is there a way to install Magisk with TWRP on unlocked stock rom ? - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

I have a P8 Lite2017 PRA-LX1 no brand, unlocked, twrp 3.1.1, stock ROM
I've tried superSU, it works, but I wanted to use Magisk,
so I did a factory reset, unSU, and tried to install Magisk 15.3 and 14.0,
both gave me the error 1
"boot changed by software" and "boot partition too small" or something like this
on the net, I read that I need to install a stock boot ?? then someone install magisk via fastboot ??
I don't get it, I can't have twrp AND Magick ??
---
also, I even tried to install the "new" twrp-3.1.1-2-v2.5, after installing and rebooting, I still get the twrp 3.1.1-0 written on the splashscreen at the begin of twrp, is this normal ?

Recovery not possible after trying to flash Magisk

My phone is an Motorola 4G XT1072 Thea. Custom ROM LineageOS 14.1.
I wanted to change SuperSU with Magisk root. I therefore removed SuperSU and rebooted to recovery (TWRP) for flashing Magisk. I got an error code 1 flashing Magisk. I tried to reboot to recovery but I couldn't. It just reboots. It's like my recovery has gone. I can't even do a factory reset. I tried to reinstall TWRP through ADB but it's waiting for device forever. ADB recognizes my device. Anybody got some advice?
I managed to get my recovery back by deleting all moto drivers on windows and reinstalling them, then I could reinstall TWRP through ADB. But I still get error 1 when flashing Magisk. Is that because I need to flash a stock boot.img? If so do I then flash boot.img and thereafter Magisk.zip?
It all depends on what that "error 1" is actually about.
If you didn't restore the stock boot image after removing SuperSU, then that's a likely culprit...
If you want to know for sure you're going to have to share a recovery log with details about the error.

bootloop after flashing magisk 18 - PIXEL 3

Could you provide information about your current setup as well as steps you performed to flash Magisk?
@topjohnwu have previously mentioned that it might not be a good idea to have TWRP installed along with Magisk on A/B devices (since the recovery is in the boot image). Use fastboot to boot TWRP and then install Magisk leaving the stock recovery untouched.
I have solved it by reinstalling stock os, and then when installing twrp and magisk , I didn't check "install twrp as system app" , as it suggests at the end of flashing . Bam , now I have twrp recovery and rooted phone .

Magisk bootloop from xposed

I have LLD-L31(C432) and a while ago I went through the process of unlocking bootloader and flashing magisk. I did this without custom recovery as it caused problems but it worked and I had magisk and root fully working. However, I think I tried to install a version of xposed that was incompatible with my os (EMUI 9). This caused bootloop every time I tried to boot into recovery(system with magisk).
I can still use the device but some apps can still see xposed and won't work. I can try to boot into the system with magisk but it loops - maybe because of xposed.
I have seen that you can flash xposed uninstaller, will this wipe data and will it work? Or is there a way to remove it and get magisk back without loss of data.
Alternatively (if this option results in a more stable magisk installation),could I flash twrp to recovery and then flash magisk to my system boot to have magisk permanently? and will this method wipe data?
Edit: I flashed twrp to recovery but when I boot to it, it just loads fastboot with reason bootloader 1 any help?
Thanks

Stuck in bootloop, after installing magisk

I own a Mi 8 Global Rom on the latest MIUI and my intention was simply to root;
Bootloader is unlocked and I have Android ADB interface recognised under device manager
Successfully flashed "TWRP 3.4.0" via cmd fastboot flash recovery
Successfully went through installation process of "MAGISK 19.3" zip but am now stuck on mi logo bootloop!
I then tried to wipe dalvik cache for fun and reboot again but still bootloop.
Went to download Magisk Uninstaller zip and tried to flash it via TWRP hoping it would stop bootloop but to no avail.
Repeatedly tried to flash the uninstaller zip but i will get RED TEXT ERRORS 1 & 255 in TWRP.
Please help and advice, what did i do wrong, my rooting procedure was clean with latest magisk install but stuck with a bootloop now.
Is this bricked? Thanks for any help in advance!!v

Question Root lost after official update - help?

I was unlocked and rooted at Indian 12.5.2 ROM for the longest time. Got a notification for 12.5.5 and installed it. That took away root, but that was expected.
Now I've installed official TWRP, but as soon as I install Magisk (either via zip from recovery or patched twrp recovery image via the Magisk app), when I try rebooting to system, phone instead boots back to TWRP with a 'Android Rescue Party Trigger' error.
Happened every single time I've tried above - phone tries booting and then boots to recovery, and only way to boot system again is to install unpatched TWRP recovery, but then there's no root.
What should I do?
