Why do banking apps say that my phone is rooted and refuse to run? - General Omni Discussion

Why do banking apps say that my phone is rooted and refuse to run?
I did check with backup softwares that require root and they all confirmed that my phone is not rooted.
Is there a way to make my OmniROM recognized as a non-custom firmware?

I don't know if it will work for omnirom bu it works for a phone that's rooted and unlocked.
Install magisk, magisk allows you to hide the fact that the phone is rooted for specific apps.
See if this helps you out

Help using baking app finding non-existing root

banking app, not baking app, f**ks sake
Hello there. I have been using stock android 7.1.1 for a while and decided to try using roms again (Pure Nexus). One of the apps that i need is "Vipps" its a Norwegian banking app used to transfer money to friends and stuff, but its notorious for finding root. I used to use xposed and root cloak on android 6, but i know well it dosent work with 7. Magisk dosent hide it, suhide dosent hide it.
After installing Vipps it rejects opening promting me with "Vipps does not support rooted devices". Only thing is its running a ROM that comes with no root.
- Cheers, Kristiansja
edit: root checker doesn't find annything either

Go into the root settings and remove root. Mind you this cause some of the features of the rom to stop working. Apps like that are not only looking for root but also for unlocked bootloaders. So if those apps are important to you then might want to stick to a fully stock set up and relock your bootloader.

Go into developer option and turn off USB debugging. After that, reboot the phone and see if Vipps is working. If that doesn't work, I have one more suggestion.
It's probably checking ro.build.tags and/or ro.build.type. These are set to test-keys and userdebug on PN (if I remember correctly) and some apps need them to be set to release-keys and user. It could also be looking for other prop values and possibly also busybox (also included in PN, I believe).
Or BusyBox...

Unable to use UPI based payment apps after installing custom ROM

I unlocked my Bootloader and installed TWRP to install Pixel Experience custom ROM. Everything was working fine until I discovered that all the UPI based payment apps (PhonePe, Google Tez , BHIM ) are now not functioning showing popup that my device is ROOTED. What should I do? Would going back to MIUI help?
Just do a simple search in Google how to use banking app in rooted phone and you will get solution.

Unrooted phone but still apps says my mobile is rooted.. HELP!

Hi guys,
I am using my 1+5T for almost 2.5+ yrs now and since beginning i rooted the mobile for trying new custom ROM's, installing substratum themes, ad blocking etc etc.
Now many banking/payment related apps, maadhar, etc are showing as my phone is rooted. Magisk HIDE is not helping anymore.
So, i uninstalled magisk root and still my OEM is unlocked. all the previous apps shows similar message as my mobile is rooted.
How should i completely unroot my mobile without leaving any trace so that these apps doesn't show rooted messages again ?
Any Idea ?
NOTE: Previously i completely unrooted my mobile & still many apps shows rooted so got to root my mobile and used magisk HIDE .....

As long as your bootloader is unlocked, they will report your device as rooted. If Magisk Hide alone doesn't work, try the "Repackage Magisk Manager" option in Magisk Manager settings. It works for me.

I unrooted my mobile but still magisk manager was installed so apps showed message "my phone is rooted". After that i uninstalled magisk manager and all apps started working fine.
Now i am unrooted but my bootloader is unlock.
Well, I still have that same problem. But only from Samsung Pass with an actual message box, which says that my device is rooted so can't use the app for security reasons.
I rooted my Galaxy S20 FE 5G SM-G781B with Magisk and afterwards uninstalled it with the Complete Uninstall method, but after automatic boot, that procedure only gave me some weird errors and I couldn't boot the phone.
It got stuck to this error filled download mode screen. There I saw an option to lock the bootloader back. Well, did that but then my phone got itself into a boot loop!
I managed to get to the download mode (in between the loops) and then it became even more errored and with all red alert stuff there!
Thought I bricked the whole damn device which I only bought like two weeks earlier rip.
Well then after some google fun time I downloaded original stock firmware to odin it. Well, nothing worked and always failed!
Then afterwards it became to my attention to try to flash the firmware that I originally flashed just before installing Magisk.
Heck yeaaah that actually worked lol and all bank stuff works and even software update and I now have all the newest updates etc and Magisk and Root Checker shows no root and then I removed Magisk for good and rebooted the phone to check any surprises.
No surprises and everything works, EXCEPT Paypal app and Samsung Pass!
Paypal just says after trying to log in "Please check your information and try again", but Samsung Pass actually says that "Your device has been rooted. Samsung Pass cannot be used on rooted devices for security reasons."
So what the heck!
I hate myself for rooting the new phone for nothing and now my ocd suffers for having that stupid whatever error stuff there, especially since I actullay USE Samsung Pass and Paypal!
EVERYTHING else works just fine, but not those two!
Grrr!
So all you wise people, can I actually do something about this or not??
Cheers!
@Hopeasilmu I would expect that the Samsung apps will now be complaining since you probably tripped the Knox fuse when you unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device. Once that's tripped you can't get it back...
If you need more info on Knox there's plenty available both here on XDA (check the Samsung forums) and on the web in general.

You can still lock the boot loader. There is a way. I did that on my Samsung M31 however I cannot recall the steps.

unrooted device - detecting root

Hi all,
I just installed the latest stable EU rom on my Mi note 10 device. I've used TWRP and magisk 23.0. And also, I did an IMEI repair operation.
Everything was fine until I tried to install my banking app. I uninstalled magisk (on the app and using twrp). (Also, uninstall and re-install the banking app) However, still, my banking app detects the root!
What is the correct way to remove root access and get rid of root warning? (I dont need root anymore).
Thanks in advance
There are several things that an app might be looking for besides Magisk. Enabled developer options, unlocked bootloader, etc...

Question Banking app

For now I'm not going to install any custom recovery or rom but just want to unlock the bootloader; so if I do so, then my all banking apps will work without any break?
With the bootloader unlocked, banking apps will detect it and the play store(If present) will no longer be certified and you will no longer have access to certain apps, you will need to root+magisk+zygisk+safetynet module, for the banking apps to work.
