HELP! Launcher Pro Error Rendered my phone USELESS

I've got launcher pro installed and all I did was select a setting under preferences from the home screen in the Launcherpro settings to restore back to its defaults. As soon as I did it asked me to restart. I selected to restart later and then it just started giving me this error:
The application Launcher Pro (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Dumpstate_app_201007291243_android_process_acore. Log has been saved. Use *900# to copy out log.
This error keeps coming one after the next. I can't do anything on my phone.
I searched everywhere online and the solution is "HARD RESET YOUR PHONE".
I called ATT cust support and they DON"T KNOW how to do it w/out going through the UI.
Everywhere online says hold the down button and power on while holding down. I tried that and it does NOTHING.
Somebody please help?
I don't understand why I can't even get to the factory reset menu at least?
I get all my notifications and everything. I can access anything that pops into my notification tray. It get's interuppted by the launcherpro error message but I can kind of plow through it but I can get to the messages application if there's a message in my notification tray or an email. Can I somehow get to the reset menu from that tray?
I can't access any settings normally because settings run off the home screen and my home screen is unavailable due to the launcher pro widget. I just got this phone...this SUCKS.
I can also access the phone through mass storage. I new to droid so I can't brainstorm any ideas.
Try this.
1. remove your battery wait a few seconds and replace it
2. hold down the up and down volume buttons and the power button until the att screen loads on the screen
3. make sure that reboot system now is highlighted (use the power buttons to move) and press the power button
That should reboot your system. If that doesn't work try repeating step 3 but select delete all user data instead.
If launcherpro is crashing, why not go to appbrain on a computer and give the command uninstall it there. In between the crashes, I am sure the phone will get the command and do the deed. Once done, reboot the phone and either TouchWiz should launch, or the screen that tellls you to select default launcher will come up, and allow you to select TouchWiz. Worth a shot I think.
So hold down and up simultaneously? along with the power button?
Do I hold these down until the reboot menu appears? or do I have to hold all three until a specific point during the phone boot then let go?
I've never heard of appbrain but I will check it out and try it if the reset doesn't work still. Thank You!
I tried holding up and down and power and it sent me to the menu Thank You!
the options are
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cach data
is this the stock menu? I was wondering if reinstall packages would correct the issue without erasing my data?

I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to try. I would still try reboot system now first. If that doesn't work you may want to look into the appbrain solution posted above.

Hey thanks for all you guys help so far. I have a few pictures and videos I'm trying to pull off before I try the complete wipe. I'm going to look into the appbrain software. Will update.

I think you may also need to add fast web installer to the toolchain. Get that on the phone first somehow if you need to (ADB install?).

Have you tried the reboot system choice yet? That will not delete any of your data, but it may restart Launcher Pro so that it actually works.
Yes it didn't work. I tried to reinstall all packages but it's looking for some type of ".zip" file at the root directory.
I think it's because I rooted it to sideload, and so this is not the stock reboot menu.
I'm going to have to research to find out what I need to do from here. I'm a brand noob but I think I'm on the right path.

No, that is the correct reboot menu. The reinstall packages searches for update.zip in the root of the sd card, that is how you rooted the device. At this point I would suggest trying the Appbrain method and seeing if you can get that to work. I have never used it so I won't be much help there. If you can't figure that out deleting user data should fix your phone, but you will lose your data.
When you do get everything working I suggest you download rom manager from the market and making a backup of your ROM once you get everything working properly. That will enable you to use the reinstall packages choice to basically go back to a previous working version of your ROM.
Maybe adb (in Android SDK) can be used to remove Launcher Pro?
adb uninstall com.fede.launcher
The only problem is, I think USB debugging mode must be on for this to work...

If it's just pictures you are trying get, then go into mass storage mode, that you indicated you can do. Then take whatever you need off the phone and copy it to your computer. After that put the update.zip file found here onto the root of the internal sdcard. Disconnect the phone and reboot into recovery and apply the update.zip by reinstall packages. Once you get back up, do a factory reset and you will be back to a stock phone with root enabled. Either this, or get your pictures off the phone and then reflash with Odin3 One Click Downloader.
This is what happened. I guess pics/videos are saved to the SD card by default. I found them all there.
So I installed the update.zip file on my device.
I reinstalled packages. Everything went back to normal. A lot of my data was saved too!
I went to the market to download the Rom Manager and had issues. No matter how many apps I tried to download from the Market it stalled at "Starting Download". The ones I paid for said "installed" still.
I did a factory reset through the GUI. It worked. I can download now.
I entered the market with my known google username/password. I tried to reinstall ALL my paid apps. They no longer are marked "installed" but appear as if I did not pay.
Now I'm STUCK on how to get my paid apps back! Namely Rom manager PREMIUM for starters. There's no code or serial to enter. Is there a way to get this back w/out paying for it again?

It appears that you are following the steps. Is it possible you forgot your gmail sign in information and created a new account. A second factory reset may be needed.
This is the same thing that happened to me. Hard reset fixed it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S
I'm all set, I used the WRONG account.
For future reference, you could have just removed launcherpro from adb.

com.android.phone stopped & missing text messaging

Ok so after attempting replace the AT&T contacts app I finally succeeded, but now my phone doesn't work and I recently lost text messaging.
I downloaded the apk files from this thread then placed them - Contacts.apk, ContactsProvider.apk, Phone.apk, PhoneConfig.apk and associated .odex - in my /system/app folder. I then restarted the phone several times and cleared the Dalvik cache using the SystemCleaner app.
As it stands right now, placing my SIM card in the phone and having it in anything other than airplane mode, I get the error com.android.phone stopped. I can dial a number without the SIM card in but it fails because I'm not connected to my carriers network.
Using Titanium Backup & Restore app, I notice that com.android.providers.telephony isn't installed. I also notice com.motorola.messaging isn't installed. These may suggest why things aren't working.
My phone has been rooted and has an unlocked bootloader. It has the stock ROM and I'd like to keep it if possible. I just want to fix these issues and have my phone back the way it was before all these issues started. Also I'd like to recover my previous text messages if possible.
Any help in addressing this issue would be great.

Ok so I used Titanium Backup to Wipe Data for Contacts and Phone, powered off the phone, then powered it back on, then inserted my SIM. I got the same message.
If the process for clearing the cache is something else a brief explanation would be welcomed.
By the way ai6908, thanks for taking the time to respond to this thread.
it should have worked...go to CWM and wipe cache and davlik after you wipe data...did you wipe contact storage?
This is why you backup. All you needed to remove art contacts was root uninstaller

Ended up reinstalling the stock ROM and uninstalling most of the AT&T apps. I didn't bother attempting to replace the Contact app with the stock android version.

[Q] Deleting Cached Data

Hi, I have a friend who decide to get this phone against my personal suggestion, now the issue is I that have no clue how to delete the cached data, I own Galaxy phones and Nexus, that I know where to go to delete the cached data, however I can't seem to find that option on HTC, nor if I boot on recovery I'll see this feature.
So the question is, How do I delete Cached Data on HTC?

Settings > Apps > Tap the app > Delete Cache / Delete Data ?
No, Nexus and Samsung phones include an option to delete the Cache Partition and Cached data, so I don't have to go 1 by 1, for what I read somewhere, the only way to remove the Cached data on HTC is by turning off the phone, removing the battery for 10 seconds, turning it on again...or this Wipe Cache...will never recommend this phone...guess I'll try this...

[Q] Google Play services won't start, after a factory reset.

Here is the sequence of events that led to this:
- Was prompted to get Android 5. I installed it. Never had a single problem with this phone before I did this.
- I tried to download a large game but the download kept failing. After a couple more tries, it suddenly said I was out of storage space. I checked my storage and it said 5 GB was being taken up by "System Data".
- I clear some games to make space so I can look up the problem and get any utility apps I would need. According to the Google research, the problem was with a data folder I don't have access to. I tried the *#9900# code which gave a "connection failed" error, so I was left to either do a factory reset or root my phone.
- I rooted my phone.
- Afterwards, used DiskUsage to check what was taking up so much data, about a fourth of it was Dalvik cache. Google searches instructed me to just go in and delete everything in the Dalvik folder manually, but I was scared to because I didn't want to mess up my phone (the irony). Downloaded System Cleaner ROOT in hopes it would solve it. It didn't, it just messed up all my programs. It set up a backup, so I loaded the backup and things seemed to turn back to normal. However, it did absolutely nothing to fix my full storage problem.
- Backed up a bunch of my stuff to my SD card and went for the factory reset, again thinking it would be better than if I just went and wiped a bunch of files I'm unfamiliar with. After the reset, the phone brought up that "upgrading your apps" prompt before starting. Now nothing works again, including Google Play services, which is required to get past the set-up screen.
I don't know whether it was the System Cleaner app or if it was the Lollipop that screwed things up, but my phone is now useless since I can't get past the set-up prompts. Is there anything at all that I can do? Because this is pretty bad.

Help Needed! Boot loop after cache wipe lineageOS

Hello,
My phone shuts off after a few seconds on startup when there is not enough space. What I do is wipe cache and dalvik and then free up some data.
Same thing happened today after trying to backup some stuff with titanium. So I freed up some stuff and erased cache and dalvik cache in twrp.
But now my phone just stays on the lineage logo thing, never actually boots. I am stuck and this is bad because all my data is lost. Especially signal which I hadn't backed up...
Can anyone help? I would be very grateful!
lineageos 16
Backup everything in TWRP although I'm not sure if media in Signal will be included.
You can check that by opening the ...win files afterwards on a PC but have to rename them to ...tar first.
Might have to concatenate them as well before opening.

I wrote that in sentences 2+3.
Afaik you can only retrieve data (if not encrypted) from apps.
No need to retrieve apps for they can be reinstalled from playstore or f-droid or do I misunderstood you?
Authenticator? dunno what you mean.
