[kernel] rootkernel .75 - Sony Xperia XZ ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other

i use the guide here
with magisk 14.5 should no problem.
but it seem just so flash
Flash patched kernel:
*1. Flash Oreo ftf (wiping everything, excluding nothing - except *.ta files - if any)
2. Unplug device and DO NOT turn it on
3. Fastboot newly created boot.img
4. Fastboot TWRP for your device
5. Unplug device and DO NOT turn it on again
6. Enter TWRP recovery and flash: DRM-fix_System_Mode.zip << YOU CAN SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU CHOOSE munjeni's TA PoC OPTION!!
7. You're done!
Root:
- After step 6 above, flash Magisk14.5
if you have own ta.img, you should can flash the lastest magisk.
anyone have other ways that save data, plz tell me.

Gonna test it but until tomorrow. Is working for anybody else?

I dont wipe data with my own patched kernel with ta.poc. this is valid if you are coming from oreo firmware
My steps are
Flash new firmware with flashtool . I didnt tick anything
when finish put device on flashboot mode
flash recovery flash boot.img power off
enter recovery and flash new magisk 16. done. cheers

XZ still had problems with this method, my phone did turn on but has the "sim not recognized" problem (tried some time ago this method and had the same problem), AFAIK there is no way to have drmfix and latest magisk working. If is working for you, would be nice is you post detailed steps.

how's to root latest .75 firmware???

Used this guide from @serajr, he is the only one that is been updating the tool for oreo.

[Q] Can Root Sony Xperia Z1 on 4.4.2(Kitkat)

Can I root z1 on kitkat??anyone can help me?
Yes,
First, ask QUESTIONS in the Question and answer section.
Now, read the several guides in the general and/or development section on how to root.
In brief
Either, unlock your bootloader and flash an insecure kernel
or
flash stock 4.2, root, install recovery and flash a prerooted 4.4 rom.
Alll instructions are in their relevant threads so I will not reproduce them here.
Eigth time and counting I have written this today
Anyone can explain why there is not an straight forward method to root Z1 directly on kitKat and we need to downgrade to do it ?

Because sony has patched the known exploits and made it hard for the devs to find any expoit.

Best way to do is it to downgrade to 534 using flashtool, grab the FTF file needed from the mega collection thread.
Use vroot to root the device, install a custom recovery, flash the rom that you want to install (Monx, ihacker, romaur) then don't reboot, but re-enter flashmode and flash everything (without wipe) from an FTF of the same base, do not flash TA and System.
Reboot and youre done.
I wrote a more in depth tutorial which can be found in this thread, second post.

No that's not the best way
1) Vroot sends your IMEI number to china for no known reason. They have been asked to change this but gave no response to XDA about it.
2) The point of downgrading to a .534 FTF is that you can install recovery without rooting first. So install dualrecovery, then flash SuperSU.zip from chainfire, then flash a 4.4 rom of your choice.

It's real easy to relock the bootloader using Flashtool, so don't sweat unlocking it to root.

But how do you backup your TA that way.
You need to root first then backup TA. Relocking with flashtool does not restore your TA.
Once you have your backup then that is always possible, but not for a first time root.

I didn't know you could do it that way, the way that i've mentioned is what was written on all the tutorials that i've seen so i'm literally going from what other people have said, including monx.
The IMEI thing is a bit creepy but I wasn't aware of that either.
another one bricked...sigh how to fix?
Hey all,
Successfully unlocked my c9603 with latest kitkat and installed cwm 6 with these instructions
How to Install CWM 6 Recovery on Xperia Z1:
Download Doomlord’s Advanced Stock Kernel with CWM Recovery
Copy the downloaded.zip file to your phone’s sd card.
Extract the downloaded .zip folder on your PC, you will get a Boot.img file.
Place the extracted Boot.img file in the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot Quick Setup Guide.
If you are using Android ADB & Fastboot full package, you can place the downloaded Recovery.img file in the Fastboot folder or in the Platform-tools folder.
Open the folder where you placed the Boot.img file. E.g Minimal ADB & Fastbootor Fastboot or Platform Tools.
Press and hold the shift key and right click on an empty area within the folder, and click on “Open Command Window Here”.
Turn off your Xperia Z1 completely.
Now press the Volume Up Key and while keeping it pressed plug in the USB cable.
You should see a blue light in the notification light of your phone, that means your device is now connected in Fastboot mode.
Now type the following command: Fastboot Flash boot Boot.img
Hit Enter and it will quickly flash CWM 6.0.4.6 recovery in your Xperia Z1
Once recovery is flashed, now issue this command “Fastboot Reboot”
Your device will reboot now, as soon as you see the Sony logo, and the pink LED, press Volume Up key to enter recovery.
Congrats! You should now see the custom recovery.
Once in CWM recovery, flash the zip file you copied to your phone in step 2. To do so, select “install zip > choose zip from sd card > doomlord advanced stock kernel.zip > yes” and flash it.
Once flashed the zip file, reboot your device.
That’s all.
ok so I did all of the with success now when I turn my phone on I get what I think is a bootloop mode...it gives me the sony logo and the pink led to boot in cwm then re loops over and over.
I can get into cwm but thats it.
So how do I go about fixing my bricked phone now? Kinda need it lol
appreciated guys
WOW, I misread that...
If you flash doomkernel you already have recovery.
Please link to where you found those instructions, they seem way out of date.

No, I didnt back up the ta as I didnt have root in the first place.
I have doom kernal installed and can access cwm.
It is stuck in bootloop mode...how do I just get my phone to boot normally for now instead of bootlooping?
---------- Post added at 06:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
i just tried all of this from xda university, still no luck at all, still boot looping
If you flash a new (base)rom on your device it may not automatically wipe your dalvik-cache, This means your old dalvik-cache will be used for the new system files which would result in a bootloop, to fix this problem:
1. Start your phone in CWM Recovery
2. Go to Advanced
3. Choose “Wipe dalvik-cache”
4. Now go to “Mounts & Storage”
5. Choose “Wipe /cache”
6. Reboot your phone
Note: by wiping “/cache” and “dalvik-cache” you make sure it’s completely deleted, some roms use /data and some use /cache for the dalvik-cache
If the problems still exists after doing that, you could try to wipe your /data partition. before you do that first make a backup of your phone (in it’s current bootlooping state)
1. Start your phone in CWM Recovery
2. Now go to “Backup & Restore”
3. Choose “backup” (it may also be called “backup to internal/external sdcard)
When that’s done you are free to wipe /data, you can achieve this by doing:
1. Now go to “Mounts & Storage”
2. Choose “Wipe /data”
3. Choose “Wipe /cache”
4. Reboot your phone
If the rom still doesn’t boot correctly it’s probably the rom which isn’t working, contact the rom creator then and try an other rom for the meanwhile.

You do not need root to flash that.

sorry I wasnt saying do i need root for this? i know i currently dont have root and can flash ftf anyway.
what i was saying was, once i have my phone back up, I will achieve root status on it...
so if I am correct flash the phone with supersu from sdcard via cwm6 then flash
[FTF] Xperia Z1 C6903 14.3.A.0.681 Commercial&Journalist
which I am downloading from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687275
My phone should boot up now with root access, but I am only trying to fix it currently.
Cant see why I wouldnt have a working phone with root following these steps?
thanks , ill keep posting updates, might even help someone else in the process
But why are you insistent on backing up a system that is in bootloop? Why would you ever want to restore a bootlooping system?
I would just do a fresh system install and forget about backing up a non working system
Just flash the FTF of your choice, then the appropriate DooMKerneL version.
Then you are rooted and have CMW installed. 2 easy steps, I really don't understand your need to backup first, especially when your phone is bootlooping.

Flash Failed trying to Install Recovery

Hi guys, is the first time i try to install another room on my Xperia Z, i followed step by step all the requeriments
-I unlocked the bootloader
-I rooted my phone
-Install Recovery. I downloaded the TWRP App on Play Store. I select my device (Xperia Z) and i choose the last file to flash (twrp-3.0.2.0-yuga.img). I press "Flash To Recovery" and it says Flash Failed, so i can turn on my phone on the Recovery Mode..
There's another way to install the recovery? I'm a little bit worried because i heard about "Bricked Phone" and i don't wanna do something that could bring me to that.
PD: After i unlock the bootloader and root the phone, i downloader the TWRP App, and i think this could be important. The first time i open this App i have the Option to "Backup Existing Recovery". And i never installed a Recovery and in addition, when i unlocked the bootloader, all the information was deleted (yes i knew this) but TWRP gave me the option to backup and existing recovery.
Maybe if now i reset all data to zero and install again TWRP app could work?
PD2: First time i did it i don't read if the Recovery was installed. I was following instructions and tryied to reboot to enter recovery (turn off button + volume down) but it didn't work. So i once again did the same process and it said Flash Failed. Seems maybe i already have the recovery installed but for some reason i can enter
Seems i already have installed the Recovery with the TWRP Official App. The problem is that the first time i installed i didn't read the message that said if it was all ok or no. Seems was all Ok. But when i tried to enter into the Recovery Mode i coudn't (Turn On + Volumen Down Button). So again i installed the Recovery but this time it said "Flash Failed"
If i install XZDualrecovery assuming for a moment that i have already installed a recovery, could be any problem?
I m also facing problem in flashing from twrp.
Each time I m unble to flash.
As msg is showing flash failed.

First i unlocked the bootloader, then i rooted with Kingroot app. I installed TWRP Official App but this didn't work for me. So i installed the XZDualrecovery. I'm gonna explain you all the method for you to know and if somebody has any problem.
First of all, if you did something and was wrong, go to flash your phone here: https://developer.sonymobile.com/open-devices/flash-tool/use-the-flash-tool-for-xperia-devices/. This restart your phone, quit root and recovery.
1- Unlock your phone here: https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
2- Download and install Kingroot App, root and then download Check root App if all is okay.
3- Download the XZDualrecovery here: http://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZ...g21jd24hub9so04tqn9vc50&randomizer=_oupgp8psh and follow the instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NteAd_MzsPI
4- Once recovery is installed, reboot, enter the recovery and Press Wipe and select Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache. Maybe system but i don't know.
5-Install the ROM and without reboot install the Gapps. First time maybe it could 10-15 minutes or less to restart with the new ROM, just wait.
Hope it worked for you!

Dual recovery will work in both Stock KitKat and Stock Lollipop rom.
The very first install should be from KitKat ofcourse, because in KitKat
its the most easy to root, and root is require for install dual recovery.
The recovery must be installed in fota partition if you read instructions
on twrp homepage.
Its hard to try help people when they partly ignore

No, no matter if you flash or not, if you unlock the bootloader is gonna be unlocked even if you flash. If you did something and was wrong, in my opinion you should flash and start again.
And the rom i used was lollipop 5.1.1. I didn't see what you say about kernel or boot, maybe i did it wrong but i'm good now with the ROM.
I forgot to mention that after installing dualrecovery you install TWRP 3.1 but i see you know it

I tried to reinstall the RR rom, it installs normally but after reboot from TWRP, it goes back to TWRP instead of android Os.
What can i do now, please help

Hello mate
Don't worry.. Just wipe system, data and cache and re-install rr rom. The same thing happened to me when i did a factory reset on that ROM.

I had the same problem a few days back. I tried everything but at the end, I had to flash the stock ROM using SP Flash Tool. After that, I was able to boot into Stock Android and rooted the phone again and installed the Custom Rom later.

Thanks, I have already downloaded from some other URL.
@ skyh3ck and VinayakS
did it help?
My phone got a bootloop to twrp 3.0.2-7 after I wanted to restore to factory settings (from settings menu), I tried flashing 'new' RR-N-v5.8.5-20170926-aio_otfp-FINAL (during flashing I had 2 errors - logs available), tried to flash with some other roms, I tried to restore some old backups - same thing = bootloop to twrp.
I don't want to brick it like the guy from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/help/help-unbricking-k3-note-k50a40-charging-t3699007

I did not had time to revert rooting and remove custom recovery, so can't say much at this moment.
But your bootloop issue is most probably due to presence of TWRP, you need to completely remove root & TWRP, restore stock boot and recovery, then try.

Fortunately I've made it working again.
What I did, I flashed phone with SP FLash Tool 5.1628 and K50a40_S433_160909_ROW https://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/development/official-build-lenovo-k3-note-k50a40-6-t3370537. But it was not success at that time. Phone acted weirdly couldn't boot, only vibration after power on could be felt. So I tried to flash only the recovery Lenovo K3 Note Stock Recovery.img 10,2MB (also in the package but not default recovery image for S433) with the scatter map from S433 stockrom but SPFL said that it didn't end successfully, so I flashed only rocovery from stock rom S433 target_bin folder recovery.img 12800kB and then voila, it started to boot, there was a Lenovo logo, took some time to start but eventually phone is working.
Now I want to root it and / or flash correct version because my phone is actually k50-t5 not k50a40.
So thanks and good luck to those with similar problems after restoring factory settings on AIMROM.
same prob happend to me
first time encountering with TWRP loop.

Exactly the same thing happened to me.
So I tried your idea and updated my TWRP, going from 2.8 to 3.1..1
But exactly the same thing happens - it still bootloops, but to the new TWRP.
I've tried flashing several different ROMs that all worked in the past. But no change.

do as what i have mentioned above,..and give update
It worked ! Thanks.
The reason I didn't try it straight away was all the comments about wrong links etc. And some of the links afterwards didn't work. So I was looking for a recovery.img file in other places.
I read your new message, so I used the first link in your post which gave me the recovery img. The TWRP link doesn't seem to work, but I already have an up to date TWRP on the phone.

BTW nice work as always Jr! Oh, & almost forgot ...your last comment saved my @zz!!! I wasn't aware of the ver 8 issue, and the fact that u can't downgrade!! DAMN Samsung!!!!! I was seriously about to try this latest update just to try & figure out RCS not working on CRF1 & randomly came across this! THANKS! (BTW if you know anything about RCS on s7 or services/apks needed for functionality on CRF1 please pm me!)
On another note, let's have a contest to see who can hold on to the S7 the longest as their primary phone
It works perfectly , I had no problem installing it. But I have a question:
Could I replace the SuperSu with the Magisk?
I am also in the Rom Project L S7 of Lanc-City: 3

Thanks for the effort and providing root for T-Mobile. Perhaps I am an unlucky person. By the time I discovered this thread, my phone was already updated to G930TUVS8CRJ1 version. I am wondering if there is any hope for V8 bootloader to root their phone in near future. Here is my humble request if you could provide root for V8 update. TIA.

Thank you. It worked fine on my nougat s7 flat with v4 bootloader. Now I have nougat root. I have a question if I may, Can I use tmp twrp to flash Oreo or one of your, or other roms? Or would I need to upgrade the kernel or something because I can flash Oreo being that I'm on Nougat. Thanks.

working fine.
update: gonna have to switch back to u firmware because even when i unroot the phone, certain games wont work or connect to server. i cant install magisk to bypass safetynet or hide magisk after installing so root isnt even seeming worth it on this device. might as well stick to the u firmware and disable the apps I dont need and disable ota update so that i dont get the v8 bootloader update. It was fun while it lasted.

Also, can I flash Stock Nougat (using fastboot) after this? And is there any chance of my device being hardbricked?

No! you cant flash a full nougat rom with fastboot.
Bootloader cant be downgraded!
for hardbricked phones you have first to boot it using the sdcard img.
then when you get bootloader working without sdcard, can use this tutorial

Oh ok. Thank You very much
I successfully rolled back to 7.1 using this method. No errors or issues. Everything worked flawlessly. A big thank you @vaserbanix
What are the problems with 8.1? I'm still on Android 7 (RETEU)

1. Oreo Battery drains considerably faster than 7.1. (But charges faster too)
2. Fingerprint unlocks slower than 7.1
3. Lags slightly when doing intensive tasks.
Now we need a maintainer for (a) Nougat rom(s)..

LOS14.1 has been updated:
NEW BUILD: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid...63190603848665
Change log: November 18 Security Update
NOTE: Like so many other users, I too updated my device with OREO and stuck with that. I haven't tried downgrading it because I don't want to end up with a hard-bricked device once again. Point here is the new build is not tested. So please take a TWRP backup before using this build. Don't forget to post me even if works fine.
Thanks,
KS

Fantastic tutorial, vaserbanix. Thank you!
Does anybody know where can I get a nougat stock rom TWRP flashable? There is a thread with stock roms but all of them are only flashable via Fastboot...
I would like to get this in particular: [MONTANA_NPP26.102-49-14]

Thank you so much for your feedback, ShattrdChain! :good:
May I know what rom did you use for flashing with this method?
And do you know if bootloader needs to be unlocked in order to downgrade with this guide?
TWRP method doesn't work (bootloop), pls fix or delete.

Its works great.
You can also use fastboot to downgrade!
can the downgrade be done without the bootloader unlocked?
the methods don't work for xt1799-2!
