Cannot get chained commands to work by speech or in shortcuts - Google Home

I noticed that chained commands are meant to be working, but I can't get then to.
I want to use the following.
Turn off the front room lights
Watch a movie
They each work individually by speech or in a short cut, but I cannot chain then. My mini just says it can't understand me.
I'm in the UK so not sure if it's available here yet. Anyone in the UK had any luck?
My firmware is 106111
Sent from my P027 using Tapatalk

I've mine set to us and I can say stuff like "turn off the living room lights and turn on the bedroom lights", does that work for you?

Hi, not sure if I got an update but it's working now, it's just a shame you can't chain a shortcut in there.

Anyone ever consider using their phone as a garage door opener?

Well the title pretty much says it all...
I was just wondering if there was any way this was possible...
I mean after all, it cant be that difficult of a program to work.
if you can find a door opener that works via bluetooth then sure! why not?

or through home wifi net. Probably you'll be able to use one of pc remote programs.
but there is other way how this could be done. with any phone, just ringing number. there is a device, based on simtoolkit which you should place in any old cheap mobil with simtoolkit (nearly any) with prepaid sim card just for receiving. it's connected through sim reader connector. device is configurable, you can have more outputs. you can set it to open when number is ringed from predefined numbers. e.g. just one ring, without answering.
you can have sms's being send from home as alarm triggers.
i wanted to use this in car. to open car, as car alarm, i think it also can send cell id as sms. it was intended for this purpose. also has acceleration sensors in it.

I only looked at this thread coz i thought it was some kind of joke lol. Kaiser doesnt have an infra red port so unless you have a garage door opener that works on either bluetooth or wifi i very much doubt anything can be done.
One of these hooked to a momentary relay would do it. Attach the relay to the door opener button. You could also turn on the lights, unlock the doors, pretty much any thing you wanted.
Just do a search for the garagedooropener.cab file somewhere here.
There is also a boilwaterwhileyouconvertvideos.cab, and
swatfliesinthekitchen.cab, and
smokingcigar.cab, and my all-time favourite, the backmassager.cab
Hope this helps
OMG It works! Don't need to install anything!
Step one: Hold Tilt in the middle, with the top facing upwards. Very important!
Step two: Push the top of the tilt into your Garage Door opener button.
Step three: PROFIT!
Yes, it's possible... Currently, I'm working an a project for opening doors via bluetooth. I use the hardware of a bt headset to trigger a relay that opens the door. It's already working, but I haven't had the time to build it into my backdoor... I have tested it with my Qtek 9000, working flawless. And tested the security also: other phones can't connect to the lock, without having the proper code.
And remember: there has to be a *mechanical* backup solution also, in case of electricity failure...

OMG HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Garade door openers operate on the 390 megahertz band. Unless the magical radio fary jumped in our devices the phone's cannot/will not operate on that band. The only thing that is allowed on that bandwith (according to the F.C.C.) is Military Freq's and, (you guessed it) Garage Door Openers.

Being as garage door openers are RF and you have nothing in the phone to xmit on those frequencies it should be easy right?
hahaha there was already a thread about this like a few months back but yeah that would be sick using the blue tooth for a garage opener. i would also like to see my tilt transform in to a 8in tall robot with laser and rocket boosters to if anyone nows how pm me lol
The problems I see are range, and delay. Are you going to drag your phone out, wait for it to pair, then open the door while you are parked right in front of the garage? Most decent cars have homelink or you can just use your stock remote. I use a 2 channel EMX receiver that is inside my gate post with a high gain antenna for over 1000 foot range and a wire running to the garage for the garage door. When I round the corner to come down my street I hit one homelink button for the gate then immediately the button for my garage, and the gate is open by the time I get there. No waiting, no fumbling, easy as can be. Convenience drives innovation, making something more difficult to do just because it's one less device isn't really the best bet.
A friend of mine has a home automation system installed. He can control anything in the house from a website, which also has a pda companion application. He can turn on/off/dimm any light in the house, control the a/c temp, unlock/lock front and rear door, fans, blinds, and... you guessed it garage door!
I forgot how much he paid for it but its a new home and had it installed during construction. So i guess check out the first link and do some research on home automation systems. You can do it so you can only control one aspect, dont have to network the entire house.
Ok, there are a lot of people making fun of the question he made, but it is not that stupid.
No, not all "door openers operate on the 390 megahertz band", there are a lot of other frequencies available (I've seen 27MHz and 2,4G for example), in this case we have specifically one, 2,4GHz in bluetooth and WiFi. Given the low power of the bluetooth radio in our PDA, it has a low range but can be used as the user Tacoboy said. For the specific application of a garage door I would suggest WiFi, given the wider coverage of those devices.
It is not that slow, you can connect you PDA to a access point pretty quick...
Actually I am thinkig of doing something similar in free time. I've found this thread because I was wondering if someone had already done this and supplied the source codes, making it more easier .
I am plannig on doing a main application to be used on a old computer that will be used as the "central" for the automation system, who will receive instructions over the network for several tasks, for example open the garage door... This can be accomplished using webservices or something similar.
You can argue that just using the stock remote is much faster, and it is, but the standard remote cannot connect to the internet and open you garage door remotely in case someone is at your door and you are stuck in traffic, for example
works!!!
Try the X10 module

It is definitely something that can be done, but how much are you willing to pay to do it.....I'm not talking about on the radio band cause that one is not really possible....reasons stated above......but with remote management via internet and automation/plc control computer to plc to electric relays....yeah it is very plausible. There are field irrigation systems that work on the sim card recieve only system. You call them up on your cell and turn them on, set how long they are to be on for and all sorts of other neat stuff. Just don't really see the cost effectiveness as a new garage door opener runs 20$. these are at least in the hundreds to thousands range no matter which way you go. If someone is there in your driveway and needing the door opened hope you installed one of the touchpads that you can give him a temp password to...also just thinking $$$

Getting SprintTV to work on Wifi

Hey all,
I am by no means a dev, but I have had some interesting revelations on the Sprint TV app. I've been messing with the apk and found I can run the app if I delete the check_wifi.lua file. If I try to edit it, it will crash. I tried changing the ip address it checks for wifi, but it won't install if I do that.
I think it'd be an easy thing to do, but I know very little about all this. Any thoughts?

All I did was open it in notepad and changed the last number in the ip address to a 0 so that it would fail to see wifi is on. Since I honestly don't know what signing it is, perhaps this is best left out of my hands.
I got it to work by switching back and forth between it and other apps. Now it has been working every time i launch it.

i read somewhere that you needed to get the TV widget on your screen also
even with that i couldnt get it to work ... so after several frustrating reboots
I FINALLY GOT A LISTING!!
at first, it was telling me that i needed to subscribe to every damn channel i tried to watch
but when i went to the subscriptions menu, i saw that i was already subscribed to everything
some more reboots later everything loaded and i could watch channels
now the whole Wifi thing could probably get fixed by some baksmali/smali edits ... im still trying to get a grasp on how to do this so cant help with that yet :\
My tv app works over 3g now.
My tv started working once i hit 3g in my area no reboot
mines working also
mine just started worrking all of sudden too ! so I installed on my wifes mt3g also worked after a while by itself ?! I had widget on at that time anyways if you dont get it to work try again its really well worth it !

AH GRR! that is lame.. ya are so lucky!
Ive been able to stream over Edge. I dont have 3g in my area yet. I also had issues at first with anything loading but after waiting like everyone else i got listings and eventually i was able to watch the office on edge. Def not worth the wait but progress.

hi, i cant find this in the market place, searched for google maps, anywhere else i can download it from?
You can't find gogole maps in the market? its like their flagship app....
You need android 1.6 or higher to use nav but even if your still on 1.5 you should have the maps app.
so i take it wont work on modace 3.2 ? I have google maps, its the navigation I was after

any recommendations?

You are downloading google maps its built into that
ok, i am sorry if I am being a pain, but i just can not seem to get the 'TomTom' type of view navigation in Google Maps.... how do you activate it ?????
press menu, then get directions, put in your start and end points, select the car icon, then navigate from the next screen(it displays the map they same way brut did with nav launcher). yay!
On villain 5.2 rom and it runs sweetly but 1 issue is the long time recalculating route, i deliberatly drove the long way home, and it took about 1/2 mile to recalculate route, it needs to be a bit quicker imho

I suspect you will find this is because it is an online navigation solution. Routing occurs on Googles servers and is downloaded to the phone along with the appropriate maps, so it is going to be affected by all sorts of factors, including network coverage.
Regards,
Dave
is there a way in which this can be edited to work with say a music app or something, i was driving to college, i had my car stereo on, and also had the satnav on my phone going, but its hard to hear both at once, so is it possible to have as a normal incar built satnav would, music, then it would dim the music so you can hear the directions and then carry on playing because i thought id hook up the AUX cable into the stereo for the journey home and i gotta say it was so boring
Just gone for a drive tonight to test this out. About 20 miles in total and its not bad. Certainly so considering its free. Re-routed me reasonably quickly when i deliberately went off route. Only criticism i have is the voice. You cant really rely on understanding the spoken road names as the american voice mis pronounces most of them. Also a personal gripe is it calling roundabouts a traffic circle.
I wont be using it to replace my sygic mobile maps 9 on my hero but its a good back up to have. Will probably be better for walking.

Waze Beta Feedback/Discussion

Not an official part of the beta...but I've been installing and using the betas via apkmirror. I use the Sony XAV-AX100 for android auto on it's latest firmware (1.02.06 as of this writing). Phone is a Nexus 6P running 7.1.2. Started with the v4.24.0.113 beta....it worked...albeit with frequent crashes/restarts. It seemed VERY beta. Sometimes it didn't audibly report hazards/police, etc. The "OK Google" style voice recognition worked fine in the app....e.g if I had Waze selected for Nav, a "Navigate to DESTINATION" responded with "OK, handing that to Waze..." and then the destination came up fine in Waze.
I tried this on a few long trips, but ultimately the frequent crashes (sometimes at critical navigation points) were too much, so I largely reverted back to Google Maps.
I am now on v4.26.0.902. It is overall MUCH more stable than the 113 beta, however, all of the OK Google voice recognition defaults to Google Maps...e.g. "Navigate to DESTINATION" switches you to Google Maps by default, even if you are in Waze when you do it...even when tapping the microphone in the waze search box. I really hope that isn't going to be the case in the release version of this when it comes out. It's kind of a deal breaker....you really need that ability to choose a new navigation destination on the fly with voice commands as you can do in GM.
Overall Feedback for both versions so far:
1. I miss the speed/speed limit overlay terribly. I know they are dealing with a screen real estate issue here...but I'd really like to see this added back in.
2. No ability to send ETA in the AA UX. Not really a deal breaker for me....I found this functionality spotty at best in the release versions of Waze.
3. The Map detail could be better. I know the head unit has lower resolution than my phone, but Google Maps looks much better on it.
4. I wish the dark theme/dark map would work on AA. If I switch the lights on, it goes to dark, but I'd like the ability to have this on all the time. The dark map seems to look better on the head unit's screen.
I'd be interested to hear the experiences of others so far.....
You know, I just don't understand the lack of talk in this forum about Waze Beta. I keep coming here and looking and this is really the only thing about it.
1. Speed limit overlay is coming back, they talked about it when the new version came out last week.
2. Agreed. It should prompt you via voice after you hit a Send ETA button on who you want to send it to.
3. Agreed. I am a Geographer/GIS Specialist by trade, so I know maps, this small of font on the screen when driving is unacceptable. The detail is also very poor.
4. You DO know you can set your Android Auto to always be Night Mode right? I prefer it that way.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68249351&postcount=7
Gives you the dark map all the time. Dark Google Play Music is better too.

I did not know that! Thanks for the tip!
I've got 905 installed now but the "Navigate to DESTINATION" via voice switching you to Google Maps by default issue persists, unfortunately. 113 didn't do that. I really hope they restore that so that it uses your last used navigation app, similar to how music works.

905? Is that a new version that is AA capable?
We should use this thread, or maybe start a new one to notify XDA folks that do stumble in here when there's a new AA compatible beta. I've had to find out on *shudder* Reddit.
Installed 4.27.0.0 Beta on Friday. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/waze/waze-gps-maps-traffic-alerts-live-navigation/waze-gps-maps-traffic-alerts-live-navigation-4-27-0-0-release/
I can confirm this version works with AA. Seems very stable, they fixed the "Navigate to DESTINATION" issue as well. Still no Speedometer. It may be because I've switched to always on night mode, but the map seems to look a little better than it did. I think they still need work with the fonts, etc. but this looks promising.
How does waze download map? I use it in car without Internet.
Last time i used it, i send Internet from phone to find the destination. Then i stoped Internet and working fine.
Last time i was in a trip, i started waze again, without Internet and without settings an adress. It was working but after a few minutes it didn't have map anyone. It just showing black for map..
Probably if i started Internet again it would show map. The program was working. It did work navigation but without map..
So i think when you search an andress, it download the map to go there. So even without Internet it will work. But if you dont follow the navigation and go to some other place, it wont have the map from the other place..

Hey there. I am having trouble with android auto. I have the same head unit as you as well as the same phone. I have tried many times to get android auto running with my phone on the head unit and I always get a message about "android auto will resume when you are parked". The head unit does not give this message when connected to a samsung phone or an i-Phone (apple car play). This error only pops up with my device, Nexus 6P so I am assuming it was wired correctly by the installer. Can you PLEASE let me know what ROM you are on (including the build date) and possibly what cord you are using to connect to the provided USB extension cable? I have yet to get this head unit to work with my Nexus 6P and I have tried a different ROMs, settings, reboots etc. Please help.

I'm on the stock ROM....7.1.2 Build No: N2G470. The cord is just a generic USB-A to USB-C cord I bought at Fry's Electronics. FYI...I installed the head unit myself, and I think I may have had that issue initially. What I did to resolve it was ground the parking brake wire. This allows you to watch video on the head unit as well, if you have a USB stick with media on it (although I never do that).
Hope that helps....

Thanks skylaneffz. I am going to get the parking break wire grounded tomorrow. Debating if I want to just return to stock now and if everything works tomorrow, I can try a custom rom again later. Kinda annoying that I can get my girlfriends I-phone to work with the head unit and not my own. Currently running pure nexus 6/12 with no luck. Thanks again for your advice. Getting waze to work will be the next step once android auto is up and running.

Thanks,
I may revert to stock regardless. I only really use a custom rom because they tended to be considerably better than stock (at least initially with battery life etc). I have not been on a stock rom in so long I have no idea how they compare to customs now. Since i have flashed so many times now trying to get this to work, and I had no guarantee any flash would prove fruitful, my phone is not even completely set up. LOL. So may as well give stock a spin. Regardless, thank you so very much. I was about to give up hope getting android auto to work with my phone and head unit. Especially since the good people of Sony have told me twice the head unit does NOTwork with 6P (granted they also told me twice it did). Gotta love their customer service.
Apparently the release version is out now:

Android Auto now working with regular Waze release!
Yeah, but missing lane assist and no speeding limits is really annoying.
And the calculated arrival time is on Google maps much better than Waze. Only thing what is very cool are the speed traps in waze.
Waze has got wrong routing to me and is not a good navigation system. And i don´t like the social blabla with points and that stuff...
Maps and TomTom are much better.

I think there's a lot more stuff in ways that's a cool than that. Being able to go in and edit the map and add things or remove things and adjust them is fantastic. I do a fair amount of editing when I have time. Also the other reporting has turned out to be extremely important for me and has kept me from running into rather large roadkill and other trash items on the road from people towing trucks down to Mexico here in New Mexico.

Waze has got wrong routing to me and is not a good navigation system. And i don´t like the social blabla with points and that stuff...
Maps and TomTom are much better.

You may want to check your ways settings and make sure that they are set correctly for you. You can also do editing in your area to adjust the way that routing happens and it'll work better.

Pixel 4 (xl) and not-so-Smart Lock

In case you are wondering, Smart Lock still sucks. At my house? Nope. In my car? Nope.
Works great here. Always works with Bluetooth, but with location I've noticed it seems very precise. Like, if I do it from one spot in my house, it may not work if I'm in another. Otherwise, no problems. Not sure why it isn't working for you. If you really want to use it, try a factory reset, fresh setup.
Location based smart locked almost never works for me. It does when I first set it up but after a short while, it just decides to stop. It's been this way I think all the way back to N for me. I've just given up on it lol
I don't do location smart Lock but it works perfectly fine for selected Bluetooth devices.

Same here. At home, I shouldn't ever have to unlock it myself (Or with FR) but I always do..

I've always had issues with smart unlock based on location. One suggestion to improve this feature is to go into Smart Lock and create additional locations around where you would like it to be activated/unlocked. So for example, for your home location, add additional locations around your house to expand your range a bit. But even with this, it's still hit or miss. Give it a shot though and see if it helps.
