I'm on the fence about buying the Axon M. I drive for Lyft and Uber regularly, which requires me to have my phone mounted in the car. Does anyone know something that would be able to mount it with both screens in landscape mode, while still being able to connect to a charger? The official car mount has terrible reviews. Would one of the magnetic systems that exist work? I would link an example magnetic option, but I'm a new user here so I can't.
I'm interested in this as well. Let me know what you try.

Nikku here: I own this phone. I have yet to mount it to my dash but here is my idea. one of those magnetic vent mounts with the metal disc you attach to the device. on the back (with both screens open) there is a spot if can be placed. ***HOWEVER*** the device uses a magnet to tell if the screen is closed. so if going this route test before affixing that metal disc to ensure placement doesnt mess with the device. I am also concerned about it being to heavy. I will post back if i ever get around to attempting it

Hey guys,
I'm very happy how this turned out, I will link to all the products I used. I originally had a Nexus 7 as my headunit, but about a year ago the battery swelled and the tablet cracked, rendering it useless, so for awhile I had nothing but an empty dash and was connecting my phone via bluetooth. When I got the Axon-M, I knew it would be the perfect "headunit" for my Jeep.
First I made a block of wood that screws into the slots where the original 1.5 DIM radio would mount. I purchased a sheet of ABS Plastic and cut it to size. Then I purchased an Arkon Heavy Duty Tablet Wall Mount and swapped out the tablet holder for the Phone and Midsize Tablet Holder which fits the Axon-M, with either a single display or both displays folded out. I simply screwed through the ABS plastic and into the wood so they hold together. I routed a hole and have a Baseus USB to Type C/Lightning/Micro-USB Cable which can power multiple devices at the same time. When I plug in the Axon-M, it triggers a Tasker profile that sets the screen brightness to 100% and prevents screen timeout when driving.
Finally, I signed up for a FreedomPop Netgear Unite Mobile Hotspot which provides 700MB of free data in my truck per month. I also have additional LTE SIMs to swap out if I run out. The internet connects to an Amazon Echo Dot which is in one of my cupholders (not pictured), and the Echo Dot feeds an aux connection to my amplifier. From there, the Axon-M connects to the Echo Dot via bluetooth. This allows me to voice activate Pandora, Spotify, and Podcasts as well as make phone calls through the Echo Dot, and when audio is played by the Axon-M, whatever is playing on the Echo Dot stops.
This is a pretty slick setup in my opinion.

Another opinion to that topic. If it's not working because of SDI/O not supported. Are there other alternatives? Maybe to get bluetooth with an USB-Cable directly in your xda1 or with a cable connected on the small usb cable connected to the car kit ?

usbdongle will not work because the device cant do usb host
it can only be accessed by other usb hosts like a pc
Maybe you did not understand me quite good. What you say is that there is no USB-dongle for the xda1, which I can connect to the cradle connection, right?
If that is not possible, what about my connection slot on my car kit? Youu can see on the attached picture, that my car kit has a ps2 connection slot for the GPS-mouse. Does anybody know if I can use this for connecting a bluetooth adapter to that ps2 instead of the gps-mouse?

ps2 to seriel converters are pretty common
the buttom connector of the xda is seriel interfaced
so if you can find a bluetooth dongle device which
works with seriel or even ps2 i guess (even though i never seen anything liek that)
personaly i doubt it would be possible to find and if it was the price would prob match
As far as I know, the only option for getting bluetooth on a Wallaby is by using an adapter that plugs into the headphone jack. One example of such an adapter is the Jabra A210.

No, this Jabra adapter is not compatible with Wallaby. Check the compatibility chart there in Jabra web site and it shows you that they are not compatible.
I ever purchased it and tested, only the speaker got transfered via BT, but the mic is not working. You have to get another compatible audio plug in between to get it connected in the correct way, but it becomes not elegant anymore.

You are correct. I should have mentioned that. I bought my Wallaby used, and it came with a little 2 inch adapter cable which lets me use standard headsets with it. I forgot that cable is not standard with the Wallaby.
Anybody use their Tilt/Kaiser for obd2 crap? I'm thinking about picking up a bluetooth obd dongle to replace my cable, if there is away to do what I want on my tilt.
I'm interested in this too for use in my wife's G35x. I was playing with her iPhone the other day and noticed "Rev" in the apps store. With the correct cable, which you order from the company, this allows you to check/clear engine codes, view readouts of certain engine vitals, and other features. They might make an app for Windows as well, wouldn't hurt to contact em.

That is sweeeeet! and a great price too. I usually have my laptop in the passenger's seat so I can do logging and the cable always hangs between my legs, it really pisses me off.
I just ordered one. The only downside is I'll still have to use the laptop when I want to do wideband logging, but other than that it should be good to go. Now if I could just find a way to get openECU to work on WM6

I use the OBD Gauge 1.3 from this site on my HTC Imagio (WM6.5) and a BT OBD II (Car-Pal) and it works great... Config BT OBD in BT Settings to use Com Port 2 (or any available Com Port), then tell OBD Gauge to use that Com Port from with in the program. A BT device selection screen will pop up to connect/reconnet to BT device when OBD Gauge tries to connect to it.
I'm using my phone for OBD1 stuff.
Inside the ECU (Honda EDM P28 with eCtune software) is a connector that has GND, +5V, TX and RX (TTL levels)
I mounted a BlueTooth module (Parallax Easy BT) to have it connected to my Kaiser at COM8.
The software uses this COM port to communicate with the ECU.
RPM, VSS, IAT, ECT, IGN, etc. etc. etc.

I am now using OBDGauge on my AT&T Tilt, with a bluetooth OBD interface. I got the OBD device here: http://www.rklenka.com/index.php?id=store/news
I did discover the "New Outgoing Port" setting inside the Settings/Bluetooth folder. Click on COM ports. Select the device you wish to add (mine is called CBT). Hit next and select a COM port (I am using 5). I tested it in my truck, which is OBD2 and has a CAN bus. Eureka! It works! Make sure the com port you select in OBDGauge preferences is the same you assigned to the BT ELM interface, and it should connect and start scanning.
You do need to have something available to keep the display from shutting off. My plan is a cigarette lighter USB power adapter with my sync cable. I also need to find a mounting bracket...
True, it does not show mpg, but ODBMobile does. I am about to get a copy and stick it on my Tilt.

the white wire is the wifi antenna, in the picture you are pointing the pin terminal that connect the gps antenna, looks in the other side and there is other pin terminal that connect the antenna thru the plastic back cover(not the cover of the battery)

can i use normal copper wire (the available choice 4 me) ....... and should i connect it with the tow terminals or the main terminal (not ground at the yellow arrow) is enough???

I think that is neutral and another positive
This has RG174 and the inner wire mesh is copper (positive)
is not positive load (energy) .. should be like running a coaxial antenna connection

I've been wanting to use the navigation screen for GTR like gauges for a while, I've seen some projects try to use gauges using a carputer and even a Raspberry Pi, which looked really promising.
I have Nexus 5 Android phone and use several apps with a bluetooth ODB adaptor.
But first I started by using a console phone mount from proclip, and a wedge to get the right angle.
I've been using the Nexus wireless Qi charger at home and it has magnets so I can just drop the phone on it and it holds very firmly and charges it.
I decide to use this in the car, I love dropping the phone down and having it charging and being able to access the screen easily. I love the look too, not some bulky phone holder. I LOVE wireless charging, it's one of the main reasons I love the Nexus.
I had a reverse camera installed a while ago by SonicMS, they used a system similar to the one sold by Alekshop:

This interface has aux inputs that weren't wired by SonicMS so I opened it up and used a spare set of RCA cables and ran them into my glove box.
I purchased a RCA to HDMI converter from Amazon, and my initial plan was to get a MHL to HDMI adaptor for the phone and a iPad to HDMI adaptor for my iPad.
But THEN... I thought, it would be so awesome to keep everything wireless, and hook up a Chromecast, so that's what I did
I setup the Tasker app from the Google Play store to do a bunch of things when it connects to the bluetooth in my M3 (tasker is another reason I love the Nexus, can't do this stuff with apple devices).
First Tasker starts the Internet sharing hotspot, and I used a plugin called Autocast to automatically cast my screen to the Chromecast, then does a bunch of other things (sets screen to not turn off, brightness all the way up, launch google maps, etc.).
The Chromecast automatically connects to the Nexus hotspot once it becomes available.
So now all I do is drop the phone on my wireless charger, and everything connects automatically, the only extra step I have to do is hold down the Menu button in my car to switch to the aux input.
Now I can easily watch Netflix, or Hulu or any app from my phone on the Nav screen, it's so awesome! It's not the best resolution, but for me it's fine.

I will be very surprised indeed if these phones support video out through usb c / MHL

I'd guess it's that these are (when we get down to it) budget devices - all the features you want, but stripped of those you don't (such as usb 3, which might support MHL, assuming I've understood that correctly)
Fwiw I find screen mirroring through Chromecast fairly useful, and loads less hassle than a cabled solution for occasional mirroring. For a longer term solution though a cable connection would likely be more stable, but I guess that's probably a niche use case, for which the redmi note series is probably not the best choice

This is not an ideal solution, but it works (with a bit of messing about). Instead of using a router based network to act as the intermediary for a Chromecast you can use another device's WiFi hotspot
We stayed somewhere for a few days last week where there was no wired internet. I had a Chromecast (I took it along expecting there would be WiFi) - my RN8 and another phone
I set up a wireless hotspot on the other phone and used my RN8 to connect the Chromecast & TV to that wireless network
I was then able to cast stored content from my RN8 to the TV without any massive data usage on the other phone
I've never used a Miracast dongle but that might be the simplest option - they're dirt cheap (€7 or so on eBay - about the same price as an HDMI cable) and don't require any external network. Not sure how reliable they are, but I think they're still supported in MIUI - can anyone comment?
Curiosity got the better of me - I just ordered a Miracast dongle. I'll report back when it arrives (it's likely on a slow boat from China, so it won't be here for a while yet)
