Note 8 Grey out Navbar using Pixel 2 Launcher - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Anyone here using the different versions/iteration of the Pixel 2 Launcher? I have tried 2-3 versions of it from known developers but it seems like all of them have the common problem I can't seem to find a fix. Not sure if the issue is with regards to our Note 8 or the Launcher themselves. When I use the launcher the navbar is totally grey. Not the usual white accent color.
Anyone here able to find a fix or a solution to this problem? TIA.

[Q] Transparency at Android Buttons area is gone after Sytem Update

Hey Guys! Yesterday the camera update arrived in my Moto X (Brazilian Retail version). And a great feature is now gone.
The transparent area behind the android digital buttons is now fully black. This is annoying me. Did it happen with you too?
My System Version is now 139.12.35.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR.
Thanks everyone!
I believe this is indeed a new change in the update. They got rid of the transparency for whatever reason.
I'm still transparent on Verizon.

i've noticed this too. i had a gsm dev edition on the camera ota and it had a fully black bar. i now have an at&t one also on the camera update and it has a transparent bar. weird.
edit: i'm wrong, it's black on AT&T version too on homescreen. the camera is still transparent, as was gsm dev edition after update.
Are u using non stock launcher?

I do. I'm using Apex Launcher to use some custom icons and have a better home screen alignment.
but I didn't had this issue when I first installed it. So if I go back to stock launcher I'll have my opacity back? If I do it and then install Apex Launcher again will the problem be solved? Well, let's check.

yeah apex here. can confirm on my wife's pre-ota version moto x the nav bar is transparent in apex launcher. on mine post-ota, black bar apex, transparent stock.
Same problem, on AT&T post-update. I couldn't remember if I had transparent in Nova before rooting and getting the Xposed modules, so after the update, I just assumed it was because I was using a third-party launcher and lost root. It is still transparent on stock launcher, but stock launcher sucks.
Black bar on NOVA. Even tried setting transparency with GravityBox and no dice. It gets semi-transparent but the color is all off and it gets weird graphical glitches when you hit a button.

Mine is black with Nova as well.
So do we know (a) why and/or (b) a fix?
I just updated (vzw) and noticed this change as well. I am in Nova, and didnt pay attention to stock, is it transparent in the stock launcher for sure?

Yeah, I tried a couple this afternoon, and only the stock launcher had the transparent nav bar. Does anyone have any clue what part of the system needs to be modified to get transparency to stick all the time?
Thought I'd add my name to the list of people who noticed this. It would be great to have this back, especially to keep the AMOLED screen healthy where the navigation bar is (so that it wears evenly with the rest of the screen).
Posted from the comfort of my Moto X.
Add me to this list. Post ota using apex, its black. However, I notice that if I reboot, it is transparent until I open an app or app drawer.
You guys getting the same thing?

Did anyone else get the Nova beta update? There's a new setting in "Look and Feel" for transparent nav bar but it's not working for me. I have it checked but my nav bar is still black. Anyone else experiencing this?

Getting rid of MUI

I am getting this phone soon and can not wait. BUT, I really do not like the look of MUI. I'm not interested in having some kind of IOS look-a-like with no apps tray. Has anyone else been using Google Now, or any other launcher, for a while? Could someone who knows about these things explain the pros and cons of just using a different Launcher over MUI rather than flashing a new CM based ROM? Do the changes made by MUI interfere with a more traditional Android launcher?
Used miui7 on my my oneplus one for a good while. No trouble at all to just change the launcher. Was one of the first things I did the second time I used it. Mainly because I needed a launcher that would rotate 180°. Miui doesn't do that for the launcher.
But if all you want is an app drawer, you can easily simulate one with miui launcher. Just create a folder, drop every single app in there and place it in the dock area, where a drawer would be. That's all an app drawer is after all.
The only problem is sorting the apps inside the folder since on miui 7 I never found a way of sorting apps inside a folder alphabetically. I just worked around this by swiping up from the home screen and typing in the first letters of whatever app I was searching for.
BTW you're not losing anything by replacing the miui launcher, the miui experience isn't the launcher alone, it's way more than that. If anything, you're gaining extra functionality but just using nova or alike. Can't say about miui8, never used it.
One of the first things I did when I got the Mi5 a couple of days back was to install Nova Launcher for the same reason. The other thing was to swap the hardware buttons around.
It works just as you'd expect - getting an App drawer and the ability to have a centred home screen.
One of the issues with the MIUI base is that you can't change the Lockscreen wallpaper when your active launcher isn't the MIUI launcher. This is easily fixed by switching to the MIUI launcher, changing the lock screen wallpaper from the settings menus, then switching back to your launcher of choice.
I use buzz launcher and think it's great
Change the launcher. Miui is great otherwise!

Nova Launcher vs ZenUI Launcher

I hope that this question hasn't already been asked. I have both of these launchers on my unrooted Samsung Note 5 and I noticed that the ZenUI's graphics appears to be somewhat better than Nova's. Is this possible?
Differences: It seems that the icons and the wallpaper with ZenUI are a little bit in terms of contrast. There seems to be a deeper color to them. On the other hand, Nova's colors seems a little washed out. (This is after I tried to get the size of the grid and icons exactly the same with the same exact wallpaper and icons.)
I had thought that the launchers simply rearrange a few things but the underlying launcher (TouchWiz) is what does the main work. Is it possible that ZenUI's graphics are indeed better?

Wallpaper Carousal Not Working in MiUi8

Hello,
The wallpaper carousal in my unrooted Mi5 doesn't seem to work. The lock screen shows only the default, offline 8 wallpapers.
I also tried clearing the cache and data of the carousal app (also tried a restart after that). Any clue about how to fix this?
Which launcher do you use?

It's the default launcher provided by MiUi.
Btw, it's a bit stupid that I am answering my own question, but the issue was resolved when I got an OTA two days ago The version I have now is 8.0.5.0

Good to know it works now
I was asking about the launcher because when you have custom launcher set as default, Wallpaper Carousel cannot access wallpapers and symptoms are just how you described. Xiaomi says that this is "known error"
Below feedback i wrote to Xiaomi
Changing wallpaper on Lockscreen is unique feature of Xiaomi but it's not working. I google lot on solution, still it is not working. Many users reported that the wallpaper is not changing on lockscreen. I tried both on default launcher and lightning launcher still not working. Did many troubleshooting like installed old versions, Autostart, no restrictions in battery saving, allowing all permissions etc still not working. My device is Redmi Note 4 rooted with Android 7.0 with MiUi 9.6.3.0.

Default & Poco Launcher constantly rebooting

This issue has been going on for quite some time with both the default MIUI launcher and the POCO launcher.
Often, when going back to home, the screen only displays the wallpaper. Icons follow about 5 seconds later and only then is the phone usable.
The only similar issue I've been able to find is on a Reddit thread for Redmi Note 7 and the only solution then was to use Nova. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/dp92pc/redmi_note_7_launcher_restarting_all_the_time/)
Anyone facing similar issues? Can't change to other launchers since i'm using dual apps and haven't found a launcher that allows ease of use on that aspect.
Try to uninstall Launcher update
I'm suffering from this issue since flashing the global rom on my 11 ultra 2 weeks ago. But today i was trying new theme. I never changed the default theme before by the way. I don't know how or why the issue is gone with the new theme. Maybe it's related to the screen backup i did on my Chinese Rom and when I have returned to the global rom and did the screen layout restore the issue came out like different themes not compatible with different roms
