would, they have a store for most countries. Though they are more expensive.
You can try eBay or MobileCityOnline, if they ever get stock.
I ordered mine on eBay.
would the samsung focus s work in the UK? Does automatically become unlocked?

It would not automatically become unlocked. You would need to purchase an unlock code. I trust: samsungimeiunlock.com or cellunlocker.net
Both cost around $30 USD currently.
The Focus S would work on 2G/EDGE networks after unlock as well as 3G 850/1900/2100 bands. 850/1900 are not very popular outside of N. America.
2100 is quite prevalent in many European countries. You can find a list here: http://worldtimezone.net/gsm.html
If it says 2100MHz under 3G on the same line, you might be in luck.
does anyone know if this phone would work in austria at t-mobile? how about import taxes? would i have to pay some?
thx, sam

It will work on Austrians 3G networks without problems...
Import taxes are usually around 20% in Austria from Item+Shipping that would be around 130$ (~100€)for a focus if you pay 650$
If your lucky the customs won't check your package, than you get away without customs duty
Cheapest Unlock I've found
Bought mine on eBay for $430+$10 shipping.
On cellunlock(dot)net with "android50" coupon code it costs 19.99 CAD (Canadian $), where as the normal price is CAD 39.99.

Hi guys! I am coming from a Galaxy S and going to switch to WP. Since I live in Chile I have to import the Focus S, so I have an important but noob question on unlocking.
When I bought my SGS it was already unlocked so I just had to insert my local sim, start rooting and flashing. But now I'm going to buy a AT&T Focus S, so I don't really know if I need an AT&T sim card in order to sim-unlock it from pages like prounlocking or similar and/or using any sort of app or flash-like procedure.
thanks in advance! it would be really hepful for me!

thanks! But I was planning to buy it locked and unlocking it myself so could save a few bucks (actually, like 150 USD)

You don't need at&t sim card, just insert your own, it will ask for unlock code, you dial it, it unlocks and that's it
I bought a Focus S AT&T locked of E-Bay, and had it shipped here to the Netherlands.
It was locked, and purchased an unlock code from:
http://www.samsungimeiunlock.com/samsung-focus-s-unlock
Working fine, unlock was delivered within 15 minutes.
I made the same that Demian_ii but I order to send to Spain
Imported it into the UK as an unlocked phone and just updated the software to 8107(?). It runs absolutely fine on T-Mobile in the UK. Good data speeds when out and about. I would like to enable wireless tethering/hotspotting if possible. Still looking into it.
I'm pretty happy with it, but not sure I'm that happy with the Gmail integration or Facebook integration (I guess this is now more about WP7 than the Focus S).
I might consider selling it on, I'm still giving it a chance, but I'm missing a lot of the functionality that Android finally got which WP7 is sadly lacking

[Q] Galaxy Note from China, can I buy it ?????

Hello every one
I am a french citizen living in China for one year
I am dreaming to buy a Galaxy Note, but I can buy it only in China, is someone can tell me if it will work properly when I will come back to France ?
If not is there a possibility to change the system at this moment?
Sorry but I am a novice in this matter
Thank you in advance for your help
Yes as long as you buy the GSM version. Not sure if there is some CDMA weird version for the Chinese market.
Agreed, look for the GSM bandwidths, I think the EU's on 900 and 1800.

Thank you very much for your help. i have a similar question
where are you folks planning to buy?
hey, I'm an American in Shanghai - I've been planning on buying one as well, but it seems the only choices are
a) buy a "brand-new" model, grey-market European version, 50% chance it's a refurb, but can offer local store warranty for ~3280rmb ($520 USD), or
b) buy an official, brand-new one for 4100rmb ($650 USD)
I almost pulled the trigger on the grey-market one, but it just kills me to know that I can get a brand-new NON-refurb for $500 USD through Newegg in the US... arrgh.

I bought mine on taobao from Shenzhen, 1 day shipping. I think that is safer than buyer from a store in shanghai, as the taobao sellers are selling loads of these phones.
Mine had been opened and made chinese even it is a european version. they changed some settings so you'll default to chinese language after a wipe/upgrade, and the samsung keyboard didn't work when I first good it. But after reinstalling european firmware everything is good.
I would stay away from official version because of price and I'm also not sure if all google services work on those.

yeah - the quote I had for ~3300 was from a taobao seller with a brick 'n mortar store. At least there's somewhere to go if the thing is borked. The "warranty" is through the store and not samsung, but at least they know where (taobao!) to source screens/mobo and claim to give 2 years replacement service should anything go wrong. still might pull the trigger on it... unless one of my friends goes back to the states in the next couple of weeks.
Did your seller offer any kind of warranty?

Biggest difference is the network bands that are being used.
The 03 seems to be for EU/America's and the 33 seems to be for Asia.
Don't quote me on it tho.

Yup, I would have bought one in a heartbeat. Doesn't seem that dual sim is that popular in the US, but I'd use it to keep work and personal line on the same phone.

It's not that it won't work
It's just that some Asian bands aren't supported by the 03 version.

Hello, so I'm interested in buying the Z3C from Clove, the D5803 model and I"m from India.
I've read that the only problem will be that I won't be able to use 4G.
So otherwise everything will work on Indian networks? Internet, calling, 3G??
Thanks for your help!
http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/Xperia_Z3_Compact_D5803_D5833_WP_1.pdf
Apparently the difference is in the 3g and 4g Bands.
Also the D5833 is the only one to have TD-LTE which is popular in Asia (According to wikipedia) So i'm guessing 5833 is the asian model and the other is the "rest of the world" model.

Thanks. Yeah, I read something about that.
I'm just wondering if I can use that model in Asia. Cause that's the only model available in Clove and that site has lowest price by far compared to any other online store. So I was just wondering if I could use the D5833 model in Asia.

If you are buying fro Clove because of the price difference please be aware that in most likelihood you will have to pay customs duty which will pretty much match up the price you will pay for it in India. I bought the D5833 model with the Indian LTE band from USA. My friend bought it for me and is now in Kerala. Waiting for him to courier it to me.

Alright, thanks for the warning. Although I checked using the duty calculator they provide and it says I have to pay around 4,000 to customs. That still makes it a lot lower than the Indian retail price. Although I'm not 100% sure it's accurate

I agree. However, given that the phone is already selling in india at a much higher rate and if the customs guys have any idea about its selling price in India, I would think that they would tax it to equate your invoice with the selling price in India. I'm not certain on this though. But there is indeed a chance. This is not discourage you. The phone is now available from ebay.in for 39990 with full sony india warranty.

True. I'll probably wait a few more months for the price to drop.
I'll make sure before buying the phone from Clove to see how much the customs will cost. Thanks

[Q] Convert US to Global version?

Hi guys,
I am from Europe and lost my Smartphone on a holiday in the US. So I went to bestbuy and bought a Moto G 2nd unlocked. I told the lady I am from Europe and need it to work in Europe. Nevertheless now back at home i found out she sold me the US version instead of the Global one and i get no 3g connection here in Austria. (yeah they had both versions at stock for the same price, but now its to late)
So is there any possibility i can get my XT1064 (US version) to XT1063 (Global) by flashing ROMs or anything else? Or are the phones different in terms of hardware and I have now a nearly useless phone here in Austria while being without wifi coverage?
Thanks for any information
Daniel
I'm curious about this also as I'm planning on traveling in EU. From what I've gathered it would be a no on 3G.I would guess it is going to be a hardware problem since the US version does not feature 2100 MHz data.

Yeah thats the exact problem. I do not get a 3G signal cause the US version misses the 2100 MHz band, so in Europe you just are able to use EDGE as a maximum with the US version
I'm guessing that it's only returnable in store if returnable at all. If it's that new you could go the Ebay route and offer a good discount. It may sell fairly quickly, especially with the prices some of those sellers ask.

Sending stuff from Europe to the US is a pain *****, since US authorities check everything. So yeah, i just have to stick with i wasted 190 bucks on a wifi internet only phone
That's probably why it took a month to get a pineapple corer I ordered. It sat in NY for 3 weeks. You can never be too careful with those pineapple corers.

Question How to import Snapdragon Version to EU?

I'm planning to buy the SD 888 version but unfortunately it's not sold in europe.
I've heard of many people who import the phone from HK, China or US. But I can't find the right websites.
Can anyone help me with that? Maybe a tip for cheap sites or something would be so nice
If you know someone in the US or HK?
Wondamobile.com had the China Snapdragon model in stock last time I checked.
Wondamobile.com got mine there im from sweden.
Thanks guys! I thought maybe someone lives in US and could tell me a few of their shop names
Wondamobile is very expensive...so sad.
Got mine from eglobalcentraleu.com, but also checked Wondamobile and tradingshenzhen.com before taking the plunge.

Are you joking now? WondaMobile prices are less than what you have in your country of living! Also, the version you should go for is Hong Kong or Taiwan! The chinese one has no Google services for you.
If you don't like to deal with Wonda .. check out https://eu.etoren.com/
But i recommend Wonda because they have better service.
Another thing, why you are looking for Snapdragon variant? I had that (bought from Wonda) for about 3 months but i sold it and got the Exynos that is sold in Europe, i find the battery life a little better with Exynos than Snapdragon. The performance is the same, i felt that Exynos has more power sometimes than Snapdragon.
Don't forget that you get only 1 year warranty (it's not valid within Europe) when you buy any Snapdragon version, you need to return the phone to the store you bought it from and they fix it by themselves which means they don't send it further to Samsung workshop ... you have to pay for the shipment almost 50 USD... But with Exynos, you have 2 years warranty within EU and you don't need to ship it anywhere, just look for Samsung Workshop that is close to you and drop it off there.
A last thing also, you have to accept that some features may not work well if you import your phone from these asian countries or even from America. The same with the 3G/4G/5G networks, especially 5G, it is not supporting more than one band in Europe, so you will have to live with that if you want to go for Snapdragon variant.
