[HowTo] Speed Up Transitions & Animations on Your Galaxy S9 - Samsung Galaxy S9 Guides, News, & Discussion

The Galaxy S9 is an amazing smartphone, with a number of advanced features. Despite this, over time your S9 or S9+ may slow down a bit more than you would like. Thankfully, there is a longstanding trick in the Android community that can speed things up a bit.
Before we get started, it is worth noting that this method will not actually increase the speed of your phone. That is to say, it will not actually improve processor speed or affect individual app performance. What this method does is speed up the overall time spent navigating the user interface and jumping between apps. In particular, we are going to reduce the animation and transition duration on your Galaxy S9.
Step 1 Enable Developer Options
The option to reduce the animation and transition duration is not something Samsung puts front and center. For this reason, you need to enable Developer Options to access it. There is a quick and easy-to-follow guide on doing that for the Galaxy S9. Head to Settings –> About Phone –> Software Information and tap "Build Number" 7 times.
Step 2 Tune the Animation & Transition Scales
Next, select Developer Options at the bottom of the main settings list menu. From there, navigate down to the three options titled "Window animation scale," "Transition animation scale," and "Animator duration scale" in the Drawing sub-header. Each of these options is set to 1x scale by default, but you can edit the scale to your liking for each option.
recommendation is to set all three of the options to .5x scale. This will double the speed of the animations that occur when you move in and out of apps, as well as transitions between stock menus in the UI. There is also the option to turn the animation completely off, but this can be a bit jarring when actually using the phone.
That's all there is to it. Keep in mind that this will simply speed up the time you spend navigating around the UI, and will not affect actual hardware performance. In addition, some of the lag on your device may be due to other apps hogging resources — for this, you can read the tutorial on disabling such apps.

Rule n5
5. Create a thread topic or post a message only once, this includes external links & streaming media.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer.
You can bump your unanswered question once every 24 hours
Duplicate threads and posts will be removed
Always post in an existing thread if a topic already exists, before creating a new thread.
Use our search function to find the best forum for your device.
Links to an external source are only allowed if relevant to the topic in hand. A description must be included, no copy & pasting from the original source.
Self-promotion is forbidden, this includes blogs, social media and video channels etc. Random links will be removed.
Since this thread is a copy/paste from original source, is now closed!

PS: APOLOGIES FOR THE SUBJECT - I THOUGHT I HAD THE [APP] IN THE SUBJECT. CANNOT EDIT TO CORRECT. SORRY
About Pikchur for WP7:
Pikchur allows users to quickly connect and share photos to many popular social networks, micro-blogging services, and media hosting websites. The Windows Phone 7 application is packed with new platform features such as Bing map integration for geotagging, pivot controls for organizing photo information and comments, and a live tile, so users can see their most recent photo on the phone’s start screen. The application was launched simultaneously in five languages, provides privacy options, and includes Facebook and Twitter integration, so users can start sharing instantly.
Pikchur users are content pushers. They use the service to push out a single photo to multiple platforms. Their goal is to share quickly and broadly. This type of social user is different from other photo sharing users, which may be more participatory in a photography community like Flickr or exclusive like Instagram, which does not have public photo-streams.
The primary experience goal with Pikchur for Windows Phone 7 was the speed to which a user would be able to launch the device camera or select a previously taken photo from an album and share their photo. Post set up, a user requires only two steps to achieve this goal. Similar to applications like Shazam the application start screen is explicit in the engagement flow. Two large buttons dominate the screen ‘take with camera’ or ‘select from pictures’ and indicate to the user their first steps. After launching the camera or photo albums and confirming a picture, the users are returned to a display screen inside the application where they can add a caption and toggle the social networks they want to share with on and off. This toggle feature allows users to promptly adjust the pipeline for any given photo. This is useful sometimes when a user segments their own audience into different categories.
The user experience for the first launch of Pikchur for Windows Phone 7 was task based and focused on the primary goals of the user. Future versions are intended to include more exploratory and Pikchur community features. With the focus on completing tasks, the design led with a Pivot control, one of two new types of controls available for displaying content in Windows Phone 7. The other control is called a Panorama and is particularly useful when leading with content heavy applications such as news applications.
The Pivot control works essentially like a tab menu, except often not all options are visible on the screen. Windows Phone 7 breaks both page and screen metaphors for digital media design. The potential canvas for an interactive application moves beyond the screen both horizontally and vertically. When a user selects a Pivot menu item, it becomes the new focus and other menu items shift. This type of motion and presentation of information allows users to familiarize themselves with the menu options. The order of the pivot menu items also presents a hierarchy with the primary tasks or content being placed earlier in a flow.
The Pivot control works particularly well with heavy tasked based applications because it provides a menu bar that sits at the bottom of the screen called the App Bar. This App Bar holds icon buttons with actions specific to the current screen. The App Bar is a distinguishing feature of Windows Phone 7, both in its heavy icon use and emphasis on context. Icons are a powerful visual system that signal actions to users. Without having to process too much information, users can determine the primary actions to take on a screen. A hierarchy of actions is also placed in the App Bar, with primary functions placed left to right.
As an example of how the App Bar works, in Pikchur for Windows Phone 7, after a user has selected or taken a photo for upload, they are presented with a photo submit screen allowing users to add a caption and select the services where they wish to send the photo. In the App bar, two options are presented. These options are specific to the photo submit form and help to keep momentum in a users flow through an application. Users are able to better flow through an application when next step action items are so clearly expressed. The first button in Pikchur is the Send option, followed by Edit. For the Pikchur user, again the primary experience goal is the speed to sharing. The photo submit screen presents a minimum set of options that will fulfill the users need to customize before sending. Most of the options such as the post to services are already set to defaults in the setting so that the need to make tweaks on a particular post is minimal. Whereas adding filters or special photo editing features are presented early or as part of the submit form for other photo sharing application, this step is placed as a secondary action both in the App Bar and in the application. This additional step of editing adds more decision steps for the user and slows down the speed to send goal. Separating out the edit function also allows for greater expansion of the edit features for later versions. These types of experience architecture decisions reflect both an understanding of the brand values and the particular type of audience.

Email
Wallpapers
Attach wallpaper in email
Three sizes are required: HDPI, XHDPI and Grouper
I'll review them and add the wallpapers in the next release. I will also choose the best one as the default wallpaper for official releases.
Bootanimation
Attach bootanimation or paste download link in the email.
Three sizes are required: HDPI, XHDPI and grouper
Wallpaper Resolution
HDPI: 960 x 800
XHDPI: 1440 x 1280
XHDPI: 1280 x 800
You can also contribute by creating icons for settings. Use proper sizes and always include compatibility for HDPI, XHDPI and grouper.
The reason behind this is very simple. I'm always busy and I've neglected the visual aspect of RootBox for a while now. It's time to polish it with new visuals!
How to Build RootBox from Source
Getting started
I will assume that you have some kind of knowledge with Linux and how to use a terminal. I will also assume that you have already setup all the android building requirements. First, you must create your working folder and initialize a repository with RootBox sources. The following steps will guide you in creating this working folder where you will be able to build RootBox.
You should now open a terminal (By default you should be in your home folder: /home/yourusername/)
Step 1: Let's create a folder in your home directory named RootBox. This will be referred as your working folder.
Code:
~$ mkdir RootBox
Step 2: Let's change our directory to the new RootBox folder we just created.
Code:
~$ cd RootBox
Step 3: Now that we are in our working folder (RootBox), we will initialize our RootBox repository by entering the following command:
Code:
~$ repo init -u git://github.com/Root-Box/platform_manifest.git -b jb-mr1
Step 4: It's now time to sync RootBox sources which could vary from a few minutes to a few hours depending on your internet connection.
Code:
~$ repo sync
Building Vanilla RootBox
Now that you have synced the sources, you're ready to build RootBox.
You can run the following build script:
Code:
~$ ./build_rootbox.sh -device- -sync- -thread-
Device: Choose between the following supported devices: i9100, i9100p, i9100g, i9300, d2att, mako and grouper
Sync: Will sync latest RootBox sources before building
Threads: Allows to choose a number of threads for syncing and building operation.
Examples:
1) Sync sources and Build RootBox for GT-I9100 with 12 threads
Code:
~$ ./build_rootbox.sh i9100 sync 12
2) Don't sync sources and Build RootBox for GT-I9300 with 6 threads
Code:
~$ ./build_rootbox.sh i9300 nosync 6
3) Don't sync sources and Build RootBox for SGH-I747 with 4 threads
Code:
~$ ./build_rootbox.sh d2att nosync 4
This script will make a signed flashable zip file located in out/target/product/-device-/RootBox-JB-(Device)-Nightly-(Date).zip
FORUM RULES
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
2. Member conduct.
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. Please think about who is reading what you write. Keep in mind that what you think of as acceptable use of language may not be acceptable to others. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.
2.2 Nudity: XDA is used by people of all ages, including minors. It's not acceptable to post nude/pornographic imagery, which includes exposure of the male or female genitalia or of female breasts.
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions:[/B] XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.

Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.
2.6 All members are expected to read and adhere to the XDA rules.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, then pay for it. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained. This is a site of developers, i.e. the sort of people who create such software. When you cheat a software developer, you cheat us as a community
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.

Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.
13. Advertising and Income Generation
Commercial advertising, advertising referral links, pay per click links and other income generating methods are forbidden. Do not use xda-developers as a means to make money.
14. Create only one User Account

FAQ

HALO FAQ (some most discussed topics after day #1 with HALO on RootBox):
How to configure HALO?
There are three places where you configure HALO behavior:
1. Settings > RootBox Settings > HALO Settings where you configure basic HALO Notifications behavior
2. Settings > Apps > [Any App options] where you enable / disable concrete app Blacklist / Whitelist entry
3. Paranoid Android HALO))) App from Play Store where you configure apps for persistent notifications in so called floating mode.
What are options in Settings > RootBox Settings > HALO Settings?
- HALO policy allows you to choose between Blacklist (default) or Whitelist policy. In Blacklist mode are notifications from all app ON by default and you can explicitly configure some of them not to show HALO notifications by entering them to Blacklist. In Whitelist mode are notifications from all app OFF by default and you can explicitly configure some of them to show HALO notifications by entering them to Whitelist.
- Hide HALO after activity (disabled by default) allows you (if enabled) to hide HALO circle shortly after notification appears.
- Reverse HALO gestures changes behavior of dragging / tapping on HALO circle. Better to play with it or watch some youtube videos than describe this... Basics are: If enabled (default), then dragging is for tasking and double-tap swipe allows you to position circle or delete / deactivate it. If disabled, functions are reversed.
How to Blacklist / Whitelist apps?
Go to Settings > Apps > [Any App options] and there right under "Show notifications" checkbox you find either "Blacklist HALO notifications" or "Whitelist HALO notifications" according to policy set in HALO policy options.
What can I do using Paranoid Android HALO))) App?
Add some apps like Email, Gmail, Messaging, etc. using "+" button, press ">" button and you will see... You will have persistent notification in floating mode for those chosen apps. Try to drag HALO circle and you will get it.
How can I disable / deactivate HALO? (I don't want to see the circle on my screen)
Depending on your "Reverse HALO gestures" option:
- If enabled (default), then try quickly double-tap & swipe the circle. By this you will be able to position the circle or deactivate it by moving it to "trash".
- If disabled, then you can directly drag the circle. By this you will be able to position the circle or deactivate it by moving it to "trash".
How can I enable it again?
When HALO is deactivated, you can see special button in upper line of Notification drawer, that will activate it.
How can I uninstall HALO completely?
You can't. It is integral part of the ROM. You can only choose not to use it.
What if I cannot install .apk?
Wait for the next Nightly/Stable build. This will be solved. If you can't wait, then disable HALO, install what you need and enable it again.
Where can I find further information?
Take a look at this video by Oode.

Message from Bajee:
As you may know, HALO went open source as of today and the feature was merged to RootBox. This incredible feature developed by Paranoid Android will allow you to multi-task in a whole new way. So when will HALO be available to RootBox? Since everything is merged, the next nightly will have HALO included (20130611). Keep in mind that servers only start building Nightlies @12 AM (Midnight) Eastern Time! It might even take 12 hours for your device to get a nightly depending on the rank of your device in the build list. The following video will show you the basics of HALO and how to use it properly.

Big thanks goes to @kubics
Great ROM, everything is picture perfect in regards to customization, however there is one teeny tiny problem.
The option to enable alarm clock to be shown on the statusbar toggles when an alarm is due are not there. CM10.1 has that option.
Again, not a big problem just a less feature that will be forgotten soon enough but worth pointing out.

If you take a look at the support thread (link in op) you'd see that if halo is activated you cannot install any apps. Double tap and hold on halo and drag to the red x to disable it, install apps and reenable halo in pull down bar.

I thinks it is on your router side than on the phone one.... try to reset your modem/router first and/or configure it to work on A/B/G/N in AUTO channels... also check the security protocols to allow devices to find the wireless signal and to connect....... first try this, then report, hopefully that does the job

Improve Tab S performance

Hi folks,
I read about this in the Tab Pro forum and found that this helps to make Tab S performance snappier with TouchWiz. If you use another launcher, it will be even more snapier. So here are the steps:
1) Enable developer options by tapping Build Number 7 times. You will find Build Number by Settings -> General -> About Device.
2) Once the developer options are enabled, change Window Animation scale, Transition Animation scale, Animator Duration scale from 1x to 0.5x (see attached snapshot)

Tried all that. I would also try disableing system apps and use greenify to hibernate apps until you open them. I also use nova launcher and changed the speeds to fast. I also use a live wallpaper and its all smooth. What font do you use? This is what my tab s looks like. Im am rooted on stock rom.

Hi folks,
I read about this in the Tab Pro forum and found that this helps to make Tab S performance snappier with TouchWiz.

That doesn't improve the performance, it just hides some of the lags. It is nice that you try to help people (really, it is), but you should have chosen a different headline.
Anyway, I would advise against changing Animator Duration, with it deactivated Hangouts refused to auto scroll to new messages.
Thats like putting a bandaid on a wound. Want to reduce lag? Find the thread that lists all the system apps you can delete.

TouchWiz mimicking, halo, etc... how far can it go...?

Hello...
I am trying to customize my (new) sony xpereia z2, (got it for waterproof), to as close as possible to a Galaxy note or tab, as far as it can go feature wise.
I already have a few floating apps:
-floating stickies-becomes complicated with too many stickies, swiping them to the side, it becomes (almost) impossible to find the one you want, needs a single view interface, for organized viewing/editing , as well along with the float feature.
-floating browser, and cobra - crashes with only 2 tabs, doesn't remember my websites.
-G-player - my floating window will not resize, pretty sure have gone through all the options in settings, it is stuck,
I am aware of xhalofloatingwindow and xmultiwindow.
- is the only difference between the two that halo floats and multi divides the screen in fixed way? or are there other differences in the two that I am missing...
- (also when people refer to 'halo', this is the same thing as 'xhalofloatingwindow', right? or is it different...)
- are these considered 'custom roms', or not bc only partial change..
- also TouchWiz... I have read that TouchWiz mimicking apps exist, and to look here, but I haven't found any names, thus far.
the features I want are: quick screenshot, and editing, and note taking next to the screenshot, in a logged/organized manner. I would buy a stylus too, if found if could find apps or roms that mimick the galaxy note.
I do like xperia's interface, lockscreen, homescreen editor set up, and buttons. It is not so much the interface that I am trying to change, but to get a few more features. but I would change the interface if that's the only way to do it.
another subject - copying images from web browser, (not saving them), this is impossible on android but have read with a custom rom (not sure which ones, all or only some?) it is possible.
also closing tabs in chrome. you have to close each one manually, obviously annoying, plus the fact that they all reopen if you just wait the program. which Roms (all or only some) can help this...?
please advise if you can ...
Thank you for any advice ....

[GUIDE] Device Settings Menu | Part II - Sounds and vibrations, Notifications, Themes

Device Settings Menu Guide, Tips & Discussions
Part 2 - Sounds and vibration, Notifications, Wallpaper and themes
If you're new to this series or want to see the index, please read the Introductory Post first.
Sound and vibration
Vibrate while ringing: I have enabled it as in environments where ringtone is not loud enough, vibrations in my pocket helps me.
Ringtone: Set Ringtone for each of your SIMs. Tap Add to add music from your storage. Select 'Highlights only' to play only a specified part of the track and not necessarily from the beginning. This way you can make ringtones from the music track itself but anyways here are the best ringtones sites. The existing catalog in the device has few nature-inspired tones - I've set it to 'Friday'.
Vibration Pattern: Specifies vibration pattern for your Calls. Choose it to something by which you can easily differentiate your calls from a standard notification from the initial vibration itself. I've set it to 'Off-beat'.
Notification sounds: You can set customized notification for each app in app's settings itself so set this one as a default notification - something short that won't annoy you. My choice is 'Twinkle'.
Volume: Play with them to find what suits you. In my case, System (touch sounds, back button sounds, etc.) is zero while notifications on the lowest side. You can still control them by pressing volume rocker and then expanding the pop-up.
Vibration Intensity: If you get annoyed, like I do, by vibrations for every notification, set it to zero or alternatively set it to a lower level while tweaking individual app notification settings to allow/disallow vibrations. 'Touch interaction' is for on-screen touches while 'Hard press home button' is for the hard home button in Note9.
Use Volume keys for media: I never wanted to control ringtone with volume rockers. Must be enabled!
System sounds and vibration: Touch sounds; Screen lock sounds; Charging sounds; Vibration feedback; Dialling keypad tones; Keyboard sounds; Keyboard vibration; Touch vibration: I've set it off; on; on; on; off; off; off (I use SwiftKey); on.
Advanced sound settings > Sound quality and effects, Separate app sound:
Dolby Atmos: Read about it here. I've set it to Auto. You can easily toggle modes from the notification bar itself (move it to first page).
Equaliser: Play with it to decide what's best for you. Here is an Equaliser guide for you so that you can play with the Advanced mode as well.
UHQ upscaler: Bit-upscaling works best for me. Read a pro analysis on UHQ upscaling modes here.
Tube Amp Pro; Concert hall: They are disabled when using Dolby Atmos. I prefer Dolby Atmos over either of them.
Adapt Sound: Do try it! Add trying a new profile for each of your earphones or audio device and personalise sound. You can try existing profiles and toggling Clear or Soft sound preference.
Seperate app sound: Useful in cases where you don't want an app's sound to play on your default audio device. I have set 'App' to Chome/Facebook and Audio device to 'Phone' so that they don't accidently play on the connected device in case Bluetooth is left on.
Notifications
App icon badges: Useful though I use similar feature 'Notification badges' in Nova Launcher.
Do not disturb: You can schedule it though I recommend Tasker or IFTTT for scheduling stuff. Do explore Allow exception > Custom to enable 'Repeat callers', allowing calls/messages from specific group, allowing event/task/reminders. Customize DND so that your 3rd-party (scheduling) apps when enabling it enables your customized settings. Review 'App rules' when set by them. Allow or disallow LED or visual notifications when DND is enabled.
Status bar: Since I usually get a lot of notifications, I've disabled 'Show recent notifications only'. It's not a bad idea to get the actual percentage of battery level so enable 'Show battery percentage'.
LED indicator: Enable and then try apps like LightFlow (Pro) to define pro LED settings.
App Notifications: You can customize each App's notification here itself or can do this simply in that App's settings. I prefer customizing App settings when they arrive in the notification bar by holding the notification and tapping settings. This way, in some time, you'll make your app notifications fully customized for all of those that bother you. With Pie, you have now greater control of each app's notification. You can even customize notification subcategories of a particular app. Do check 'silent and minimized' mode that doesn't create a mess in your notification panel as well as minimizes the content by default with no sound. Do you need a separate guide to master this? Do tell. You can also refer to a good article here.
Advanced:
Allow or disallow lock screen notifications, DND exception and Importance. As above, I prefer doing this via app settings when needed.
Menu: 'Show system apps' for customizing notifications of the bloatware. 'Reset preference' in case you believe you have messed up with all your notifications or you need a fresh start.
Wallpaper and themes
It will route you to Samsung Themes. I use seperate icon and theme packs for Nova Launcher. I do use AOD packs from the Themes. Do explore this section on XDA itself. I'm going to develop some themes (preferably AOD skins) soon and will let you know. Learn how to develop yours here.

Is it just me, or am I completely missing the point of this? You've gone to all the trouble of explaining in great detail, a series of self explanatory settings.
It reads more as a long list just of what you have all your settings on haha.

Assuming that you have read the Introductory Post, I'm really sorry if it didn't work for you. I had tried to make sure that I don't iterate self-explanatory things that's why I haven't copy-pasted the descriptions that comes with the device. While exploring all the settings, I had to google many of them - maybe not a pro user like you. That's the reason I decided to compile this.
No worries if this series fails for everyone (though I believe there would be a group of users that I'd be able to help in anyway - maybe non-XDA users). Even if it's a no-go, moderators are free to close this thread. I always wanted to document the settings and this will at least help me in the future.
Peace.

Keep up the good work, please, finish the entire series. :good:
This is a great idea, if one feels they don't need it, they can simply move on to the rest of the device forum.
If nothing else it's a more detailed/user-friendly version of the OEM User guide.

Really gives me motivation, sir. I had already compiled the full series before moving to XDA. Three of total five parts are already posted. I was bit demotivated that's why was hesitating to immediately post the remaining two. They'll be posted within an hour now.
Thanks.

This is something I think should be a part of every device forum, especially the more popular devices.
Perhaps approach the powers that be @ XDA with the idea,to have this sort of breakdown of the phone,in its own sub-section of a device forum,to go along with the 5-6 existing sub-sections.
Such a section would address a lot of questions people have regarding their devices.
Maybe XDA will offer you (& others) a position on their staff to take this up................... :good:

Thanks for identifying the long-term goal of mine. I always wanted a single discussion space for similar kind of queries. While exploring every other unfamiliar setting on the device, when I googled them, I saw a lot of similar threads even in same website like XDA. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll surely try.
I'm now done with all the five parts (here is the index). I surely need more criticism to improve but I'm sure this is the way to go. I have been a pro mobile user since 2012 and I can bet on that most of the users have never explored even the basic settings in their devices. Even if I help a dozen of them, this is my success.
Thanks for supporting. Let's see how this works.
Why are you posting this ?
There's a very good "USER MANUAL" on the "Samsung"-site available:
User Manual Samsung Galaxy Note9
Why am I posting this?

I'm really sorry for disappointing you. It would be nicer if you could tell me how to improve the content. Coming to your 'Why' part, I think I have already explained it in the Introductory Post as well as included the message in top of every part.
I had already gone through the User Manual before I decided to compile this. User Manual has over 300 pages and it's too descriptive. It's feasible for a step-by-step process of a specific feature with even describing every button click and combination. I've summarized every single one of them in 5 parts. No one is going to read the manual in one go but I was able to fresh start my device in few minutes by going through my documentation. This may be a bad idea but as @KOLIOSIS says, I also think that this should be a basic part of each device's forum.
If manual could answer everything, why are there multiple QAs on XDA with similar queries like these:
samsung pay fingerprint section greyed out
wifi power saving mode
phone visibility
bluetooth low energy
seperate app sound
These are only few ones which I have just find out by going through first 2 parts and picking up any settings randomly. And I have filtered out results from XDA only. You'll see hundred of similar posts over many forums. This is a new idea and I will be happy to admit even if it fails. I get no worries for trying something new.
