According to other blogs and reporting.. it looks like yes, they will probably be oreo for this phone in Q3 this year but not if you root the phone.

Yup! All the J3 (2017) Models got Wi-Fi certified with 8.0:victory: , too bad it ain't Android 8.1 unlike the J5 (2017) and J7 (2017).Probably released on end of July or August (September if your in Turkey).

tmobile removed the device from it's site out of nowhere. It is supposed to still be in development but neither tmobile or samsung could give me information on it.

I was talking about J3 2017 (Unlocked or unbranded ones), not the carrier specific (T-Mobile,AT&T and others) so does that means the carrier specific models won't get Android Oreo?(depends on the carrier)

Probably because T-Mobile released the J3 2018 (J3 Star) in there store? , so they don't have to bother updating it (that my guess..):silly:

But every newer OS is larger in storage size and in RAM so it should run slower
The above sentence comes from IT experiance (dont even think about Windows10 as a example)

Oh no! there are some minor stuff that got removed or changed on the Oreo update :
The auto rotation quick toggles animations got removed.
The slide close animation when turning off the screen/display got changed.
Opera Max on Ultra Power Saving mode got replace with Samsung Max.
But anything else is fine or got upgrade.
and yes Android 8.0 is a lot faster and smoother and better ram management.

I'm in shock cause I don't see and feel any difference between Android 7 and Android 8
Has that happened ever before? For example when KitKat turned into Lolipop then Marshmellow than Nougat?

Look at sites like this one:
http://article.isunfar.com.tw/posts/information/Android%207.0%20Nougat的手機升級清單/26950
Its chineese, but the device names could be read ))
"For those wondering, EMUI 5 will be coming to other devices with the update planned for the Mate 8, P9 and P9 Plus early next year followed by the honor 8 and other Honor branded devices in Q2 2017. Hardware limitations aside – such as a dual lens camera etc – most devices getting EMUI 5 should get the full feature set and for those not set to get the update, there will be an updated version of EMUI 4.1 that will bring some of these changes. The P8 and P8 Lite are likely to be two devices that aren’t updated to EMUI 5 but instead get a tweaked version of EMUI 4.1, with some of the functionality from the latest version." android authority

My Mediapad T5 10.1 LTE is on Android 8.0 (AGS2-L09 8.0.0.231).
I couldn't find information about upgrading to Android 9 or 10
A couple of websites list 9.1.0.116 for the ags2-w09 model but no download option that I've seen.
Also not sure I'd want to risk it as the latest update was December and was 8!
Has anyone got 9 on a T5!?

Also Kirin.

yes i agree too, i used xiaomi redmi note 3 before and untill now still active form dev. unlike this device and my note 3 is much faster gpu unlike this kirin. h6250.

You have to keep in mind that's not an exact answer. While I would be more than happy if this device (including some others such as mate se, honor 7x) get EMUI 9, seeing as how all of those devices shipped with nougat and already got oreo (one major os update) there is a very high chance these devices won't experience EMUI 9. Hopefully it does though. So far the only devices i know that have kirin 659 and shipped with oreo (haven't received one major os update) are: Huawei P20 Lite, P Smart, Honor 9 Lite and Honor 9N.

Note 9 stuck on Android 8.1.0

I just got the Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F/DS) and it's still on Android 8.1.0, security patch level December 1, 2018.
It won't update OTA, nor via Smart Switch.
The build number is M1AJQ.N960FXXS2ARL4, CSC is N960FOXM2ARK2
Is there a way to update it to at least Android 9.0?
Thanks in advance.

I do not know what you mean by genuine, it's original and unlocked.
How do I update it via ODIN if the firmware for this model hasn't been released yet?
Can I use any firmware to do it?

Man, the firmware for that phone with Pie has been release about a year ago..
Just because you didn´t get the OTA does not mean it hasn´t been released.
Just do a search here
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/#SM-N960F
for your country code to get the latest
Also search the forum for the latest ODIN version, and you must know if your phone has a SnapDragon CPU or an Exynos CPU if you would like to install custom roms and/or TWRP recovery
Go for it..
OP your so lucky to be on oreo I'm jealous

Waw.. How lucky you are.
i think better you stay in Oreo that updated it to Android 9 (Pie) Or Android 10.
IMHO, true Power of Galaxy Note 9 is on Oreo. The Multitasking menu is far usable in Oreo than Pie. The Pro Video mode is basically available on Oreo. also, you can slide the Shutter button to Zoom-in/out. Thats only on Note 9's Oreo.
Believe me, you'll regret it once you've successfully update to Pie. CMIIW

When I play Asphalt 9 it gets really hot but I'm not a gamer so that's a rare event for me xd That said that's the only game which really heats up my phone so much, others make it normally warmer.
Otherwise i haven't seen any issues at all the last 4 months since I bought the phone, Exynos version as well. I'm on OneUI 2.1 since 1 month ago. I never had the famous screen tint issue that others were reporting.
Mine was stuck on Oreo too. Always said that my device was up to date every time I would check... I downloaded android 10 from some where and used patched od to install it. Had to do a lot of updating of apps when it booted up but that's how it is.
