[ iPhone x Gestures ] [ Root or Magisk ] - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Note : Works only with latest miui developer roms.
Hey guys,
This guide is to learn how to enbale iPhone X gestures on supported Mi Phones.
Requirements - Either root or Magisk
Method 1 ( Requires root access ) :
go to your build.prop file located at /system/build.prop and edit the following code
Code:
[B]qemu.hw.mainkeys=1[/B]
change it to this
Code:
[B]qemu.hw.mainkeys=0[/B]
If the code doesn't exist in your build.prop then add the required line ( qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 ) at the bottom of build.prop
Now reboot the device and go to settings. You will see new option ''Full Screen Display''. This is the option where you can enable the iPhone X Gestures on supported Mi Phones.
Method 2 ( Root not required but requires Magisk ) :
Download the attached magisk module and flash in either twrp recovery or via Magisk app itself and reboot the device. You will see new option ''Full Screen Display'' in settings. This is the option where you can enable the iPhone X Gestures on supported Mi Phones.
Hit Thanls if you like my work.

The Gestures work very well
but i noticed after this the miui camera app becomes buggy, u cant take any HDR photos and also other camera options dont work( force close), only clicking normal picture (that is withour hdr options)works,

This mod doesn't belong to camera in any way. You probably might have used some camera related mods. You might be using camera2api. I have heard that camera2api causes such issues.

But still I'll look into this

Can someone tell me the main functions of this mod? The only iPhone X gesture I know is the swipe up to unlock (+face recognition), but I prefer unlock via fingerprint.

This has no face id. Just swipe up to go to home, swipe up and hold for recent apps, swipe from edge to go back.

Completely substitute the on board camera app with the Google camera

Help guys,
I am currently using miui 9 beta rom from Xiaomi eu on my Mi Mix.
For the camera, I am getting really amazing results with the modified Google camera apk, the one with ported hdr+ from the Pixel.
It's useless at this point to ever lunch the stock camera, which is really awful.
I use very often the "double click the power button" from lock screen to get into the camera. This however launches the stock camera.
Is there any way to force MIUI to launch the Google camera instead?
Thank you for your help.
try button mapper... or similar apps from store, no root, root or xposed.. depending wich level modification u want...
Lithium-Fusion said:
Hey. I've tried selecting 3rd party cam apps as default to get them triggered by double press to launch(screen off) but however it only launches the stock camera app. I also froze the stock and tried so but no luck. Im on MM build so you can just give it a try by Settings » Installed apps » Defaults(icon on the bottom) » Camera then select Google cam.

I tried that already, no luck. Thank you for the suggestion anyway.

I was looking for the same thing a few days ago didn't solve it and moved to ViperOS rom.
Maybe it can work if someone finds a specific MIUI file with the camera path shortcut on it, I have no idea where to start looking ...
So far even button remapper doesn't work for this

Can anyone share some feedback on this app working on custom ROMs for the Mix like LineageOS? With a custom ROM and a better and more customisable launcher like Nova Launcher for example, I think the integration and implementation of the Google Camera HDR+ app will be much better than on the stock MIUI ROM.
Thanks in advance

no, it's for MIUI only as AOSP based got diff files layout.
to revert simply uninstall the module within Magisk (asuming you use Magisk).
I tried installing it via magisk but it says this zip is not a magisk module. I downloaded again and tried but same. I also tried through twrp but i knew it wouldn't install

It'll work except the device specific features as it'll replace file inside /etc/device_features/ folder....
GPS, busybox, hardware capacitive button will be disabled & you can activate the full screen gestures.
But all camera related mods will not be in place since it will not replace the xml file (file name is different between devices).
I dunno how to make Magisk to append/replace lines inside the [whatever the device name is].xml file inside those folder.
Any help will be appreciated.

There is no developer in the world that can develop gcam mod without camera2 api enabled on any phone.
Developer can make some gcam mod stable for daily use on specific mobile phones, but it cannot do what you ask or think.
You (we) need to:
1. ask or pray for Xiaomi to enable camera2 by default, and then
2. wait for some good heart developer to make a stable (v6) gcam mod for our phone.

Hello,
That I have done and seems have worked is the following :
1) launch camera, go in the settings (plus > parameters ) and click on the "save settings" in the "general" part. A GCam folder will be created at the root of the "Mi A2" device. The .xml will be there.
2) You close the app and overload the .xml by the one downloaded.
3) You relaunch the app, double tap on the black part of the screen, and select the .xml you have just loaded.
That should be ok.

Thanks. I have installed your shared Gcam port and compared the photos taken from the stock camera and ported Gcam. I could not believe the same phone took both pictures. This has totally changed my perception of Camera Software. I wish I had this port in my recent vacations.
Though, I have a custom Pixel 3XL ROM, TWRP with Camera2API Level 3 Support on Mi A2. However, my next phone will be the one that has native support for Camera2API.

This one is incredibly good and stable

Hello,
That I have done and seems have worked is the following :
1) launch camera, go in the settings (plus > parameters ) and click on the "save settings" in the "general" part. A GCam folder will be created at the root of the "Mi A2" device. The .xml will be there.
2) You close the app and overload the .xml by the one downloaded.
3) You relaunch the app, double tap on the black part of the screen, and select the .xml you have just loaded.
That should be ok.

[CLOSED] Fix ambient display single tap and double tap to wake up

Sorry in advance if the thread is not the correct one and for my English.
I wanted to report that following the procedure to reactivate the "pocket mode" that you can find here, the ambient display and the double touch to wakes up, begin to be working always, even after several days that I enabled the function and without restarting the phone, it wakes up immediately.
I have no idea why Oneplus has disabled the "pocket mode" function, to avoid bugs and fix the problem with the ambient display and double touch, waiting for an official fix, I followed the procedure by reactivating the feature but I left the "pocket mode" off and, until now, everything works fine.
I have successfully tested the fix on my Oneplus 7 with Open Beta 15.
IMPORTANT: to carry out the reactivation of the "pocket mode" it is necessary to be rooted
Thank you for your information !
I made a magisk module for my device ( 7 Pro on OB15) to turn on the Pocket Mode option and everything worked !!

Only tested on 7Pro Open Beta 15, maybe the file should be modified again after several system updates

Caution, the feature_list file changes with the firmware release, I noticed that in firmware open beta 13, in beta 14 and in beta 15 it was different every time...

Better check the feature_list file before every system update or may cause problems

tried this one on a oneplus7 with OB15 and the phone didn't boot anymore, if it happens to someone else I just had to boot into twrp and manually delete the module under " /data/adb/modules/" then rebooted normally
Fixed in Open Beta 16

This is how it is described in the beta 16 firmware changelog but it really doesn't seem to me that it still works as it should work ... the awakening is not always immediate.
For me, the fix proposed in this thread is still the best choice ... it's just a personal opinion
same issue once
lol i had the same issue with them , i had to turn off double tap to wakeup feature than only my ambient display would work so i guess O.O.S has some unresolved bugs.

Now I can say that with the two latest versions of the open beta firmware, it seems to work fine.
If you are still not satisfied with how it works, with the mod of the feature_list file, as reported in the first post, the situation improves a lot
I finally find myself sharing my bug! [emoji37] For several betas, stable EU and global that the double tap to wake up + facial does not work for me, which for me is the best way to activate the terminal.
I did not understand why with PIE it works perfectly? Pocket mode! [emoji3061] And I have tried everything like installing fastboot or msm Dowland versions, which is the closest thing to leaving the factory and at first clean it always works but when I install everything, it stops working ... [emoji2357]
With beta 18 it was animated and with b19 it works at 80% ...
I would like to activate with the line that is mentioned in the 1st post, xr I don't understand where it should be put? I suppose that with root and a file manager with permissions go to the path:
system/etc/feature_list*
And leave like this?
system/etc/featureName: OP_FEATURE_ENABLE_POCKETMODE_SWITCH
..... And leave the line like this?? I understand that .... then you can remove root and close bootloader without losing the line?
Cheers

You have to edit the feature_list file, I act at the end of the file by editing the text in this way,
from so:
},
{
"featureName": "OP_FEATURE_MM_ULTRASOUND"
}
]
to so:
},
{
"featureName": "OP_FEATURE_MM_ULTRASOUND"
},
{
"featureName": "OP_FEATURE_ENABLE_POCKETMODE_SWITCH"
}
]
Be careful to follow the correct syntax and spacing as per stock file!
To do this, you need root privileges, a file manager that allows you to act on system partitions and a text editor. I recommend extracting the file, editing it on the PC and then returning it to the smartphone, then replace the stock file and the correct permissions must be assigned.
Once your smartphone has restarted you should be done.
If once you have made the change, you lock the bootloader, the phone is wiped attention.
Honestly no idea if the change survives a reset, i never tried
Cheers

Can you send your edited feature_list file sir

Sure,
I am attaching the feature_list extracted from Oneplus 7 Pro OxygenOS Open Beta 19 firmware, modified by adding the string necessary to enable the "Pocket mode" feature.
It is important to know that this feature_list file changes with each firmware release so it is not possible to use it universally on all versions of OxygenOS, it is good that it is used as a reference to edit what you use on the your firmware.
I compressed the file to be able to upload it into the thread, IT IS NOT A FLASHABLE FILE, it must be extracted and copied manually, assigning the correct permissions to the file.
If you want to use the attached file, remember that it only works on Oneplus 7 Pro with Open Beta 19 firmware, if you want to add the "pocket mode" feature on other firmware, you have to extract your "feature_list" file and modify it as explained in the article and using my file as a template . I repeat this file is different on each firmware and is different in each Oneplus phone model (changes based on hardware features).
Don't forget that if the file is not edited correctly or you use a file extracted from a different firmware than the one you are using, you risk bootloop!
DO EVERYTHING AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Thread closed on request of OP @dianoandr as the OP doesn't possess the device any longer!
