Problems with "ok Google", WiFi and mobile data - Moto E4 Plus Questions & Answers

So I've noticed a few problems with the WiFi and mobile data, firstly the WiFi, it stops working at some times(it shows the little x on the WiFi symbol), and I have to reconnect it for it to work again. Secondly some VPN's don't work on WiFi . On the mobile data, the VPN's work, but I have the same issue of reconnecting mobile data as it says suspended in the task bar.
Is this a common issue or am I just having these problems?
Also the ok Google won't work. I've tried deleting the voice model, retraining the voice model multiple times, but nothing works.
I have the mediatek variant of the e4 + btw.

Google assistant has problems with the default moto voice. Disable moto app & moto actions. If you are rooted install Android Mic Fix module from magisk.
For wifi do a Network settings reset in wireless & network. Maybe do a wipe cache partition in recovery mode.

No Data (3g/4g). Root related?

I just got off the phone with Verizon. My Rezound has 4G, but the Droid4 has no data (but does have voice, and Wifi works). They had me do the following:
- Reboot the phone (did that before calling)
- Pull and re-seat SIM card and SD card
- Clear Browser app data and cache (morons)
- Toggle airplane mode
- Toggle Data roaming
- Safe mode
I also tried toggling CDMA/LTE with CDMA-only on my own, and cleared the cache partition in Recovery.
Nothing I do can get data back. Also, after a reboot none of the text messages she received today are still in the app. Since my phone is working, a network outage doesn't seem likely. The D4 is rooted but no custom ROM.

Any advice?

Thanks, but it didn't change anything. VZW suggested I try a factory reset, will it mess up root? I don't mind rerunnung the script if necessary but I want to make sure it won't break the phone.
One other question is because I am new to SIM cards, could a bad SIM work with voice but not data?
EDIT: Doesn't the 3G still go over CDMA, so shouldn't I have 3g at least, even with a bad SIM?
I have very off and on data. I go to airplane mode and back and sometimes it fixes it. Could b circumstance..I am on my second d4 and it was so bad I had to get on wifi to setup and sync everything on this new replacement ...I'm rooted as well but obviously I wasn't when I did setup and it was bad. I don't think root is to blame. Could b the sim. We r in a good coverage area supposedly.

Voice is still over CDMA/3G, LTE is for data only, and is what the SIM is for.
On your phone do you have the lte logo pop up?
I have been having issues with my d4 which is rooted as well. I have figured out for some reason the APN that controls the internet keeps dropping out however the IMS APN stays connected. When that happens the lte logo stays up but turns white and when the internet APN is connected it turns blue.

There is no signal bar for 3g or LTE. unless you refer to a different symbol?
Some of the Razrs have the same problem. Probably you will need a phone swap, would try factory reset first.
Did you do a restore from titanium backup? If so was it a restore of EVERYTHING? Cause I did that when I got my droid 4 and I had no data or anything once the restore finished. I had to do a full blown factory reset then everything was good again.

I assume you've already tried settings->data manager->data enabled, checked?
My D4 decided to turn this feature off on its own yesterday. I use the Smart Actions app to disable cell data when using a wifi connection and this configuration might have caused some kind of hiccup and not allowed the cell data to come back on when a wifi connection was out of range. I had to hunt around a little after trying most of the stuff you mention above only to find the data enabled, not checked. Simply turned it on and LTE came back instantly.
Good luck.
Verizon tech support told me this is a known software issue with the Droid 4 and advised me to keep the WiFi turned off when I didn't need it. They also said a fix was on the way around the end of July. (This now appears to be ICS, which looks like it might be out very soon.)
From my own use, WiFi appears to be responsible. I can lose my data connection when WiFi is turned on even when I'm not connected just like I was told.
I can also lose data when Notify Me is enabled in settings. This will manifest as losing the data connection when opening an app that uses a data connection, such as the browser. I chalk this up to the phone refreshing the available AP list for which turns on the WiFi, even when it's disabled.
My suggestion is to turn off WiFi when you don't need it and disable anything else that can call it up like the Notify Me setting, Google and Verizon location services, and turn off settings in any apps that might enable it.

Help!! Wifi vs Mobile Data priority

By default, I keep my mobile data on. When I switch Wifi on, it would override the mobile data, and when I switch Wifi off, it would resume mobile data, and this is working perfectly without needing me to manually switch mobile data on/off. I guess this is the general behavior of Android device.
However, recently I tried some apps to switch mobile data on/off, and it must be one of these apps which changed the network connectivity priority. What happen now is that when my mobile data is on, I cannot turn on Wifi (well, wifi is on, but it won't connect to any ssid, and just show Disabled), so i must manually switch the mobile data off that I can use Wifi.
This so annoying, and I have been searching for solutions but can't find any.
Since those apps I tried do not require root access, I guess i could revert to originally settings without root, but I couldn't find any options in system settings about network connectivity priority.
Experts please help!
After some more search, I found that one of these apps must have used "setNetworkPreference" to change the preference from TYPE_WIFI to TYPE_MOBILE.
Ref.
http://developer.android.com/refere...ctivityManager.html#setNetworkPreference(int)
But i'm not android programmer, i have no idea how I can reset it to default.
Any help would be much appreciated.

[Q] Urgent! Mobile Data not working on Lollipop Rom!

so i installed a lollipop global lte version on my z1 cause australia doesnt have it yet, the network works and everything, but it just wont turn on data, like i can turn the toggle on but it never actually works? Had the same issue with bluetooth and clearing the cache fixed that.
How can i fix this? any ideas?
THANKS!
If you are connected to a WiFi network go to: settings, more, Internet settings and that option will auto-configure your APN'S. If doesn't work go to: settings, more, Mobile networks, Access points names and configure manually

OG Turbo not receiving any notifications on mobile data

Hey all,
my 1st gen Droid Tubro phone recently stopped receiving push notifications (hangouts, snapchat, facebook, whatsapp, seekingalpha, gmail, etc) when on mobile data. I've checked to make sure that background data isn't being restricted, that notifications are on for those apps, that power saver mode isn't on, that google play services is allowed to work on wifi and cellular, etc. I've wiped the cache partition as well but still no luck. As soon as I reconnect to wifi, all of the notifications I missed come in at the same time.
Has anyone had this issue with the turbo and if so, how did you fix it? I'm leaving the country in a couple of days so I'm hoping I can get this cleared up by then since I'll be using my phone (on mobile data) internationally.

Samsung Galaxy A6+ Internet issue

I've had my A6+ for about 2 month now and I'm very happy with the phone. But there is one issue that happens from time to time. The phone does not do anything internet related. It doesn't matter if it's my home WiFi or my mobile data. The phone itself shows that it's connect to the wifi but nothing works. YouTube doesn't load, neither does the play store and WhatsApp messages don't get sent. What's weird is that for example YouTube and the play store don't say that I don't have a connection, as they normally would if there is no access to the internet. They just keep loading without showing an error message of some sorts. I've tried to restart the phone a couple of times, even wiping the cache of the phone itself and of the apps. I don't know what's causing it and how to solve it. The first time it just started working again after many hours, but I don't know if it's because I did something or because it was random.
I'm thankful for every idea and answer
I've gone through this before and for me it had something to do with the Data Saver option.
When I restarted while Data Saver was on, this would happen (no internet access even when connected to WiFi or mobile data) but when I restart with the Data Saver off it would function normally. You can still use the Data Saver but just don't restart with the Data Saver on

That could be it, although I can't test it anymore. The solution that worked for me and that was given by the Samsung support was to reset the network settings and then reboot. It worked again after that
